The TELEX ECHELON ANR 150 headset includes several design features for fit, comfort, and functionality:

Fit and Comfort:

A unique headband design distributes ear cushion pressure evenly over the entire ear, folding into a compact shape for storage.

A clamp adjustment on each knuckle allows for adjustment for greater noise reduction or greater comfort.

Earcups pivot on two planes to conform to any wearer.

Detented sliders adjust the headband for the best fit on any head size.

A large, replaceable wide head pad evenly distributes the headset’s weight.

Comfortable foam-filled ear cushions are standard.

Boom Microphone:

A flexible gooseneck boom permits precise microphone placement.

The boom rotates overhead to allow the microphone to be used on either the right or left side of the head.

It features a plug-in, noise-canceling electret microphone cartridge that unsnaps for easy replacement.

Cordage and Plugs:

The microphone cordage is protected inside the boom arm, and shielded wire is used throughout to protect against RFI and EMI.

The headset has a separate plug to connect to either a battery module or an aircraft power module.

It includes separate microphone and receiver plugs. The receiver plug is a stereo type, with a selector switch on the cord for monaural operation.

The battery module requires one 9-volt battery. Alkaline batteries are recommended for the best performance; do not use nickel-cadmium rechargeable or lithium batteries. Follow these steps to install the battery:

1. Slide the battery door over in the direction of the arrow, then lift it up to remove it.

2. Snap the 9V battery onto the battery connector and place the battery into the case.

3. Slide the battery door back into place.

1. Connect the Headset: Connect the plugs as shown in the manual. The power plug connects to the battery module or aircraft power module. The receiver plug connects to the radio receiver “OUT” jack. The microphone plug connects to the radio microphone “IN” jack. Set the MONO/STEREO headphone switch to match the type of sound system in your aircraft.

2. Position the Microphone: Rotate the entire boom overhead to wear the microphone on either the right or left side of your head. For best noise cancellation, position the microphone as close to your mouth as possible and speak in a normal voice.

3. Activate/Deactivate Noise Reduction: To activate the ANR (Active Noise Reduction) feature, plug the headset into the battery or aircraft power module. To turn off noise reduction, unplug the headset from the power module.

4. Adjust for Proper Fit: With the headband resting securely on top of your head, check that the earcups are centered over your ears. Reposition them if necessary by moving the headband sliders in or out. Proper performance depends on a proper fit.

The TELEX ECHELON ANR 150 headset has three headband pressure settings: LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH. Increasing the pressure improves the seal between the earcup and the head for greater noise reduction. To change the setting:

1. Remove the headset from your head.

2. Fold the earcup inward.

3. Rotate the Comfort Cam Adjustment Knob to the desired setting (LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH).

4. Repeat for the other earcup. Both sides of the headband should be set to the same pressure setting to keep the headband properly centered on your head.

The following procedure is recommended to ensure that there will be sufficient radio volume in the event of a loss of power to the headset:

a. Turn the headset power off (unplug it from the power module).

b. Set the headset volume controls (located on the earcups) to the middle of their range.

c. Using the aircraft radio volume control, adjust the headphone volume for clear communication under typical operating conditions.

d. Turn on the headset power (plug it into the power module) and adjust the volume controls on the headset to achieve clear communication with noise reduction activated.

If the battery power is too low for normal ANR (Active Noise Reduction) operation or if the power module is disconnected, the TELEX ECHELON ANR 150 headset will perform like a standard headset, maintaining communications with the aircraft radio. This ensures you do not lose communication capabilities if power to the ANR circuit is lost.
