The control panel (B1) features the following buttons and indicators:

B2: ON/OFF button: Turns the machine on and off.

B3: 1 cup button: Selects making one cup of coffee.

B4: 2 cups button: Selects making two cups of coffee.

B5: Steam button: Selects the steam function.

B6: Coffee taste selection dial: Adjusts the coffee strength/taste from MIN to MAX.

B7: Descaling light: Lights up or flashes when the machine needs descaling.

B8: Coffee grounds container light: Lights up when the grounds container needs emptying.

B9: Water tank light: Lights up when the water tank is empty or needs to be inserted correctly.

ECO light: Indicates that the energy-saving ECO mode is active.

Empty water tank symbol: Indicates the water tank is empty.

Empty grounds container symbol: Indicates the grounds container is full.

General alarm symbol: Indicates a general malfunction.

The machine comes with the following accessories:

C1: Water hardness test strip: Used to test the hardness of your water.

C2: Pre-ground coffee measure: Used to measure the correct amount of pre-ground coffee.

C3: Descaler: Solution used for the descaling process.

C4: Cappuccino maker: Attachment for frothing milk (if provided with your model).

Follow these steps for the initial setup:

1. Plug the machine into the mains socket (1A).

2. Turn on the main switch located on the back or side of the machine (1B).

3. Place a container under the hot water/steam nozzle (2).

4. Turn the steam dial as indicated (3).

5. Press the ON/OFF button (B2). The control panel lights will illuminate (4).

6. The machine will heat up and perform an automatic rinse cycle, dispensing some water from the hot water spout (5). Wait for this to complete.

7. The water tank light (B9) may come on (6). The ECO light may also be on (7).

8. Remove the water tank (A7), fill it with about 0.5 liters of fresh water (8), and reinsert it fully into the machine (10, 11, 12).

9. (Optional) If using a water filter, activate and install it in the water tank according to the filter instructions (9).

10. Open the bean container lid (A3) and fill the container (A4) with coffee beans (13).

11. Close the bean container lid (14).

12. Place one or two cups under the coffee spout (A15) (15).

13. Adjust the height of the coffee spout so it is as close to the cups as possible (16).

The machine is now ready for use.

1. Ensure the machine is on, the water tank (A7) is filled, and the bean container (A4) has beans.

2. Place one or two cups under the adjustable coffee spout (A15) (15, 16).

3. Turn the coffee taste selection dial (B6) to choose your desired coffee strength, from MIN (mild) to MAX (strong) (18).

4. Press the 1 cup button (B3) to make one coffee or the 2 cups button (B4) to make two coffees (17).

5. The machine will grind the beans, pre-infuse, and then deliver the coffee into the cup(s).

6. Wait for the delivery to complete before removing the cup(s).

1. Ensure the machine is on and ready.

2. Turn the coffee taste selection dial (B6) to the pre-ground coffee position (often indicated by a spoon symbol, check specific markings). *Note: Image 18 shows adjusting taste dial, but image 19 shows using the funnel, implying selection might be needed.*

3. Lift the lid of the pre-ground coffee funnel (A5).

4. Place one measure (using accessory C2) of pre-ground coffee into the funnel (A6) (19).

5. Place a cup under the coffee spout (A15).

6. Press the 1 cup button (B3). *Note: Usually, only one cup can be made with pre-ground coffee per cycle.*

7. The machine will deliver the coffee.

Important: Only add pre-ground coffee when the machine is ready to make coffee and never add more than one measure at a time to avoid damaging the machine.

Turn the coffee taste selection dial (B6) on the control panel (18). Rotate it towards MIN for a milder taste (less coffee ground) or towards MAX for a stronger taste (more coffee ground). Adjust the dial before pressing the coffee button.

The coffee grinding adjustment dial (A2) is located inside the bean container. It should only be adjusted when the coffee mill is in operation (grinding). Turn the dial one click at a time. Turning towards ‘A’ (coarser, indicated by larger dots in image 32) is generally for lighter roasts or if coffee delivery is too slow. Turning towards ‘B’ (finer, indicated by smaller dots in image 32) is generally for darker roasts or if coffee delivery is too fast/watery. The effect of the adjustment will be noticeable after delivering 2-3 coffees.

1. First, prepare the espresso coffee as usual into a large enough cup.

2. Press the steam button (B5). Wait for the indicator light to become steady, signifying the correct temperature is reached.

3. Fill a container with about 100ml of cold milk for each cappuccino you want to make.

4. Immerse the nozzle of the cappuccino maker (A1/C4) into the milk (20).

5. Turn the steam dial (similar to step 3/21/22) to release steam. Froth the milk by moving the container with slow upward and downward movements until the desired froth is obtained.

