The SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2 headset is not for use by children under age 12.

Before using the SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2, please be aware of the following health and safety information:

General Health: Do not use the PS VR if you are tired, dizzy, light-headed, nauseous, sick, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or have an impaired sense of motion or balance. Consult a doctor before use if you suffer from a serious medical condition.

Motion Sickness: Some people may experience motion sickness, nausea, disorientation, or blurred vision. If experienced, stop using immediately and remove the VR headset. Rest and do not engage in activities that require unimpaired vision, balance, or coordination until symptoms have completely disappeared.

Other Symptoms: IMMEDIATELY DISCONTINUE USE and consult your doctor before resuming gameplay if you or your child experience any of the following: dizziness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitches, loss of awareness, disorientation, seizures, or any involuntary movement or convulsion. RESUME GAMEPLAY ONLY ON APPROVAL OF YOUR DOCTOR.

Discomfort: DISCONTINUE USE IMMEDIATELY if you experience headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, symptoms similar to motion sickness, or discomfort or pain in any body part such as eyes, ears, hands, arms, or feet while playing. If the condition persists, seek medical attention.

Initial Use: It may take some time to become accustomed to virtual reality. During initial use, it is recommended that you use the product for short periods of time.

If you have an epileptic condition or have had seizures, consult your doctor prior to using the SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2.

Some individuals are sensitive to flashing or flickering lights or geometric shapes and patterns and may have an undetected epileptic condition. They may experience epileptic seizures when playing videogames or watching video content. DISCONTINUE USE IMMEDIATELY and consult your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms when exposed to light stimulation: eye soreness, altered vision, migraine, muscle twitching, convulsion or other involuntary movements, blackout, loss of awareness, or confusion or disorientation.

To ensure a safe experience with your SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2, follow these guidelines:

Clear the Play Area: The VR headset will restrict your view and does not detect obstacles. Review your surroundings and clear obstacles from an area larger than the Play Area. Make sure you are not near walls, stairs, furniture, or other obstacles that you may collide with or trip over.

Prevent Intrusions: Take steps to prevent pets, persons, or other obstacles from entering the Play Area during use.

Stay Centered: Remain in the center of the Play Area and do not walk around while wearing the VR headset. Remain seated whenever possible. Avoid extreme or excessive movements of the head, limbs, or body. If an application requires you to stand, follow the application instructions carefully.

Check the Cable: Before playing, check that the VR headset cable is not wrapped around your body or limbs, and check frequently during play.

Stable Location: Do not use the product in a location that may be subject to shaking or other unstable conditions.

It is generally recommended that you take 15-minute breaks for every hour of play with the SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2. However, the length and frequency of necessary breaks may vary from person to person. Take breaks that are long enough to allow any feelings of discomfort to subside. Do not use the product when you are tired or need sleep.

Permanent hearing loss may occur if the headset or headphones are used at high volume. Set the volume to a safe level. Over time, increasingly loud audio may start to sound normal but can be damaging your hearing. If you experience ringing, discomfort in your ears, or muffled speech, stop listening and have your hearing checked. The louder the volume, the sooner your hearing could be affected.

To protect your hearing:

• Limit the amount of time you use the headset or headphones at high volume.

• Avoid raising the volume to block out noisy surroundings.

• Lower the volume if you can’t hear people speaking near you.

Inspection: Regularly inspect the AC power cord for damage and dust build-up around the power plug or electricity supply.

Proper Use: Only use the supplied AC adaptor and AC power cord. They are designed exclusively for the SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2 and should not be used with other products. Do not plug the AC power cord into an electricity supply until you have connected the HDMI cables.

Abnormal Function: Stop use, unplug the AC power cord, and disconnect other cables immediately if the device functions abnormally, produces unusual sounds or smells, or becomes too hot to touch.

Easy Access: Connect the product so you have easy access to the socket outlet in case you need to disconnect it for any reason.

Handling: Do not touch the plug of the AC power cord with wet hands. Do not use the AC adaptor if it is covered by a cloth, as it may overheat. Do not connect the AC power cord to a voltage transformer or inverter.

Unplugging: Unplug the AC power cord before cleaning or when not in use for an extended period. Unplug the AC power cord only when the status indicator on the processor unit is red; unplugging while it is white or flashing red may cause a malfunction.

Skin Discomfort: If the VR headset or headphones cause discomfort to your skin, discontinue use immediately. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention.

Unplugging Headset: Do not unplug the VR headset cable until the tracking lights are turned off. Doing so may cause a malfunction.

Physical Handling: Do not swing the VR headset or AC adaptor by their cables. Do not place objects on the product, throw, drop, or expose it to strong physical impact. Do not put heavy objects on the product.

Exterior Care: To prevent the product exterior from deteriorating or discolouring, do not use solvents or other chemicals on it, and do not allow rubber or vinyl materials to be in prolonged contact with it.

Low-Temperature Burns: Avoid prolonged bodily contact with the processor unit, AC adaptor, or air from the vents when the product is on to prevent low-temperature burns (burns from contact with objects 40°C or more for an extended time).

Contaminants: Do not allow liquid, dust, small particles, smoke, or steam to get into the product. Check that connectors are free of dust and small particles before connecting.

Child Safety: Keep the product out of the reach of small children. They may swallow small parts, pull on cables causing the unit to fall, or wrap cables around themselves, which can cause injury.

