The front of the EPSON EB-FH52 has several key components:

• Air exhaust vent: Exhausts hot air used to cool the projector internally. Do not look into this vent or place objects near it, as hot air could cause burns or warping.
• A/V Mute slide lever: Slides to open and close the lens cover.
• Foot release lever: Press to extend and retract the front adjustable foot.
• Lens cover: Protects the lens when not in use. Closing it during projection hides the image and sound.
• Front adjustable foot: Extends to adjust the vertical position of the image.

For optimal performance of your EPSON EB-FH52, follow these placement guidelines:

1. Place the projector on a sturdy, level surface or install it using a compatible ceiling mount.

2. Ensure there is plenty of space around and under the projector for proper ventilation. Do not place it on top of or next to anything that could block the vents.

3. Position the projector so it squarely faces the screen, not at an angle. If you cannot place it squarely, use the keystone correction features, but for the best image quality, physical adjustment is recommended.

4. Avoid locations with high levels of dust, humidity, smoke, or steam, as these can cause damage or be a fire hazard.

5. Do not cover the air intake or exhaust vents. This can cause the internal temperature to rise, creating a fire risk.

To connect your computer to the EPSON EB-FH52 using a VGA cable for video and a separate cable for audio, follow these steps:

1. Connect one end of the VGA computer cable to your computer’s monitor port.

2. Connect the other end of the VGA cable to a Computer port on the projector.

3. Tighten the screws on the VGA connector to secure it.

4. For audio, connect a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack audio cable to your laptop’s headphone jack or your desktop’s audio-out port.

5. Connect the other end of the audio cable to the Audio port on the projector that corresponds to the Computer port you are using.

You can send both video and audio from your computer to the EPSON EB-FH52 using a single USB cable. This function is called USB Display.

1. Connect the square end of a USB cable to the projector’s USB-B port.

2. Connect the other end of the cable to any available USB port on your computer. Avoid using a USB hub.

3. Turn on the projector and your computer.

4. The first time you connect, you will need to install the Epson USB Display software. Follow the on-screen prompts to run the installer (e.g., Run EMP_UDSE.EXE on Windows or use USB Display Installer on Mac).

5. Follow any on-screen instructions. Do not disconnect the cable or turn off the projector until an image is displayed.

The projector will then display the image from your computer’s desktop and output any audio from your presentation.

Connecting via HDMI sends both high-quality video and audio to your EPSON EB-FH52 through a single cable.

1. Make sure your computer or video device is turned off before connecting to avoid potential damage.

2. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to your computer’s or video source’s HDMI output port.

3. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to one of the projector’s HDMI ports (HDMI1 or HDMI2).

4. You can now turn on your devices and select the correct HDMI source on the projector.

If you experience problems with audio through the HDMI connection, you can connect a separate 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack audio cable from your device’s audio out port to the projector’s Audio port. You will then need to select the correct audio input port in the projector’s Extended menu.

You can project images and other content directly from a USB device like a flash drive or digital camera without needing a computer. This feature is known as PC Free.

1. If your USB device has its own power adapter, plug it into an electrical outlet.

2. Connect the USB cable or USB flash drive to the projector’s USB-A port.

3. If using a cable with a device like a digital camera, connect the other end to your device.

After connecting the device, you can use the projector’s remote to select the USB source and navigate your files for projection.

To disconnect a USB device:

1. Turn off and unplug the device, if necessary.

2. Disconnect the USB device from the projector.

The remote control for your EPSON EB-FH52 uses two AA batteries. Follow these steps to install or replace them:

1. Press the tab on the battery cover and slide it off.

2. Remove the old batteries, if any are present.

3. Insert the two new AA batteries, making sure to align the + and – ends correctly with the markings inside the battery holder.

4. Replace the battery cover and press it down until it clicks securely into place.

Turning On the Projector:

1. Connect the power cord to the projector’s power inlet and plug the other end into an electrical outlet. The power indicator will turn blue, indicating standby mode.

2. Open the projector’s lens cover by sliding the A/V Mute slide lever.

3. Press the power button on the control panel or the remote control. The projector will beep, and the status indicator will flash blue as it warms up. Once warmed up, the status indicator will stop flashing and turn solid blue.

4. Turn on your connected computer or video source.

Turning Off the Projector:

1. Press the power button on the control panel or remote control.

2. A shutdown confirmation screen will appear. Press the power button again to confirm. To cancel, press any other button.

3. The projected image will disappear, the projector will beep twice, and the status indicator will turn off. Thanks to Epson’s Instant Off technology, there is no cool-down period required.

4. To transport the projector, ensure the power indicator is blue (not flashing) and the status indicator is off, then unplug the power cord.

5. Close the projector’s lens cover.

You may need to change the projection mode if you have mounted the EPSON EB-FH52 on a ceiling or are projecting from behind a screen. You can change this setting in the projector’s menu.

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Press the [Menu] button on the control panel or remote control.

