The EPSON EB-W52 projector includes several special features for ease of use and high-quality projection:

Quick and Easy Setup:

• Direct Power On feature to turn on the projector as soon as you plug it in.

• Auto Power On feature to turn on the projector when it detects an image signal from a specified port.

• Home screen feature for easy selection of input sources and useful functions.

• Automatic vertical keystone correction (Auto V-Keystone) to always display a rectangular screen.

• Horizontal keystone slider to quickly correct horizontal distortion.

Easy Wireless Projection:

• Screen Mirroring to connect your projector and mobile device wirelessly using Miracast technology.

• Epson iProjection (Windows/Mac) allows projection of up to four images simultaneously by splitting the screen. You can project from computers on the network, or from smartphones and tablet devices.

You can place your EPSON EB-W52 projector on almost any flat surface. Follow these points when selecting a location:

• Place the projector on a sturdy, level surface.

• Leave plenty of space around and under the projector for ventilation. Do not place it on top of or next to anything that could block the vents.

• Place the projector so it squarely faces the screen, not at an angle. For the best quality images, adjust the installation position to achieve the correct image size and shape.

You can set up or install your projector in the following ways:

• Front/Rear: Placed on a table in front of or behind the screen.

• Front Ceiling/Rear Ceiling: Mounted on a ceiling in front of or behind the screen.

Make sure you select the correct Projection option in the projector’s Extended menu according to the installation method being used.

To connect your EPSON EB-W52 to a computer for VGA video and audio, follow these steps:

1. Connect the VGA computer cable to your computer’s monitor port.

2. Connect the other end of the VGA cable to a Computer port on the projector.

3. Tighten the screws on the VGA connector.

4. For audio, connect a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack audio cable to your laptop’s headphone jack or your desktop’s speaker/audio-out port.

5. Connect the other end of the audio cable to the Audio port on the projector that corresponds to the Computer port you are using.

If your computer meets the system requirements, you can send video and audio output to the EPSON EB-W52 through the computer’s USB port (USB Display). Follow these steps:

1. Connect the USB cable to your projector’s USB-B port.

2. Connect the other end to any available USB port on your computer.

3. Turn on the projector and your computer.

4. Install the Epson USB Display software. This is only needed the first time you connect.

• Windows: Select Run EMP_UDSE.EXE in the dialog box that appears.

• Mac: The Epson USB Display setup folder is displayed. Select USB Display Installer and follow the on-screen instructions.

5. Follow any on-screen instructions. Do not disconnect the USB cable or turn off the projector until an image is displayed.

The projector will then display the image from your computer’s desktop and output sound if your presentation contains audio.

To connect a device with an HDMI port (like a computer or Blu-ray player) to your EPSON EB-W52, follow these instructions:

1. Turn off the video source before connecting it to the projector to avoid damage.

2. Connect the HDMI cable to your video source’s HDMI output port.

3. Connect the other end to the projector’s HDMI port.

If you have problems hearing audio through the HDMI connection, you can connect a separate 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack audio cable from your device’s audio out port to the projector’s Audio port. You will then need to select the correct audio input port in the projector’s Extended menu.

You can project images and other content from a USB flash drive, digital camera, or USB hard drive without using a computer. To connect a device:

1. If your USB device has a power adapter, plug the device into an electrical outlet.

2. Connect the USB cable or USB flash drive to the projector’s USB-A port.

3. If using a cable, connect the other end to your device.

Note: USB hard drives must be USB Mass Storage Class-compliant, formatted in FAT16/32, and preferably self-powered. Avoid using bus-powered hard drives or drives with multiple partitions.

Turning On the Projector:

1. Connect the power cord to the projector’s power inlet and plug it into an electrical outlet. The power indicator will turn blue (standby mode).

2. Press the power button on the control panel or remote control. The projector beeps, and the status indicator flashes blue while it warms up. Once warmed up, the status indicator stops flashing and turns solid blue.

3. Open the projector’s lens cover by sliding the A/V Mute slide lever.

Turning Off the Projector:

1. Press the power button on the control panel or remote control. A shutdown confirmation screen appears.

2. Press the power button again. The projected image disappears, the projector beeps twice, and the status indicator turns off. With Epson’s Instant Off technology, there is no cool-down period required.

