Disconnect the ADVANTECH AWS-8129H2-XAE from any AC outlet before cleaning, using only a damp cloth.

For plug-in equipment, the power outlet must be near the equipment and easily accessible.

Keep the unit away from humidity.

Place the unit on a reliable surface to prevent damage from dropping.

Do not cover the air convection openings on the enclosure to prevent overheating.

Ensure the voltage of the power source is correct before connecting.

Position power cords so they cannot be stepped on or covered.

If not used for a long time, disconnect the power to avoid damage by transient overvoltage.

Never pour liquids into any opening as this may cause fire or electrical shock.

Do not open the equipment; it should only be opened by qualified service personnel.

Do not store or leave the ADVANTECH AWS-8129H2-XAE in an uncontrolled environment where temperatures are below -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit) or above 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit).

To open the panels, first remove the eight screws from the top panel and then open the top cover. After removing the top cover, you can detach the six screws from the rear panel to open the rear panel of the ADVANTECH AWS-8129H2-XAE.

Open the top panel, slowly slide the card in, and carefully press it into the backplane socket of the ADVANTECH AWS-8129H2-XAE. Secure the card with a screw to the top mounting bar, connect any necessary wires, install additional cards as needed, and reattach the cover when finished.

The ADVANTECH AWS-8129H2-XAE provides space for a 3.5″ hard disk drive or a slim CD-ROM drive above the front-facing floppy drive. To install them, unscrew the drive mount assembly from the body of the case, attach the drive with the screws, and attach the ribbon connector. Once finished, set the ribbon cables in place and mount the drive mount assembly.

The ADVANTECH AWS-8129H2-XAE has a PS/2 connector on the front panel under the dust-protection door. There are also two additional keyboard connectors in the back of the chassis. You can connect a keyboard to the front panel PS/2 connector and another to one of the keyboard connectors at the back of the chassis at the same time, but you cannot connect two keyboards to the two connectors in the back simultaneously.

To edit macro keys, use the utility Main.exe, which must be run under DOS mode only. Copy all files to your hard disk and identify the .pad file corresponding to the ADVANTECH AWS-8129H2-XAE. Run Main.exe, select Load to open the required definition file, then select Edit to enter edit mode. Choose the macro key to edit, enter the desired character string (under 78 characters), and press Esc to save the change to the file. When editing is complete, select Save to save your changes to a new file, and use the Run function to download the definitions to the keyboard translator board.

The ADVANTECH AWS-8129H2-XAE utilizes the following LCD specifications:

To repair or upgrade the power supply, first shut off all power to the ADVANTECH AWS-8129H2-XAE and unplug the unit. Detach and remove the top and rear covers. Unscrew the four screws on the side panel and disconnect all DC output connectors and the AC line.

1. Open the top and rear cover of the ADVANTECH AWS-8129H2-XAE.

2. Disconnect the cable from the LCD controller and LCD.

3. Pull out the bracket located below the backplane.

4. Detach the bracket behind the front panel.

5. Disconnect the cables of the inverter and the cables of the touchscreen controller (if applicable).

6. Unscrew the four screws, and pull out the LCD carefully.

7. Unscrew the screws on the LCD to change the backlight. Note that the backlight is small and fragile, so use caution when handling or replacing it.

1. Switch off the power and detach the main power cord from the ADVANTECH AWS-8129H2-XAE.

2. Detach the work drawer and cover.

3. Pull out the work drawer as far as it will go.

4. Remove the keypad connector protective bracket.

5. Carefully detach all cables connected to the keyboard translator.

6. Unscrew the four screws on the corners, pull out the keyboard translator, and replace it.

1. Open the top and rear cover of the ADVANTECH AWS-8129H2-XAE.

2. Disconnect the cable from the LCD controller and LCD.

3. Pull out the bracket which is located below the backplane.

4. Detach the bracket behind the front panel.

5. Disconnect the cables of the inverter and the cables of the touchscreen controller.

6. Replace the touchscreen controller. Do not bend the touchscreen tail which is attached to the touchscreen sensor.
