Before operating and using the RONGTA RP337S printer, please carefully read and strictly observe the following rules:

1. Please install the printer on a stable surface to avoid printer suffered from any vibration and shocks.

2. Stop using keeping the product in any case of unusual circumstances such as the presence of high temperature, high humidity and serious pollution.

3. Connect the printer’s power adapter to an appropriate grounding socket. Avoid using the same socket with large motors or other equipment that may cause voltage fluctuation of power supply.

4. Do not get the product wet. Do not insert foreign objects (e.g. metal) into the product, and once it occurs, immediately turn off the power supply.

5. Never use the printer without paper, otherwise it will seriously damage the printing rubber roller and thermal head.

6. Unplug the product from the power outlet if the printer is idle for a long time.

7. Do not disassemble or modify the product personally.

8. Use only the power adapter specified in this instruction.

9. In order to ensure the printing quality and prolong the service life of the product, it is recommended to use the recommended or equivalent thermal printing paper.

10. Do not plug/unplug the product with the product powered on.

11. When plugging and unplugging the printer power cord, please hold the arrow position of the printer power connector with your hand, not the cord of the printer power cord.

12. Please keep this manual for future use and reference.

Safety Warnings:

• Note: The tearing blade has a sharp edge, please be careful not to touch to prevent cuts.

• Warning: The print head is a hot part, during the printing process or just after printing, Do not touch the print head and surrounding parts, children must use it under adult supervision.

• Warning: Do not touch thermal printhead surfaces and connectors. Avoid electrostatic damage to the print head.

Standard Configuration:

Optional Selections for Matching:

• Serial port cable

• Waterproof cover

1. Make sure that both the printer and the PC host are turned off. Plug the matching data communication cable into the printer’s data interface, and plug the other end into the serial port/parallel port/USB/network port of the PC host.

2. If equipped with an electrically openable cashbox, insert the RJ-11 connector on the cashbox into the cashbox interface of the printer (the specifications of the cashbox must conform to the printer cashbox drive specifications).

3. Connect to the special power adapter for the printer.

Attention:

• First plug the power plug DC24V of the printer, then switch on the AC220V power supply, and then turn on the power switch. Do not reverse the sequence, otherwise the machine will be damaged.

• Using an improper power adapter will make the printing quality worse and even damage the printer.

• Do not connect the telephone line to the cashbox interface, otherwise the printer and telephone may be damaged.

• When plugging in the printer power cord, please hold the arrow position of the printer power connector with your hand. Forcibly plucking the flexible cord of the printer power connector or pulling the printer power cord may cause damage to the printer or the power adapter.

The RONGTA RP337S thermal receipt printer uses an 80 mm thermal paper roll. The installation method is as follows:

1. Open the printer cover.

2. Place the thermal paper roll into the paper loading bin.

3. Pull the printing paper out of the paper outlet and close the upper cover.

Power switch:

The power switch is used to turn the printer on and off. It is located on the left side of the printer. When the “-” of the switch is pressed, the printer is turned on; when the “O” of the switch is pressed, the printer is turned off. Note: Turn on the switch only after the power is connected.

FEED button:

This is the paper feeding button. When in standby mode, press the paper feed button to continuously feed the paper. The paper feed button is invalid during the printing process. If you press and hold this button before powering on the printer, the printer will perform a self-check after being powered on.

Power indicator light:

A constantly lit blue light indicates the power is normal. The printer remains lit after being properly connected to the power supply.

Error indicator light:

A flashing red light indicates an error, such as paper shortage, paper jam, overheated print head, print head error, or other abnormalities.

The self-test can detect whether the printer is working properly. The self-test will print out the software version number, printing density, interface form, English characters, and some Chinese characters in sequence. To perform a self-check:

1. Ensure the power cord is connected properly, paper is loaded, and the cover is closed.

2. First, press and hold the (FEED) button.

3. While holding the (FEED) button, turn on the printer power.

4. Once the printing starts, you can release the (FEED) button. The printer will then perform a self-check and print out a sample of the self-check list.