3. To transport the projector, ensure the power indicator is solid blue and the status indicator is off, then unplug the power cord.

4. Close the projector’s lens cover.

If your projected image is not rectangular, you can correct its shape using several methods on the EPSON EB-W52:

• Auto V-Keystone: The projector automatically corrects vertical keystone distortion when it is moved or tilted up or down by about 30º. This feature is active when the Projection setting is set to Front.

• Horizontal Keystone Slider: Use the slider on top of the projector to correct the shape of an image that is an uneven horizontal rectangle, effective for projection angles up to about 30º right or left.

• Keystone Buttons: Press the keystone adjustment buttons on the control panel to display the Keystone adjustment screen. You can then correct both vertical and horizontal keystone distortion up to 30º.

• Quick Corner: This setting allows you to correct the shape and size of an unevenly rectangular image by adjusting each of the four corners individually. Access it through the menu: Settings > Keystone > Quick Corner.

After correction, the image will be slightly smaller.

You can adjust the size and focus of the projected image using the rings on the lens of your EPSON EB-W52.

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. To resize the image, rotate the zoom ring to enlarge or reduce it.

3. To focus the image, rotate the focus ring until the image is sharp and clear.

You can change the projector’s Color Mode to optimize the image for your viewing environment.

1. Turn on the projector and switch to the image source you want to use.

2. Press the [Color Mode] button on the remote control. The name of the Color Mode appears briefly on the screen, and the image appearance changes.

3. To cycle through all available color modes, press the [Color Mode] button repeatedly.

Available color modes include:

• Dynamic: The brightest mode, best for prioritizing brightness.
• Presentation: Best for projecting vivid images.
• Cinema: Best for enjoying content such as movies.
• sRGB: Best for faithfully reproducing the color of the source image.
• Blackboard: Best for projecting images directly on a green chalkboard.

You can use the split screen feature on your EPSON EB-W52 to project two images from different sources at the same time.

1. Press the [Split] button on the remote control. The currently selected input source moves to the left of the screen.

2. Press the [Menu] button to see the Split Screen Setup menu.

3. To select an input source for the other image, select the Source setting, choose the input source, select Execute, and press [Enter].

4. You can use other options in the menu to:

• Swap Screens: Switch the left and right images.

• Screen Size: Enlarge one image while reducing the other.

• Audio Source: Select which source provides the audio.

• Align: Align the projected images.

5. To exit the split screen feature, press the [Split] or [Esc] button.

Note that not all input source combinations can be projected on a split screen, and certain projector features may be unavailable during split screen projection.

You can temporarily turn off the projected image and sound on your EPSON EB-W52 to redirect your audience’s attention. Any video or sound action continues to run in the background.

There are two ways to do this:

• Press the [A/V Mute] button on the remote control. This stops projection and mutes any sound.

• Slide the A/V Mute slide lever on the projector to close the lens cover.

To turn the image and sound back on, press the [A/V Mute] button again or open the A/V Mute slide lever.

Note: The projector’s power automatically turns off after 30 minutes when A/V Mute is enabled. You can disable this timer in the ECO menu.

The EPSON EB-W52 has a built-in wireless LAN module. To set up wireless projection, you need to configure the network settings on the projector.

1. Press the [Menu] button, select the Network menu, and press [Enter].

2. Select On as the Wireless LAN Power setting.

3. Select Network Configuration and press [Enter].

4. Select the Wireless LAN menu and press [Enter].

5. Select the Connection Mode setting:

• Quick: Connects directly to devices. The projector acts as an access point.

• Advanced: Connects to devices over a wireless network access point.

6. If using Advanced mode, select Search Access Point to find and connect to your network.

7. Configure other settings as necessary, such as IP Settings and Security (e.g., entering a passphrase for WPA2-PSK).

8. When you have finished, select Complete and follow the on-screen instructions to save your settings.

9. Press the [LAN] button on the remote control. The wireless network settings are complete when you see the correct IP address on the LAN standby screen.

Regular filter maintenance is important to prevent your EPSON EB-W52 from overheating. Clean the air filter when a message appears or if it gets dusty.

1. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

2. Use a small vacuum designed for computers or a very soft brush (like a paintbrush) to gently remove dust from the air filter and vents.

