Check the vehicle data sticker to determine if the vehicle is equipped with PR number QG0, QG1, or QG2. The PR number is decisive for service intervals. QG1 indicates LongLife service, while QG0 or QG2 indicates time or distance dependent service.

Vehicles with PR number QG1 are fitted with the following components: a flexible service interval display in the dash panel insert, an engine oil level sensor, and a brake pad wear indicator (if fitted).

For 4-cylinder, 5-cylinder, and VR6 engines without FSI, the oil standard is 504 00 (alternative 503 00). For R4 TSI engines, the oil standard is 504 00 (alternative 503 00).

After shutting off the engine, wait at least 3 minutes so the oil can flow back into the sump. Pull out the dipstick, wipe with a clean cloth, and push it in again to the limit stop. Pull the dipstick out again and read the oil level. If the level is below the C marking, replenish oil to the A marking. Do not allow the oil level to exceed the A marking.

Tyre pressure should be checked using a tyre inflator. The pressures in the tyre table apply to cold tyres. Do not reduce increased pressures of warm tyres. Adjust the tyre pressure to suit the vehicle load. Tyre pressures can also be found on a sticker attached to the inside of the fuel tank flap.

Brake fluid must under no circumstances come into contact with fluids containing mineral oils (oil, petrol, cleaning solutions) as these will damage seals and sleeves. Brake fluid is poisonous and corrosive, so it must not come into contact with paint. It is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts moisture from the air, and must always be stored in airtight containers. Spilt brake fluid must be washed away with plenty of water, and extracted used brake fluid must not be reused.

Ensure tyre pressures are correct, lenses are not damaged or dirty, reflectors and bulbs are OK, and the vehicle is loaded. Roll the vehicle forward or backward several metres or bounce the front and rear springs several times so the springs settle. The vehicle and headlight adjuster must be on a level surface and aligned.

Switch on the ignition and press button 1 until the Settings menu appears. Select the Time menu option using buttons 2 and 4, then confirm with button 3. When Hours is marked, confirm with button 3 and set the correct hour using buttons 2 and 4. Press button 3 again to set the minutes using the same procedure. The menu can be closed by pressing button 1.

For unit injector engines without a diesel particulate filter, the oil standard is 505 01. For unit injector engines with a diesel particulate filter, the oil standard is 507 00.

A flashing light indicates that the initial basic setting has not been performed. A permanent light in conjunction with a warning tone indicates pressure loss has been recognised, meaning you must check tyre pressures and perform the system basic setting.

The dust and pollen filter for all engine types should be renewed every 60,000 km or 2 years.

Use the required special tools such as a spark plug socket and extension 3122 B and a torque wrench. After removing the ignition coils or engine cover, unscrew the old spark plugs. When installing new spark plugs, screw them in using the spark plug socket and torque them to the specified setting found in the vehicle technical documentation. Ensure ignition coils or connectors are reinstalled and engaged correctly.

Check the concentration of the coolant additive using a refractometer such as the T10007. The concentration must be at least 40% (frost protection to -25 °C) and should not exceed 60% (frost protection to -40 °C). If frost protection is insufficient, drain the required amount of coolant and add the appropriate coolant additive G12 Plus Plus.
