• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

• Keep ventilation openings, in the appliance enclosure or in the built-in structure, clear of obstruction.

• Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process, other than those recommended by the manufacturer.

• Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.

• Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartments of the appliance, unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer.

• Do not store explosive substances such as aerosol cans with a flammable propellant in this appliance. Ether, benzene, alcohol, thinner, adhesive, spray, LP gas or any chemicals may explode and cause an accident.

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

• When positioning the appliance, ensure the supply cord is not trapped or damaged.

• Do not locate multiple portable socket-outlets or portable power supplies at the rear of the appliance.

• For the Automatic Ice Maker System (AIM), fill with potable water only. This system is not intended to be connected to the water supply pipes.

When disposing of the TOSHIBA GR-RT835WE-PGX, follow these precautions:

• Do not leave it in places where children play.

• To protect children from dangerous confinement inside the refrigerator, remove the door packing so that the door cannot be closed airtightly.

• Please contact your environmental protection unit to deal with the discard of insulation blowing gas and flammable refrigerant.

If the LED light is blown, please contact the service agent approved by TOSHIBA for replacement. The LED light should only be removed by qualified service personnel.

• **Voltage:** Only connect to a main voltage of 220 – 240V. Directly connect to a power socket and do not use multiple sockets, as this may cause fire and electric shock.

• **Power Cord:** The power supply cord or plug should not be pressed or pinched by any objects. Binding, bending, pressing with heavy objects, or applying pressure with the back panel of the refrigerator on the cord and plug may cause fire or electric shock.

• **Malfunction:** In case of malfunction or breakdown, disconnect the power supply by unplugging the power plug. Continued use may cause fire, electric shock, or injury.

• **Unplugging:** Disconnect the power supply by unplugging from the power plug, not by pulling the supply cord. Unplugging from the supply cord may damage the wire insulation, which can cause fire and electric shock.

• **Cleaning:** Disconnect the power plug while cleaning. Dry your hands thoroughly before handling the power plug. Clean and remove dust from the power plug periodically to prevent insufficient circuit connection.

• **Damaged Cord/Plug:** Do not use the appliance if the supply cord is damaged or frayed, or if the power plug has a loose connection. This may cause fire or electric shock.

• **Grounding:** For safety, always ensure the unit is grounded before use. Failure to comply may lead to fire or electric shock from electricity leakage.

• Do not sprinkle water on the body or the inside of the refrigerator, as this may weaken the electric insulation and lead to fire or electric shock.

• Do not disassemble or attempt to service the appliance yourself. All services not described in the operating instructions should be referred to qualified service personnel.

• The refrigerator system contains refrigerant. Do not allow any sharp objects to come into contact with the refrigeration system.

• If the refrigerant circuit is damaged, do not use any electric appliances or fire equipment nearby. Open all windows for ventilation and contact your local maintenance agent.

• Do not hang or stand on the door. It may cause the refrigerator to overturn, the door to come off its hinges, or you may catch your fingers in the door.

• Do not store medicines, chemicals, or chemical reagents. This refrigerator is not suitable for substances that are temperature sensitive.

• Do not place any heavy objects or liquid containers on the refrigerator. Spillage may affect electrical insulation, and falling objects may cause injury.

• Do not eat any food which has changed color or gives out a strange odor, as it may cause food poisoning or illnesses.

• If a gas leak is nearby, do not unplug or touch the refrigerator. Keep the ventilation opening and an electrical spark may cause fire or explosions.

• Carry out regular checks on the outlet and power supply cord for damage from pests like rats or cockroaches, which could lead to a short circuit.

• **Power Plug:** Connect the plug to the power socket firmly. A poor or loose connection can cause a malfunction.

• **Moving:** Lift from the bottom of the refrigerator when moving. If you do not hold the designated positions, your hands may slip, leading to injury. Be careful not to scratch the floor when dragging the refrigerator.

• **Closing the Door:** Use the handle when closing the refrigerator door to avoid accidentally slamming the door on your fingers.

• **Door Seal:** Ensure the doors are closed properly without any gaps between the frame and the rubber packing. Containers inside should not protrude from the edge of the shelf and block the door.

• **Door Opening:** Do not leave the door open for a long period or frequently open and close the doors in short intervals to prevent poor cooling.

• **Condensation:** Remove water droplets, frost, or dew inside the compartment by wiping with a dry cloth after wiping with a warm water-moistened cloth. It will also disappear by itself in a few days.

• **Safety:** Do not stick your hands or feet under the refrigerator. Steel plates and other parts may cause injury.

• **Handling Frozen Items:** Do not touch the freezing unit or ice tray with wet hands, as it may cause frostbite.

• **Storing Bottles:** Do not store bottles in the freezing unit, as they may break when the contents are frozen.

• **Ice Box:** Do not store water in the ice box for ice making, as this may cause it to break. Drain any remaining water in the ice box during an electric shutdown.

Install your TOSHIBA GR-RT835WE-PGX on a strong and level floor. To stabilize the refrigerator horizontally, turn the adjustable leg.

• The adjustable leg on the right side can be adjusted up and down.

• Turn the adjustable leg clockwise to raise the refrigerator, or counter-clockwise to lower it.

• Install the refrigerator to secure its stability and prevent a caster from floating by turning the “Adjustable Leg”.

• **Location:** Avoid any humid or wet places, such as near a kitchen sink. Such places could cause corrosion or electric leakage. If installed directly on the ground, place a board under the refrigerator to prevent damage.

• **Heat Sources:** Keep the refrigerator away from direct sunlight, a gas range, or a heater. Placing it near a heat-emitting object will reduce its cooling effect and may cause a failure.

• **Ventilation:** Select a well-ventilated place. Provide at least 7.5 cm (3 inches) of space at the top, 10 cm (4 inches) at the rear, and 4 cm (1.6 inches) on the left and right for proper air circulation.

• **Rear Clearance:** Ensure clearance between the rear side and the wall. Fix the drain evaporator pan stopper provided with the user manual into its position.

• **Plastic Smell:** When you first open the door, there may be a smell of plastics. This is not unusual.

• **Switching Off:** If you are going away for an extended period, remove all food, clean the interior thoroughly, remove the power cord plug from the power socket, and leave all doors open.

• **Heat Generation:** The compressor will generate heat during normal operation. This is not a malfunction.

• **Heat on Walls:** The condenser is built into the outer shell and radiates heat. The temperature of the outer shell may become high during normal operation. This is not a malfunction.

• **Initial Operation:** When the power is first turned on or the ambient temperature is high, the refrigerator surface may get warm or you may hear noise from the compressor. The refrigerator will run normally once it enters a stable state.

1. First, remove all food.

2. Put a piece of big cloth under the refrigerator and lean it backward to remove water from the drain pan.

3. When carrying, hold the positions at the front lower side and rear upper side. Never hold it by the door or the handle.

4. Please lift from the bottom of the refrigerator when moving.

5. Do not lay the refrigerator on its side, as this may cause it to malfunction.

After disconnecting the plug from the outlet, wait at least 7 minutes before reconnecting it. If the plug is quickly reconnected, the compressor may not run properly and may produce a rattling noise.

1. Keep ventilation openings clear of obstruction.

2. For the most efficient use of energy, set the interior parts such as shelves, crisper, and pockets according to their position mentioned in the instruction booklet.

3. Leave adequate space around the refrigerator: at least 10 cm (4 inches) at the top, 7.5 cm (3 inches) at the rear side, and 4 cm (1.6 inches) on the left and right.

4. Use the refrigerator in a cool place.

5. Keep the refrigerator away from sunlight, a gas range, or a heater.

6. Do not obstruct the outlet and inlet of the cool air circulation with food or containers.

7. Do not put in too much food. Provide enough space for internal cool air circulation.

8. Do not set the temperature of the refrigerator lower than needed.

9. Cool hot food before storing.

10. Open your refrigerator door as briefly as possible.

To ensure the maximum life of your TOSHIBA GR-RT835WE-PGX, periodically clean its parts. When cleaning, be sure to pull out the refrigerator’s plug from the power socket and be careful not to pull the cord or get it caught under the machine. Do not pour water directly on the refrigerator.

• **Outside Surfaces:** Polish them with a soft rag. A heavy stain should be wiped off with a rag soaked in a natural detergent. The door handle should be wiped with a dry cloth. Using a cleanser solution will cause the external finishes to change colors and scratch.

• **Door Packing:** The packing on the doors will be short-lived if stains are not removed. Occasionally, inspect the packing on the doors, and remove any stain with a natural detergent.

