• Do not insert or pull out the plug with wet hands, as this may cause electric shock.

• Do not place the unit near a heat source. Plastic parts may melt and cause a fire.

• Disconnect the power if strange sounds, smells, or smoke comes from it to avoid fire and electric shock.

• You should never try to take apart or repair the unit by yourself, as it may cause machine failure or electric shock.

• Before cleaning, turn off the power and unplug the unit to prevent electrical shock or injury.

• Do not use the unit near flammable gas or combustibles such as gasoline, benzene, thinner, etc., to avoid an explosion or fire.

• Do not drink or use the water drained from the unit. It contains contaminants and could make you sick.

• Do not take the water bucket out during operation, as it may cause a malfunction of the unit’s “bucket full” feature and lead to electrical shock.

What are the key safety cautions for using the PERFECT AIRE PAD40?

For safe operation of your PERFECT AIRE PAD40, please observe the following cautions:

• Do not use the unit in small spaces. Lack of ventilation can cause overheating and fire.

• Do not place the unit in areas where water may splash onto it. Water entering the unit can degrade insulation and cause electric shock or fire.

• Place the unit on a level, sturdy section of the floor. If the unit falls over, it may spill water and damage belongings, or cause electrical shock or fire.

Where should I place my PERFECT AIRE PAD40 for best performance?

• This dehumidifier is intended for indoor residential applications only. Do not use outdoors.

• Place the dehumidifier on a smooth, level floor, strong enough to support the unit with a full bucket of water.

• Allow at least 8in (20cm) of air space on all sides of the unit for good air circulation. A clearance of 16in (40cm) or more is needed above the air outlet grill.

• Place the unit in an area where the temperature will not fall below 41°F (5°C), as the coils can become covered with frost at lower temperatures, reducing performance.

• Place the unit away from clothes dryers, heaters, or radiators.

• Use the unit to prevent moisture damage where books or valuables are stored.

• Use the dehumidifier in a basement to help prevent moisture damage.

• The dehumidifier must be operated in an enclosed area to be most effective. Close all doors, windows, and other outside openings to the space you wish to dehumidify.

What are the guidelines for using my PERFECT AIRE PAD40 for the first time?

• When first using the dehumidifier, operate the unit continuously for 24 hours.

• After the first 24 hours, if you wish to set a desired humidity, you must take the unit out of “Continuous” mode. You cannot select a desired humidity while the unit is in “Continuous” mode.

• The unit is designed to operate between 41°F/5°C and 95°F/35°C.

• If the unit is switched off and needs to be switched on again quickly, allow approximately three minutes for the operation to resume correctly.

• Do not connect the dehumidifier to a multiple socket outlet that is also being used for other electrical appliances.

• Select a suitable location with easy access to an electrical outlet.

• Plug the unit into an electrical outlet with a grounding connection.

• Ensure the water bucket is correctly fitted, or the unit will not operate properly.

Note: Do not attempt to move the dehumidifier when there is water in the bucket. The unit may tip over and spill water or be damaged.

How do I remove collected water from the PERFECT AIRE PAD40?

There are two ways to remove collected water: using the bucket or continuous draining.

1. Use the bucket:

• When the bucket is full, the unit will beep 8 times, the full indicator light will flash, and the display will show “P2”.

• If the unit is ON, the compressor and fan will turn off after 30 seconds.

• Slowly pull out the bucket. Grip the left and right handles securely and carefully pull straight out to avoid spills.

• Throw away the water and replace the bucket. The bucket must be securely in place for the dehumidifier to operate.

• The machine will restart in its correct position after about 3 minutes.

NOTES: When removing the bucket, do not touch any parts inside the unit. Be sure to push the bucket gently all the way into the unit. Wipe away any excess moisture inside the unit after removing the bucket.

2. Continuous draining:

Water can be automatically emptied into a floor drain by attaching a water hose with a female threaded end (not included).

1. Install the drain hose onto the adaptor A (found in the bucket).

2. Remove the plastic cover from the back drain outlet of the unit and set it aside. Remove the bucket.

3. Insert the drain hose through the drain outlet of the unit and securely press it into the connector on the front of the unit.

4. Tighten the adaptor A to the unit using the two provided screws.

5. Install the female threaded end of the water hose into the adaptor A, then lead the hose to the floor drain or a suitable drainage facility.

6. Make sure the hose is secure to avoid leakage.

7. Direct the hose down toward the drain, ensuring there are no kinks. The end of the hose must be level or pointing down to let water flow smoothly. Never let the drain hose go upward.

8. Place the bucket back in the unit and make sure it is correctly placed.

9. Select the desired humidity setting and fan speed to start.

Alternatively, you may use tubing (5/8” O.D. 1/2″ I.D.) to drain directly to the floor without the hose adaptor assembly.

NOTE: When not using the continuous drain feature, remove the drain hose and re-insert the drain plug to prevent malfunction.

How do I clean and maintain my PERFECT AIRE PAD40?

Turn the dehumidifier off and remove the plug from the wall outlet before cleaning.

1. Clean the Grill and Case

• Use a cloth dampened with water and a mild detergent. Do not use bleach or abrasives.

• Do not splash water directly onto the main unit to avoid electrical shock or rust.

• The air intake and outlet grills can be cleaned with a vacuum attachment or brush.

2. Clean the bucket

• Every few weeks, clean the bucket to prevent the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria.

• Partially fill the bucket with clean water and a small amount of mild detergent. Swish it around, then empty and rinse.

• NOTE: Do not use a dishwasher to clean the bucket. The bucket must be securely in place for the dehumidifier to operate.

3. Clean the air filter

• Remove and clean the filter when the filter light illuminates, or more often with frequent use.

• Remove the filter from the top of the unit.

• Wash the filter with clean water, then dry thoroughly before re-inserting it.

• CAUTION: DO NOT operate the dehumidifier without a filter, as dirt and lint will clog the unit and reduce performance.

How should I store my PERFECT AIRE PAD40 for long periods of non-use?

1. After turning off the unit, wait one day before emptying the bucket.

2. Clean the main unit, water bucket, and air filter, and let them dry completely.

3. Wrap the cord and bundle it with the band on the unit.

4. Cover the unit with a plastic bag.

5. Store the unit upright in a dry, well-ventilated place.

Why won’t my PERFECT AIRE PAD40 start?

If your PERFECT AIRE PAD40 does not start, check the following possible solutions:

• Make sure the dehumidifier plug is pushed completely into the outlet.

• Check the fuse/circuit breaker box.

• The dehumidifier may have reached its preset humidity level, or the bucket is full.

• The water bucket may not be in the proper position.

• The room may not be humid enough compared to the humidity setting on the dehumidifier.

Why does my PERFECT AIRE PAD40 display ‘defrost’ repeatedly without drawing water?

If the defrost light is on but no water is being collected, please try these steps:

1. Turn off the unit and unplug it for 4-6 hours.

2. Plug the unit back in. Select Normal Mode and set the humidity level to no more than 5% lower than the current room humidity shown on the display.

3. Allow time for the unit to run until it successfully reaches the initial humidity setting.

4. Lower the humidity setting another 5% and repeat until the desired humidity is reached (an average setting of 45-50% is recommended).

5. Be sure the unit’s humidity is not set too low, it’s not on too cold a floor, or being used in a room below 41 degrees.

6. Be sure there is sufficient air circulation between the unit and the floor.

Why is my PERFECT AIRE PAD40 displaying a P2 or ‘Bucket Full’ error?

If you see a P2 or ‘Bucket Full’ display, check the following:

• Verify the rubber drain plug is not removed from the back of the unit if you are using the bucket to collect water.

• Check the float switch (an inch-long silver tab in the top of the unit behind the bucket) to ensure it is not cracked, bent, broken, dirty, or obstructed. If bent, re-adjust by bending it back into place.

• Check that the unit is level and that the filter, vents, and bucket are thoroughly clean.

• Unplug the unit for at least 5 minutes.

• Plug the unit back in. Remove and return the bucket securely back into the unit and turn it on.

Why is my PERFECT AIRE PAD40 not drawing any water?

If your dehumidifier is running but not collecting water, consider these points:

• Be sure the unit is not too large or too small for the area of the room.

• When first installed, run the unit on Continuous Mode for 24 hours.

• Allow enough time for the unit to remove moisture.

• Set the humidity low enough to ensure moisture removal (it is not recommended to set below 45%).

• The humidity setting may be the same as the actual humidity in the room, so no moisture needs to be removed.

• Be sure all doors, windows, and other openings are securely closed.

• Be sure the unit is level and that there is sufficient air circulation around the unit, as well as between the unit and the floor.

• Make sure the unit is level and that there are no curtains, blinds, or furniture blocking it.

• Check that the room temperature is not below 41° F.

• If the unit is near a heat source, such as a clothes dryer, relocate it.

Why does my PERFECT AIRE PAD40 constantly cycle on and off?

If the unit is cycling frequently, check the following:

• Be sure the unit is not too large or too small for the area. A unit in a space much smaller than its stated coverage will likely cycle on and off more frequently.

• If the humidity setting and the actual room humidity are very close, the unit will cycle accordingly.

• The fan should go off shortly after the compressor turns off.

• Check that the unit is level, and the filter, vents, and bucket are thoroughly clean with nothing obstructing them.

• Be sure all doors, windows, and other openings are securely closed.

• Ensure there is sufficient air circulation around the unit and between the unit and the floor.

• Unplug the unit for at least 5 minutes. Plug it back in, remove and return the bucket to the dehumidifier, and turn it on.

Why is there water on the floor around my PERFECT AIRE PAD40?

• The hose to the connector or the hose connection may be loose.

• If you are using the bucket to collect water, check that the drain plug is securely in place.

• The foam piece may have been removed from the float in the bucket, causing it to overflow. Call for assistance.

Why is my PERFECT AIRE PAD40 always running?

If the unit runs constantly, review these possibilities:

• Be sure the unit is appropriately sized for the room.

• Allow enough time for the unit to remove moisture initially.

• If the unit is set on Continuous Mode, it will run continuously. De-select the Continuous button and set to Normal Mode with an appropriate humidity setting.

• If the humidity in the room is higher than the set humidity, the unit will continue running.

• Be sure all doors, windows, and other openings are securely closed.

• Check for sufficient air circulation around the unit and ensure nothing is blocking it.

• A lower room temperature can cause the unit to run longer.

• If the unit is near a source of moisture, such as a sink, shower, or washing machine, relocate it.

• Check that the filter, vents, and bucket are thoroughly clean.

Why is the direct drain feature on my PERFECT AIRE PAD40 not working properly?

If water is not draining through the hose, check the following:

• Be sure the hose is CLEAN, pliable, and no longer than 6 feet in length (recommended). Clear tubing with a sizing of 5/8 of an inch for the outer diameter and 1/2 inch for the inner diameter is recommended.

• The hose should be secure on both ends, especially ensuring it is pushed all the way onto the connector piece inside the unit.

• The hose should exit through the back of the unit and always be positioned on a DOWNWARD slope to the drain location.

• If using a garden hose attached to the Adaptor piece, be sure the connection is secure throughout.

• Be sure nothing is obstructing the hose connection and there are no kinks or tears in the hosing.

• Ensure the unit is level and not tilted forward, and that the bucket is pushed in all the way.

• Check that the filter, vents, and bucket are thoroughly clean.

• If water is going into the bucket instead of the hose, the unit is working properly. The customer needs to double-check all the above points and/or un-hook the hosing setup and start again.

Why is my PERFECT AIRE PAD40 making a loud noise during operation?

A loud noise could be caused by the following:

• The air filter is clogged. Clean the filter.

• The unit is tilted instead of being upright as it should be.

• The floor surface is not level.
