The EPSON EB-X06 multimedia projector supports the following functions:

The EPSON EB-X06 projector includes several features for a quick and easy setup:

• Direct Power On feature to turn on the projector as soon as you plug it in.

• Auto Power On feature to turn on the projector when it detects an image signal from a specified port.

• Home screen feature to easily select an input source and useful functions.

• Automatic vertical keystone correction (Auto V-Keystone) which always displays a rectangular screen.

With the optional wireless LAN module installed, your EPSON EB-X06 can use the following applications for wireless projection:

• Epson iProjection (Windows/Mac): This software allows you to project up to four images at the same time by splitting the projected screen. You can project images from computers on the network.

• Epson iProjection (iOS/Android): An app to connect your projector and mobile device wirelessly. Any fees incurred when communicating with the app store are the responsibility of the customer.

• Epson iProjection (Chromebook): An app to connect your projector and Chromebook device wirelessly. Any fees incurred when communicating with the app store are the responsibility of the customer.

The EPSON EB-X06 model shown in the manual (EB-E01/VS260 group) has the following ports on the rear:

For optimal performance of your EPSON EB-X06, follow these placement guidelines:

• Place the projector on a sturdy, level surface or install it using a compatible mount.

• Leave plenty of space around and under the projector for ventilation. Do not place it on top of or next to anything that could block the vents.

• For the best quality images, place the projector so it squarely faces the screen, not at an angle. If you cannot install it squarely, use the keystone correction controls to adjust the image shape.

Warning:

• Do not cover the air intake or exhaust vents, as the internal temperature could rise and cause a fire.

• Avoid installing the projector in dusty, dirty, or unstable locations.

• When installing in a high position, use wires to prevent falling.

• Do not install in locations subject to salt damage or corrosive gas.

• Do not install in locations with high levels of dust, humidity, smoke, or steam (e.g., kitchens, factories). This could cause a fire, electric shock, or deterioration of the projector’s case, which could cause it to fall from a mount.

You can set up or install your EPSON EB-X06 projector in the following ways:

• Front/Rear: This includes placing the projector on a table in front of the screen or behind a translucent screen.

• Front Ceiling/Rear Ceiling: This involves mounting the projector upside-down from a ceiling, either in front of the screen or behind a translucent screen.

After placing the projector, you must select the correct Projection option in the projector’s Extended menu to orient the image correctly for your installation method.

To connect your EPSON EB-X06 to a computer for video and audio using VGA, follow these steps:

1. Connect one end of a VGA computer cable to your computer’s monitor port.

2. Connect the other end of the VGA cable to a Computer port on the projector.

3. Tighten the screws on the VGA connector to secure it.

4. For audio, connect a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack audio cable from your computer’s headphone or audio-out jack to the corresponding Audio port on the projector.

Note: Make sure the audio cable is labeled “No resistance”. If your computer does not have a VGA port, you will need an adapter.

If your computer meets the system requirements, you can send video and audio from your computer to the EPSON EB-X06 projector through a single USB cable using the USB Display function.

1. Connect a USB cable to your projector’s USB-B port.

2. Connect the other end of the cable to any available USB port on your computer.

3. Turn on the projector and your computer.

4. The first time you connect, you will need to install the Epson USB Display software. Follow the on-screen prompts to run the installer (e.g., Run EMP_UDSE.EXE on Windows or use the USB Display Installer on Mac).

5. Follow any on-screen instructions. Do not disconnect the cable or turn off the projector until the image is displayed.

Once connected, the projector will display the image from your computer’s desktop and output any audio from your presentation.

To connect a computer or video device with an HDMI output to your EPSON EB-X06, follow these steps:

1. Connect one end of an HDMI cable to the HDMI output port on your computer or video device.

2. Connect the other end of the cable to the projector’s HDMI port.

The projector will now receive both video and audio through the single HDMI cable. If you have trouble hearing audio, you can connect a separate 3.5mm audio cable from your device’s audio out port to the projector’s Audio port and select the correct audio input in the projector’s Extended menu.