Note: Before installing the driver, ensure that the power supply is connected and the USB cable is connected to the computer.

1. Run the driver installation file (e.g., RPPosPrinterWindowsDBColorDriver). A “Select Setup Language” dialog box will appear.

2. Select your desired language and click [ OK ].

3. A “Ready to Install” dialog box will appear. Click [ Install ] to continue with the installation.

4. Wait for the installation to finish. When prompted that the “Printer installed”, click [ OK ].

5. To complete the installation, the setup wizard will ask to restart your computer. Select “Yes, restart the computer now” and click [ Finish ].

At this point, the printer driver installation is complete.

In port direct drive mode, there is no need to use a driver. You only need to output characters directly to the port, and the printer’s internal hard character library will achieve character conversion printing. Using this mode changes the printing from page printing mode to line printing mode, which makes printing control more convenient. If you use the port direct drive mode, you need to use the command set to control the printing of the printer.

1. Set Printer Properties

After installing the printer driver, go to “Start” -> “Control Panel” -> “Printer and Fax” -> “Printer Properties” -> “80mm Series DBColor”. The “Printer Properties” window will pop up.

2. Print a Test Page (General)

In the “General” tab of the Printer Properties window, click “Print Test Page”. If the test page prints normally, the printer is correctly connected and configured.

3. Configure and Test a Serial Port

• In the Printer Properties window, select the “Ports” tab.

• Select a COM port from the list (e.g., COM1, COM2).

• Click “Apply”.

• Go back to the “General” tab and click “Print Test Page”.

4. Configure and Test a Network Port

• In the “Ports” tab, click [ Add Port… ].

• Select “Standard TCP/IP Port” and click [ New Port… ].

• The “Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard” will open. Click [ Next ].

• Enter the printer’s IP address (e.g., “192.168.1.87”) in the “Printer Name or IP address” field and click [ Next ].

• If the device cannot be identified automatically, select “Generic Network Card” for the device type and click [ Next ].

• Click [ Finish ] to add the port.

• Back in the “Ports” tab, ensure the newly created TCP/IP port is checked and click [ Apply ].

• Go to the “General” tab and click [ Print Test Page ].

5. Configure General Settings

• In the “General” tab of Printer Properties, click [ Preferences… ].

• Page Settings: In the “Page Settings” tab, set the paper size according to the paper you are using.

• Print Settings: In the “Print Set” tab, you can configure settings like paper cutting, NV Logo printing, beeps, and print density.

• Device Settings: In the “Device Set” tab, you can set the cash drawer to open before or after printing and configure voice functions (for supported models).

1. Open the Control Panel and go to Programs -> “Uninstall a program”.

2. Find “RP PosPrinter DBColor Driver” in the list of installed programs, select it, and right-click “Uninstall”.

3. A confirmation dialog will ask if you are sure you want to completely remove the driver. Click “Yes”.

4. Wait for the uninstallation process to complete. A message will state “Printer uninstalled success, please reboot the system!”. Click “OK”.

5. Another message will confirm “RP PosPrinter DBColor Driver was successfully removed from your computer.” Click “OK”.

6. Reboot your computer to complete the uninstallation.

Before using the setup tool, ensure the printer is connected to power, has paper, and is turned on.

There are 3 ways to connect to the printer using the RongtaPrinterTool:

1. USB Connection: If the printer is connected via USB, select the “USB” radio button. The option will be selectable. You can then proceed to [Set Printer] or [Download].

2. Port Connection (Serial/Network):

• Select the “Port” radio button.

• For a serial connection, select the correct COM port from the dropdown list. Click “Config Port” to set parameters like Bits per second, Data bits, etc., to match the printer’s settings.

• For a network connection, select “Ethernet” from the dropdown. Click “Config Port”, enter the printer’s IP address and Port (e.g., 9100), and click “OK”.

• Once configured, you can use [Set Printer] or [Download].

3. Printer Driver Connection:

• Select the “Printer Driver” radio button.

• Choose the installed “80mm Series DBColor” driver from the dropdown list. This method uses the port configured in the driver’s properties.