Disassembly: Never disassemble or modify the product or accessories. Doing so will void the warranty and risk fire, electrical shock, or malfunction.

It is important to place the SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2 headset on your head properly during use. Do not overtighten the adjustment dial. Regularly check the headset’s fit to ensure it is worn properly.

You can wear the VR headset over your glasses, but take care that your glasses do not touch the VR headset lenses, as this could damage your glasses, the VR headset lenses, or both. Ensure your glasses fit well so they don’t move around. Be careful when adjusting the scope and headband, and do not push in or pull out the scope excessively.

Screen Care:

• Do not expose the lenses of the VR headset to direct sunlight or intense light. This may damage the VR headset screen and cause a malfunction.

• Keep the VR headset’s attachment sensor free from any obstacles. If the attachment sensor is blocked, the screen will not turn off automatically when you remove the headset. If an image stays on the screen for an extended period, it might cause screen burn, leaving a faint image permanently on the screen.

Screen Pixels:

• Black (dark) pixels and continuously lit pixels may appear in certain locations on the screen. The appearance of such spots is a normal occurrence associated with screens made using highly precise technology and is not a sign of a system malfunction. A very small number of dark or continuously lit pixels may exist, and color or brightness irregularities may be visible on each screen.

Unresponsive Behavior: If the SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2 behaves unusually or is unresponsive, press the (power) button on the VR headset for at least 7 seconds to force a shutdown. Then, turn the headset on again. If the problem persists, restart the PS4 console.

High Temperature Message: If the processor unit’s internal temperature becomes elevated, a message will be displayed. In this case, turn off the PS4 console and leave it unused for a while. After the processor unit cools down, move it to a location with good ventilation, and then resume use. Do not block the processor unit’s vents or use it in a closed cabinet where heat may build up.

Moisture Condensation: If the PS VR is brought from a cold to a warm location, moisture may condense inside the headset and processor unit, preventing proper operation. If this happens, turn off the VR headset, unplug the AC power cord, and do not use the product until the moisture evaporates, which may take several hours.

To properly store your SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2:

• Do not expose the product or accessories to high temperatures, high humidity, or direct sunlight during operation, transportation, and storage.

• Do not heat the product with kitchen or heating equipment such as a dryer, as this may lead to fire, injury, or malfunction.

• Do not place the product or accessories on surfaces that are unstable, tilted, or subject to vibration.

The SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2 is used with a PS4 console and PlayStation®Camera to create a virtual reality experience. The camera captures the position, angle, and movement of the VR headset.

• Always update your PS4 system software and PS VR device software to the most recent version.

• You must connect your VR headset to the supplied CUH-ZVR2 processor unit. The headset will not work if connected to a CUH-ZVR1 processor unit.

• To use your PlayStation Camera for PS4 with a PS5 console, use the included PlayStation Camera adaptor. Connect the adaptor to the camera and the USB Type-A port on the back of your PS5 console.

PS VR Settings:

To configure settings for your SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2, go to the PS4 console’s function screen, and then select (Settings) > [Devices] > [PlayStation VR]. These settings are available only when PS VR is connected to the PS4 console. You can also configure some settings from the quick menu that appears when you press and hold the (PS) button on the controller.

Parental Controls:

The PS4 console contains settings that parents or guardians can configure to restrict use of the product by children. To configure settings for each child, go to the PS4 console’s function screen, and then select (Settings) > [Parental Controls/Family Management].

The status indicator light on the front of the SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2 processor unit indicates its status:

• White: Powered on

• Red: Rest mode

The stereo headphones for the SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2 come with M size earpieces attached. You can replace them with the S or L size earpieces for a better fit. To remove an earpiece, twist it and then pull it off the headphone. Install the new earpieces firmly to help prevent them from accidentally detaching during use.

Be sure to follow the instructions below to clean and maintain your SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2. For safety, unplug the AC power cord and disconnect any other cables before cleaning.

• General Cleaning: Do not use solvents or other chemicals on exterior surfaces. Do not use a chemically-treated cleaning cloth to wipe the product.

• Exteriors, Head Supports, Connectors: If the processor unit exterior, VR headset exterior, head supports, or connectors are dirty, wipe them with a soft, dry cloth. If connectors are dirty, signals may not be sent or received properly, and you may experience noise or sound interruptions.

• Lenses: Wipe only with a soft, dry cloth made specifically for cleaning lenses. Do not use paper products like paper towels or tissues not specifically intended for lenses. Prolonged contact with water or dust may damage the lenses and shorten their life.

• Light Shield: Remove the light shield from the VR headset and wash it with water. Dry it completely with a soft cloth before reattaching it. Reattach the light shield by matching the nubs on the shield to the 13 holes on the VR headset.

• Vents: Remove dust build-up from the vents on the processor unit using a vacuum cleaner or similar product.

• Earpieces: Remove the earpieces from the stereo headphones and wash them by hand with a mild detergent. Dry them completely with a soft cloth before reattaching them.

When disposing of the SONY PLAYSTATION VR CUH-ZVR2, which is made from metal and plastic materials, follow local regulations for proper disposal. The symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin on the product or packaging indicates it should not be disposed of as general household waste in the EU, Turkey, or other countries with separate waste collection systems. To ensure correct waste treatment, please dispose of it via an authorized collection facility. Waste electrical products may also be disposed of free of charge via retailers when buying a new product of the same type. In some EU countries, larger retailers may accept small waste electronic products free of charge.