If your video source has a composite video port, you can connect it to the EPSON EB-X06 using an RCA-style A/V cable.

1. Connect the cable with the yellow connector to your video source’s yellow video output port.

2. Connect the other end to the projector’s yellow Video port.

3. For audio, connect the red and white audio connectors to your video source’s audio-out ports.

4. Connect the other end of the audio cable to the projector’s L-Audio-R ports.

The remote control for your EPSON EB-X06 uses two AA batteries.

1. Remove the battery cover on the back of the remote control.

2. Remove the old batteries, if necessary. Please dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.

3. Insert the two new AA batteries, making sure the + and – ends match the markings inside the battery holder.

4. Replace the battery cover and press it down until it clicks into place.

Warning: Ensure the batteries are inserted the correct way. If used incorrectly, they could explode or leak, causing fire, injury, or damage.

To operate your EPSON EB-X06, aim the remote control at the projector’s receivers (front and rear) within the distance and angles listed here:

• Distance: Up to 6 meters (approx. 20 feet).

• Vertical Angle: Within 30° up or down from the receiver.

• Horizontal Angle: Within 30° left or right of the front receiver, or within 15° left or right of the rear receiver.

Note: Avoid using the remote control in conditions with bright fluorescent lights or in direct sunlight, as the projector may not respond to commands. If you are not going to use the remote for a long time, remove the batteries.

1. To open the lens cover: Slide the A/V Mute slide lever until it clicks. This will start projection.

2. To cover the lens: Close the A/V Mute slide lever. This temporarily turns off the projected image and sound (A/V Mute).

The projector’s power automatically turns off 30 minutes after A/V Mute is enabled. You can disable this feature in the ECO menu by adjusting the Lens Cover Timer.

Turning On the Projector:

1. Connect the power cord to the projector’s power inlet and plug it into an electrical outlet. The power indicator will turn blue (standby mode).

2. Open the projector’s lens cover by sliding the A/V Mute slide lever.

3. Press the power button on the control panel or remote control. The projector will beep, and the status indicator will flash blue as it warms up. When the status indicator stops flashing and turns solid blue, the projector is ready.

Turning Off the Projector:

1. Press the power button on the control panel or remote control. A shutdown confirmation screen will appear.

2. Press the power button again. The projected image disappears, the projector beeps twice, and the status indicator turns off.

3. To transport or store the projector, make sure the power indicator is blue (not flashing) and the status indicator is off, then unplug the power cord.

4. Close the projector’s lens cover.

The Home Screen on your EPSON EB-X06 allows you to easily select an image source and access useful functions. You can display it by pressing the [Home] button on the control panel or remote control. It also appears automatically when you turn on the projector if no signal is being input.

The Home Screen provides access to:

1. Source Selection: A list of available input sources to project from.

2. Connection Guide: Displays wireless connection methods for devices like smartphones or computers (with optional wireless LAN module).

3. Help Screen: Provides solutions to common problems.

4. Projector’s Menu: Opens the main menu system.

5. ECO Settings: Accesses power-saving settings.

6. Color Mode: Allows you to change the color mode.

7. Keystone Correction: Corrects the shape of an image that is an uneven rectangle.

The Home Screen disappears after 10 minutes of inactivity.

To view the projector’s menus and messages in another language, follow these steps:

1. Turn on the EPSON EB-X06 projector.

2. Press the [Menu] button on the control panel or remote control.

3. Select the Extended menu and press [Enter].

4. Select the Language setting and press [Enter].

5. Select the language you want to use and press [Enter].

6. Press [Menu] or [Esc] to exit the menus.

Depending on how you positioned your EPSON EB-X06, you may need to change the projection mode to orient the image correctly. The modes are:

• Front: Projects from a table in front of the screen.

• Front/Ceiling: Flips the image top-to-bottom for projecting upside-down from a ceiling.

