The instrument panel cluster on your CADILLAC ESCALADE 2005 provides important information about your vehicle’s operation. The lights and gauges include:

It is important to become familiar with these indicators to ensure your safety and prevent damage to your vehicle. The message center can provide critical information.

The controls for the heated front seats are on the driver and front passenger door panels. You can heat both the seatback and cushion, or just the seatback. There are three heat settings.

To heat both the seatback and seat cushion:

Press and release the horizontal button until the indicator light shows your desired setting.

To heat the seatback only:

Press and release the vertical button until the indicator light shows your desired setting.

In the Platinum Edition, you can heat or cool your front seats. The seats can only be in one mode at a time (either heat or cool). A fan may be heard when this feature is active, which is normal.

To operate the climate controlled seats, do the following:

1. Press the red heat button or the blue cool button to begin.

Seatback Only: This is for the heat feature only. Press the button with the seatback icon to cycle through high, medium, low, and off settings. Red indicator lights show the selected level (three for high, two for medium, one for low).

Entire Seat: Press the button with the entire seat icon to heat or cool the whole seat. Cycle through high, medium, low, and off. Red lights indicate heat, and blue lights indicate cool, with three lights for high, two for medium, and one for low.

Adjust lumbar support:

Press the front or rear of the circular control located on the side of the seat cushion near the door. Release at the preferred setting.

Adjust side bolster support:

Press the top or bottom of the same circular lumbar control. Release at the preferred setting.

Outboard Heated Seat Cushions:

Use the button on the back of the center console. Press once for High, twice for Low, and a third time to turn it off.

Recline the second-row bucket seatback(s):

Pull up the lever on the rear outboard side of the seat cushion. Release it to lock the seatback in place.

Return bucket seatback(s) to upright position:

Pull the seat lever and let the seatback move forward.

Fold either side of the second-row bench seat:

1. Pull up on the strap at the rear of the seat cushion and pull the cushion forward into an upright position.

2. Pull the seatback forward to fold it flat. The head restraint folds automatically. On ESV models, lift the lever at the base of the seat to release the passenger-side seatback.

Return bench seat to occupant position:

1. Lift and move the seatback into the upright position.

2. Return the cushion to the seating position until it latches.

3. Pull up on the seat cushion and forward on the seatback to ensure they are secure. On Escalade (non-ESV), pull head restraints upright.

The passenger’s side of the second-row 60/40 bench seat has an easy entry/exit feature for access to the third-row seat. To operate:

1. Lift the black release lever located on the bottom-back side of the seat.

2. Tilt the seatback toward the front of the vehicle (the seat will release).

3. Pull (or push if exiting) the seat forward until it stops.

To fold the second-row bucket seats, follow these steps:

1. Pull up on the strap loop at the rear of the seat cushion, and pull the seat cushion up and fold it forward.

2. Pull the seatback release lever upward and pull the seatback forward, folding it down until it is flat. Note: On ESV models, you must first remove the headrest and store it.

3. For ESV models, to create a load floor, pull the headrest out from the seatback and slide its pins into the holes on top of the seat cushion. Then, release the load floor panels from the seatbacks by pushing forward on the latches. Fold the panels back to cover the rear seat footwell area.

The safety belt is designed to lock during an accident. It will also lock if it is pulled out all the way during initial buckling. This ALR feature is useful for securing child seats. If the safety belt locks unintentionally, unbuckle it, allow it to retract fully, then pull it out and re-buckle it without extending it all the way.

The automatic interior dimming rearview mirror reduces glare from lights behind you when it’s dark.

Turn the self-dimming function on or off:

Press and hold the rightmost button (with a power symbol) for approximately eight seconds.

Turn the outside temperature and compass displays on or off:

Press the same power button briefly.

Change temperature display units (°C/°F):

Press the leftmost button on the mirror and hold it for four seconds to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit. Release the button when your desired unit is displayed.

The adjustable pedal controls are on the driver’s side door panel. Your CADILLAC ESCALADE 2005 must be in Park (P) to use this feature.

Press the button closest to you to move the pedals closer to your body.

Press the button farthest from you to move the pedals away from your body.

To fold the mirrors, follow these steps:

1. Move the mirror selector switch (the one used to select the left or right mirror for adjustment) to the center position.

2. Press the right side of the four-way control pad to fold the mirrors in.

3. Press the left side of the four-way control pad to fold the mirrors out.

If the mirrors have been folded manually, they must be moved through the power folding cycle three times to reset them in their tracks.

The system has dual-zone operation for the front and a single zone for the rear.

Automatic Operation (Front):

Push the AUTO button and adjust the driver and passenger temperature knobs to your desired settings. The system will automatically control air delivery, fan speed, and A/C functions.

Set Same Temperature for Driver and Passenger:

Press and hold the AUTO button for four seconds.

Manual Air Distribution:

Press the MODE button repeatedly until the desired air source (e.g., vents, floor) is indicated on the display.

Manual Fan Speed:

Press the upper or lower portion of the FAN control button.

Rear Automatic Climate Control:

For rear passengers to use their controls (located on the back of the center console), the driver’s overhead control must be in the AUX position. The rear system works similarly to the front, with an AUTO mode and temperature adjustment.

The sunroof controls are located in the overhead console.

To close the sunroof, hold the front portion of the button down until the sunroof motor stops. It will tilt up slightly to seal, which is normal.

The heated and cooled cupholders work best for maintaining the temperature of an already hot or cold beverage. For safety and performance, use the provided beverage holders.

To use the cupholders, press the switch located between them:

Press the top of the switch (red dot) to heat the cupholder.

Press the bottom of the switch (blue dot) to cool the cupholder.

Press the switch again to turn the feature off.

Caution: When using the heat selection, the beverage container may become hot to the touch.

Note: This feature should only be used while the vehicle is running to avoid draining the battery.

Set the time:

The time can be set with the ignition on or off.

1. Press and hold the HR button until the correct hour appears.

2. Press and hold the MN button until the correct minute appears.

Program radio station presets:

1. Turn the radio on.

2. Press BAND to select the desired band (AM, FM1, FM2, XM1, XM2).

3. Use the SEEK buttons or TUNE knob to find the desired station.

4. Optionally, press AUTO EQ to select a digital signal processing setting for that station.

5. Press and hold one of the six numbered preset buttons until a beep sounds, then release. The station is now stored to that button.

6. Repeat these steps for other stations and preset buttons.

Quick Load (Multiple CDs):

1. Press LOAD for two seconds. The lowest available number will flash.

2. Wait for the amber lights on the sides of the slot to flash, then insert a CD.

3. The next available number will flash, and you can insert another CD. Repeat until all slots are filled or you are done.

4. To exit Quick Load, press LOAD again or a numbered button for a slot that contains a CD.

Load 1 CD:

1. Press LOAD. All available numbers will flash amber.

2. Select the number for the slot you want to use.

3. Wait for the amber lights to flash, then insert the CD.

Quick Unload (All CDs):

Press the EJECT button for two seconds. All CDs will eject one by one, from the highest number to the lowest.

Unload 1 CD:

1. Press EJECT.

2. Press the number for the CD you want to eject.

There are two options to play a CD:

Option 1: Press the numbered button for the desired CD on the changer itself. There will be a slight delay.

Option 2: Press the 5/SIDE button on the radio face to scroll through the available CDs.

To change tracks, you can use the PREV/NEXT buttons or SEEK arrows on the radio, or the SEEK arrows on the steering wheel.

The DVD player for the RSE system is located in the second-row overhead console. It can be turned on when the ignition is in RUN, ACCESSORY, or when Retained Accessory Power (RAP) is active. The system includes wireless headphones and can be controlled by buttons on the player or with the remote control.

The Platinum Edition features a dual-screen RSE system with a DVD player, two video display screens (one for the second row, one for the third), four wireless headphones, and a remote. The third-row screen displays the same content as the second-row screen.

To program the HomeLink transmitter for a device like a garage door opener, turn your vehicle’s engine off and follow these steps:

1. To clear existing programming, press and hold the two outside HomeLink buttons for about 20 seconds, until the indicator light begins to flash. Release the buttons. Do not repeat this step if you only want to add a new device.

2. Hold your original hand-held transmitter 1 to 3 inches away from the HomeLink buttons.

3. Simultaneously press and hold both the desired HomeLink button and the button on your original transmitter.

4. Continue holding both buttons until the HomeLink indicator light flashes slowly at first, then rapidly. Once it flashes rapidly, it has learned the frequency. Release both buttons.

