How should I position my PERFECT AIRE PAD50 for the best performance?

For the best performance from your PERFECT AIRE PAD50, follow these positioning guidelines:

• Use the dehumidifier indoors for residential applications only.

• Place it on a smooth, level floor that is strong enough to support the unit with a full bucket of water.

• Allow at least 8 inches (20 cm) of air space on all sides of the unit for good air circulation. The top should have at least 16 inches (40 cm) of clear space.

• Place the unit in an area where the temperature will not fall below 41°F (5°C) to avoid frost buildup on the coils.

• Position the unit away from clothes dryers, heaters, or radiators.

• The dehumidifier must be operated in an enclosed area to be most effective. Close all doors, windows, and other outside openings to the space you wish to dehumidify.

• The casters on the bottom of the unit allow it to move freely. Do not force casters over carpet or move the unit when there is water in the bucket, as it may tip over and spill.

What should I know when using my PERFECT AIRE PAD50 for the first time?

• When first using the dehumidifier, operate the unit continuously for 24 hours in “Continuous” mode.

• After the first 24 hours, if you wish to set a specific humidity level, you must turn off the “Continuous” mode.

• The unit is designed to operate in an environment between 41°F (5°C) and 95°F (35°C).

• If the unit is switched off and needs to be turned on again quickly, allow about three minutes for it to resume correct operation.

• Do not connect the dehumidifier to a multiple socket outlet that is also being used for other appliances.

• Ensure the water bucket is correctly fitted; otherwise, the unit will not operate properly.

How do I remove collected water using the bucket on my PERFECT AIRE PAD50?

When the bucket is full, the unit will beep 8 times, the full indicator light will flash, and the display will show “P2”.

1. Slowly pull the bucket out. Grip the left and right handles securely and pull it straight out to avoid spilling water.

2. Do not place the bucket on the floor, as the bottom is uneven and it may tip over.

3. Pour the water out.

4. Replace the bucket securely in the dehumidifier. The machine will restart in about 3 minutes once the bucket is correctly in place.

NOTES:

• When removing the bucket, do not touch any parts inside the unit.

• Be sure to push the bucket gently all the way into the unit. Improper installation may cause the unit to not operate.

• When you remove the bucket, wipe away any excess moisture from inside the unit.

How do I set up the continuous draining feature on my PERFECT AIRE PAD50?

You can automatically empty water into a floor drain by attaching a water hose with a female threaded end (not included).

1. Install the drain hose onto the adaptor A (found in the bucket).

2. Remove the plastic cover from the back drain outlet of the unit and set it aside. Remove the bucket.

3. Insert the drain hose through the drain outlet on the back of the unit and securely press it into the connector on the front of the unit.

4. Tighten the adaptor A to the unit using the two provided screws.

5. Install the female threaded end of your water hose onto the adaptor A. Lead the other end of the hose to a floor drain or suitable drainage facility.

6. Ensure the hose is secure to prevent leaks and is directed downward without any kinks to allow water to flow smoothly. Never let the drain hose go upward against gravity.

7. Place the bucket back in the unit, ensuring it is correctly placed.

8. Select your desired humidity setting and fan speed to begin continuous draining.

NOTE: When the continuous drain feature is not being used, remove the drain hose from the outlet and re-insert the drain plug. Failure to do so will result in unit malfunction and possible error codes.

How do I clean and maintain my PERFECT AIRE PAD50?

Always turn the dehumidifier off and unplug it before cleaning.

1. Clean the Grill and Case:

• Use a cloth dampened with water and a mild detergent. Do not use bleach or abrasives.

• Do not splash water directly onto the main unit.

• The air intake and outlet grills can be cleaned with a vacuum attachment or a brush.

2. Clean the Bucket:

• Every few weeks, clean the bucket to prevent the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria.

• Partially fill the bucket with clean water and a small amount of mild detergent. Swish it around, then empty and rinse.

• Do not use a dishwasher to clean the bucket. The bucket must be securely in place for the unit to operate.

3. Clean the Air Filter:

• The ‘Clean Filter’ light will illuminate as a reminder. For more frequent use, clean the filter more often.

• Remove the filter from the top of the unit.

• Wash the filter with clean water, then dry it thoroughly before re-inserting.

CAUTION: Do not operate the dehumidifier without a filter, as dirt and lint will clog the unit and reduce performance.

How should I store my PERFECT AIRE PAD50 during prolonged periods of non-use?

