When using the AVID POWER ACD316, you must follow basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury.

1. Read and understand all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions may result in serious personal injury.

2. Do not force the tool. Use the correct tool for your application, as it will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

3. Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn it on or off. Any tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

4. Disconnect the battery pack before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool. This reduces the risk of starting the tool accidentally.

5. Store idle tools out of reach of children and other untrained persons.

6. Maintain tools with care. Keep accessories sharp and clean. Properly maintained tools are less likely to bind and are easier to control. Do not use a damaged tool.

7. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other condition that may affect the tool’s operation. If damaged, have the tool serviced before using.

8. Use only accessories recommended by the manufacturer for your model. Accessories suitable for one tool may become hazardous on another.

1. Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered benches and dark areas invite accidents.

2. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.

3. Keep bystanders, children, and visitors away while operating the AVID POWER ACD316. Distractions can cause you to lose control. Protect others in the work area from debris such as chips and sparks by providing barriers or shields as needed.

4. Always keep the work area free of tripping hazards.

5. Use clamps or another practical way to secure and support the workpiece to a stable platform. Holding the work by hand or against your body is unstable and may lead to loss of control.

1. Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense. Do not use the tool while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.

2. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Contain long hair. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts.

3. Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off position before inserting the battery pack.

4. Remove adjusting keys or wrenches before turning the tool on. A wrench or key left attached to a rotating part may result in personal injury.

5. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.

6. Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. A dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection must be used for appropriate conditions.

7. When using the tool, always wear protective safety equipment including safety glasses/goggles, ear muffs, dust mask, and other protective clothing including gloves and an apron.

Battery Safety:

1. Ensure the switch is in the off position before inserting the battery pack.

2. Use the AVID POWER ACD316 only with specifically designed battery packs. Use of other battery packs may create a risk of injury or fire.

3. When the battery pack is not in use, keep it away from metal objects like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, or screws that can make a connection between terminals. Shorting the terminals may cause burns or a fire.

4. Do not use the tool in wet or damp conditions.

5. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery. Avoid contact. If contact occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, seek medical help.

6. Never attempt to open or modify the battery. Released electrolyte is corrosive.

7. Do not expose the battery to water.

8. Do not store in locations where the temperature may exceed 40°C (104°F).

9. Do not dispose of the battery in a fire, as it may explode.

Charger Safety:

1. Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger suitable for one type of battery pack may create a fire risk when used with another.

2. Use your charger only to charge batteries supplied with your tool.

3. Never attempt to charge a non-rechargeable battery.

4. Have defective cords replaced immediately.

5. Do not expose the charger to water.

6. Do not open the charger.

7. The charger is for indoor use only. Do not recharge the battery in rain or wet conditions.

Under extreme conditions, battery leakage may occur. If you notice liquid on the battery, proceed as follows:

a. Carefully wipe the liquid off using a cloth. Avoid skin contact.

b. In case of skin or eye contact, follow the instructions below.

c. The battery fluid is a 25-30% solution of potassium hydroxide, which can be harmful. In case of skin contact, immediately rinse with water.

d. Neutralize with a mild acid such as lemon juice or vinegar. In case of eye contact, rinse abundantly with clean water for at least 10 minutes and seek medical help.

The package for the AVID POWER ACD316 includes:

Variable Speed Trigger Switch: The trigger switch gets the drill moving. It is a variable speed trigger, meaning the harder you squeeze, the faster the motor spins the drive shaft.

Forward/Reverse Control Button: This is a sliding switch that changes the direction of rotation. Press it one way for forward (driving) and the other way for reverse. Arrows on each side of the switch indicate the direction.

Torque Adjustment Collar: The collar has numbers from 1 to 15 to set the clutch for a specific torque range. The higher the number, the higher the torque. Rotate the collar until the desired number aligns with the arrow.

LED Work Light: The light activates when the trigger switch is depressed and automatically turns off 20 seconds after the trigger is released. It is intended for lighting the immediate work surface, not as a flashlight.

1. The battery is not fully charged initially. It’s recommended to charge it for 3-5 hours before the first use.

2. Connect the charger to an AC household current. The green light will turn on, indicating it has power.

3. Insert the battery pack properly into the charger. The red light will turn on, indicating that the battery is charging.

4. Normal charging time is 3-5 hours when the battery is completely dead.

5. When the battery is fully charged, the red light will turn off, and the green light will remain lit.

6. After charging is complete, remove the battery pack from the charging stand immediately. If charging more than one battery pack, allow 15 minutes between charges.

First, ensure the charger is removed from the battery before checking the level.

Press the button (B) on the battery pack to display the battery level.

• Three lights indicate a full charge.

• Two lights show 50% of the power.

• One light shows 25% of the power.

The battery pack also has a USB Output Port (A) for charging other devices.

WARNING: Make certain the lock-off button is engaged to prevent switch actuation before removing or installing the battery.

To install: Slide the battery pack into the bottom of the tool until you hear a click. Ensure the latch is in place and the battery is secure before operation.

To remove: Press the battery release latch and pull the battery pack out at the same time.

CAUTION: Always ensure the tool is switched off and the battery is removed before carrying out any work on the tool.

Method 1 (By Hand):

1. To install, rotate the chuck (A) anticlockwise by hand to open the chuck jaws.

2. Place the driver/drill bit in the chuck as far as it will go.

3. Rotate the chuck (A) clockwise by hand to tighten the chuck jaws.

4. To remove the bit, simply do the steps in reverse.

Method 2 (Using Motor):

1. To open the chuck jaws, move the Forward/Reverse Button to the right side of the tool to engage reverse rotation.

2. Hold the keyless chuck with one hand and squeeze the trigger with the other hand to open the chuck jaws.

3. Carefully center the driver bit/drill bit between the jaws.

4. Move the Forward/Reverse Button to the left side to engage forward rotation.

5. Hold the keyless chuck with one hand and squeeze the trigger slowly until the bit is locked in place.

6. To remove the bit, do the steps in reverse.

How to Install or Remove Extended Bar:

1. Insert a driver bit (driver bits only) into the head of the extension rod. A magnet inside the rod will automatically hold it.

2. Open the chuck jaws and insert the black end of the extension rod into the chuck, then tighten the chuck.

How to Install Flexible Shaft:

1. Open the chuck jaws and insert one end of the flexible shaft (A) into the chuck jaws and tighten.

2. Install the desired driver bit into the other end of the flexible shaft (B).

Note: After installing any accessory, you will need to hand-tighten the sleeve at the end to confirm that the bit is secure.

1. Install the required drill bit.

2. Turn the collar ring to adjust the torque. The higher the number, the more rotational force the drill will apply.

3. Always apply pressure in a straight line with the bit. Use enough pressure to keep the drill biting, but do not push hard enough to stall the motor or deflect the bit.

4. Hold the tool firmly with one hand on the grip and the other hand on the bottom of the battery cartridge to control the twisting action.

5. Squeeze the trigger slowly and then increase the speed. Release the switch trigger as soon as you have drilled to the desired depth.

NOTICE: If drilling thin material, use a wood “back-up” block to prevent damage to the material.

WARNING: If overloaded, the drill may stop suddenly.

1. Install the driver bit you need.

2. To tighten screws, depress the forward control button. Squeeze the trigger slowly. The manual incorrectly states “reverse control button” and “screws come out” for tightening; standard operation is forward rotation for tightening.

3. To loosen screws, depress the reverse control button. Slowly press on the trigger to back the screw out.

1. Keep the tool clean using a soft damp (not wet) cloth. Do not use solvents on the plastic parts.

2. Lubrication is not necessary. After long use, have an authorized service centre maintain and lubricate the tool.

3. To maintain the best performance of the rechargeable battery, prevent it from overheating and overcharging.
