• Keep all parts of the body away from the saw chain when the chain saw is operating. Before you start the chain saw, make sure the saw chain is not contacting anything.

• Wear safety glasses and hearing protection. Further protective equipment for the head, hands, legs, and feet is recommended.

• Do not operate a chainsaw in a tree. Operation of a chainsaw while up in a tree may result in personal injury.

• Carry the chain saw by the front handle with the chain saw switched off and away from your body. When transporting or storing the chain saw always fit the guide bar cover.

• Follow instructions for lubricating, chain tensioning, and changing accessories. An improperly tensioned or lubricated chain may either break or increase the chance of kickback.

• Cut wood only. Do not use the RONIX 8651 for purposes not intended, such as cutting plastic, masonry, or non-wood building materials.

• Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Greasy, oily handles are slippery, causing loss of control.

• Maintain a firm grip, with thumbs and fingers encircling the chain saw handles, with both hands on the saw. Position your body and arm to allow you to resist kickback forces. Do not let go of the chainsaw.

• Do not overreach and do not cut above shoulder height. This helps prevent unintended tip contact and enables better control of the chain saw in unexpected situations.

The battery for your RONIX 8651 needs to be charged before first use and whenever it fails to produce sufficient power. When charging for the first time or after prolonged storage, it will only accept an 80% charge. The battery will attain full capacity after several charge and discharge cycles. The battery may become warm while charging; this is normal.

To charge, remove the battery from the tool and insert it into the charge station. The battery pack will only fit into the charger in one way. Do not force it. Be sure that the battery is fully seated in the charger.

If the remaining battery capacity is too low, the RONIX 8651 will not operate. In this situation, you must remove and recharge the battery.

1. Allow the battery to cool down before charging after using the saw. A hot battery placed in the charger will not charge.

2. Do not charge the battery pack in an air temperature below 40°F (4 °C) or above 104°F (40 °C). This is important and will prevent serious damage to the battery pack. The longest life and best performance can be obtained if the battery pack is charged when the air temperature is about 75°F (24°C).

3. While charging, the charger may hum and become warm to the touch. This is a normal condition and does not indicate a problem.

4. If the battery pack does not charge properly, check the current at the receptacle by plugging in a lamp or other appliance and check to see if the receptacle is connected to a light switch which turns the power off when you turn out the lights.

5. To prolong battery life, avoid leaving the battery pack on the charger for extended periods (over 30 days without use), as it can significantly reduce overall battery life.

Removing the battery: To remove the battery cartridge, slide it from the tool while sliding the button on the front of the cartridge.

Installing the battery: To install the battery cartridge, align the tongue on the battery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slip it into place. Insert it until it locks in place with a little click.

To prevent the switch trigger from being accidentally pulled, a lock-off button is provided on the RONIX 8651. To start the tool, depress the lock-off button and pull the switch trigger. Release the switch trigger to stop the tool.

Always be sure that the tool is switched off and the battery cartridge is removed before carrying out any work on the tool.

1. Loosen the screw by turning the knob counterclockwise until the sprocket cover comes off.

2. Remove the sprocket cover. Remove the saw chain and guide bar from the tool.

3. To install, fit one end of the saw chain on the top of the guide bar. The cutter should be facing in the direction of the arrow shown in the manual’s figure, as this is the direction of rotation.

4. Insert the hook of the sprocket cover into the hole in the tool and then place the sprocket cover on the tool.

5. Turn the knob clockwise to tighten the screw firmly.

A slight loosening of the screw allows the saw chain tension to be adjusted. After adjusting, tighten the screw firmly. To check the tension, pull the chain with light force away from the bottom of the guide bar and release it. If the chain lightly snaps back into place, the tension is correct. A new chain will stretch, so check the tension frequently during the first 2 hours of operation after disconnecting the battery.

The saw chain on the RONIX 8651 is automatically lubricated when the tool is in operation. You should check the amount of remaining oil in the oil tank periodically through the oil inspection window. To refill the tank, remove the cap from the oil tank opening. After refilling, always screw the provided oil tank cap back on the chain saw. Never use oil that includes dust, particles, or volatile oil.

1. Make sure your footing is firm. Keep feet apart and divide your weight evenly on both feet.

2. Hold the chain saw firmly with both hands when the motor is running.

3. Bring the lower guide into contact with the branch to be cut before switching the chainsaw on.

4. When cutting thick branches, first make a shallow undercut from the bottom and then make the finish cut from the top. This prevents the branch from pinching the saw chain or splintering.

5. For better cutting, use the lower guide of the chainsaw.

Always remove the battery cartridge from the tool and overlap the guide bar with the scabbard (chain cover) before carrying the tool. Also, cover the battery cartridge with the battery cover.

Cleaning the Saw Body:

Keep the saw body clean. Use a soft cloth dampened with a mild soap and water mixture to wipe the saw body. Do not submerge the saw in any liquids. Do not use products containing ammonia, chlorine, or abrasives, and avoid chlorinated cleaning solvents, carbon tetrachloride, kerosene, or gasoline.

Care of the Guide Bar:

Inspect the guide bar before sharpening the chain. A worn or damaged guide bar is unsafe and will damage the chain. Replace it if this occurs.

1. Remove the guide bar from the chainsaw.

2. Remove sawdust from the guide bar groove periodically using a putty knife or wire.

3. Clean oil slots after each day of use.

4. Remove burrs from the sides of the guide bar. Use a flat file to make the side edges square.

Replace the guide bar when the bar is bent or cracked, or the inside groove of the bar is badly worn.

Always remove the battery cartridge and wear safety gloves when working on the saw chain.

Sharpen the saw chain when:

• Mealy sawdust is produced when damp wood is cut.

• The chain penetrates the wood with difficulty, even with heavy pressure.

• The cutting edge is damaged.

• The saw pulls to the left or right in the wood.

How to sharpen:

• Use a special round file for saw chains with a diameter of 4mm. Normal round files are not suitable.

• The file should only engage the material on the forward stroke. Lift the file off the material on the return stroke.

• Sharpen the shortest cutter first. The length of this cutter becomes the gauge for all other cutters on the saw chain.

• Guide the file as shown in the figure in the manual. A file holder (accessory) can make this easier and has markings for the correct sharpening angle of 30.

• Remove any projecting material with a special flat file.

Before fitting a new saw chain, check the condition of the sprocket. A worn sprocket will damage a new saw chain. If the sprocket is worn, it must be replaced. The sprocket needs to be installed so that it always faces as shown in the figure in the manual. Always fit a new locking ring when replacing the sprocket.

Store the device and its accessories in a dark, dry, and frost-proof place that is inaccessible to children. The optimum storage temperature is between 5 and 30°C. Store the electrical tool in its original packaging. Cover the electrical tool to protect it from dust and moisture. Store the operating manual with the electrical tool.