• Rear: Flips the image horizontally to project from behind a translucent screen.

• Rear/Ceiling: Flips the image top-to-bottom and horizontally for ceiling mounting behind a translucent screen.

To change the projection mode using the menus:

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Press the [Menu] button.

3. Select the Extended menu and press [Enter].

4. Select Projection and press [Enter].

5. Select the desired projection mode and press [Enter].

6. Press [Menu] or [Esc] to exit.

You can display a test pattern to help adjust the projected image without connecting a computer or video device to your EPSON EB-X06.

1. Turn on the projector.

2. Press the [Menu] button on the control panel or remote control.

3. Select the Settings menu and press [Enter].

4. Select Pattern > Test Pattern, and press [Enter]. The test pattern is displayed.

5. Adjust the image focus, position, and shape as necessary.

6. Press [Esc] to clear the test pattern.

If you are projecting from a flat surface and the image is too high or low, you can adjust the image height using the projector’s adjustable feet.

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. To adjust the front foot, pull up on the foot release lever and lift the front of the projector. The foot extends from the projector, allowing you to adjust the position up to approximately 12 degrees.

3. Release the lever to lock the foot in place.

4. If the image is now tilted horizontally, rotate the rear feet to adjust their height until the image is level.

If the projected image from your EPSON EB-X06 is unevenly rectangular (trapezoidal), you can correct its shape using several methods. Note that after correction, your image may be slightly smaller.

Auto V-Keystone:

When the projector is moved or tilted up or down, the Auto V-Keystone feature automatically corrects vertical keystone distortion. This works for projection angles up to 30° up or down when the Projection setting is set to Front.

Using the Keystone Buttons:

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Press one of the keystone adjustment buttons on the control panel to display the Keystone adjustment screen.

3. Press the keystone buttons to adjust the vertical (V-Keystone) and horizontal (H-Keystone) shape until it is rectangular. This can correct images up to 30° right, left, up, or down.

Using Quick Corner:

For more precise adjustments, use the Quick Corner setting to correct the shape and size of an unevenly rectangular image.

1. Turn on the projector and press the [Menu] button.

2. Select the Settings menu and press [Enter].

3. Select Keystone and press [Enter].

4. Select Quick Corner and press [Enter]. An area selection screen appears.

5. Use the arrow buttons to select the corner of the image you want to adjust, then press [Enter].

6. Press the arrow buttons to adjust the image shape as necessary. To return to the corner selection screen, press [Enter].

7. Repeat for any remaining corners. When finished, press [Esc].

To correct a blurry or fuzzy image on your EPSON EB-X06:

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Rotate the focus ring on the projector lens until the image is sharp and clear.

When multiple image sources (like a computer and a video player) are connected to your EPSON EB-X06, you can switch between them using one of the following methods:

• Source Search Button: Press the [Source Search] button on the control panel or remote control. The projector will cycle through the active inputs until you see the image from the source you want.

• Source-Specific Buttons: Press the button for the source you want on the remote control (e.g., [Computer], [HDMI], [USB]).

• Home Screen: Press the [Home] button on the control panel or remote control, then select the source you want to use from the list displayed on the screen.

You can change the aspect ratio (the width-to-height ratio) of the displayed image on your EPSON EB-X06 to fit your screen.

1. Turn on the projector and switch to the image source you want to use.

2. Press the [Aspect] button on the remote control.

3. The shape and size of the image will change, and the name of the new aspect ratio will appear on the screen.

4. To cycle through the available aspect ratios for your input signal, press the [Aspect] button repeatedly.

For the EPSON EB-X06 with XGA (1024 × 768) resolution, available aspect modes typically include:

• Auto: Automatically sets the aspect ratio according to the input signal.
• Normal: Displays images using the full projection area while maintaining the original aspect ratio.
• 4:3: Converts the aspect ratio of the image to 4:3.
• 16:9: Converts the aspect ratio of the image to 16:9, often adding black bars to the top and bottom.

