What are the features of the A0304 Audio & IR Control CAT5 Transceiver Kit?
The features of the A0304 Audio & IR Control CAT5 Transceiver Kit include:
Easy to install and use
Transport audio from a bedroom back to your main entertainment system
Control the audio device in the bedroom from your entertainment room
Sends line-level audio over 1000 ft. of category cable
Compatible with Category 5, 5e, and 6 wiring
What are the inputs and outputs of the A0304 Input and Output Wall Plates?
For the A0304 Input Wall Plate, the connections are:
IR Receiver Input
IR Emitter Output
Audio Input
CAT5 Outputs (Use only one, not both)
For the A0304 Output Wall Plate, the connections are:
IR Receiver Input
Power Supply Input
Audio Input
Rear Power Input
Rear Power Loopout
CAT5 Outputs (Use only one, not both)
How is the A0304 installed?
To install the A0304:
Connect the power supply.
Use mounting screws to attach the A0304 to the low voltage ring.
Note that a standard decorator trim plate is not included.
Connect using CAT5 cable, with a maximum length of 1,000 feet.
Can the power for the A0304 be looped?
Yes, the power for the A0304 can be looped to allow one power supply to serve up to 10 units. The power supply can be connected in the front or the rear.
How is the A0304 used in a basic application with an audio source and amplifier?
In a basic application, an audio source (such as a CD player) located in a remote location is connected to the A0304 Input Wall Plate. The A0304 Input Wall Plate then connects via CAT5 cable (up to 1,000ft) to the A0304 Output Wall Plate. The A0304 Output Wall Plate then connects to an Audio Amplifier.
How can an additional IR receiver be connected for control?
An additional IR receiver can be connected to allow control of the audio device even if it is behind a closed cabinet door. A standalone IR receiver or an IR output from a whole-house IR system can also be connected.
How is the A0304 integrated in an advanced application with an audio distribution system (A4623 or A4603)?
When using the A0304 with the A4623 or A4603, connect the RCA outputs from the source to the “Input” jacks on the audio distribution system. Connect the “IR In” jack on the A0304 Output Wall Plate to any of the IR Emitter output jacks on the audio distribution system using an IR-4180 cable. This setup allows the remote audio source to be listened to and controlled from any of the audio zones. The IR receiver in the audio system keypads will pass IR signals back to the input wall plate.
What is the pin-out configuration for the A0304 using TIA568A standard?
The A0304 pin-out configuration for TIA568A is as follows:
| Pins | Signal |
|---|---|
| 1 | Left – |
| 2 | Left + |
| 3 | Right – |
| 4 | IR Signal |
| 5 | Ground |
| 6 | Right + |
| 7 | Ground |
| 8 | Power + |
How do I strip and connect CAT5 wire for the A0304?
To strip and connect CAT5 wire:
1. Place the CAT5 between the blade and the first notch of the J-110 tool (or similar proper stripping tool).
2. Rotate the tool only once. Multiple turns could damage the inner wires.
3. Inspect the inner wires for damage. If any wires are cut, start over at step 1.
What troubleshooting steps should I follow for CAT5 cable connection issues?
Be sure you have connected the CAT5 cable correctly. Follow the TIA-568A standard at both ends. Incorrect wiring can cause distorted sound or prevent the system from working at all.
What troubleshooting steps should I follow for speaker connection issues?
Be sure you have connected the speakers in phase. Follow the label on the product. Out of phase speakers can deprive the system of its bass, especially when driving dual-voice-coil speakers.
What troubleshooting steps should I follow for IR control issues?
If you are experiencing trouble with IR control:
Make sure your IR remote control can control the source device directly (not using the IR repeating system).
Verify that the IR emitter is providing a signal to your source device. Many IR emitters do not provide visible light. You can see these invisible IR signals if you look at the IR emitter through the view finder of a digital camera (it helps to turn the lights off).
For troubleshooting an external IR system: Some IR receivers have a feedback LED that flashes whenever IR signals are received. If the IR receiver you are using has this feature, check to make sure the LED flashes whenever you press buttons on your remote control. If you don’t see the feedback LED, try replacing the batteries in your remote control.
What are the wiring distance specifications for the A0304?
The maximum recommended wire length between the wall dock and output wall plate is 1,000 feet. Although the A0304 may work at longer distances, such extreme distances are not recommended because erratic performance may result due to the power loss caused by the CAT5 wire.
What are the technical specifications of the A0304?
The technical specifications for the A0304 are:
