The Update Tool is a software tool designed to update the software of all MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC EW-50E controllers connected in the air conditioning control system simultaneously. It allows for updating a maximum of 50 controllers at once from a single PC.

Yes. When connecting the MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC EW-50E via a LAN, you must use the “LAN1” port.

Please be aware of the following restrictions when using the Update Tool for your MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC EW-50E:

• The AE-200 Update Tool is exclusively for AE-200/AE-50/EW-50 models. Do not use it for other products.

• The software cannot be downgraded to an earlier version.

• A maximum of 50 controllers can be updated at the same time.

• Communication between the MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC EW-50E and the air conditioning units will stop during the update. The unit will continue to operate and can be controlled by local remote controllers, but a communication error may appear.

• Mr. Slim indoor units or systems without local remote controllers may detect a communication error and stop abnormally.

• Up to 60 minutes of energy management and billing function data will not be recorded during the update.

• If the Pulse Input (PI) function of a MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC EW-50E is used, any pulses input during the software update will not be counted.

• It is important to record the operation status of the air conditioning units before the update and check them again after the update is complete, manually operating them as necessary.

• Functions like scheduled operations, billing, Peak Cut control, and energy management will be disabled during the update. Check the settings of these functions beforehand.

Yes. If the functions in the table below are used with your MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC EW-50E, avoid updating the software during the indicated time period.

Before you begin, ensure that .NET Framework version 4.8 is installed. You can check this in the Control Panel under “Program and Features”.

1. Double-click the downloaded “AE-200 UpdateTool_V***.msi” file.

2. If a “Security Warning” message appears, click [Run].

3. When the “Setup Wizard” screen appears, click [Next].

4. Read the “License Agreement”, select [I Agree], and click [Next].

5. On the “Select Installation Folder” screen, choose the destination folder and click [Next]. To allow all PC users access to the tool, ensure the [Everyone] checkbox is selected.

6. When the “Confirm Installation” screen appears, click [Next].

7. The Update Tool will now be installed.

8. Once the installation is complete, click [Close].

To send data from the Update Tool to your MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC EW-50E, you must set your PC’s IP address to be on the same network. For example, if the controller’s IP is 192.168.11.1, your PC’s IP could be 192.168.11.150. Consult your system administrator if connecting to an existing LAN.

1. Open the Control Panel on your PC.

2. Click [Network and Sharing Center] > [Change adapter settings]. Double-click the [Ethernet] icon.

3. In the “Ethernet status” window, click [Properties].

4. Select [Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)] and click [Properties].

5. In the Properties window, select the radio button for [Use the following IP address].

6. Enter the PC’s IP address (e.g., 192.168.11.150).

7. Enter the subnet mask (e.g., 255.255.255.0, unless specified otherwise).

8. Enter the gateway address if necessary.

9. Click [OK] or [Close] to close all windows and save the settings.

Important: Always consult the system administrator to decide the IP, subnet mask, and gateway addresses, and make a note of the original settings before changing them.

If .NET Framework 4.8 is not already installed on your PC, you will need to download and install it from the official Microsoft download page. If your system is not connected to the Internet, you will need to download the offline installer beforehand from an internet-connected device and transfer it to the target PC.

Note: Up to 50 centralized controllers can be updated at the same time.

The menu bar contains two main menus: File and Help.

File Menu:

• [Open]: Click [File] > [Open] to load a TXT file containing the destination IP addresses of your MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC EW-50E controllers.

• [Save]: Click [File] > [Save] to save the IP addresses that are currently entered in the IP address setting area to a TXT file on your PC.

• [Exit]: Click [File] > [Exit] to close the Update Tool.

Help Menu:

• [About]: Click [Help] > [About] to display the current version information of the Update Tool software.

There are two ways to input the IP addresses:

1. Inputting IP addresses directly:

Enter the IP address of each MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC EW-50E to be updated directly into a row in the “Destination IP address” column on the main screen.

Important: Enter the IP address in one-byte characters in the format [XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX], where XXX is an integer between 0 and 255. Do not enter any other characters, including tabs or spaces.

2. Loading IP addresses from a TXT file:

1. Using Notepad or a similar text editor, create a file containing the IP addresses of the centralized controllers. Enter one IP address per line.

2. In the Update Tool, click [File] > [Open].

3. A file selection screen will appear. Select the TXT file you created and click [Open].

4. The IP addresses from the file will be loaded and displayed in the “Destination IP address” column.

Note: You can load up to 50 IP addresses. A blank line in the TXT file will appear as a blank line in the tool.

1. After inputting the IP addresses for your MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC EW-50E controllers, click the [Acquire data] button.

2. The tool will communicate with each controller. Once successful, the “Status” column will display “Data acquisition succeeded”, and the “Model name”, “Version”, and “Serial No.” columns will be populated with the information for each controller.

1. Select the update file: In the “Update file selection” section, click [Browse…] next to “AE-50/EW-50 update file”. Select the correct update file (“AE50_FW####_****.dat”) and click [Open]. The file path will appear in the text box.

2. Start the update: Click the [Update] button. The “Authentication information input” screen will appear.

3. Enter credentials: For the first controller (No. 1), enter the ID and password for its initial settings. For subsequent controllers, if they use the same ID and password, you can check the “Same as No. 1” checkbox. If they have different credentials, enter them manually.

4. Confirm authentication: Click [OK]. The authentication screen will close, and the update process will begin.

5. Monitor the status: The “Status” column on the main screen will show the progress for each MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC EW-50E controller (e.g., “Updating…”, “Update completed”).

Important: During the update process, do not close the application, disconnect the LAN cable, or turn off the power to the MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC EW-50E.

During the update process, the “Status” column will display the following messages in a typical sequence:

The approximate time required for the update varies with the number of controllers and the software version.

1. Click [File] > [Save] from the menu bar.

2. A “Save As” screen will appear. Enter a file name for your list of IP addresses and click [Save].

3. A confirmation window will appear stating “The destination IP addresses have been saved.” Click OK.
