What are the general safety instructions for the FRI-JADO BS5-I?

The user of the FRI-JADO BS5-I is responsible for abiding by local safety rules and regulations. The unit should only be operated by qualified and authorized persons familiar with the manual.

WARNINGS:

• The outside of the unit can be very hot.

• The maximum load on top of the unit may never exceed 50 kg (110 lbs).

• Risk of slippery floor: Spills may cause slippery surfaces, clean-up promptly.

• At the end of the baking process, the door may open automatically. Hold onto the door handle while operating the door knob.

• Never touch the interior or accessories with bare hands when the unit is hot. Use oven gloves.

• During use, the oven temperature can reach 250 degrees centigrade. This can cause certain materials to inflame spontaneously if too close. Do not wear loose clothing or have loose hair when operating a hot oven.

General Guidelines:

• Never cover or remove safety pictograms, labels, and instructions.

• To avoid short-circuiting, never clean the unit using a water hose. Refer to the cleaning instructions in section 8.

• The unit must be cleaned regularly to ensure proper functioning and prevent fire hazards, especially the back of the fan plate.

• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced capabilities if they have been given supervision or instruction.

• Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

When moving the FRI-JADO BS5-I, follow these steps:

WARNING: Position the unit on a flat and horizontal surface. A temporary inclined plane of maximum 5° is allowed.

• Use suitable hoisting, lifting, and transport devices for handling the unit.

• Position the unit flatly on a sufficiently sturdy base using a spirit level, considering the unit’s weight.

• There should be at least 100 mm clearance between the sides and other units or walls.

• Do not place racks with hot products against the side walls of the oven.

• The environmental temperature must be between 10 and 30 °C. The unit is not suitable for outdoor use.


How do I perform the first-use cleaning and heat-up of the FRI-JADO BS5-I?

When using the FRI-JADO BS5-I for the first time, you must clean it thoroughly and heat it up to remove oil and metal odors.

Initial Cleaning:

1. Thoroughly clean the outside, removable parts, and accessories with soapsuds.

2. Manually clean the interior and the windows using soapy water.

3. Moisten a clean cloth with clean water and wipe the clean parts to remove soapsuds residues, then dry the entire unit.

4. Place the beams for the baking trays. The round holes in the back wall mark the ideal position for the guiders, providing a distance of 100 mm between trays.

Removing Metal Odor:

The unit must be heated at the maximum temperature for at least half an hour.

1. Press “ON/OFF” for 3 seconds to switch-on the unit.

2. Press OK to display the menu.

3. Create a new program with ONE step of 250 °C / 482 °F for a duration of at least 30 minutes (See section 7).

4. Select the “Operate” tab to return to the operation field.

5. Select the new program and press START/PAUSE to start it.

6. Allow the unit to fully execute the program. The unit is now ready for use.

Switching-on the unit:

Switching-off the unit:

Press the ON/OFF button for approximately 3 seconds. If the oven temperature is still high (above 80°C), it will first cool down with the fans active before switching off automatically. You can speed up cooling by opening the door to bring the temperature down to 50°C.


How do I open the door and load the FRI-JADO BS5-I?

The oven door is kept closed by electrical door locks. When the unit is on, the door can always be opened by pressing the door button/knob.

Loading the unit:

1. Open the door with the door knob.

2. Load the unit with products.

3. Close the door.

4. The baking process will be resumed immediately after closing the door.

Note: It is possible to have the door open automatically at the end of a baking process. This can be configured in the manager menu.

WARNING: After baking, the interior of the unit and the glass panes are very hot. Always use oven gloves.

After the program is complete, the unit goes to standby. If an alarm signal is set, it will sound. This signal can be stopped by pressing OK.

4. Press OK twice.

8. Select “Set date”.

10. Select “store” to save the timer settings and quit the menu.

Open for cooling: no – yes. Allows the door to be opened during cooling for cleaning, or when the oven is hotter than the set temperature.

Auto recipe start: NO – YES.

Buzzer set: Beep 1 – 5.

Key beep: ON – OFF.

Water capacity: Set the capacity of the water filter (50 – 30000 Litre / 100 – 7925 Gallon).

Lime filter: Shows remaining capacity of the lime filter in percentage.

Lime filter replaced: Resets the capacity indicator to 100%.

Clear errors: Clears recorded errors.


How do I add a new baking program to the FRI-JADO BS5-I?

1. Activate the program menu (middle selection button). Enter pin code if required.

2. Select “add program” and press OK.

Enter the program name:

1. The name can have up to 11 characters (A-Z, 0-9, -, blank). Enter the first character using the rotation pad.

2. Press OK or the right arrow to move to the next position.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all characters.

4. Select the next position with the right arrow.

5. Press OK twice to store the name and proceed.

6. Select “next” and press OK to start programming the baking steps.


How do I program a baking step in a new program on the FRI-JADO BS5-I?

After naming the program, a table appears to define up to 9 baking steps. To alter a cell, select it and press OK. The cell background will turn orange.

1. Set the time duration (1-240 minutes):

• Select the first cell (time) and press OK. Set the duration with the rotation pad. Enter “-” to skip the step or to set the first step as a pre-heat step. Press OK to close the cell.

2. Set the temperature:

• Move to the temperature column, press OK, set the temperature with the rotation pad, and press OK to close.

