Please adhere to the following safety instructions when using your TOSHIBA GR-RT835WE-PMX refrigerator:

General Use:

• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

Ventilation and Defrosting:

• Keep ventilation openings, in the appliance enclosure or in the built-in structure, clear of obstruction.

• Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process, other than those recommended by the manufacturer.

Refrigerant and Electricals:

• Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.

• Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartments of the appliance, unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer.

Storage:

• Do not store explosive substances such as aerosol cans with a flammable propellant in this appliance. Ether, benzene, alcohol, thinner, adhesive, spray, LP gas, or any chemicals may explode and cause an accident.

Disposal:

• When disposing of the refrigerator, do not leave it in places where children play.

• To protect children from dangerous confinement, remove the door packing so that the door cannot be closed airtightly.

Maintenance and Installation:

• If the LED light is blown, it should only be removed by qualified service personnel.

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

• When positioning the appliance, ensure the supply cord is not trapped or damaged.

• Do not locate multiple portable socket-outlets or portable power supplies at the rear of the appliance.

Water for Ice Maker:

• Fill with potable water only. The Automatic Ice Maker System (AIM) is not intended to be connected to the water supply pipes. For ice making, you should fill the water tank with potable water only.

To ensure electrical safety, please follow these guidelines:

• Grounding: For safety reasons, always ensure the unit is grounded before use. Failure to comply may lead to fire or electric shock from electricity leakage.

• Voltage: Only connect to a main voltage of 220-240V. Connect directly to a power socket and do not use multiple sockets, as this may cause fire and electric shock.

• Power Cord and Plug:

– The power supply cord or plug should not be pressed or pinched by any objects. Binding, bending, pressing with heavy objects, or applying pressure with the back panel of the refrigerator on the cord and plug may cause fire or electric shock.

– In case of malfunction or breakdown, disconnect the power supply by unplugging the power plug. Continued use may cause fire, electric shock, injury, or skin burn.

– Disconnect the power supply by unplugging from the power plug, not by pulling the cord itself, as this may damage the wire insulation and cause fire or electric shock.

– Disconnect the power plug while cleaning to avoid injury and electric shock. Dry your hands thoroughly before handling the power plug.

– Clean and remove dust from the power plug periodically. An insufficient circuit connection may cause a fire.

– Do not use the appliance if the supply cord is damaged or frayed, or if the power plug has a loose connection. This may cause fire or electric shock.

• Water: Do not sprinkle water on the body or the inside of the refrigerator. This may weaken the electric insulation, which may lead to fire and electric shock.

Follow these steps for proper installation of your TOSHIBA GR-RT835WE-PMX:

1. Stabilize the Refrigerator: Install your refrigerator on a strong and level floor. Turn the adjustable leg on the right side to stabilize the refrigerator horizontally. Turn the adjustable leg clockwise to raise it or counter-clockwise to lower it. This will secure the stability of the refrigerator.

2. Choose a Location:

• Avoid any humid or wet places, such as near a kitchen sink. This could cause corrosion or electric leakage. If installed directly on the ground, place a board under the machine to prevent damage.

• Keep the refrigerator away from direct sunlight, a gas range, or a heater. Placing it near a heat source will reduce its cooling effect and might cause a failure.

3. Provide Adequate Space:

• Select a well-ventilated place. For proper air circulation, provide at least 7.5 cm (3 inches) of space at the top, 10 cm (4 inches) at the rear, and 4 cm (1.6 inches) on the left and right sides.

4. Ensure Rear Clearance: Fix the drain evaporator pan stopper (provided with the user manual) into its position to ensure proper clearance between the rear of the refrigerator and the wall.

Initial Use:

• When you first open the door of the refrigerator, there may be a smell of plastics. This is not unusual.

• During initial power-on or when the ambient temperature is high, it’s normal for the refrigerator surface to get warm or to hear noise from the compressor. The refrigerator will run normally once it enters a stable state.

When moving and transporting your TOSHIBA GR-RT835WE-PMX, follow these cautions:

1. First, remove all food from the refrigerator.

2. Place a piece of big cloth under the refrigerator. Lean the refrigerator backward to remove water from the drain pan.

3. When carrying, hold the refrigerator by the front lower side and the rear upper side. Never hold it by the door or the handle.