You can optimize the image from your EPSON EB-X06 for your viewing environment by changing the Color Mode.

Using the Remote Control:

1. Turn on the projector and switch to the desired image source.

2. Press the [Color Mode] button on the remote control.

3. Press the [Color Mode] button repeatedly to cycle through the available modes.

Available Color Modes:

• Dynamic: The brightest mode, best for prioritizing brightness in a well-lit room.
• Presentation: Best for projecting vivid images, such as in presentations.
• Cinema: Best for enjoying content such as movies, with balanced colors.
• sRGB: Best for faithfully reproducing the color of the source image.
• Blackboard: Best for projecting images directly on a green chalkboard.

You can also set the Color Mode and make further adjustments (like brightness, contrast, etc.) in the projector’s Image menu.

You can control the volume of the projector’s internal speaker system or any connected external speakers.

1. Turn on the projector and start a presentation or play media with audio.

2. To lower or raise the volume, press the [Volume] buttons on the control panel or the remote control. A volume gauge will appear on the screen.

To set the volume to a specific level for a particular input source, you can select Volume in the projector’s Settings menu.

Caution: Do not start a presentation at a high volume setting. Sudden loud noises may cause hearing loss. Always lower the volume before powering off.

If you want to redirect your audience’s attention during a presentation without turning the projector off, you can use the A/V Mute feature.

• To stop projection: Press the [A/V Mute] button on the remote control or close the A/V Mute slide lever on the projector. The image and sound will turn off, but any video or audio action will continue to run in the background.

• To resume projection: Press the [A/V Mute] button again or open the A/V Mute slide lever.

Note that the lamp is still operating during A/V Mute, and the lamp hours continue to accumulate. The projector will automatically turn off after 30 minutes of A/V Mute unless this timer is disabled in the ECO menu.

You can temporarily stop the action in a video or computer presentation and keep the current image on the screen using the Freeze function.

1. Press the [Freeze] button on the remote control to stop the video action and hold the current frame on the screen.

2. To restart the video action, press the [Freeze] button again.

Note that any sound or video action from the source continues to run in the background while the image is frozen.

You can zoom in or out of the projected image using the [E-Zoom] buttons on the remote control.

Zooming In:

1. Press the [E-Zoom] + button on the remote control. The image is enlarged, focusing on the center.

2. To continue zooming in, press the [E-Zoom] + button repeatedly (up to four times).

3. To pan around the zoomed image, use the arrow buttons.

4. To zoom out, press the [E-Zoom] – button.

Zooming Out:

1. Press the [E-Zoom] – button on the remote control. The projected image is reduced.

2. To continue zooming out, press the [E-Zoom] – button repeatedly (down to 50%).

3. To move the zoomed-out image in the projection area, use the arrow buttons.

To return to the original image size from either zoomed-in or zoomed-out state, press the [Default] button.

You can save an image (like a photo or company logo) to be displayed when the EPSON EB-X06 turns on or is not receiving a signal. This can also help deter theft.

1. Display the image you want to project as the user’s logo.

2. Press the [Menu] button, select the Extended menu, and press [Enter].

3. Select User’s Logo > Start Setting and press [Enter]. A prompt will ask if you want to use the displayed image.

4. Select Yes and press [Enter].

5. Check the displayed image, and then select Yes again to save it. A completion message will be displayed.

6. Press [Esc] to exit the message screen.

After saving, you can go to the Extended > Display menu to set when you want the logo to appear (e.g., as the Display Background, Startup Screen, or for A/V Mute).

You can lock the buttons on the projector’s control panel to prevent anyone from using them. The projector can still be operated using the remote control.

To Lock the Buttons:

1. Press the [Menu] button on the control panel or remote control.

2. Select the Settings menu and press [Enter].

3. Select Lock Setting > Control Panel Lock, and press [Enter].

4. Select one of these lock types and press [Enter]:

• Full Lock: Locks all of the projector’s buttons.

• Partial Lock: Locks all buttons except the power button.

5. Select Yes and press [Enter]. The Control Panel Lock setting takes effect.

To Unlock the Buttons:

Do one of the following to unlock them:

• Hold down the [Enter] button on the control panel for 7 seconds. A message is displayed and the lock is released.

• Select Off as the Control Panel Lock setting in the projector’s Settings menu using the remote control.

To project wirelessly from your EPSON EB-X06, you first need to install the optional wireless LAN module (ELPAP11) and configure the network settings.

Installing the Wireless LAN Module:

1. If your model requires a cover over the USB-A port, use a screwdriver to remove the screw and the cover.

2. Connect the wireless LAN module to the projector’s USB-A port.

3. If applicable, re-attach the cover and secure it with the screw.

Selecting Wireless Network Settings Manually:

1. Press the [Menu] button, select the Network menu, and press [Enter].

2. Set Wireless LAN Power to On.

3. Select Network Configuration and press [Enter].

4. Select the Wireless LAN menu and press [Enter].

5. Select the Connection Mode:

• Quick: The projector acts as an access point for direct connection to devices.

• Advanced: The projector connects to an existing wireless network access point.

6. If using Advanced mode, select Search Access Point to find and select your network’s SSID.

7. Configure other settings like IP settings and security (WPA2-PSK) to match your network.

8. When you finish, select Complete and follow the on-screen instructions to save your settings and exit.

You can control the EPSON EB-X06 from an external device using ESC/VP21 commands via the USB-B port (acting as a serial connection). Add a Carriage Return (CR) code (0Dh) to the end of each command and transmit.

You can copy menu settings from one EPSON EB-X06 projector to another of the same model using a USB cable and a computer. This process is called Batch Setup.

Saving Settings from a Projector to a Computer:

1. Disconnect the power cord from the projector.

2. Connect a USB cable to the computer’s USB port and the projector’s USB-B port.

3. Hold down the [Esc] button on the remote or control panel, and then connect the power cord to the projector.

4. When the projector’s indicators turn on, release the [Esc] button. The computer recognizes the projector as a removable disk.

5. Open the removable disk folder and save the batch setup file (PJCONFDATA.bin) to your computer.

6. Eject the USB device from your computer and disconnect the USB cable. The projector turns off.

Writing Settings from a Computer to a Projector:

1. Disconnect the power cord from the target projector.

2. Connect the USB cable from the computer to the target projector’s USB-B port.

3. Hold down the [Menu] button on the remote or control panel, and then connect the power cord to the projector.

4. When the projector’s indicators turn on, release the [Menu] button. The computer recognizes the projector as a removable disk.

5. Copy the saved batch setup file (PJCONFDATA.bin) from your computer to the top-level folder of the removable disk.

6. Eject the USB device from your computer and disconnect the USB cable. The indicators will flash as the settings are written. When finished, the projector turns off.

Caution: Do not disconnect the power cord while the file is being written, as the projector may not start correctly.

Regular maintenance will keep your EPSON EB-X06 working at its best. Before cleaning any part, turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

Cleaning the Lens:

• To remove dust or smudges, gently wipe the lens with lens-cleaning paper.

• For stubborn smudges, moisten a soft, lint-free cloth with lens cleaner and gently wipe the lens. Do not spray liquid directly on the lens.

Cleaning the Projector Case:

• Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to remove dust and dirt.

• For stubborn dirt, use a soft cloth moistened with water and mild soap. Do not spray liquid directly on the projector.

Cleaning the Air Filter and Vents:

It is important to clean the air filter and vents to prevent overheating. Clean them when you see a high temperature warning message or after approximately 6,000 hours of use.

1. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

2. Use a small vacuum designed for computers or a very soft brush to gently remove dust from the vents and the air filter cover.

3. If dust is difficult to remove or the filter is damaged, you must replace it.

You need to replace the air filter (model ELPAF32) on your EPSON EB-X06 if you see a message prompting you to do so after cleaning, or if the filter is torn or damaged.

1. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

2. Open the air filter cover, located on the side of the projector.

3. Pull the old air filter out of the projector.

4. Place the new air filter into the projector as shown in the manual and push gently until it clicks into place.

5. Close the air filter cover.

Replace the lamp (model ELPLP97) on your EPSON EB-X06 as soon as possible when one of the following occurs:

• The projected image gets darker or image quality declines.

• A lamp replacement message appears when you turn on the projector.

• The projector’s lamp indicator flashes orange and the power indicator flashes blue.

Steps for Replacing the Lamp:

1. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

2. Allow the lamp to cool for at least one hour to avoid injury.

3. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw securing the lamp cover on the top of the projector.

4. Slide the lamp cover out and lift it off.

5. Loosen the screws securing the lamp to the projector. These screws will not come all the way out.

6. Grip the raised section of the lamp and carefully pull it straight out.

7. Gently insert the new lamp. If it does not fit easily, make sure it is facing the right way.

8. Push the lamp in firmly and tighten the screws to secure it.

9. Replace the lamp cover and tighten the screw to secure it.

After replacing the lamp, you must reset the lamp timer.

After you replace the projector’s lamp, you must reset the lamp timer to clear the replacement message and accurately monitor the new lamp’s usage.

1. Turn on the projector.

2. Press the [Menu] button, select the Reset menu, and press [Enter].

3. Select Reset Lamp Hours and press [Enter].

4. A prompt will ask if you want to reset the lamp hours. Select Yes and press [Enter].

5. Press [Menu] or [Esc] to exit the menus.

Note: Do not reset the lamp timer if you have not replaced the lamp, as this will result in inaccurate lamp usage information.

The status, lamp, and temperature indicators on your EPSON EB-X06 provide information about its status and can help diagnose problems.

If the indicators display a pattern not listed here, turn the projector off, unplug it, and contact Epson for help.

If no image appears from your EPSON EB-X06, try the following solutions:

• Make sure the lens cover (A/V Mute slide) is fully open.

• Press the [A/V Mute] button on the remote to see if the image was temporarily turned off.

• Ensure all necessary cables are securely connected and that both the projector and the video source are powered on.

• Press the projector’s power button to wake it from standby or sleep mode.

• Press the [Source Search] button on the remote or control panel.

• If the control panel buttons do not respond, they may be locked. Use the remote control or unlock the buttons in the Settings menu.

• Adjust the Brightness setting in the Image menu.

• Select High or Medium for the Power Consumption setting in the ECO menu.

If the projected image is fuzzy or blurry, try these solutions:

• Adjust the image focus by rotating the focus ring on the lens.

• Position the projector closer to the screen.

• Position the projector so that the keystone adjustment angle is not too wide, as extreme angles can soften parts of the image.

• Clean the projector lens using appropriate lens-cleaning supplies.

• To avoid condensation on the lens after bringing the projector in from a cold environment, let it warm up to room temperature before use.

If the projector does not turn on or shuts off unexpectedly, try the following:

• Ensure the power cord is securely connected to both the projector and a working electrical outlet.

• If using the remote, check the batteries.

• The projector’s buttons may be locked. Use the remote control or unlock the buttons.

• The projector may have entered sleep mode after a period of inactivity. Press a button to wake it. You can disable Sleep Mode in the ECO menu.

• The A/V Mute Timer or Lens Cover Timer may have turned the projector off after 30 minutes of inactivity. Disable these timers in the ECO menu if needed.

• Check the projector’s indicator lights. If the temperature indicator is lit, the projector has overheated and needs to cool down. Check for blocked vents.

• The power cord itself may be defective. If other solutions fail, contact Epson for help.

The distance at which you place the EPSON EB-X06 from the screen determines the image size. The following table provides approximate distances for common screen sizes in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Distances are in centimeters.

Note: The vertical offset is the distance from the center of the lens to the base of the screen. A negative value means the bottom of the image is below the center of the lens.
