Where should I position the PERFECT AIRE PAD70 for optimal performance?

• A dehumidifier in one room will have little or no effect in an adjacent enclosed area, like a closet, unless there is adequate air circulation.

• This dehumidifier is for indoor residential applications only. Do not use outdoors.

• Place the dehumidifier on a smooth, level floor strong enough to support the unit with a full bucket of water.

• Allow at least 8in (20cm) of air space on all sides and 16in (40cm) above the unit for good air circulation.

• Place the unit in an area where the temperature will not fall below 41°F (5°C), as frost can reduce performance.

• Place the unit away from clothes dryers, heaters, or radiators.

• Use the unit to prevent moisture damage where books or valuables are stored.

• To be most effective, the dehumidifier must be operated in an enclosed area. Close all doors, windows, and other outside openings to the space.

What are the initial operating instructions for the PERFECT AIRE PAD70?

• When first using the dehumidifier, operate the unit continuously for 24 hours.

• NOTE: After the first 24 hours, if you wish to set a desired humidity, you must take the unit off of “Continuous” mode.

• This unit is designed to operate in a working environment between 41°F/5°C and 95°F/35°C.

• If the unit is switched off and needs to be switched on again quickly, allow approximately three minutes for it to resume correct operation.

• Do not connect the dehumidifier to a multiple socket outlet that is being used for other electrical appliances.

• Select a suitable location with easy access to an electrical outlet.

• Plug the unit into an electrical outlet with a grounding connection.

• Make sure the water bucket is correctly fitted, or the unit will not operate properly.

How do I remove collected water using the bucket on my PERFECT AIRE PAD70?

When the bucket is full, the unit will beep 8 times, the full indicator light will flash, and the display will show P2. The compressor and fan will turn off.

1. Slowly pull out the bucket. Grip the left and right handles securely and carefully pull it straight out so water does not spill. Do not place the tank on the floor as the bottom is uneven.

2. Pour the water out.

3. Replace the bucket. The bucket must be securely in place for the dehumidifier to operate.

4. The machine will re-start when the bucket is restored in its correct position. The unit will take 3 minutes to restart.

NOTES:

• When you remove the bucket, do not touch any parts inside of the unit.

• Be sure to push the bucket gently all the way into the unit. Improper installation may cause the unit not to operate.

• When you remove the bucket, be sure to wipe away any excess moisture found inside the unit.

How do I set up continuous draining on my PERFECT AIRE PAD70?

Water can be automatically emptied into a floor drain by attaching a water hose with a female threaded end (not included).

1. Install the drain hose onto the adaptor A (found in the bucket).

2. Remove the plastic cover from the back drain outlet of the unit. Remove the bucket.

3. Insert the drain hose through the drain outlet of the unit and securely press it into the connector on the front of the unit.

4. Tighten the adaptor A to the unit using the two provided screws.

5. Install the female threaded end of your water hose onto the adaptor A. Lead the water hose to the floor drain or a suitable drainage facility.

6. Make sure the hose is secure to avoid leakage.

7. Direct the hose down toward the drain, ensuring there are no kinks. The end of the hose must be level or angled down to let water flow smoothly. Never let the drain hose go upward against gravity.

8. Place the bucket back in the unit and make sure it is correctly placed.

9. Select the desired humidity setting and fan speed on the unit for continuous draining to start.

NOTE: When the continuous drain feature is not being used, remove the drain hose from the outlet and insert the drain plug. Failure to re-insert the drain plug will result in unit malfunction and possible error codes.

How do I clean my PERFECT AIRE PAD70?

Turn the dehumidifier off and remove the plug from the wall outlet before cleaning.

1. Clean the Grill and Case

• Use a cloth dampened with water and a mild detergent. Do not use bleach or abrasives.

• Do not splash water directly onto the main unit.

• The air intake and outlet grills get soiled easily, so use a vacuum attachment or brush to clean.

2. Clean the bucket

• Every few weeks, clean the bucket to prevent the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria.

• Remove the bucket and clean it in an area away from the dehumidifier.

• Partially fill the bucket with clean water and a small amount of mild detergent. Swish it around, then empty and rinse.

• NOTE: Do not use a dishwasher to clean the bucket. After cleaning, the bucket must be securely in place for the dehumidifier to operate.

3. Clean the air filter

• Remove and clean the filter when the filter light illuminates. For more frequent use, clean the filter more often.

• Remove the filter from the top of the unit.

• Wash the filter with clean water, then dry thoroughly before re-inserting it.

• CAUTION: DO NOT operate the dehumidifier without a filter because dirt and lint will clog the unit and reduce performance.

How should I prepare my PERFECT AIRE PAD70 for long-term storage?

1. After turning off the unit, wait one day before emptying the bucket.

2. Clean the main unit, water bucket, and air filter and let them dry completely.

3. Wrap the cord and bundle it with the band on the unit.

4. Cover the unit with a plastic bag.

5. Store the unit upright in a dry, well-ventilated place.

Why won’t my PERFECT AIRE PAD70 start?

Here are possible solutions:

• Make sure the dehumidifier plug is pushed completely into the outlet.

• Check the fuse/circuit breaker box.

• The dehumidifier has reached its preset level or the bucket is full.

• The water bucket is not in the proper position.

• The room is not humid enough compared to the setting on the dehumidifier.