6. Once frothed, stop the steam delivery by turning the steam dial back to the off position.

7. Add the frothed milk to the previously prepared espresso.

8. Clean the cappuccino maker nozzle immediately after use.

1. Ensure the machine is on.

2. Press the steam button (B5). Wait for the corresponding light to indicate the machine is ready.

3. Place a container under the cappuccino maker/steam nozzle (A1/A17).

4. Turn the steam dial (21, 22) to start delivering steam.

5. To stop steam delivery, turn the steam dial back to the off position.

Caution: The nozzle becomes hot during steam delivery.

1. Ensure the machine is on and ready.

2. Place a container under the hot water/steam nozzle (A17/A1) (23).

3. Turn the steam dial (similar to step 21/22) to the hot water position (refer to specific machine markings if different from steam).

4. Hot water will be delivered from the nozzle (23).

5. To stop delivery, turn the steam dial back to the off position.

Caution: The nozzle becomes hot during hot water delivery.

B7 (Descaling light): When lit steadily or flashing, it indicates the machine needs to be descaled (31).

B8 (Coffee grounds container light): When lit, it means the coffee grounds container (A11) is full and needs to be emptied (24).

B9 (Water tank light): When lit, it means the water tank (A7) is empty or not inserted correctly (6).

ECO light: When lit, the energy-saving mode is active (7).

Empty water tank symbol (Triangle with drops): Indicates the water tank is empty.

Empty grounds container symbol (Triangle with lines): Indicates the grounds container is full.

General alarm symbol (Exclamation mark in triangle): Indicates a general machine malfunction. Consult the manual for specific error interpretations.

When the grounds container light (B8) comes on, the container (A11) needs emptying.

1. Open the service door (A9/A16) on the front.

2. Remove the drip tray (A14) along with the grounds container (A11) (24).

3. Lift the grounds container out of the drip tray.

4. Empty the coffee grounds into a bin.

5. Clean the container, ensuring all residue is removed.

6. Place the grounds container back into the drip tray.

7. Reinsert the drip tray and grounds container assembly back into the machine until it clicks.

8. Close the service door.

Important: Always empty the grounds container with the machine turned ON. If you remove it while the machine is off, the counter may not reset.

1. The drip tray (A14) collects condensation and coffee drips. It should be emptied regularly and when the red water level indicator (A13) becomes visible through the cup tray (A12).

2. Open the service door (A9/A16).

3. Remove the drip tray and grounds container assembly together (25).

4. Remove the grounds container (A11) from the drip tray.

5. Empty the water from the drip tray.

6. Clean the drip tray and the cup tray (A12) grid.

7. Reassemble by placing the grounds container back into the drip tray.

8. Insert the assembly back into the machine and close the service door.

Regularly clean the coffee spout (A15) to ensure proper coffee flow. Wipe the outside with a damp cloth. Check the holes for any blockages and clean them carefully with a pin or needle if necessary (26 shows cleaning action near the spout).

Check periodically if the pre-ground coffee funnel (A6) is blocked.

1. Open the lid (A5).

2. Use a brush or a dry cloth to remove any coffee powder residue (27 shows cleaning action inside the funnel area).

3. Do not use water to clean the funnel while it’s in the machine.

1. Remove the water tank (A7) from the machine.

2. If a water filter is installed, remove it.

3. Clean the tank regularly (e.g., monthly) with a damp cloth and a little mild washing-up liquid (28 shows cleaning action inside the tank).

4. Rinse thoroughly.

5. Reinstall the water filter if used.

6. Fill with fresh water and reinsert the tank into the machine.

1. Turn the machine OFF using the ON/OFF button (B2) and then turn off the main switch (A18). Unplug the machine.

2. Open the infuser door (A9/A16).

3. Remove the drip tray and grounds container.

4. Use a brush or vacuum cleaner to remove coffee deposits from the accessible areas inside the machine (29 shows cleaning action in the cavity).

5. Do not use water inside the machine.

6. Reinsert the drip tray/grounds container and close the door.

The infuser (A10) should be cleaned at least once a month.

1. Make sure the machine is correctly turned off (use ON/OFF button B2, wait for shutdown, then turn off main switch A18).

2. Open the infuser door (A9/A16).

3. Remove the drip tray and grounds container.

4. Press the two red release buttons inwards and simultaneously pull the infuser outwards to remove it (30 shows removal).

5. Soak the infuser in water for about 5 minutes, then rinse under the tap. Do not use washing-up liquid.

6. Clean the internal housing where the infuser sits, using a brush or cloth to remove residue.

7. After cleaning, slide the infuser back into its housing until it clicks into place.

8. Reinsert the drip tray/grounds container and close the infuser door.

Descale the machine when the descaling light (B7) comes on or flashes (31). The frequency depends on water hardness. Use the De’Longhi descaler (C3) or a suitable descaler for coffee machines. Follow the detailed descaling instructions provided in the machine’s full instruction manual. The process typically involves adding descaler solution to the water tank, running cycles through the coffee and hot water/steam spouts, and then rinsing the system thoroughly with fresh water.