3. Set the fan speed:

• Move to the fan speed column, press OK. Use the turning knob to set the speed (off / S / 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5). ‘S’ is very slow, ‘5’ is full capacity. Press OK to close. (Note: if fan is ‘off’, temp > 0°C cannot be set; if ‘S’, temp > 150°C cannot be set).

4. Set the steam input:

• Move to the steam mode column, press OK. Set the mode (0, 1, or 2) with the turning knob.

– Mode 0: Pulses at the beginning of the step.

– Mode 1: Pulses per minute.

– Mode 2: Same as mode 1, but the first pulse is extra-long.

• Press OK. Then move to the next column to set the number of steam pulses. Press OK.

5. Set the de-aeration valve position:

• Move to the last column, press OK. Set the valve position: ‘closed’, ‘open’, or ‘5’ (closed, but opens for the last 5 minutes of the step). Press OK.

Next cooking steps / Keeping Warm (HOLD):

• To add another step, select the first cell of the next row and repeat the process.

• To add a “keep warm” step (must be the last step), skip setting the time duration (enter “-“) and set a temperature. The time will automatically be set to HOLD (infinite).

Save the program:

• Select “saving program” and press OK.


How do I edit an existing program on the FRI-JADO BS5-I?

1. Select “Edit program” from the program menu and press OK.

2. Select the required program and press OK.

To edit the program name:

• Select the position of the character to change. Use the rotation pad to change it. Use a ‘blank’ to erase a character. Repeat as needed, then select ‘next’ and press OK.

To edit the cooking steps:

1. Select the cell you wish to change.

2. Press OK. The cell background turns orange.

3. Set the new value using the rotation pad.

4. Press OK to close the cell.

5. Repeat steps 1-4 if needed.

6. Select “save program” and press OK to save all changes.


How do I delete a program from the FRI-JADO BS5-I?

Note: Deleting a program cannot be undone.

1. Select “delete program” from the program menu.

How do I use the automatic interior cleaning program on the FRI-JADO BS5-I?

The unit is best cleaned shortly after use when it is still lukewarm. The cleaning program takes approximately 45 minutes.

WARNING:

• Remove baking trays and/or racks before starting.

• Be sure the unit is connected to the water supply.

• Preferably use “Fri-Jado Clean”. Prepare the cleaning agent in the proper proportions as per the package.

Steps:

1. Remove baking trays and/or racks from the oven.

2. Clean the racks with hot water and a suitable cleaning agent.

3. Remove soap residues from the racks with sufficient hot water.

4. Sweep crumbs, seeds, and other residue from the oven.

5. Switch on the oven and press the selection key for ‘operate’.

6. Select the program ‘clean’.

7. Press OK. The unit will preheat or cool down to 50°C.

8. Wait for the message ‘Add Cleaner’.

9. Open the door and spray the entire oven, including the inside of the window, with a generous amount of Fri-Jado Clean.

10. Close the door.

11. Press OK.

The equipment will now clean itself completely. The oven will switch off automatically after completion of the program.


How do I clean the rear panel of the FRI-JADO BS5-I?

WARNING: Take the power plug from the socket before starting. Avoid bumping against the fan blades to prevent imbalance.

1. Remove the two nuts at the top using the provided key and keep them carefully.

2. Pull the rear wall a bit forwards and lift it.

3. Remove the rear wall from the oven.

4. Clean the rear wall with hot water and Fri-Jado clean. For heavy contamination, spray with Fri-Jado Clean, let it soak, and rinse thoroughly.

5. Remove dirt from the bottom of the oven and from the now visible inner rear panel with a soft brush.

6. Replace the rear wall. When placing it back, be sure that the two pins on the bottom of the oven fall into the holes in the lower edge of the rear wall.


What are the cleaning guidelines for non-stick coated surfaces on the FRI-JADO BS5-I?

DO NOT do the following:

• Do not use scouring pads, steel wool, Scotch-Brite pads, or other abrasive cleaning aids.

• Do not use sharp instruments like knives, forks, or metal scrapers.

• Do not use oven cleaners.

• Do not attempt to burn-off or bake-off surface contamination.

• Do not operate for more than eight hours without cleaning.

Routine Cleaning (at the end of each cook cycle):

1. Allow surfaces to cool before cleaning.

2. Mix a mild dishwashing soap in warm water and use a soft cloth or sponge to remove grease and food residue.

3. Rinse with clean water and let dry.

4. Wipe a light vegetable oil into the surface to condition it. Do not use vegetable oil cooking spray.

Cleaning Severe Build-up (not for routine cleaning):

1. Mix the following solution: 3 tablespoons of bleach, 1 tablespoon of liquid dishwashing detergent, 1 cup of water.

2. Use a sponge or cloth to apply the solution. “Plastic” wash pads for non-stick cookware may be used for severe build-up, but never use steel pads.

3. Thoroughly rinse with clean water and let dry.

4. Condition with vegetable oil.


How do I troubleshoot common malfunctions with the FRI-JADO BS5-I?

Before contacting your supplier, check if the power supply is working properly (check fuses and differential switch) and if the timer clock has been properly set.

How can I open the door of the FRI-JADO BS5-I manually during a power failure?

WARNING: Remove the plug from the wall socket.

In case of a power failure or defective door lock, the oven door can be opened manually using two unlocking pins on the top of the oven.

For an oven with an exhaust hood:

1. First, slide the filter upward and move it toward you. The filter will come loose from the exhaust hood. You can now see the unlocking pins in the front of the exhaust hood.

For all units:

2. Pull both unlocking pins upward simultaneously. The door will now open.