1. After turning off the unit, wait one day before emptying the bucket.

2. Clean the main unit, water bucket, and air filter, and let them dry completely.

3. Wrap the power cord and bundle it with the band on the unit.

4. Cover the unit with a plastic bag.

5. Store the unit upright in a dry, well-ventilated place.

• Be sure there is sufficient air circulation between the unit and the floor.

What should I do if my PERFECT AIRE PAD50 displays P2 or ‘BUCKET FULL’?

Issue Possible Solutions
DEHUMIDIFIER P2 OR ‘BUCKET FULL’ DISPLAYS

• If using the bucket, verify the rubber drain plug is not removed from the back of the unit.

• Check the float switch (inch-length silver tab in the top of the unit behind the bucket) to ensure it is not cracked, bent, broken, dirty, or obstructed. If bent, gently re-bend it back into place.

• Check that the unit is level and that the filter, vents, and bucket are thoroughly clean.

• Unplug the unit for at least 5 minutes.

• Plug the unit back in. Remove and return the bucket securely back into the unit and turn it on.

DEHUMIDIFIER NOT DRAWING WATER

• Be sure the unit is not too large or too small for the area of the room.

• When first installed, run the unit on Continuous Mode for 24 hours.

• Allow enough time for the unit to remove moisture.

• Set the humidity low enough to ensure moisture removal (not recommended to set below 45%).

• The setting may be the same as the actual humidity in the room, thus no moisture needs to be removed.

• Be sure all doors, windows, and other openings are securely closed.

• Ensure the unit is level and there is sufficient air circulation around the unit, as well as between the unit and floor.

• Make sure there are no curtains, blinds, or furniture blocking the unit.

• Check that the room temperature is not below 41° F.

• If the unit is near a heat source, such as a clothes dryer, relocate it.

Why does my PERFECT AIRE PAD50 constantly cycle on and off?

Issue Possible Solutions
DEHUMIDIFIER CONSTANTLY CYCLES ON/OFF

• Ensure the unit is not too large or too small for the room. Using a unit in a space much smaller than its stated coverage will cause it to cycle more frequently.

• If the humidity setting and the actual room humidity are very close, the unit will cycle on and off accordingly.

• The fan should go off shortly after the compressor turns off.

• Check that the unit is level, the filter, vents, and bucket are clean, and nothing is obstructing them.

• Be sure all doors, windows, and other openings are securely closed.

• Ensure there is sufficient air circulation around the unit.

• Unplug the unit for at least 5 minutes. Plug it back in, remove and return the bucket, and turn it on.

Why is there water on the floor around my PERFECT AIRE PAD50?

Issue Possible Solutions
WATER ON FLOOR AROUND UNIT

• The hose to the connector or the hose connection itself may be loose.

• If you are using the bucket to collect water, check the drain plug to ensure it is properly inserted.

• The foam piece may have been removed from the float in the bucket, causing it to overflow. Call for assistance.

Why is my PERFECT AIRE PAD50 always running?

Issue Possible Solutions
DEHUMIDIFIER ALWAYS RUNNING

• Be sure the unit is not too large or too small for the area of the room.

• Allow enough time for the unit to remove moisture initially.

• If set on Continuous Mode, the unit will run constantly. De-select this button and set to Normal Mode with an appropriate humidity setting.

• If the humidity in the room is higher than the set humidity, the unit will run.

• Be sure all doors, windows, and other openings are securely closed.

• Be sure the unit is level and that there is sufficient air circulation.

• Make sure there are no curtains, blinds, or furniture blocking the unit.

• Lower the room temperature if possible.

• If the unit is near a source of moisture (sink, shower, washing machine, etc.), relocate it.

• Check that the filter, vents, and bucket are thoroughly clean.

Why isn’t the direct drain on my PERFECT AIRE PAD50 working properly?

Issue Possible Solutions
DEHUMIDIFIER DIRECT DRAIN NOT WORKING PROPERLY

• Be sure the hose is clean, pliable, and no longer than 6 feet in length (recommended).

• The hose should be secure on both ends, especially pushed all the way onto the connector piece inside the unit.

• The hose should exit through the back of the unit and always be positioned on a DOWNWARD slope to the drain location.

• If using a garden hose attached to the Adaptor piece, be sure the connection is secure throughout.

• Be sure nothing is obstructing the hose connection and that there are no kinks or tears in the hosing.

• Ensure the unit is level (not tilted forward) and that the bucket is pushed in all the way.

• Check that the filter, vents, and bucket are thoroughly clean.

• If water is going into the bucket instead of the hose, the unit is working correctly. Double-check all of the above steps and/or un-hook the hosing setup and start again.
