The instrument panel cluster on your CADILLAC ESCALADE ESV 2005 provides important information about your vehicle’s operation. It is important to become familiar with these indicators to ensure your safety and prevent damage.

The controls for the heated front seats are on the driver and front passenger door panels. You can heat both the seatback and cushion, or just the seatback. Three heat settings are available.

To heat both the seatback and seat cushion:

Press and release the horizontal button until the indicator light shows your desired setting.

To heat the seatback only:

Press and release the vertical button until the indicator light shows your desired setting.

With the climate control seats, you can choose to heat or cool your seat. The seats will only operate in one mode at a time (heat or cool). Note that you may hear a fan running when the climate control seats are turned on, which is normal.

To operate the climate controlled seats, do the following:

Press the red heat button or the blue cool button.

Seatback Only: This is for the heat feature only. Press the seatback only button to cycle through high, medium, low, and off settings. Red indicator lights will glow for each setting: three for high, two for medium, and one for low. A light in the button also glows to indicate the seatback heat is on.

Entire Seat: Press this button to heat or cool the entire seat. It cycles through high, medium, low, and off. Red (for heat) or blue (for cool) indicator lights will glow for each setting: three for high, two for medium, and one for low.

To adjust lumbar support:

Press the front or rear of the control located on the side of the seat cushion near the door. Release at the preferred setting.

To adjust side bolster support:

Press the top or bottom of the lumbar control. Release at the preferred setting.

Outboard Heated Seat Cushions:

Use the button on the back of the center console to select a heat setting. Press once for High, twice for Low, and a third time to turn it off.

Recline the second-row bucket seatback(s):

Pull up the lever on the rear outboard side of the seat cushion. Release the lever to lock the seatback in place.

Return bucket seatback(s) to upright position:

Pull the seat lever and allow the seatback to move forward.

Fold either side of the second-row bench seat:

1. Pull up on the strap at the rear of the seat cushion and pull the cushion forward into an upright position.

2. Pull the seatback forward so that it folds down into a flat position. The head restraint will automatically fold flat. On ESV only, lift the lever at the base of the seat to release the passenger-side seatback.

Return seat to occupant position:

1. Lift and move the seatback into the upright position.

2. Return the cushion to the seating position until it latches.

3. Pull up on the seat cushion and forward on the seatback to ensure they are secure. On Escalade, pull head restraints upright. Ensure that driver-side seat belts are not under the seat cushions.

Use the second row easy entry/exit feature (ESV models):

The passenger’s side of the second row 60/40 bench seat has an easy entry/exit feature.

1. Lift the black release lever located on the bottom-back side of the seat.

2. Tilt the seatback toward the front of the vehicle (the seat will release).

3. Pull (or push if exiting the third row) the seat forward until it stops.

Fold second row bucket seats:

1. Pull up on the strap loop at the rear of the seat cushion and pull the seat cushion up and fold it forward.

2. Pull the seatback release lever upward and pull the seatback forward and fold it down until it is flat. (Note: On ESV models, you must first remove the headrest and store it on top of the seat cushion.)

3. Pull the headrest out from the seatback and slide the pins into the holes provided on top of the seat cushion.

Create a load floor on ESV models:

To create a load floor, release the load floor panels from the seatbacks by pushing forward on the latches. To return to normal, fold the panels back to cover the rear seat footwell area.

The safety belt is designed to lock during an accident. However, it will also lock if it is pulled out all the way during initial buckling. If the safety belt does lock, unbuckle it and allow it to retract fully; then pull it out and re-buckle the belt.

When on, the automatic interior dimming rearview mirror automatically dims to minimize glare from lights behind you when it’s dark outside.

Turn the self-dimming function on or off:

Press and hold the button labeled with a circle and a vertical line for approximately eight seconds.

Turn the outside temperature displays and compass readings on or off:

Press the same button (labeled with a circle and a vertical line) briefly.

Display temperature in °C or °F:

Press the button and hold for four seconds to toggle between °C and °F. Once the desired unit is displayed, release the button. Wait four seconds and the temperature will be displayed.

Adjustable Pedals:

The buttons are on the driver’s side door panel. The vehicle must be in Park (P) to operate.

Press the button closest to you to move the pedals closer to your body.

Press the button farthest from you to move the pedals away from your body.

Power Folding Mirrors:

1. Move the selector switch located above the mirror control to the center position.

2. Press the right side of the four-way control pad to fold the mirrors in.

3. Press the left side of the four-way control pad to fold the mirrors out.

If the mirrors have been folded manually, they must be moved through the power folding cycle three times to reset them in their tracks.

Your vehicle’s Tri-Zone system features dual-zone operation in the front and single-zone operation for rear passengers.

Front Dual-Zone Climate Control System:

For automatic operation, push the AUTO button and adjust the temperature knobs to the desired temperature. This will set the air delivery mode, fan speed, A/C, and recirculation functions automatically.