• **Interior Plastic Units:** If they are stained or have any odor, the interior plastic units should be cleaned with a natural detergent. When smeared with salad oil or other cooking oil, the interior plastic unit may crack. Wipe such smears off.

1. Open the water supply cap following the arrow direction.

2. Fill the water tank to the “WATER LEVEL” line and close the cap.

3. Carefully hold the tank. If the tank tilts or shakes, the water will spill over.

4. Push the water-fill tank inside until it stops. Install the tank with the tank stopper facing your body.

Note:

• It is recommended to use chlorinated water. If using other kinds of water, ensure its purity.

• To detach the tank, do not pull the tank stopper as this will open the tank and cause water to spill.

• To prevent damp and molds, wash the tank with clean water every time before use.

1. Fill the ice tray with water up to the water level line. If the water exceeds the water level line, it will freeze over and become hard to remove.

2. To remove ice, twist the ice tray as shown in the instructions.

Generally, the ice maker produces ice within 2 hours each time (10 ice cubes for Automatic, 32 for Twist) with an outside temperature of 30°C and the door closed. The following situations can lengthen the time of making ice:

• When the door is frequently opened and closed or when a large amount of food is stored in the freezer.

• When the outside temperature is higher, or ventilation around the freezer is poor.

• When the refrigerator operates for the first time or the freezing compartment is not cold enough, it takes about 5 to 6 hours to make ice. It can sometimes take more than 24 hours if the outside temperature is rather high.

• Do not disassemble, improve, or modify it. This can cause fire, an electric shock, or an injury.

• Do not touch the producing parts (the upper part of the ice box) of the automatic ice maker. If the ice maker tray is rotating, you may get hurt.

• To prevent damp and molds, wash the tank with clean water every time before use.

• For the first time use or when not in use for a week or more, throw away all of the first-time ice (about 30 cubes). Sometimes, the ice cubes may be smelly and contaminated with some particles.

• Do not fill the tank with anything other than water, such as hot water (above 60°C) or fruit juice.

• If foreign matter falls into the tank, carefully check if the tank leaks or breaks.

• Fill with potable water only.

1. Detach the tank and pour out all water.

2. Press and hold the ‘Fridge’ and ‘Super FRZ’ buttons at the same time for about 5 seconds. The LED will light up at ‘Fridge’ and ‘Freezer’ for 2 seconds. The ice maker tray will turn upside down, and the ice cubes will drop into the ice box. Do not open the freezer door until the operation is finished.

3. Open the freezer and throw away the water or the ice cubes inside the ice box.

4. After cleaning the freezer and the tank, dry them and reinstall.

• Check if water has remained in the tank for a long time. Water left for a long time can cause ice to absorb food odors.

• Check if the tank is dirty or if smelly water/beverages were used.

• Check for stinking food inside the freezer.

• For melting/sticking ice, check if the freezer door has been opened often or for a long time, if the ice box was removed for a long time, if there was a power failure, or if the ice has been kept for a long time.

• If ice has been kept for a long time, the cubes may become round.

• If the ice is made from water containing many minerals (e.g., mineral water), it can cause white stains (calcium crystals) in the ice cubes. This does not deteriorate your health.

• It may be noisy when ice cubes drop into the ice box, especially when there are few cubes. The noise will become lighter as the amount of ice increases.

• If the tank is empty, the pump will operate with noise.

• Check if the pump is installed properly; improper installation may cause noise.

• The ice may break a little when ejected from the ice maker tray.

• Check if there is any water inside the tank.

• If the refrigerator just started operating, it can take 5 to 6 hours to make ice (or over 24 hours if the outside temperature is high).

• Check if food is stored in the ice box inside the freezer.

• Ensure the tank is in the proper position.

• The door may have been opened frequently or for a long time, raising the temperature inside the freezer.

• Make sure the door is completely closed.

Weekly Maintenance (Tank and lid):

1. Pull the tank stopper upwards and detach the cover.

2. Clean the parts. Do not use bleach, cleanser, hot water (above 60°C), a scrubbing brush, thinner, or benzene. Do not pour washed water on the water inlet valve installation area.

3. Re-install all parts correctly. Unless parts are re-installed, water will spill over or ice cannot be made.

4. After maintenance, hang the “hook” of the cover to the inside of the tank and fasten it with the tank stopper facing you. If the cover is not completely closed, ice cannot be made.