4. When moving, lift from the bottom of the refrigerator.

5. Do not lay the refrigerator on its side, as this may cause it to malfunction.

6. After disconnecting the plug from the outlet, wait at least 7 minutes before reconnecting it. If the plug is quickly reconnected, the compressor may not run properly and may produce a rattling noise.

To get the most efficient use of energy for your TOSHIBA GR-RT835WE-PMX, follow these guidelines:

1. Keep ventilation openings in the appliance enclosure or built-in structure clear of obstruction.

2. For maximum efficiency, interior parts such as shelves, crisper, and pockets should be set according to their positions mentioned in the instruction booklet.

3. Leave adequate space around the refrigerator: at least 10 cm (4 inches) at the top, 7.5 cm (3 inches) at the rear, and 4 cm (1.6 inches) on the left and right sides.

4. Use the refrigerator in a cool place.

5. Keep the refrigerator away from sunlight, a gas range, or a heater.

6. Do not obstruct the outlet and inlet of the cool air circulation with food or containers.

7. Do not put in too much food. Provide enough space for internal cool air circulation.

8. Do not set the temperature of the refrigerator lower than needed.

9. Hot food should be cooled before storing.

10. Open your refrigerator door as briefly as possible.

Touch the buttons on the control panel with your hand to use each function.

Energy Saving Mode

Use this operation to switch the refrigerator to an energy-saving mode.

• To start: Press Fridge to enter energy saving mode. The “ECO” icon will appear.

• To cancel: Press Fridge again, and the “ECO” icon will disappear.

Quick Freezing Mode

Use this operation when you want to cool beverages or other items quickly.

• To start: Press Freezer to enter quick freezing mode. The quick freeze icon will appear.

• To disable: Press Freezer again, and the icon will disappear.

Notes on Special Modes:

• In energy-saving mode, the freezer compartment temperature will rise approximately 1-2°C above the preset temperature. Disable this function if you feel beverages are not cool enough or ice making takes too long.

• In quick freezing mode, the freezing compartment will operate at a low temperature continuously for 150 minutes and then return to normal operation.

Temperature Controls (Freezer compartment)

The temperature is set automatically, but you can adjust it manually:

• Press Fridge to decrease the freezing level (make it less cold).

• Press Freezer to increase the freezing level (make it colder).

The temperature settings are displayed on a scale from 1 to 6 for both the refrigerator and freezer compartments. Position “3” is the standard setting.

• Fridge setting “3”: approximately 5-6°C

• Freezer setting “3”: approximately -19 to -20°C

Higher numbers (4-6) make the compartment colder, while lower numbers (1-2) make it warmer.

Follow these steps to use the Automatic Ice Maker:

1. Open the water supply cap on the water tank following the arrow direction.

2. Fill the tank with potable water up to the “WATER LEVEL” line, then close the cap.

3. Carefully hold the tank to avoid tilting or shaking, which could cause water to spill over.

4. Push the water-filled tank inside until it stops. Ensure the tank stopper is facing you when installing.

Note:

• It is recommended to use chlorinated water. If using other types of water, ensure it is pure.

• To prevent dampness and molds, wash the tank with clean water before every use.

• Generally, the ice maker produces 10 ice cubes within 2 hours with an outside temperature of 30°C and the door closed. Ice-making time will be longer if the door is opened frequently, the freezer is full, or the ambient temperature is high. On the first use, it may take 5-6 hours to make ice.

1. Fill the ice tray with water up to the water level line. If the water exceeds the line, the ice will freeze over and become hard to remove.

2. To remove ice, twist the ice tray as shown in the figure in the user manual.

Note:

• Generally, the ice maker produces 32 ice cubes within 2 hours with an outside temperature of 30°C and the door closed. Ice-making time will be longer if the door is opened frequently, the freezer is full, or the ambient temperature is high. On the first use, it may take 5-6 hours to make ice.

General Cautions:

• Do not disassemble, improve, or modify the ice maker.

• Do not touch the ice-producing parts (the upper part of the ice box) when the tray is rotating, as this may cause injury.

• Wash the tank with clean water before every use to prevent dampness and molds.

