The package for the ADVANTECH AWS-8129H1-XAE includes one industrial workstation with a 12.1 inch flat panel display and an accessory box. The accessory box contains the following items: One HMI products drivers and utilities CD-ROM, one utility diskette for function key programming, the User’s Manual, a cable to link the front PS/2 connector to the CPU card, a flat gray cable for the 3.5 inch HDD and slim CD-ROM, a Y-cable for the PS/2 keyboard and mouse, an RS-232 cable to link the touchscreen to the CPU card (only for -T models), and a screw bag with screws.

The ADVANTECH AWS-8129H1-XAE features an aluminum front panel that meets NEMA 4 or IP 65 standards. It includes a disk drive housing that supports one slim 3.5 inch FDD, one 3.5 inch HDD, and one slim CD-ROM. The cooling system consists of one 49 CFM fan on the rear panel. It has membrane keypads (one with 60 data entry keys, one with 10 function keys and 10 programmable macro function keys), a 6-pin PS/2 keyboard connector with a dust-proof door on the front panel, and LEDs for Power On/Off and HDD activity. It includes linear VR adjustment for brightness and on/off control. The operating temperature is 0 to 50 degrees Celsius, relative humidity is 5 to 85 percent at 50 degrees Celsius (non-condensing), and the unit is CE compliant. The dimensions are 482 x 266 x 307 mm (19.0 x 10.5 x 12.1 inches) and the weight is 15 kg (33 lb).

Before beginning any installation, ensure there is no power flowing within the ADVANTECH AWS-8129H1-XAE. It must be switched off and unplugged. Always switch it off and unplug it whenever you access the inside of the unit.

To add cards, first remove the eight screws from the top panel and open the top cover. Slowly slide the card into the backplane socket and carefully press it in. Secure it with a screw to the top mounting bar. Connect the necessary wires, install additional cards as needed, and reattach the cover once finished.

The ADVANTECH AWS-8129H1-XAE provides space for a 3.5 inch hard disk drive or a slim CD-ROM drive above the pre-installed front-facing floppy drive. To install, unscrew the drive mount assembly from the body of the case, attach the new drive with the screws, and attach the ribbon connector. Once added, set the ribbon cables in place and mount the drive mount assembly back into the case.

You can connect an external keyboard using the PS/2 connector located on the front panel, which is accessed under the dust-protection door. There are also two additional keyboard connectors located on the back of the chassis. Note that you cannot connect two keyboards to the two connectors in the back at the same time. However, you can connect a keyboard to the front panel PS/2 connector and another keyboard to one of the connectors at the back simultaneously.

After adding your cards, drives, and other equipment, switch on the ADVANTECH AWS-8129H1-XAE to confirm it functions correctly. Set the case within your panel aperture so that your screw holes line up with the mounting bolts on the flange of the unit. Secure the bolts to the panel.

The ADVANTECH AWS-8129H1-XAE can be mounted in a 19 inch rack. Ensure all additional equipment has been installed correctly and all cabling, such as the monitor signal cable, the keyboard cable, and the monitor power cable, has been reattached. Attach the rack to the case using screws on both sides of the case.

Before servicing the power supply, shut off all power to the ADVANTECH AWS-8129H1-XAE and unplug the unit. Detach and remove the top and rear covers. Unscrew the four screws on the side panel and disconnect all DC output connectors and the AC line before removing the power supply.

To replace the inverter, LCD, or LCD backlight, follow these steps: 1. Open the top and rear cover. 2. Disconnect the cable from the LCD controller and LCD. 3. Pull out the bracket located below the backplane. 4. Detach the bracket behind the front panel. 5. Disconnect the cables of the inverter and the cables of the touchscreen controller if applicable. Pull out the LCD bracket to change the inverter. 6. Unscrew the four screws and pull out the LCD carefully. 7. Unscrew the screws on the LCD to change the backlight. Use caution, as the backlight is small and fragile.

To service the keyboard translator, follow these steps: 1. Switch off the power and detach the main power cord. 2. Detach the work drawer and cover from the ADVANTECH AWS-8129H1-XAE. 3. Pull out the work drawer as far as it will go. 4. Remove the keypad connector protective bracket. 5. Carefully detach all cables connected to the keyboard translator. 6. Unscrew the four screws on the corners, pull out the keyboard translator, and replace it.

You do not need to remove the backplane and bracket to replace the LED board. Simply detach the bays for the FDD, HDD, and slim CD-ROM drive, then unscrew the three screws fixed into the panel. Before removing the LED board, carefully detach the cables by pulling them down.

To service or replace the touchscreen controller, follow these steps: 1. Open the top and rear cover. 2. Disconnect the cable from the LCD controller and LCD. 3. Pull out the bracket which is located below the backplane. 4. Detach the bracket behind the front panel. 5. Disconnect the cables of the inverter and the cables of the touchscreen controller. 6. Replace the touchscreen controller. Do not bend the touchscreen tail attached to the touchscreen sensor.

The input specifications for the 250 Watt power supply are as follows: Input range is 90 to 135/180 to 265 VAC; input frequency is 47 to 63 Hz; input current is 6 A at 115 VAC or 3 A at 230 VAC; efficiency is greater than 65 percent at full load and nominal line; and EMI/RFI compliance includes FCC Part 15 Class B, VDE 243 Class B, and CISPR 22 Class B.
