What tools and materials are needed for installation?

You will need the following tools and materials:

Sealant: 3M 4000 or equivalent

Mounting Hardware: Nut and Bolt (Appropriate size and quantity, typically 6 sets for base mounting)

Drill Bit: 3/8″ (9.5mm)

Marker

Hole Saw: 2″ (50.8mm)

Power Drill

How do I prepare the mount for installation?

Step 1: Attach the square base plate and the round rubber gasket to the bottom of the mount’s foot.

Step 2: Route any necessary cables through the center opening of the mount base and up through the mast.

How do I attach my equipment (e.g., radar dome) to the mount?

Step 3: Position your equipment (like a radar dome) onto the top mounting plate of the Seaview mount.

Step 4: Secure the equipment to the top plate using appropriate fasteners (refer to your equipment’s manual and the included hardware, if applicable). Ensure cables from the equipment are routed correctly through the mount.

How do I prepare the boat surface for mounting?

Step 5: Place the assembled mount (with the base plate and gasket attached) onto the desired mounting location on the boat surface. Use a marker to mark the position of the six mounting holes through the base plate onto the surface.

Step 6: Remove the mount from the surface.

Step 7: Drill pilot holes at the six marked locations using an appropriately sized drill bit (e.g., 3/8″ or 9.5mm, depending on your chosen mounting hardware).

Step 8: Mark the center point for the cable passage hole, aligned with the center hole of the mount base.

Step 9: Drill the center hole for cable passage using a 2″ (50.8mm) hole saw.

How do I secure the mount to the boat surface?

Step 10: Apply a generous bead of marine sealant (e.g., 3M 4000 or equivalent) around the underside of the mount’s base plate, focusing on the perimeter, the mounting holes, and the center cable passage hole.

Step 11: Carefully position the mount onto the prepared surface, ensuring the cables pass through the center hole and the mounting holes align with the drilled pilot holes.

Step 12: Secure the mount to the surface using six sets of appropriate mounting hardware (bolts, spacers/washers, and nuts). Insert bolts from the top, through the mount base and spacers, into the drilled holes. Secure from underneath with nuts and washers as needed. Tighten securely.