To set the same temperature for both driver and front passenger, press and hold the AUTO button for four seconds.

To manually select air distribution, press the MODE button until the desired source of air is indicated on the display.

To manually raise or lower fan speed, press the upper or lower portion of the FAN control button.

Additional Functions:

Recirculation Button: Recirculates interior air for maximum cooling. Will not operate in Defog, Defrost, or Floor mode.

Front Defrost Button: Clears the windshield and front side windows of fog/frost.

Rear Defrost Button: Clears the rear glass of fog/frost and activates heated outside rearview mirrors.

A/C Button: Turns the air conditioning system on and off.

Rear Automatic Climate Control System:

The rear system works like the front system. To use the rear seat controls located on the back of the center console, the driver’s overhead control must be in the AUX position. Otherwise, the front overhead control will adjust the rear settings.

The sunroof controls are located in the overhead console.

To close the sunroof:

Hold the front portion of the button down until the sunroof motor stops. The sunroof will tilt up slightly to seal. This is normal.

The heated and cooled cupholders work best for maintaining the temperature of an already hot or cold beverage. Use the provided beverage holders for best performance. Note that the vehicle must be running to use this feature. Caution: When using the “heat” selection, the beverage container may become hot to the touch.

To use the cupholders:

Press the top (red dot) of the switch to heat the cupholder.

Press the bottom (blue dot) of the switch to cool the cupholder.

Press the same switch again to turn off the cupholder.

Set the time:

Press and hold the HR button until the correct hour appears.

Press and hold the MN button until the correct minute appears.

Program radio station presets:

1. Turn the radio on.

2. Press BAND to select the band (AM, FM1/FM2/XM1/XM2).

3. Use the SEEK or TUNE knob to tune in the desired station.

4. Press AUTO EQ to select the desired digital signal processing (stored with the station).

5. Press and hold one of the six numbered buttons until a beep sounds, then release the button.

6. Repeat these steps for each station preset, using a different numbered button for each station.

Quick Load (Multiple CDs):

1. Press LOAD for two seconds. The lowest available number will flash.

2. Wait for the amber lights on the sides of the slot to flash before inserting a CD. The next available number will flash, ready to accept another CD.

3. To exit Quick Load, press either a number with a CD in it or the LOAD button again.

Quick Unload:

Press EJECT for two seconds; all CDs will eject from the highest number to the lowest.

Load 1 CD:

1. Press LOAD; all available numbers will flash amber.

2. Select the number desired.

3. Wait for amber lights to flash on the sides of the slot before inserting the CD.

4. Repeat to load more CDs.

Unload 1 CD:

1. Press EJECT.

2. Press the number for the desired CD.

Play a CD:

Option 1: Press the number for the CD desired in the six-disc CD changer (wait eight seconds).

Option 2: Press the 5/SIDE button on the radio face to scroll through CDs.

Select CD Track:

Option 1: Use the PREV/NEXT buttons on the radio.

Option 2: Use the SEEK arrows on the radio.

Option 3: Use the SEEK arrows on the steering wheel.

Your vehicle’s engine should be turned off while programming. Follow these steps to program up to three channels:

1. Press and hold down the two outside HomeLink buttons, releasing only when the indicator light begins to flash, after 20 seconds. Do not repeat this step to program a second or third transmitter.

2. Position the end of your hand-held transmitter about 1 to 3 inches (3 to 8 cm) away from the HomeLink buttons, keeping the indicator light in view.

3. Simultaneously press and hold both the desired button on HomeLink and the button on your hand-held transmitter. Do not release the buttons yet.

4. The indicator light will flash slowly at first and then rapidly after HomeLink successfully receives the frequency signal. Release both buttons.

5. Press and hold the newly trained HomeLink button. If the indicator light stays on constantly, programming is complete and your device should activate.

To program the remaining two HomeLink buttons, begin with Step 2. Do not repeat Step 1, as this will erase all programmed channels.

The steering wheel in your CADILLAC ESCALADE ESV 2005 has several controls for the audio system:

Personal Calling button: Activates Personal Calling and also acts as a “barge in” for voice mail.

PROG: Sequences through stored presets for AM, FM, and XM radio.

SOURCE (up/down arrows): Selects between AM, FM1, FM2, XM1, XM2 Satellite Radio, cassette, CD, in-dash 6-Disc CD Changer, and RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment).

SEEK (left/right arrows): Seeks radio stations or CD tracks.

VOL (up/down arrows): Adjusts the radio volume.

Cruise control allows you to maintain a speed of 25 mph or more without keeping your foot on the accelerator.

Setting Cruise Control:

1. Move the cruise control switch to on (|).

2. Attain the speed you want to cruise at.

3. Press in the Set button at the end of the multifunction lever.

4. Take your foot off the accelerator pedal.

5. The cruise symbol on the instrument cluster will illuminate.

Increasing Speed:

Method 1: Use the accelerator pedal to get to a higher speed, then press the Set button at the end of the lever.