• You can then proceed to [Set Printer] or [Download].

After connecting to the printer in the setup tool, click the [Download] button to open the Download window.

To Update Firmware (Program):

1. In the “Program” tab, click “Select a program file”.

2. Browse to and select the corresponding firmware file.

3. Click “Update” to update the program.

To Add a LOGO (Picture):

1. Go to the “Logo” tab.

2. Click “Add”, select the corresponding image path, and add the LOGO to the printer.

Note: The tool only supports pictures in bmp format (black and white bitmaps or 32-bit full-color bitmaps). The picture size must be less than 64k. The width for 80mm paper must be less than 576 pixels, and for 58mm paper, less than 384 pixels.

In the setup tool, after connecting to the printer, click [Set Printer]. In the “Set Printer” window, select the “Base” tab. Here you can configure the following:

• Code Page: Set the printer’s language (e.g., CHINESE).

• Baud Rate: Set the communication speed for the serial port.

• Character: Choose the font (e.g., Font-A).

• Density: Adjust the print darkness.

• Char Per Line: Set the number of characters per line.

• Parity: Set the parity for serial communication.

• Buzzer, Drawer, Cutter: Check these boxes to enable the internal buzzer, cash drawer opening, and automatic cutter.

• Buzzer After Print: Enable a beep after printing is complete.

• Auto Reprint The Last Receipt: Enable reprinting of the last receipt.

After making changes, click “Set” to save them to the printer. You can click “Self Test” to print a page and verify the changes.

Note: If you use a serial port for printing and change the baud rate, you must return to the main screen of the tool to reconfigure the baud rate of the serial port before using the tool again.

In the “Set Printer” window of the setup tool, go to the “Ethernet” tab. Here you can configure the network settings:

• IP/DHCP: Choose whether to set a static IP address or use DHCP to obtain an address automatically.

• IP: If using a static IP, enter the IP address, Port, Subnet Mask, and Gateway for the printer.

• DHCP: Enable or disable the DHCP function.

• MAC: Set the MAC address if needed.

• Duplex Mode: Set the network transmission rate.

Click “Set” next to each item to save the configuration. After changing the IP address, the printer will disconnect from the tool. You will need to reconfigure the tool with the new IP address to connect again.

1. Open the “RongtaPrinterTool” and ensure the printer is connected.

2. Click [Set Printer] and go to the “Wifi” tab.

3. Input the SSID (WiFi name) of the network you want to connect to and select the corresponding mode (usually STA).

4. Select the WiFi encryption type (e.g., WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK) and enter the WiFi password in the “PSK Key” field.

5. Click “Set”. The printer will print the set WiFi parameters.

6. Print a self-test page and compare the printed WiFi parameters with those of your router. If they match, the printer should connect to the WiFi network within 1 minute. If not, reset and repeat the steps.

Note: The factory default IP address of the printer is 192.168.1.87. If this is not on the same network segment as your router, you must first set the printer’s IP address (in the Ethernet tab) to be on the same segment.

1. First, print a self-test page from the printer to find the current Bluetooth pairing name and password.

2. To change these, connect the printer to the setup tool, click [Set Printer], and go to the “Bluetooth setting” tab.

3. Enter a new “Device Name” and “Pin” (password).

4. Click “Set”. Restart the printer for the settings to take effect.

5. On your main device (e.g., computer, smartphone), power on and search for external Bluetooth devices.

6. Find the new device name you just set and enter the corresponding password (pin) to complete the pairing. The printer must be on during pairing.

Note: When pairing, do not turn on multiple printers at the same time; otherwise, you may not be able to judge which printer was successfully paired.

In the “Set Printer” window, go to the “BlackMark” tab.

1. Click “Enable” to turn on the black mark function. The printer will beep once if successful.

2. After enabling, turn the printer off and then on again before setting other parameters.

3. Black Mark Length: Enter the length of the black-marked paper (the distance between two black marks). The setting value should be greater than the actual length. Click “Set”.

