The LEDs and buttons on your TP-LINK TL-PA210 provide information about its status and allow you to configure it. Here are their descriptions:

* Five minutes after the device connected to the adapter is turned off, the adapter will automatically switch to power-saving mode.

It is strongly recommended that you plug the TP-LINK TL-PA210 adapter directly into the wall socket. Some power strips have a surge protector which can filter data and may interfere with the adapter’s performance.

TP-LINK TL-PA210 powerline adapters are designed for Plug and Play installation.

1. Connect one adapter (Adapter A) to your router using an Ethernet cable and plug it into a nearby wall socket.

2. Plug the other adapter (Adapter B) into a wall socket in the room where you need an internet connection, and connect it to your device (e.g., computer, Set-Top Box) with an Ethernet cable.

3. After taking these steps, you can surf the Internet.

NOTE:

1. To surf the Internet, please make sure that your network is properly connected to the Internet.

2. If the adapters fail to automatically link to each other, you can establish a private network by using the pair button.

To add another adapter, simply plug the additional adapter into the wall socket. The connection will be established automatically within 60 seconds.

To set up a private network, follow these steps:

1. Press the pair button on adapter A for 1 second. The Power LED will begin flashing. Note: If you press the button until all LEDs turn off (about 10 seconds), the adapter will leave the network.

2. Within 2 minutes, press the pair button on adapter B for 1 second. The Power LED on this adapter will also begin flashing.

3. In about 60 seconds, the Powerline LEDs on both adapters will light up solid, indicating they have successfully connected to each other.

* It is highly recommended to first set up the two adapters in the same room or on the same power strip and then place them in a suitable location.

If you want to add a new adapter (Adapter C) to an existing private network, follow these steps:

1. Press the pair button on one of the existing adapters (Adapter A or B) for 1 second. Do not press both. The Power LED will begin flashing.

2. Within 2 minutes, press the pair button on the new adapter (Adapter C) for 1 second. The Powerline LED on adapter C will light up in about 60 seconds.

* You can follow the steps above to add more adapters to the private network one by one.

More advanced configuration options, such as reset, firmware upgrade, and renaming the device, can be accessed through the Powerline Utility. This utility can be installed from the Resource CD (for Windows only). For detailed instructions, please refer to the User Guide on the Resource CD.

1. Make sure all the adapters are on the same electric meter.

2. If the Power LED does not light up at all, there may be a hardware problem.

3. The PLC devices might not communicate with each other if they are on different phases of a four-wire three-phase circuit.

4. As some power strips have a surge protector, please make sure the adapters are not separated by the power strips.

Plug the adapters into the same power strip and follow the instructions for “Setting up a private network” to pair them again. If they still don’t work, check for possible interference causes:

1. Air-conditioners, washing machines, and other similar household appliances are working too close to the adapters.

2. An air switch may lead to failed communication among PLC devices; check whether there are air switches hindering communication.