Why does my PERFECT AIRE PAD70 display defrost repeatedly without drawing water?

Here are possible solutions:

• Turn off the unit and unplug it for 4-6 hours.

• Plug the unit back in. Select Normal Mode and set the humidity level to no more than 5% lower than the current room humidity displayed.

• Allow time for the unit to run until it successfully reaches the initial humidity setting.

• Lower the humidity another 5% and repeat until the desired humidity is reached (average setting should be 45-50%).

• Be sure the unit humidity is not set too low, is sitting on too cold a floor, or is being used in too cold a room (not below 41 degrees).

• Be sure there is sufficient air circulation between the unit and the floor.

Why is my PERFECT AIRE PAD70 displaying a P2 or ‘Bucket Full’ error?

Here are possible solutions:

• Verify the rubber drain plug is not removed from the back of the unit if you are using the bucket to collect water.

• Check the float switch (inch-length silver tab in the top of the unit behind the bucket) to ensure it is not cracked, bent, broken, dirty, or obstructed. If bent, re-adjust by re-bending it back into place.

• Check that the unit is level and that the filter, vents, and bucket are thoroughly clean.

• Unplug the unit for at least 5 minutes.

• Plug the unit back in. Remove and return the bucket securely back into the unit and turn it on.

Why is my PERFECT AIRE PAD70 not drawing water?

Here are possible solutions:

• Be sure the unit is not too large or too small for the area of the room.

• When first installed, run the unit on Continuous Mode for 24 hours.

• Allow enough time for the unit to remove moisture.

• Set the humidity low enough to ensure moisture removal (it is not recommended to set below 45%).

• The setting may be the same as the actual humidity in the room, thus no moisture is removed.

• Be sure all doors, windows, and other openings are securely closed.

• Be sure the unit is level and that there is sufficient air circulation around the unit, as well as between the unit and the floor.

• Make sure the unit is level and that there are no curtains, blinds, or furniture blocking the unit.

• Check that the room temperature is not below 41°F.

• If the unit is near a heat source, such as a clothes dryer, etc., then relocate it.

Why does my PERFECT AIRE PAD70 constantly cycle on and off?

Here are possible solutions:

• Be sure the unit is not too large or too small for the area of the room. Using the unit in a space much smaller than its stated coverage will likely cause it to go on and off more frequently. Using too small a unit will cause it to run constantly.

• If the humidity setting and the actual humidity in the room are cycling right around the same, the unit will go off and on accordingly.

• The fan should go off shortly after the compressor turns off.

• Check that the unit is level and the filter, vents, and bucket are thoroughly clean and nothing is obstructing them.

• Be sure all doors, windows, and other openings are securely closed.

• Ensure there is sufficient air circulation around the unit, as well as between the unit and the floor.

• Unplug the unit for at least 5 minutes. Plug it back in, remove and return the bucket to the dehumidifier, and turn it on.

Why is there water on the floor around my PERFECT AIRE PAD70?

Here are possible solutions:

• The hose to the connector or the hose connection may be loose.

• If using the bucket to collect water, check the drain plug.

• The foam piece has been removed from the float in the bucket, causing the bucket to overflow. Call for assistance.

What should I do if ES, AS, P2, or EC appears in the display of my PERFECT AIRE PAD70?

These are error codes and a protection code. Please refer to the “Control Pad On The Dehumidifier” section of the manual for detailed explanations of each code and the steps to resolve them.

Why is my PERFECT AIRE PAD70 always running?

Here are possible solutions:

• Be sure the unit is not too large or too small for the area of the room.

• Allow enough time for the unit to remove moisture.

• If set on Continuous Mode, de-select the button and set it to Normal Mode with an appropriate humidity setting.

• If the humidity in the room is above the set humidity, then the unit will be running.

• Be sure all doors, windows, and other openings are securely closed.

• Be sure the unit is level and that there is sufficient air circulation around the unit, as well as between the unit and the floor.

• Make sure there are no curtains, blinds, or furniture blocking the unit.

• Lower the room temperature.

• If the unit is near a source of moisture, such as a sink, shower, washing machine, etc., then relocate it.

• Check that the filter, vents, and bucket are thoroughly clean.

Why is the direct drain on my PERFECT AIRE PAD70 not working properly?

Here are possible solutions:

• Be sure the hose is CLEAN, pliable, and no longer than 6 feet in length (recommended). Clear tubing with sizing of 5/8 of an inch for the outer diameter and 1/2 in for the inner diameter is recommended.

• The hose should be secure on both ends, being especially mindful that it is pushed all the way onto the Connector piece inside the unit.

• The hose should exit through the back of the unit and always be positioned at a DOWNWARD slope to the desired drain location.

• If using a garden hose attached to the Adaptor piece, be sure the connection is secure throughout.

• Be sure nothing is obstructing the hose connection and there are no kinks or tears in any of the hosing.

• Ensure the unit is level and not tilted forward and that the bucket is pushed in all the way.

• Check that the filter, vents, and bucket are thoroughly clean.

• If water is going into the bucket instead of the hose, then the unit is working properly and you need to double-check all of the above and/or un-hook the hosing set-up and start again.

Why is my PERFECT AIRE PAD70 making a loud noise during operation?

Here are possible solutions:

• The air filter is clogged.

• The unit is tilted instead of upright as it should be.

• The floor surface is not level.
