Follow these steps to set up your DAKOTA ALERT DCHT-4000:

1. Install a 9V battery (not included).

2. Select a tune and connect your rubber hose transmitter to your receiver.

3. Position your rubber hose and the transmitter box.


How do I install the battery in the DAKOTA ALERT DCHT-4000 transmitter?

1. Open the transmitter box lid.

2. Connect a 9V battery (not included) to the snap connectors, then slide it into the battery slot.

3. Close the transmitter box lid.

Note: If you hear a second alert immediately after the first alert, and nothing has activated the transmitter again, the battery in the transmitter box is low and should be replaced.


How do I code the DAKOTA ALERT DCHT-4000 transmitter to my receiver?

Note: You can connect up to 16 transmitters to your receiver.

1. Place your receiver and rubber hose transmitter near each other.

2. Press and hold the MODE and ◄ (volume) buttons for three seconds. When all four lights flash, release the buttons.

3. Press ◄ (volume) repeatedly until you find the tune you want to use.

4. After you choose a tune, press the button inside the transmitter box to activate the transmitter. The receiver emits a short beep.

5. If you are coding more than one transmitter, repeat steps 3 and 4.

6. After your transmitter(s) are coded, press and hold the MODE button until the LEDs stop flashing.

7. To test the tune, press the button inside the transmitter box. You’ll hear the selected tune through your receiver and the lights will flash.

How should I position the DAKOTA ALERT DCHT-4000 rubber hose and transmitter?

1. Push the rubber hose onto the nozzle on the transmitter box.

2. Lay the rubber hose perpendicular across the driveway, then have a car drive across it to test it. You should hear an alert through your receiver.

3. Mount the transmitter box on a wooden post or a tree with two screws (not included). For the best results, the transmitter should be at least 4–5 feet (1.2–1.5 m) off the ground.

Note: Although the maximum range is about a mile, obstructions such as hills, trees, metal siding, and stucco can all reduce the range. Mounting the transmitter box on a metal post may interfere with the transmitter’s radio signal.