5. Press and hold the newly programmed HomeLink button. If the indicator light stays on constantly, programming is complete, and your device should activate.

To program the other two buttons, repeat steps 2 through 5.

The radio controls on your steering wheel allow you to operate the audio system without taking your hands off the wheel:

PROG: Sequences through your stored preset stations for AM, FM, and XM radio.

SOURCE: Selects the audio source, cycling through AM, FM1, FM2, XM1, XM2, cassette, CD, in-dash 6-Disc CD Changer, and RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment).

SEEK (Up/Down Arrows): Seeks the next available radio station or the next/previous CD track.

VOL (Up/Down Arrows): Adjusts the radio volume.

Cruise control allows you to maintain a speed of 25 mph or more without using the accelerator pedal.

Setting Cruise Control:

1. Move the cruise control switch on the multifunction lever to the ON (|) position.

2. Accelerate to the speed you want to maintain.

3. Press in the SET button at the end of the lever.

4. Remove your foot from the accelerator pedal. The cruise symbol will light up on the instrument cluster.

Increasing Speed:

You can either use the accelerator pedal to reach a higher speed and then press SET again, or you can press the RESUME/ACCELERATE (+) switch to increase speed incrementally.

Reducing Speed:

Press and hold the SET (-) button until you reach the desired lower speed, then release it.

The exterior lamps control knob is located on the left side of the instrument panel.

Turn off Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) and automatic headlamps:

Turn the knob to the OFF (O) position.

Activate the automatic headlamp system:

Turn the knob to AUTO. The system will automatically turn the headlamps on and off based on outside light conditions.

Manually illuminate the parking lamps:

Turn the knob to the parking lamp position (two small lights symbol).

Manually activate the headlamps:

Turn the knob to the headlamp position (headlight symbol).

Turn the fog lamps on or off:

Press the fog lamp button located on the instrument panel. An indicator lamp will illuminate when the fog lamps are on.

StabiliTrak helps you maintain directional control. However, in some situations, like being stuck on slippery terrain where “rocking” the vehicle is necessary, you may need to limit the system’s intervention.

To limit StabiliTrak, press the StabiliTrak button (icon of a car with squiggly lines) located on the instrument panel. This decreases the amount of Traction Control engagement and disables the lateral and yaw sensors.

The URPA system helps you determine the distance to an object behind your rear bumper when in Reverse. It provides a variable audible chime and a visual display on the passenger’s side rear upper trim panel. In certain situations, such as when trailering, the system can be disabled.

To disable URPA, press the URPA on/off button (icon with a “P” and a signal cone) located near the climate control system.

The Tire Pressure Monitor alerts you to a large change in pressure in one of your tires. When the “CHECK TIRE PRESSURE” message appears, you must reset the system.

To reset the tire pressure monitor, you must first fill the tires with the correct amount of air as specified for your vehicle. The message should then clear. This system alerts you to low pressure but does not replace normal tire maintenance.

You can temporarily dismiss the message by pressing the cluster stem button on the instrument panel or the Reset button on the steering wheel, but the message will reappear at the next vehicle start-up until the tire pressure is corrected.

Note: In cooler conditions, you may see the message appear at startup and then turn off as you drive and the tires warm up. This is an early indicator that your tire pressures are getting low and should be inflated to the proper pressure.

To arm the system, lock the doors using either the power door lock switch inside the vehicle or the Keyless Entry System transmitter (remote). The security symbol (a car with a padlock) on the instrument cluster will flash, and the alarm will become fully armed after the symbol goes off, which takes approximately 30 seconds.

To set a memory position:

1. Adjust the driver’s seat (including lumbar and side bolsters), the outside rearview mirrors, and the power adjustable pedals to your desired positions.

2. Press and hold the Memory 1 or 2 button on the driver’s door until two chimes sound (about four seconds).

3. To set a position for a second driver, repeat the process using the other memory button.

To recall a memory position:

Press the Memory 1 or 2 button on the driver’s door. The seat, mirrors, and pedals will move to the stored positions.

To set the Easy Exit position, which the seat will move to when the key is removed from the ignition, follow these steps:

1. First, ensure the “Easy Exit Driver Seat” feature is turned “On” in the Driver Information Center personalization settings.

