• This appliance is for cooking purposes only in a single household domestic indoor environment.

• WARNING: The appliance and its accessible parts become hot during use. Keep children and pets away from the appliance when in use and when cooling down.

• If the appliance has a child safety device, it should be activated.

• WARNING: Unattended cooking on a hob with fat or oil can be dangerous and may result in fire. Never use water to extinguish a cooking fire. Switch off the appliance and cover flames with a fire blanket or lid.

• CAUTION: The cooking process has to be supervised continuously.

• WARNING: Danger of fire: Do not store items on the cooking surfaces.

• Metallic objects such as knives, forks, spoons, and lids should not be placed on the hob surface as they can get hot.

• Do not use the appliance before installing it in the built-in structure.

• Do not use water spray and steam to clean the appliance.

• After use, switch off the hob element by its control and do not rely on the pan detector.

• WARNING: If the surface is cracked, switch off the appliance to avoid the possibility of electric shock.

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an authorized Service or similarly qualified person to avoid a hazard.

• WARNING: Use only hob guards designed or indicated by the manufacturer as suitable, or hob guards incorporated in the appliance. The use of inappropriate guards can cause accidents.

The power limitation on your AEG TO64IB00IT defines how much power the hob uses in total. The hob is set to its highest possible power level by default. To decrease or increase the power level:

1. Deactivate the hob.

2. Press and hold the On/Off sensor field for 3 seconds. The display comes on and goes off.

3. Press and hold the Lock sensor field for 3 seconds. b1 or b2 appears.

4. Press the Pause sensor field. P72 appears.

5. Press + or – of the timer to set the power level.

The available power levels are:

• P72 — 7200 W

• P15 — 1500 W

• P20 — 2000 W

• P25 — 2500 W

• P30 — 3000 W

• P35 — 3500 W

• P40 — 4000 W

• P45 — 4500 W

• P50 — 5000 W

• P60 — 6000 W

CAUTION! Make sure that the selected power fits the house installation fuses.

To activate or deactivate your AEG TO64IB00IT hob, touch the On/Off sensor field for 1 second.

The Automatic Switch Off function on your AEG TO64IB00IT will deactivate the hob automatically if:

• all cooking zones are deactivated,

• you do not set the heat setting after you activate the hob,

• you spill something or put something on the control panel for more than 10 seconds (e.g., a pan, a cloth). An acoustic signal will sound, and the hob will deactivate. Remove the object or clean the control panel.

• the hob gets too hot (e.g., when a saucepan boils dry). Let the cooking zone cool down before using the hob again.

• you use incorrect cookware. The symbol F comes on and the cooking zone deactivates automatically after 2 minutes.

• you do not deactivate a cooking zone or change the heat setting. After some time, – comes on and the hob deactivates.

The relation between the heat setting and the time after which the hob deactivates is as follows:

To set or change the heat setting on your AEG TO64IB00IT, touch the control bar at the correct heat setting or move your finger along the control bar until you reach the correct heat setting.

OptiHeat Control on your AEG TO64IB00IT is a 3-step residual heat indicator. As long as the indicator is visible, there is a risk of burns from residual heat. The indicators appear when a cooking zone is hot and show the level of residual heat.

• ≡ – continue cooking

• = – keep warm

• – – residual heat

The indicator may also appear for neighboring cooking zones even if you are not using them, when hot cookware is placed on a cold cooking zone, or when the hob is deactivated but the cooking zone is still hot. The indicator disappears when the cooking zone has cooled down.

Place the cookware in the centre of the selected zone. The induction cooking zones adapt to the dimension of the bottom of the cookware automatically.

For large cookware, you can use the Bridge function, which connects the two left-side cooking zones to operate as one. The cookware must cover the centres of both zones. The function operates when the pot covers the centres of the two zones.

To use the Bridge function:

1. First, set the heat setting for one of the left-side cooking zones.

2. To activate the function, touch the Bridge symbol. To set or change the heat setting, touch one of the control sensors.

3. To deactivate the function, touch the Bridge symbol again. The cooking zones will then operate independently.

The Automatic Heat Up function on your AEG TO64IB00IT allows you to get a desired heat setting in a shorter time. The cooking zone must be cold to activate this function. When on, the cooking zone operates at the highest heat setting initially and then continues at the desired heat setting.

To activate: Touch the ‘A’ symbol (A comes on). Immediately touch a desired heat setting. After 3 seconds, the ‘A’ symbol comes on solid.

To deactivate: Change the heat setting.

The PowerBoost function on your AEG TO64IB00IT makes more power available to the induction cooking zones. It can be activated for a limited period, after which the cooking zone automatically sets back to the highest heat setting.

To activate for a cooking zone: Touch the ‘P’ symbol. The ‘P’ symbol comes on.

To deactivate: Change the heat setting.

Your AEG TO64IB00IT hob has three timer functions. First, set the heat setting for the cooking zone, then set the timer function.

Count Down Timer: Sets the length for a single cooking session.

1. Set the cooking zone: Touch the clock symbol repeatedly until the indicator of a cooking zone appears.

2. Activate: Touch + of the timer to set the time (00 – 99 minutes). When the indicator starts to flash, the time counts down.

3. See remaining time: Touch the clock symbol to set the cooking zone. The display shows the remaining time.

4. Change the time: Touch the clock symbol to set the cooking zone, then touch + or -.

5. Deactivate: Touch the clock symbol to set the cooking zone and then touch -. The remaining time counts down to 00. The indicator of the cooking zone disappears.

When the countdown ends, an acoustic signal sounds and 00 flashes. To stop the sound, touch the clock symbol.

CountUp Timer: Monitors how long the cooking zone operates.

1. Set the cooking zone: Touch the clock symbol repeatedly until the indicator of a cooking zone appears.

2. Activate: Touch – of the timer. UP appears. When the indicator of the cooking zone starts to flash, the time counts up. The display switches between UP and the counted time in minutes.

3. See how long it operates: Touch the clock symbol to set the cooking zone. The display shows how long the zone operates.

4. Deactivate: Touch the clock symbol and then touch + or -. The indicator of the cooking zone disappears.

Minute Minder: Use when the hob is activated but the cooking zones are not operating.

1. Activate: Touch the clock symbol and then touch + or – of the timer to set the time. When the time finishes, an acoustic signal sounds and 00 flashes.

2. To stop the sound: Touch the clock symbol.

Pause:

This function sets all operating cooking zones to the lowest heat setting. All other symbols on the control panel are locked. It does not stop the timer functions.

• To activate: Press the Pause symbol. The Pause symbol comes on. The heat setting is lowered to 1.

• To deactivate: Press the Pause symbol. The previous heat setting appears.

Lock:

This locks the control panel while cooking zones are operating to prevent accidental changes to the heat setting. Set the heat setting first.

• To activate: Touch the Lock symbol. The Lock symbol comes on for 4 seconds. The Timer stays on.

• To deactivate: Touch the Lock symbol. The previous heat setting comes on.

Child Safety Device:

This function prevents accidental operation of the hob.

• To activate: Activate the hob with the On/Off button. Do not set any heat. Touch the Lock symbol for 4 seconds. The Lock symbol comes on. Deactivate the hob with the On/Off button.

• To deactivate: Activate the hob with the On/Off button. Do not set any heat. Touch the Lock symbol for 4 seconds. The Lock symbol with a line through it comes on. Deactivate the hob with the On/Off button.

• To override for one cooking time: Activate the hob. The Lock symbol comes on. Touch the Lock symbol for 4 seconds. Set the heat setting within 10 seconds. You can now operate the hob. When you deactivate the hob, the function operates again.

This is managed by the OffSound Control function.

1. Deactivate the hob.

2. Touch the On/Off sensor field for 3 seconds. The display comes on and goes out.

3. Touch the Lock sensor field for 3 seconds. b1 or b2 comes on.

4. Touch + of the timer to choose one of the following:

• b1 – the sounds are off

• b2 – the sounds are on

5. To confirm your selection, wait until the hob deactivates automatically.

When the function is set to b2, you can hear sounds only when you touch the On/Off button, Minute Minder comes down, Count Down Timer comes down, or you put something on the control panel.

If multiple zones are active and the consumed power exceeds the power supply limitation, the Power management function divides the available power between all cooking zones connected to the same phase. The hob controls heat settings to protect the house installation fuses. If the hob reaches the limit of maximum available power, the power of the cooking zones will be automatically reduced. The heat setting of the last selected cooking zone is always prioritized. The remaining power is divided between previously activated zones in reverse order of selection. The heat setting display of the reduced zones will change between the initially selected and the reduced heat setting. You should wait until the display stops flashing or reduce the heat setting of the last selected cooking zone.

The Hob²Hood function connects your AEG TO64IB00IT hob to a special hood. The fan speed is defined automatically based on the mode setting and temperature of the hottest cookware.

Operating the function automatically:

To operate the function automatically, set the automatic mode to H1 – H6. The hob is originally set to H5. The hood reacts whenever you operate the hob. To change the automatic mode:

1. Deactivate the hob.

2. Press the On/Off button for 3 seconds. The display comes on and goes off.

3. Press the Lock button for 3 seconds.

4. Press the Pause button a few times until H comes on.

5. Press + of the timer to select an automatic mode.

Operating the fan speed manually:

You can also operate the function manually by pressing the fan symbol when the hob is active. This deactivates automatic operation. When you press the fan symbol, you raise the fan speed by one. When you reach an intensive level and press it again, you will set the fan speed to 0, which deactivates the hood fan. To start the fan again with speed 1, press the fan symbol.

Activating the light:

You can set the hob to activate the light automatically whenever you activate the hob. To do so, set the automatic mode to H1 – H6. The light on the hood deactivates 2 minutes after deactivating the hob.

For induction cooking zones, a strong electro-magnetic field creates the heat in the cookware very quickly. Use cookware with a base that is as thick and flat as possible. Ensure cookware bases are clean and dry before placing on the hob.

• Correct material: cast iron, steel, enamelled steel, stainless steel, multi-layer bottom (with a correct marking from a manufacturer).

• Not correct material: aluminium, copper, brass, glass, ceramic, porcelain.

Cookware is suitable for an induction hob if water boils very quickly on a zone set to the highest heat setting, or if a magnet pulls on to the bottom of the cookware.

For optimal heat transfer, use cookware with a bottom diameter similar to the size of the cooking zone. Do not use cookware larger than indicated in the specifications. Avoid keeping cookware close to the control panel during cooking.

The noises are normal and do not indicate any malfunction. Cookware noises may vary depending on the material and power level.

Cookware-related noises:

• cracking noise: cookware is made of different materials (a sandwich construction).

• whistling sound: you use a cooking zone with a high power level and the cookware is made of different materials (a sandwich construction).

• humming: you use a high power level.

Hob-related noises:

• clicking: electric switching occurs.

• hissing, buzzing: the fan operates.

• rhythmic sound: cookware is detected.

The data in this table is for guidance only. The correlation between the heat setting of a zone and its power consumption is not linear.

• Remove immediately: melted plastic, plastic foil, salt, sugar and food with sugar. Take care to avoid burns. Use a special hob scraper on the glass surface at an acute angle and move the blade on the surface.

• Remove when the hob is sufficiently cool: limescale rings, water rings, fat stains, shiny metallic discoloration. Clean the hob with a mildly abrasive cleaning milk and an anti-scratch, delicate sponge. After cleaning, wipe the hob dry with a microfibre cloth.

• For persistent marks and stains: apply moderate pressure and scrub the surface with an anti-scratch, delicate sponge and a mildly abrasive cleaning milk until the stains are no longer visible.

Always use a scraper recommended for hobs with a glass surface. Do not use knives or any other sharp, metal tools to clean the glass surface. Do not use the classic yellow and green sponge as the aluminium particles on its hard layer may damage and discolour the glass.

If you cannot activate or operate the hob, check the following:

• Check if the hob is correctly connected to the electrical supply.

• Make sure the fuse is not blown. If the fuse is blown repeatedly, contact a qualified electrician.

• Ensure you have set the heat setting within 10 seconds of activating the hob.

• Make sure you are touching only one sensor field at a time.

• Check if the Pause function is active. Refer to “Pause” instructions to deactivate it.

• Clean the control panel if there are water or fat stains on it.

A constant beep noise indicates that the electrical connection is incorrect. Disconnect the hob from the electrical supply and ask a qualified electrician to check the installation.

This happens when you have put something on one or more sensor fields. Remove the object from the sensor fields.

The zone may not be hot because it operated for only a short time, or the sensor could be damaged. If the zone operated long enough to be hot, speak to an Authorised Service Centre.

This can happen if the cookware is too large or you have placed it too close to the control panel. Put large cookware on the rear zones, if possible.

The ‘L’ symbol indicates that the Child Safety Device or Lock function is active. Refer to the “Daily use” section to deactivate it.

The ‘F’ symbol indicates that there is no cookware on the zone, the cookware is unsuitable, or the diameter of the cookware’s bottom is too small for the zone. Put suitable cookware on the zone.

If heating up takes a long time, the cookware is too small and receives only a part of the power generated by the cooking zone. For optimal heat transfer, use cookware with a bottom diameter similar to the size of the cooking zone.

This indicates an error in the hob. Deactivate the hob and activate it again after 30 seconds. If the error message comes on again, disconnect the hob from the electrical supply. After 30 seconds, connect the hob again. If the problem continues, speak to an Authorised Service Centre.

You can save energy during everyday cooking by following these hints:

• When you heat up water, use only the amount you need.

• If it is possible, always put the lids on the cookware.

• Put the cookware directly in the centre of the cooking zone.

• Use the residual heat to keep the food warm or to melt it.