3. Select the Extended menu and press [Enter].

4. Select Projection and press [Enter].

5. Select the appropriate projection mode and press [Enter]:

• Front: The default setting for projecting from a table in front of the screen.
• Front/Ceiling: Flips the image top-to-bottom for ceiling-mounted projection.
• Rear: Flips the image horizontally for projecting from behind a translucent screen.
• Rear/Ceiling: Flips the image both top-to-bottom and horizontally for ceiling-mounted rear projection.

6. Press [Menu] or [Esc] to exit the menus.

If your projected image is wider at the top or bottom (vertical keystone) or on the sides (horizontal keystone), you can correct it using several methods on your EPSON EB-FH52.

Automatic Vertical Keystone Correction (Auto V-Keystone):

When the projector is tilted up or down, the Auto V-Keystone feature automatically corrects vertical distortion. This works for projection angles up to 30º up or down when the Projection setting is set to Front.

Horizontal Keystone Slider:

If the projector is placed off to the side of the screen, use the physical horizontal keystone slider on top of the projector to correct the image shape until it is an even rectangle. This is effective for angles up to 30º right or left.

Keystone Buttons (Manual Correction):

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Press one of the keystone adjustment buttons on the control panel to display the Keystone adjustment screen.

3. Use the keystone buttons to adjust the V-Keystone (vertical) and H-Keystone (horizontal) settings until the image is rectangular.

Quick Corner Adjustment:

For more precise adjustments, you can use Quick Corner to adjust each of the four corners of the image independently.

1. Press the [Menu] button.

2. Select the Settings menu and press [Enter].

3. Select Keystone and press [Enter].

4. Select Quick Corner and press [Enter].

5. Use the arrow buttons to select a corner you want to adjust, then press [Enter].

6. Use the arrow buttons to move the selected corner to the correct position.

7. Repeat for the other corners as needed. Press [Esc] when finished.

You can adjust the size and sharpness of the projected image on your EPSON EB-FH52 using the manual rings on the lens.

Resizing the Image:

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Locate the zoom ring around the lens.

3. Rotate the zoom ring to enlarge or reduce the image to the desired size.

Focusing the Image:

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Locate the focus ring around the lens.

3. Rotate the focus ring until the image appears sharp and clear.

You can optimize the image for your viewing environment by changing the Color Mode on the EPSON EB-FH52. This can be done easily using the remote control.

1. Turn on the projector and switch to the image source you want to use.

2. Press the [Color Mode] button on the remote control.

3. The name of the current Color Mode appears briefly on the screen. Press the [Color Mode] button repeatedly to cycle through the available modes for your input signal.

The available color modes are:

• Dynamic: The brightest mode, best for prioritizing brightness.
• Presentation: Best for projecting vivid images.
• Cinema: Best for enjoying content such as movies.
• sRGB: Best for faithfully reproducing the color of the source image.
• Blackboard: Best for projecting images directly on a green chalkboard.

The split screen feature on your EPSON EB-FH52 allows you to simultaneously project two images from different sources.

1. Press the [Split] button on the remote control. The currently selected input source moves to the left side of the screen.

2. The Split Screen Setup menu appears. Select the Source setting to choose an input source for the right side of the screen. Select the desired source, select Execute, and press [Enter]. Note that some input source combinations cannot be combined (e.g., HDMI1 and HDMI2).

3. You can adjust the split screen display using the menu:

• Screen Size: Enlarge one image while reducing the other.
• Swap Screens: Swap the images on the left and right.
• Audio Source: Select which source provides the audio.

4. To exit the split screen feature, press the [Split] or [Esc] button.

Note that while using split screen, certain features like E-Zoom and aspect mode switching are unavailable.

The EPSON EB-FH52 offers several security features to deter theft and prevent unauthorized use.

Password Protection:

You can set a password to prevent unauthorized use of the projector or changes to settings.

1. To access the password menu, hold down the [Freeze] button on the remote control for about 5 seconds.

2. Select Password and press [Enter].

3. Select Yes to change the password. The default is “0000”.

4. Hold down the [Num] button and use the numeric buttons to enter a new four-digit password. Enter it again to confirm.

5. Once a password is set, you can enable different types of protection, such as Power On Protection, User’s Logo Protection, or Network Protection.

Locking the Projector’s Buttons (Control Panel Lock):

You can lock the buttons on the projector’s control panel to prevent operation.

1. Press the [Menu] button.

2. Navigate to Settings > Lock Setting > Control Panel Lock.

3. Select Full Lock (locks all buttons) or Partial Lock (locks all except the power button).

4. To unlock, hold down the [Enter] button on the control panel for 7 seconds or disable the lock in the menu.

Installing a Security Cable:

You can use the security slot on the projector to attach a Kensington-compatible security cable to physically secure the projector and deter theft.

Your EPSON EB-FH52 has built-in wireless LAN for network projection and screen mirroring from mobile devices using Miracast technology.

Setting Up Screen Mirroring:

1. Press the [Menu] button, select the Network menu, and press [Enter].

2. Select On as the Screen Mirroring setting.

3. Select Screen Mirroring Settings and press [Enter]. Here you can set the projector’s display name and other connection settings.

Connecting with a Miracast-Enabled Device:

1. On the projector, press the [LAN] button on the remote control to switch to the Screen Mirroring source. The Screen Mirroring standby screen is displayed.