4. Print After Black Mark: Enter the print start position in mm after the black mark. Click “Set”.

5. Black Mark Width: The set width should be greater than the actual width of the black mark. Click “Set”.

6. Cut After Black Mark: Enter the paper-cutting position in mm after the black mark. Click “Set”.

Clean the Print Head When:

• The print is not clear.

• A vertical column of the printed page is not clear.

• The paper feed noise is large.

How to Clean the Print Head:

1. Turn off the printer, open the front cover, and remove the paper.

2. If you just finished printing, wait for the print head to cool completely.

3. Wipe the dust and stains on the surface of the print head with a soft cotton cloth dipped in alcohol.

4. Wait for the alcohol to completely volatilize, close the front cover, and re-test the machine.

Clean the Paper Sensor When:

• During printing, the printer occasionally stops and alarms for lack of paper.

• There is no alarm when the printer is out of paper.

How to Clean the Paper Sensor:

1. Turn off the printer, open the front cover, and remove the paper.

2. Wipe the dust and stains on the sensor surface with a soft cotton cloth dipped in alcohol.

3. Wait for the alcohol to completely volatilize, close the front cover, and re-test the machine.

Clean the Printing Roller When:

• The print is not clear.

• A vertical column of the printed page is not clear.

• The paper feed noise is large.

How to Clean the Printing Roller:

1. Turn off the power of the printer and open the front cover.

2. Wipe the dust and stains on the surface of the printing roller with a soft cotton cloth dipped in alcohol.

3. After the alcohol is completely volatilized, close the top cover.

1. The power supply must be turned off during daily maintenance of the printer.

2. Do not touch the surface of the print head with hands and metal objects, and do not use tools such as tweezers to scratch print heads, print rollers, and sensor surfaces.

3. Do not use gasoline, acetone, and other organic solvents.

4. Wait until the alcohol is completely volatilized, and then turn on the power to continue printing.

Check that the power cord is properly plugged into the printer, power adapter, and power outlet. Check that the power switch of the printer is on.

Run a self-test to check that the printer is working properly. If you can’t self-check, please check with the dealer or contact technical service personnel.

If the self-test works properly, check the following:

1. Check the interface at both ends of the connection between the printer and the computer. At the same time, verify that the connection meets the specifications of both the printer and the computer.

2. Data transfer settings between the printer and the computer may differ. You can use a self-test to print out the interface settings of the printer. If the printer still does not print, contact your dealer or technical support.

When the printer has a knife jam, the upper cover of the printer cannot be opened. Power off the printer and restart it. If the jammed knife does not return to its position, you need to turn off the power of the printer, open the front cover of the printer, and turn the gear in the opposite direction to release the jammed knife.

a. Bluetooth Pairing and Printing (only valid for printers with Bluetooth)

Before working, the Bluetooth printer needs to be paired with the master device that drives the printer, and the pairing process is initiated by the master device.

The usual pairing method is as follows:

1. Turn on the printer.

2. The master device searches for external Bluetooth devices.

3. If there are multiple external Bluetooth devices, select the printer corresponding to the BDA address (see the self-test page).

4. Enter the initial password “0000” or “1234”.

5. Complete the pairing.

Please refer to the main device Bluetooth function description for specific pairing methods. When pairing, the thermal receipt printer with Bluetooth interface must be turned on.

Note: When pairing, do not turn on multiple printers at the same time, otherwise you may not be able to determine which printer is successfully paired.

After successful pairing, other master devices can still be paired with the printer. Each printer can be paired with a maximum of 8 machines. If more master devices are paired with the printer, then the first master device with the printer will be automatically cleared from the pairing list. At this time if the master device needs to drive the printer to print, it needs to be paired again. (Only for multi-connected Bluetooth)

b. Print using Bluetooth interface (only valid for printers with Bluetooth)

For the main device with a virtual Bluetooth serial port (such as a SMARTPHONE, POCKET PC, PALM, notebook, computer, etc.), after pairing successfully, you can send print data to the printer through the virtual Bluetooth serial port for printing. If the master device does not have a virtual Bluetooth serial port, to drive the printer to print, please consult the master device supplier.
