How do I adjust the thread tension on the EURO-PRO SHARK 361?
Upper Thread Tension:
Upper thread tension may be adjusted by turning the thread tension dial. The normal upper thread tension is between 4 and 6.
- A. Normal thread tension: The upper and lower threads interlock evenly between the two layers of fabric.
- B. Thread tension too loose: The upper thread forms loops on the underside of the fabric.
- C. Thread tension too tight: The lower thread is visible on the top side of the fabric.
Lower Thread Tension:
Lower thread tension can be increased by turning the screw of the bobbin case slightly to the right (clockwise). Turning it to the left (anti-clockwise) decreases tension.
How do I regulate the presser foot pressure on the EURO-PRO SHARK 361?
1. Push down the lever for the desired pressure. For light fabrics, set the lever at 3; set at 2 for medium fabrics; and at 1 for heavy fabrics.
2. Insufficient pressure may cause poor feeding, skipped stitches, or difficulty in guiding the fabric. To adjust the presser foot pressure, use the lever behind the cover of the lamp. Loosen the stop screw of the lamp cover to open it.
3. When darning or sewing freehand embroidery, release the pressure by setting the lever to 0.

3. Sufficient fabric should be placed under the needle before lowering the presser foot.
4. Depress the foot/speed control and start to sew.
5. Test the machine stitches on a scrap of fabric you plan to use, adjusting the machine for the length of the stitch and tension suitable to your fabric.
Attention:
1. When turning the balance wheel manually, always turn it toward you.
2. Guide the cloth gently with your hand.
3. To prevent breaking needles, always raise the needle out of the fabric when you stop sewing.

2. The zigzag presser foot can be used for both straight and zigzag sewing.
3. For sewing light fabric, use a smaller stitch size.
Zigzag Sewing:
Setting the stitch length: The density of zigzag stitches increases as the setting of the stitch length dial approaches “0”. Neat zigzag stitches are usually achieved at “2.5” or below.
Satin stitch: When the stitch length is set between “0” – “1”, the stitches are very close together producing the satin stitch which is used for making buttonholes and decorative stitches.
Sewing thin fabrics: When sewing very thin fabrics, it is suggested that you use very fine paper on the backside of the fabric that can be easily torn off when the sewing is finished.
How do I use the overcasting or straight stretch stitch on the EURO-PRO SHARK 361?
Overcasting:
Use these stitches for oversewing rough edges to prevent them from unraveling.
Straight Stretch Stitch:
Use this stitch with knitted, tricot, or other stretchy fabrics. The stitch enables your seam to stretch without breaking the thread.

3. Fold the fabric as illustrated with the wrong side uppermost.
4. Place the fabric under the foot. Turn the handwheel forward by hand until the needle swings fully to the left. It should just pierce the fold of the fabric.
5. Adjust the guide by turning the knob so that the guide just rests against the fabric.
6. Sew slowly, by pressing the foot control lightly and guiding the fabric along the edge of the guide.
Note: It takes practice to sew blind hems. Always make a sewing test first.

4. Fold the fabric about 2 cm and place the fabric under the foot.
To sew the left side of the zipper, set the zipper foot on the right side of the needle.
To sew the right side of the zipper, set the zipper foot on the left side of the needle.
Sew as illustrated in the manual.
How do I sew buttonholes with the EURO-PRO SHARK 361?
Preparation:
1. Remove the zigzag foot and attach the buttonhole foot.
2. Adjust the stitch length dial to between “0.5” – “1”. The density of the stitch depends on the thickness of the fabric.
Note: Always test sew a buttonhole on a scrap piece of fabric first.
To prepare the fabric:
1. Measure the diameter of the button and add 0.3 cm (1/8″) for the bartacks. Mark the position and length of the buttonhole on the fabric.
2. Position the fabric so that the needle is on the mark that is furthest from you.
3. Pull the buttonhole foot towards you as far as it will go and lower the foot.
Sewing the buttonhole:
a. Turn the pattern selector dial to the first buttonhole icon. Sew at a moderate speed until you reach the end mark.
b. Turn the pattern selector dial to the bartack icon and sew 5-6 bartack stitches.
c. Turn the pattern selector dial to the second buttonhole icon and sew the left side of the buttonhole to the mark at the end which is further from you.
d. Turn the pattern selector dial to the second bartack icon and sew bar tack stitches.
Finishing:
Remove the fabric from under the foot. Draw the upper thread through the backside of the fabric and knot the upper and lower threads. Cut the center of the buttonhole with the seam ripper, being careful not to cut the stitches on either side.
Tips:
Slightly reduce upper thread tension to produce better results.
Use backing material for fine and stretchy fabrics.
It is advisable to use a gimp cord for stretch or knit fabrics. The zigzag should sew over the gimp.
How do I create a hem with the optional Hemmer foot on the EURO-PRO SHARK 361?
1. Raise the foot and the needle to its highest position. Replace the foot with the picot foot (hemmer foot).
2. Fold over the fabric edge by about 3 mm and place it under the foot. Secure the folded edge with a few stitches. Take out the workpiece and draw the hem into the picot foot by pulling the threads.
3. Lower the foot and sew the hem.
4. While sewing, fold the fabric to the left a little and allow it to run into the hemmer foot.
5. Make sure that the fabric does not move under the right half of the foot. The fabric must be fed into the scroll of the hemmer sufficiently so that the workpiece edge runs freely through the groove under the foot.
Only suitable materials can be used and some practice may be necessary to achieve the best results.
How do I use an optional twin needle on the EURO-PRO SHARK 361?
1. Put in the twin needle with the flat side backward.
2. Thread the machine as for normal sewing, leading both threads to the needle and passing their ends separately through its eye.

Note: The presser foot shown is the optional satin stitch foot which does not come with your machine.
How do I attach and use the optional Walking Foot on the EURO-PRO SHARK 361?
The walking foot accessory equalizes the feeding of the upper and lower layers of fabric and improves the matching of plaids, stripes, and patterns. This foot helps prevent uneven feeding of very difficult fabrics. It should be used only when necessary.
1. Lift the presser foot bar.
2. Remove the foot holder by turning the presser bar attaching screw counter-clockwise.
3. Attach the walking foot to the machine in the following way:

What should I do if my EURO-PRO SHARK 361 is not working correctly?
| Problem | Probable Cause | What to Do (Solution) |
|---|---|---|
| Fabric does not move | – Feed dog down – Stitch length dial on “0” – Light presser foot pressure |
– Raise feed dog – Set dial between 1 and 4 – Increase pressure |
| Breaking needle | – Incorrect insertion of needle – Bent needle – Fabric is being pulled – Needle, thread and fabric do not match |
– Re-insert needle – Replace needle – Do not pull fabric – Use correct needle and thread |
| Breaking upper thread | – Faulty adjustment of zigzag width – Improper threading – Tight upper thread tension – Bent needle – Scratches or nicks on shuttle |
– Re-adjust zigzag width – Re-thread machine – Reduce upper thread tension – Replace needle – Polish or replace shuttle |
| Breaking bobbin thread | – Tied bobbin thread tension – Incorrect insertion of needle – Improper threading – Lint or thread in shuttle |
– Reduce bobbin thread tension – Re-insert needle – Rethread machine – Clean shuttle |
| Machine jamming / La tela se ondula (Fabric puckering) | – Excessive tension – Presser foot pressure too strong – Needle, thread and fabric do not match |