Method 2: Press the resume/accelerate switch (+) to get to a higher speed, then release the switch.

Reducing Speed:

Press and hold the Set button at the end of the multifunction lever until you reach the desired lower speed, and then release it.

Turn off Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) and automatic headlamps:

Turn the exterior lamps knob (to the left of the steering wheel) to the OFF (O) position.

Activate the automatic headlamp system:

Turn the exterior lamps knob to AUTO. The system will turn the front and rear lamps on and off automatically based on outside light conditions.

Manually illuminate the parking lamps, taillamps, etc.:

Turn the exterior lamps knob to the parking lamp position.

Manually activate the headlamps and all exterior lights:

Turn the exterior lamps knob to the headlamp position.

Turn the fog lamps on or off:

Press the fog lamp button located on the left side of the instrument panel. An indicator lamp will illuminate when the fog lamps are on.

StabiliTrak® System:

StabiliTrak helps you maintain direction control. In some situations, like being stuck on slippery terrain where vehicle “rocking” is needed, you may need to limit StabiliTrak. To do this, press the StabiliTrak button on the instrument panel. This decreases Traction Control engagement and disables lateral and yaw sensors.

Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist (URPA):

This feature uses an audible chime and a visual display to indicate how close an object is to your rear bumper. To disable the system, such as for trailering, press the URPA on/off button located near the climate control system and radio.

Tire Pressure Monitor:

This system alerts you to a large change in tire pressure with a “CHECK TIRE PRESSURE” message on the instrument panel cluster. To reset the message, you must fill the tires with the correct amount of air. Pressing the cluster stem button or the Reset button on the steering wheel will temporarily eliminate the message, but it will reappear at the next vehicle start-up until the tire pressure is corrected.

To arm the system, lock the doors using the power door lock switch or the Keyless Entry System transmitter. The alarm is activated when the security symbol on the instrument panel goes off, which takes approximately 30 seconds.

To set memory positions for Driver 1 or 2:

1. Adjust the driver seat, including lumbar and side bolster.

2. Adjust the gas and brake pedals.

3. Adjust the outside rearview mirrors.

4. To store these settings, press and hold the Memory 1 or 2 button on the driver’s door until two chimes sound (about four seconds).

5. To set up for a second driver, repeat the process with the other memory button.

These settings are restored by briefly pressing the Memory 1 or 2 button on the driver’s door.

To set the Easy Exit Driver Seat Position:

1. Briefly press memory button 1 or 2.

2. Adjust the seat to the desired exit position.

3. Press and hold the exit button (with the driver icon) on the driver’s door until two chimes sound. Note: The “Seat Exit” feature must be set to “On” in the Driver Information Center for this to work.

You can customize many features of your CADILLAC ESCALADE ESV 2005. To scroll through and change the settings:

1. Press the Personalization button (labeled ‘i’) on the steering wheel.

2. Press the Select button (with a checkmark) to choose your desired setting for the displayed feature.

3. Press the Personalization button (‘i’) again to move to the next feature.

Press the Trip Information button (with a car icon) on the steering wheel to scroll through ODOMETER, TRIP A, TRIP B, TIRE PRESSURES, TIMER and ENGINE HOURS choices.

Odometer: Press the Trip Information button until ODOMETER appears on the display. This shows the total distance the vehicle has been driven.

Trip A / Trip B: Press the Trip Information button until TRIP A or TRIP B appears. This shows the current distance traveled since the last reset for that trip meter.

Reset Trip Information:

Method 1: While viewing TRIP A or TRIP B, press and hold the Select button (with a checkmark) for one second.

Method 2: While viewing TRIP A or TRIP B, press and hold the reset stem on the instrument cluster. If you press and hold the reset stem for four seconds, the display will show the distance traveled since the last ignition cycle for TRIP A or TRIP B.

Tire Pressures:

Press the Trip Information button until TIRE PRESSURES appears. This shows the tire pressure in psi or kPa. Press the select button (checkmark) to scroll through the tire pressures for the left front (LF), right front (RF), left rear (LR), and right rear (RR) tires.

Timer:

The DIC can be used as a timer. Press the Trip Information button until TIMER is displayed. Press the select button to start the timer. The timer will record up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds while the ignition is on.

Access Fuel Information:

Press the Fuel Information button (with a gas pump icon) to view the following:

RANGE: The remaining distance you can drive without refueling. (Cannot be reset.)

FUEL USED: The amount of fuel consumed in gallons.

AVG ECON: Your vehicle’s average miles per gallon based on current and past driving. To reset AVG ECON and FUEL USED, press and hold the select button for two seconds while in the Fuel Information menu.

ENGINE OIL LIFE: Displays the remaining percentage of oil life available in the engine.