3. You can remove the air filter to clean both sides. Do not rinse the air filter in water or use any detergent or solvent to clean it.

4. If dust is difficult to remove or the air filter is damaged, you must replace it.

Replace the lamp as soon as the projected image gets darker, or when a replacement message is displayed.

1. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

2. Allow the lamp to cool down for at least one hour to avoid injury.

3. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw securing the lamp cover.

4. Slide the lamp cover out and lift it off.

5. Loosen the two screws securing the lamp to the projector. These screws will not come all the way out.

6. Grip the raised section of the old lamp and carefully pull it straight out.

7. Gently insert the new lamp. If it does not fit easily, make sure it is facing the right way. Do not touch the glass on the lamp assembly.

8. Push the lamp in firmly and tighten the two screws to secure it.

9. Replace the lamp cover and tighten its screw.

After replacing the lamp, you must reset the lamp timer.

After replacing the projector’s lamp, you must reset the lamp timer to clear the replacement message and accurately monitor the new lamp’s usage.

1. Turn on the projector.

2. Press the [Menu] button, select the Reset menu, and press [Enter].

3. Select Reset Lamp Hours and press [Enter].

4. A confirmation prompt will ask if you want to reset the lamp hours. Select Yes and press [Enter].

5. Press [Menu] or [Esc] to exit the menus.

Do not reset the lamp timer if you have not replaced the lamp, as this will result in inaccurate lamp usage information.

If your EPSON EB-W52 projector overheats, it will turn off automatically. The indicators will provide information on the status. Try the following solutions:

• If the Power indicator is flashing blue and the Temp indicator is flashing orange, the projector is too hot.

• Make sure the vents and air filter are not clogged with dust or obstructed by nearby objects.

• Clean or replace the air filter.

• Ensure the environmental temperature is not too high.

• If the Status indicator is flashing blue and the Temp indicator is lit orange, the projector has overheated and turned off.

• Leave it turned off to cool down for 5 minutes.

• Check that the vents and air filter are not clogged.

• Make sure the environmental temperature is not too hot.

• If operating at high altitude, set the High Altitude Mode to On in the Extended menu.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, unplug the projector and contact Epson for help.

If no image appears from your EPSON EB-W52, try the following solutions:

• Make sure the lens cover is fully open.

• Press the [A/V Mute] button on the remote control to see if the image was temporarily turned off.

• Ensure all necessary cables are securely connected and that both the projector and the connected video sources are powered on.

• Press the projector’s power button to wake it from standby or sleep mode. Also, check if a connected computer is in sleep mode or displaying a blank screen saver.

• Press the [Source Search] button on the control panel or remote control to detect the input source.

• Check that the projector’s control panel buttons are not locked. If they are, unlock them or use the remote control.

• Adjust the Brightness setting in the Image menu.

• Select High or Medium for the Power Consumption setting in the ECO menu.

If the projected image from your EPSON EB-W52 is fuzzy or blurry, try these solutions:

• Adjust the image focus using the focus ring on the lens.

• Position the projector closer to the screen.

• Position the projector so that the keystone adjustment angle is not so wide that it distorts the image.

• Clean the projector lens using lens-cleaning paper or a soft, lint-free cloth with lens cleaner.

• To avoid condensation on the lens when moving the projector from a cold environment, let it warm up to room temperature before use.

• Adjust the Sharpness setting in the Image menu.

If there is no sound or the volume is too low or high from your EPSON EB-W52, try the following solutions:

• Adjust the projector’s volume settings using the volume buttons.

• Press the [A/V Mute] button on the remote control to ensure audio was not temporarily muted.

• Check your computer or video source to make sure its volume is turned up and the audio output is set correctly.

• Check the audio cable connections between the projector and your video source.

• Make sure any connected audio cables are labeled “No Resistance”.

• If using the USB Display function, ensure the “Output audio from the projector” setting is turned on in the Epson USB Display Settings on your computer.

• If you do not hear sound from an HDMI source, set the connected device to PCM output.

• If connecting to a Mac with an HDMI cable, ensure your Mac supports audio through the HDMI port. If not, connect a separate audio cable.

The indicator lights on your EPSON EB-W52 show the projector’s status. Here are some common patterns:
