The following safety rules should be followed for the AEG AWA6GSI10:

• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the safe use of the appliance and understand the hazards involved.

• Children between 3 and 8 years of age and persons with very extensive and complex disabilities should be kept away from the appliance unless continuously supervised.

• Children of less than 3 years of age should be kept away from the appliance unless continuously supervised.

• Supervise children to ensure they do not play with the appliance.

• Keep all packaging away from children and dispose of it appropriately.

• Keep detergents away from children.

• Keep children and pets away from the appliance when the door is open.

• If the appliance has a child safety device, it should be activated.

• Children shall not carry out cleaning and user maintenance of the appliance without supervision.

• The AEG AWA6GSI10 is for washing domestic-type, machine-washable laundry only.

• It is designed for single household domestic use in an indoor environment.

• Do not change the specification of this appliance.

• The maximum load is 8.0 kg. Do not exceed the maximum load of each programme.

• The operating water pressure at the water entry point must be between 0.5 bar (0.05 MPa) and 10 bar (1.0 MPa).

• The ventilation opening in the base must not be covered by a carpet, mat, or any floor covering.

• The appliance must be connected to the water mains using the new supplied hose sets. Old hose sets must not be reused.

• If the mains power supply cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an Authorised Service Centre.

• Before any maintenance, deactivate the appliance and disconnect the mains plug.

• Do not use high-pressure water sprays and/or steam to clean the appliance.

• Clean the appliance with a moist cloth using only neutral detergents. Do not use abrasive products, pads, solvents, or metal objects.

• If stacking a tumble dryer on top, use the correct stacking kit approved by AEG.

Installation must comply with relevant national regulations. Follow these steps for the AEG AWA6GSI10:

Unpacking:

1. Open the door and remove all items from the drum.

2. Place a packaging element on the floor behind the appliance and carefully lay it down on its rear side. Remove the bottom protection.

3. Return the appliance to an upright position. Remove the power supply cable and drain hose from the hose holders.

4. Remove the three transit bolts and plastic spacers. It is recommended to keep these for any future transport.

5. Insert the plastic caps (found in the user manual bag) into the holes.

Positioning and Levelling:

1. Install the appliance on a flat, hard floor. It must be level and stable.

2. Ensure the appliance does not touch walls or other units and that there is air circulation below it.

3. Loosen or tighten the feet to adjust the level using a spirit level. All feet must rest firmly on the floor. Do not put cardboard or wood under the feet to adjust the level.

Water Inlet Connection:

1. Connect the water inlet hose to the back of the appliance if needed (it is usually pre-installed).

2. Position the hose toward the left or right, depending on the position of your water tap. Ensure the inlet hose is not in a vertical position.

3. If necessary, loosen the ring nut to set it in the correct position.

4. Connect the other end of the COLD water inlet hose to a cold water tap with a 3/4″ thread.

Important Notes:

• The inlet water temperature must not exceed 25 °C.

• Before connecting to new pipes, let the water run until it is clean and clear.

• Ensure there are no visible water leaks during and after the first use.

• Do not use an extension hose if the inlet hose is too short. Contact the service centre for a replacement.

Water Drainage:

The drain hose should be at a height of no less than 60 cm and not more than 100 cm. You can connect it in several ways:

• **To a sink spigot:** Connect the drain hose to the spigot and tighten with a clamp. Make sure the hose forms a loop to prevent particles from entering the appliance from the sink.

• **To a stand pipe:** Insert the drain hose directly into a stand pipe. The end of the drain hose must always be ventilated (the inner diameter of the drain pipe must be larger than the external diameter of the drain hose).

• **To a built-in drain pipe:** Position the hose directly to a built-in drain pipe in the wall and tighten it with a clamp.

WARNING: Risk of fire and electric shock.

• The AEG AWA6GSI10 is designed to be connected to a grounding connection in the building.

• Always use a correctly installed shockproof, earthed socket.

• Make sure the parameters on the rating plate are compatible with the electrical ratings of your mains power supply.

• Do not use multi-plug adapters or extension cables.

• Connect the mains plug to the mains socket only at the end of the installation.

• Ensure there is access to the mains plug after installation.

• Do not touch the mains cable or plug with wet hands.

• To disconnect the appliance, always pull the mains plug, not the cable.

Before the first use of your AEG AWA6GSI10, you may notice some residual water in the appliance from factory testing. This is normal. Follow these steps:

1. Make sure all transit bolts have been removed.

2. Ensure that electrical power is available and the water tap is open.

3. Pour 2 litres of water into the detergent compartment marked with the main wash icon. This activates the drain system.

4. Pour a small quantity of detergent into the same compartment.

5. Set and start a programme for cotton at the highest temperature without any laundry in the drum. This removes any possible dirt from the drum and tub.

Your AEG AWA6GSI10 includes several special features for effective and gentle laundry care:

• Wi-Fi connection and Remote Start: Allows you to start, interact with, and check the status of your wash cycle remotely.

• SteamCare system: The Steam Cashmere and Steam Refresh programmes refresh delicate garments without washing, reducing wrinkles and odours.

• Steam Easy Iron option: Finishes every cycle with gentle steam to relax fibres and reduce creasing, making ironing easier.

• SensiCare System: Detects the laundry load size within 30 seconds and adjusts the programme duration accordingly, saving time, energy, and water.

The control panel consists of a programme dial and several touch keys with a central display.

Main Components:

• Programme dial: Turn to select a washing programme.

• Display: Shows programme duration, delay time, cycle end, warning codes, and various indicators.

• On/Off touch key: Press and hold to activate or deactivate the appliance.

• Start/Pause touch key: Tap to start, pause, or interrupt a programme.

SmartSelect Touch Keys: These keys select the wash settings based on the soil level of the fabrics.

• Steam Refresh: Reduces wrinkles and light odours for clothes that don’t need a full wash.

• Extra Light: For very lightly soiled clothing. Suggested temperature is 20°C.

• Light: For everyday lightly soiled clothes. Suggested temperature is 30°C.

• Normal: For normal to heavily soiled clothes.

Other Touch Keys:

• Temperature: To change the water temperature.

• Spin: To change the spin speed or select No Spin, Rinse Hold, or Silent options.

• Finish In (+/-): To set a time by which the programme should be finished.

• Prewash: Adds a prewash phase.

• Steam Easy Iron: Adds a steam phase at the end of the cycle.

• Extra Rinse: Adds an extra rinse to the cycle.

• Remote start: Activates the remote control function.

Display Indicators:

• Prewash indicator: Shows prewash is selected.

• Steam indicator: Shows a steam phase is active.

• Anti-crease indicator: Shows the anti-crease phase is active.

• Child Lock indicator: Shows Child Lock is on.

• Door locked indicator: Shows the door is locked.

• Wi-Fi connection indicator: Shows Wi-Fi status.

• SmartLeaf indicator: Provides feedback on energy consumption (no leaf = average, one leaf = good, two leaves = best).

To prevent children from playing with the control panel, you can activate the Child Lock function on your AEG AWA6GSI10.

To activate or deactivate this option, press and hold the Spin button for 3 seconds until the lock indicator comes on or goes off on the display.

When activated, if you press any button, the lock indicator will blink to show that the buttons are disabled. The Child Lock function may not be available for a few seconds after switching the appliance on.

Follow these steps for a daily wash:

1. Activate the appliance: Connect the mains plug, open the water tap, and press the On/Off button for a few seconds.

2. Load the laundry: Open the door, shake the items, and put them in the drum one at a time. Do not overfill. Close the door firmly, ensuring no laundry is caught between the seal and the door.

3. Fill detergent and additives: Pull out the detergent dispenser. Use the flap UP for powder detergent and DOWN for liquid detergent. Measure out the detergent and fabric conditioner into the correct compartments and carefully close the dispenser.

4. Set a programme: Turn the programme dial to select the desired programme. The default is Eco 40-60.

5. Select options: Use the SmartSelect function to change the soil level. The appliance will recommend the optimal settings. To change temperature, spin speed, or add other options like Prewash or Extra Rinse, touch the related buttons.

6. Start the programme: Touch the Start/Pause key. The programme will start, the door will lock, and the SensiCare system will detect the load to adjust the duration.

7. End of the programme: When the cycle is finished, the display shows `0:00`. Press the On/Off button to deactivate the appliance. Remove the laundry. Keep the door and detergent dispenser slightly open to prevent mildew and odours.

If the ‘Add garments’ indicator is on, you can open the door. The appliance door is locked while a programme is running, indicated by the door lock symbol. You cannot open the door if the water temperature or level is too high, or if the drum is still rotating.

To add or remove garments:

1. Touch the Start/Pause key. The related door lock indicator goes off in the display.

2. Open the appliance door. Add or remove garments as necessary.

3. Close the door and touch the Start/Pause key again. The programme will continue.

1. Press the On/Off button to cancel the programme and deactivate the appliance.

2. Press the On/Off button again to activate the appliance.

You can now set a new washing programme.

Note: If the SensiCare phase has already been carried out and water filling has started, the new programme will start without repeating the SensiCare phase to avoid wasting water and detergent.

To connect your AEG AWA6GSI10 to your Wi-Fi network and mobile device, you need a home wireless network with an internet connection and a mobile device connected to that network.

Installing and Configuring the App:

1. Go to the App Store on your smart device or scan the QR code on the appliance’s rating plate.

2. Download and install the app.

3. Start the application, select your country and language, and log in or create a new account.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to register and configure your appliance.

Turning Wi-Fi On:

1. To connect the appliance to a Wi-Fi network, tap and hold the Remote start key for 5 seconds. This opens the access point (AP mode) and starts the provisioning process.

2. During this phase, the Wi-Fi icon will blink. When the access point is open, the display will show “AP”.

3. The Wi-Fi icon continues to blink until it connects to your home network. Once successful, a sound will play and the Wi-Fi icon will be lit steadily.

Turning Wi-Fi Off:

If you no longer want to connect the appliance to Wi-Fi, tap and hold the Remote start key for 10 seconds. The appliance will reset and turn off the Wi-Fi function. The Wi-Fi icon will be turned off.

Periodic cleaning helps extend the life of your AEG AWA6GSI10. After each cycle, keep the door and detergent dispenser slightly open to allow air circulation and dry the humidity inside.

Indicative periodic cleaning schedule:

• Descaling: Twice a year (if you have hard or medium-hard water).

• Maintenance wash: Once a month (run a hot cotton programme with a small amount of detergent and no laundry).

• Clean door seal: Every two months.

• Clean drum: Every two months.

• Clean detergent dispenser: Every two months.

• Clean drain pump filter: Twice a year.

• Clean the inlet hose and valve filter: Twice a year.

WARNING! Disconnect the mains plug from the socket. Do not clean the pump if the water in the appliance is hot.

Clean the drain pump filter if the appliance does not drain water, the drum does not turn, the appliance makes an unusual noise, or the display shows alarm code E20.

1. Open the pump cover.

2. Place a suitable bowl below the drain pump access to collect the water that flows out.

3. Open the chute downwards. Keep a rag nearby to dry any water spillages.

4. Turn the filter 180 degrees anti-clockwise to open it, without removing it. Let the water flow out.

5. When the bowl is full, turn the filter back and empty the container.

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until the water stops flowing out.

7. Turn the filter anti-clockwise to remove it.

8. If necessary, remove fluff and objects from the filter recess.

9. Make sure that the impeller of the pump can rotate. If it does not, contact the Authorised Service Centre.

10. Clean the filter under the water tap.

11. Put the filter back into the special guides by turning it clockwise. Ensure you tighten it correctly to prevent leakages.

12. Close the pump cover.

In case of a power failure or malfunction, the appliance door remains locked. If the door remains locked after power is restored, you can open it using the emergency unlock function.

Before opening the door:

• CAUTION! Risk of burns! Make sure the water temperature is not too high and the laundry is not hot. Wait for them to cool down if necessary.

• CAUTION! Risk of injury! Make sure the drum is not rotating. Wait for the drum to stop if necessary.

• Make sure the water level inside the drum is not too high. If necessary, perform an emergency drain first.

To open the door:

1. Press the On/Off button to switch the appliance off.

2. Disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket.

3. Open the filter flap.

4. Pull the emergency unlock trigger downward once. Pull it downward again, keep it tensed, and in the meanwhile, open the appliance door.

5. Take out the laundry and then close the appliance door.

6. Close the filter flap.

If your AEG AWA6GSI10 stops and shows an alarm code, first try to find a solution below. Deactivate the appliance before any checks.

• E10: The appliance does not fill with water properly.

– Make sure the water tap is open and not clogged.

– Check that the water supply pressure is not too low.

– Ensure the inlet hose has no kinks or bends and is connected correctly.

– Check that the inlet hose and valve filters are not clogged.

• E20: The appliance does not drain the water.

– Make sure the sink spigot is not clogged.

– Ensure the drain hose has no kinks or bends and is connected correctly.

– Clean the drain filter.

– Set a drain programme if you selected an option that ends with water in the tub.

• E40: The appliance door is open or not closed correctly.

– Make sure the door is properly closed.

• E91: Internal communication failure between electronic elements.

– Switch the appliance off and on again. If the code reappears, contact the Authorised Service Centre.

• EH0: The mains supply is unstable.

– Wait until the mains supply is stable.

If the display shows other alarm codes, deactivate and reactivate the appliance. If the problem continues, contact the Authorised Service Centre.

If your AEG AWA6GSI10 is not working correctly, check the following possible solutions:

• The programme does not start:

– Check if the mains plug is connected and the door is closed.

– Check for a damaged fuse in the fuse box.

– Make sure the Start/Pause button has been touched.

– If a delay start is set, cancel it or wait for the countdown to end.

– Deactivate Child Lock if it is on.

• The appliance fills with water and drains immediately:

– Ensure the drain hose is in the correct position (not too low).

• The spin phase does not operate or the cycle lasts longer than usual:

– Set the spin programme.

– Clean the drain filter.

– The problem may be caused by balance issues. Manually adjust the items in the tub and start the spin phase again.

• You cannot open the appliance door:

– Check if a programme that ends with water in the tub has been selected.

– Make sure the washing programme has finished.

– Set a drain or spin programme if there is water in the drum.

• The appliance makes an unusual noise and vibrates:

– Check that the appliance is level.

– Make sure that packaging and/or transit bolts have been removed.

– Add more laundry if the load is too small.

• The washing results are not satisfactory:

– Increase the detergent quantity or use a different one.

– Use special products to remove stubborn stains before washing.

– Make sure you set the correct temperature and do not overload the machine.