Monthly Maintenance (Water supply pipe and pump):

1. To detach, turn the water supply pipe following the arrow direction and remove it from the cap. Do not remove the pipe itself from its fitting, as this may cause damage.

2. Pull the pump out of the water supply pipe-A.

3. To release the cap, rotate it following the arrow direction as shown in the manual.

4. Lightly clean the water supply pipe-A, pump impeller, pump box, and pump cap with a sponge dampened with clean water.

5. To re-install, reverse the steps. For the pump, push the axle protruding from the pump into the edged hole of the water supply pipe-A.

If the refrigerator is not cold at all:

• Is the refrigerator plugged into the socket properly?

• Has the fuse for your house’s electricity supply blown, or has the circuit breaker shut off?

If the refrigerator is not cold enough:

• Is the temperature control dial set to “MIN”?

• Is the refrigerator placed in direct sunlight or near a stove and a heater?

• Is the door closed properly?

• Is the door being opened and closed too frequently in a short time?

• Has anything hot been placed in the refrigerator?

• Is the refrigerator overloaded?

• Is there sufficient air circulation around the refrigerator?

• Has the electricity supply been shut off?

• Check if the temperature control dial is set to “MAX”.

• Is the surrounding temperature lower than 5°C?

• Did you place food with high moisture content at the rear of the compartment? This area can cause freezing.

• Is the floor firm and level?

• Are there any trays or dishes around the refrigerator?

• Is the refrigerator installed unstably or does it touch the wall?

• **Moisture on the outside:** Sometimes, moisture may form on the outside, particularly when humidity is high, such as during the rainy season. This is similar to moisture on a glass of cold water and does not indicate a malfunction. If there is moisture on the outside, wipe it off with a dry cloth.

• **Moisture and flake inside:** This can happen if the door is frequently opened and closed, or left open for a long time, or if food with high moisture is stored uncovered. If there is moisture and flake inside, wipe it off with a dry cloth.

Touch the buttons with your hand when using each function.

Energy Saving:

• Press ‘Fridge’ to enter energy saving mode; the ECO icon will appear.

• To cancel, press ‘Fridge’ again, and the icon will disappear.

• Note: In this mode, the freezer temperature will rise by 1-2 degrees. Disable this function if beverages are not cool enough or ice making takes too long.

Quick Freezing:

• Press ‘Freezer’ to enter quick freezing mode; the quick freeze icon will appear.

• To disable, press ‘Freezer’ again, and the icon will disappear.

• Note: The freezer will operate continuously at a low temperature for 150 minutes and then return to normal operation. You can deactivate this mode manually once the desired temperature is reached.

Temperature Controls (Freezer compartment):

• Press ‘Fridge’ to decrease the freezing level (make it warmer).

• Press ‘Freezer’ to increase the freezing level (make it colder).

Temperature Setting of Refrigerating Chamber:

• The temperature setting range is 2°C to 8°C.

• When the cold storage room is selected, press the up temperature button (A) to increase the temperature by 1 degree per press. Press the down temperature button (C) to decrease the temperature by 1 degree per press.

Temperature Setting of Freezing Chamber:

• The temperature setting range is -16°C to -24°C.

• When the freezing chamber is selected, press the up temperature button (A) to increase the temperature (make it less cold) by 1 degree. Press the down temperature button (C) to decrease the temperature (make it colder) by 1 degree.

Mode Setting:

• **Quick Cooling:** After adjusting the refrigeration temperature down to 2 degrees, press the temperature adjustment button again to enter quick cooling mode. The quick cooling icon will light up. Press the button again to exit.

• **Quick Freeze:** After adjusting the freezing temperature down to -24 degrees, press the temperature adjustment button again to enter quick freezing mode. The quick freezing icon will light up. Press the button again to exit.

Locking/Unlocking:

• In the non-locking state, press and hold the lock button (D) for 3 seconds to enter the locking state; the lock buzzer will sound.

• In the locking state, press and hold the lock button (D) for 3 seconds to enter the non-locking state; the unlocking buzzer will sound.

• The panel will lock automatically after 30 seconds of no button operation.

The following warnings on the display indicate corresponding faults. Though the refrigerator may still have refrigerating and freezing functions with these faults, you should contact a maintenance specialist to ensure normal use.