2. Briefly press memory button 1 or 2.

3. Adjust the seat to your desired exit position.

4. Press and hold the exit button (icon of a person exiting a seat) on the driver’s door until two chimes sound.

You can customize many features using the Driver Information Center (DIC).

1. Press the Personalization button (an ‘i’ in a circle) on the steering wheel.

2. Press the Select button (a checkmark/arrow) to choose your desired setting for the displayed feature. The first setting shown is the factory default.

3. Press the Personalization button (‘i’) again to move to the next feature.

You can customize how the doors lock and unlock through the Driver Information Center.

Lock Doors (Automatic Locking):

In Gear: Doors lock when the vehicle is shifted out of Park.

With Speed: Doors lock when vehicle speed exceeds a certain threshold.

Unlock Doors (Automatic Unlocking):

In Park: All doors unlock when the vehicle is shifted into Park.

Driver: In Park: Only the driver’s door unlocks when the vehicle is shifted into Park.

Key Out: All doors unlock when the key is removed from the ignition.

Manually: Automatic unlocking is disabled.

Door Lock Delay:

On: Delays locking the doors and tailgate for five seconds after the last door is closed.

Off: Doors lock immediately.

You can change the feedback you receive when using the Remote Keyless Entry transmitter via the Driver Information Center.

Lock Feedback:

Both: Horn chirps and lamps flash.

Lamps: Only the lamps flash.

Horn: Only the horn chirps.

Off: No feedback.

Unlock Feedback:

Lamps: Only the lamps flash.

Horn: Only the horn chirps.

Both: Horn chirps and lamps flash.

Off: No feedback.

You can customize lighting features through the Driver Information Center.

Headlamp Delay: (The amount of time headlamps stay on after the vehicle is turned off)

Options: Off, 10 Sec, 20 Sec, 40 Sec, 1 Min, 2 Min, 3 Min.

Perimeter Lights: (Headlamps and back-up lamps come on for 40 seconds when unlocking with the remote, if it is dark enough)

Options: On, Off.

Curb View Assist: (The outside rearview mirror(s) tilt down when the vehicle is shifted into Reverse)

Options: Off, Passenger, Driver, Both.

You can adjust these settings in the Driver Information Center (DIC).

Alarm Warning: (The feedback received when the security alarm is active)

Options: Both (Horn and Lamps), Off, Horn, Lamps.

Language: (The DIC display language)

Options: English, Francais (French), Espanol (Spanish).

Display Units: (The units in which all information will be displayed)

Options: English (miles, psi), Metric (kilometers, kPa).

Use the Trip Information button (icon of a road with a car) on the steering wheel to access these functions.

Viewing Modes:

Press the Trip Information button to scroll through ODOMETER, TRIP A, TRIP B, TIRE PRESSURES, TIMER, and ENGINE HOURS.

Odometer: Shows the total distance the vehicle has been driven. Pressing the reset stem on the cluster with the vehicle off will also display the odometer.

Trip A / Trip B: Shows the distance traveled since the respective trip odometer was last reset.

Reset Trip Information:

While viewing TRIP A or TRIP B, press and hold the Select button (checkmark/arrow) on the steering wheel for one second. Alternatively, you can press and hold the reset stem on the instrument cluster for four seconds to reset the trip odometer and show the distance traveled since the last ignition cycle.

This information is available through the Driver Information Center (DIC).

Tire Pressures:

Press the Trip Information button until TIRE PRESSURES appears. Press the Select button to scroll through the pressure for each tire: LF (Left Front), RF (Right Front), LR (Left Rear), and RR (Right Rear).

Timer:

Press the Trip Information button until TIMER is displayed. Press the Select button to start the timer. It counts up to 99:59:59 and continues counting as long as the ignition is on, even if another display is shown on the DIC.

Access Fuel Information:

Press the Fuel Information button (icon of a gas pump) to view the following:

RANGE: Remaining driving distance. Cannot be reset.

FUEL USED: Amount of fuel consumed since the last reset.

AVG ECON: Average miles per gallon. To reset AVG ECON and FUEL USED, press and hold the Select button for two seconds while in the Fuel Information menu.

ENGINE OIL LIFE: Displays the remaining percentage of oil life.