• For the first time use, or after not using it for a week or more, throw away the first batch of ice (about 30 cubes) as it may be smelly or contaminated.

• Do not fill the tank with anything other than water, such as hot water (above 60°C) or fruit juice.

• If foreign matter falls into the tank, check if the tank leaks or is broken.

• Only fill with potable water.

When Not in Use for a Long Time / When Moving:

1. Detach the tank and pour out all water.

2. Press the Fridge and Freezer buttons on the control panel at the same time for about 5 seconds. The LED will light up for 2 seconds, and the ice maker tray will turn upside down, dropping any ice into the ice box. Do not open the freezer door until the operation has finished.

3. Open the freezer and throw away the water or ice cubes inside the ice box.

4. After cleaning the freezer and the tank, dry them and reinstall.

Weekly Maintenance (Tank and Lid):

1. Pull the tank stopper upwards and detach the cover.

2. Clean the parts. Do not use bleach, cleanser, hot water (above 60°C), a scrubbing brush, thinner, or benzene.

3. Re-install all parts correctly. After maintenance, hang the “hook” of the cover to the inside of the tank and fasten it with the tank stopper.

Monthly Maintenance (Water Supply Pipe and Pump):

1. Turn the water supply pipe following the arrow direction to remove it from the cap.

2. Pull the pump out of the water supply pipe-A.

3. Rotate to release the pump cap.

4. Lightly clean the water supply pipe-A, pump impeller, pump box, and pump cap with a sponge dampened with clean water.

5. Reassemble all parts correctly.

To ensure the maximum life of your refrigerator, periodically clean its parts. Before cleaning, always pull the refrigerator’s plug from the power socket. Be careful not to pull the cord or get it caught under the machine. Do not pour water directly on the refrigerator.

Outside Surfaces:

• Polish them with a soft rag. A heavy stain should be wiped off with a rag soaked in a natural detergent.

• The door handle should be wiped with a dry cloth. (Using a cleanser solution will cause the external finishes to change colors and scratch).

Door Packing:

• The packing on the doors will be short-lived if stains are not removed. Occasionally, inspect the packing on the doors and remove any stain with a natural detergent.

Interior Plastic Units:

• If they are stained or have any odor, the interior plastic units should be cleaned with a natural detergent.

• When smeared with salad oil or other cooking oil, the interior plastic unit may crack. Wipe such smears off.

If your refrigerator is not cold, please check the following:

• Is the refrigerator plugged into the socket properly?

• Has the fuse for your house’s electricity supply blown, or has the circuit breaker shut off?

If your refrigerator is not sufficiently cold, check these points:

• Is the temperature control dial set to “MIN”?

• Is the refrigerator placed in direct sunlight or near a stove and a heater?

• Is the door closed properly?

• Is the door being opened and closed too frequently in a short time?

• Has anything hot been placed in the refrigerator?

• Is the refrigerator overloaded?

• Is there sufficient air circulation around the refrigerator?

• Has the electricity supply been shut off?

If food is freezing in the refrigerator compartment, please check the following:

• Is the temperature control dial set to “MAX”?

• Is the surrounding temperature lower than 5°C?

• Did you place food with high moisture content at the rear of the compartment? This area can cause freezing.

If you notice noise from your refrigerator, check these possible causes:

• Is the floor firm and level?

• Are there any trays or dishes around the refrigerator?

• Is the refrigerator installed unstably, or does it touch the wall?

Sometimes, moisture may form on the outside of the refrigerator, particularly when humidity is high, such as during the rainy season. This is similar to moisture forming on a glass of cold water and does not indicate a malfunction. If there is moisture on the outside of the refrigerator, wipe it off with a dry cloth.

If you find moisture or frost inside the refrigerator, consider the following:

• Is the door frequently closed and opened or left open for a long time?

• Is there any food with high moisture stored uncovered in the refrigerator?

If there is moisture and flake inside the refrigerator, wipe it off with a dry cloth.

The following warnings appearing on the display indicate corresponding faults of the refrigerator. Though the refrigerator may still have a freezing function with the following faults, the user should contact a maintenance specialist for maintenance to ensure normal use of the refrigerator.