2. On your mobile device (smartphone, tablet, or laptop), use its Miracast function to search for wireless displays.

3. Select the projector’s Display Name from the list of available devices.

4. If a PIN entry screen appears on your device, enter the PIN code displayed on the projector’s standby screen.

5. The projector will then display the image from your mobile device.

Regular maintenance will keep your EPSON EB-FH52 working at its best. Before cleaning, always turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

Cleaning the Lens:

• To remove dust, gently wipe the lens with lens-cleaning paper.
• For stubborn smudges, moisten a soft, lint-free cloth with lens cleaner and gently wipe the lens. Do not spray liquid directly on the lens.

Cleaning the Projector Case:

• Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to remove dust and dirt.
• For stubborn dirt, use a soft cloth lightly moistened with water and mild soap.

Cleaning the Air Filter and Vents:

Clean the air filter when you see a message about the projector’s temperature, or if it becomes visibly dusty.

1. Turn off the projector and unplug it.

2. Use a small vacuum designed for computers or a very soft brush to gently remove dust from the air filter cover and vents.

3. If the filter is very dusty, open the air filter cover, remove the filter, and clean it. You can remove the filter to clean both sides.

4. If the filter is damaged or cannot be cleaned, it must be replaced.

Replace the lamp as soon as possible when the image gets darker, or when the projector displays a lamp replacement message.

1. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

2. Allow the lamp to cool for at least one hour to avoid injury.

3. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw securing the lamp cover on the side of the projector.

4. Slide the lamp cover out and lift it off.

5. Loosen the two screws securing the lamp to the projector. These screws will not come all the way out.

6. Grip the raised section of the lamp and carefully pull it straight out.

7. Gently insert the new lamp (model ELPLP97). Make sure it is facing the right way and fits easily.

8. Push the lamp in firmly and tighten the two screws to secure it.

9. Replace the lamp cover and tighten the screw to secure it.

10. After replacing the lamp, you must reset the lamp timer.

After replacing the lamp on your EPSON EB-FH52, you must reset the lamp usage timer to clear the replacement message and accurately monitor the new lamp’s usage.

1. Turn on the projector.

2. Press the [Menu] button on the remote control.

3. Select the Reset menu and press [Enter].

4. Select Reset Lamp Hours and press [Enter].

5. A confirmation prompt will appear. Select Yes and press [Enter].

6. Press [Menu] or [Esc] to exit the menus.

The indicator lights on your EPSON EB-FH52 provide information about its status and can help diagnose problems.

Wireless LAN Status:

• Lit blue: Wireless LAN is available.
• Flashing blue (quickly): Connecting to a device.
• Flashing blue (slowly): An error has occurred. Turn the projector off and restart it.
• Off: Wireless LAN is not available. Check settings.

If no image is projected from your EPSON EB-FH52, try the following solutions:

• Ensure the lens cover is fully open.
• Press the [A/V Mute] button on the remote control to see if the image was temporarily turned off.
• Check that all cables are securely connected to both the projector and the video source.
• Make sure the connected computer or video source is turned on and is not in sleep mode or displaying a screen saver.
• Press the projector’s power button to wake it from standby or sleep mode.
• Press the [Source Search] button on the remote control to detect the input signal.
• Check that the control panel buttons are not locked. If they are, use the remote control or unlock the buttons in the menu.
• Adjust the Brightness setting in the Image menu.
• Select High or Medium for the Power Consumption setting in the ECO menu.

If the projected image from your EPSON EB-FH52 is out of focus, fuzzy, or blurry, try these solutions:

• Adjust the focus ring on the projector’s lens until the image is sharp.
• Position the projector at an appropriate distance from the screen for the desired image size.
• If you have used keystone correction, try to reduce the angle of correction. A wider angle can make it harder to focus the entire image. Reposition the projector if possible.
• Clean the projector lens. Smudges or dust on the lens can cause a blurry image.
• If you are projecting from a computer via a VGA cable, press the [Auto] button on the remote control. If blurriness remains, manually adjust the Tracking and Sync. settings in the Signal menu.
• To avoid condensation, let the projector warm up to room temperature before use if it has been brought in from a cold environment.

If your EPSON EB-FH52 powers down unexpectedly, check the following possible causes:

• Overheating: The projector may have overheated and shut down to protect itself. Check the indicator lights. If the temperature indicator is lit, ensure the air vents are not blocked and the air filter is clean. Let the projector cool down for several minutes before turning it back on.
• Sleep Mode: The projector may have entered sleep mode after a period of inactivity. Press the power button or perform any operation to wake it. You can disable this feature by setting Sleep Mode to Off in the ECO menu.
• A/V Mute Timer or Lens Cover Timer: If the image was muted or the lens cover was closed for an extended period (usually 30 minutes), the projector may shut down automatically. You can disable these timers in the ECO menu.
• Lamp Issue: Check the lamp indicator. If it is lit or flashing, the lamp may need to be replaced.
• Power Cord: The power cord could be loose or defective. Ensure it is securely connected. If the problem persists, the cord may need to be replaced.
