The safety symbols are intended to alert you to important information regarding the operation and maintenance of the MEIJI TECHNO CK3900 camera:

Lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within a triangle: Alerts the user to the presence of uninsulated “dangerous voltage” within the product’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock.

Exclamation point within a triangle: Alerts the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the appliance.

Slash within a circle: Alerts the user to the prohibition of any kind of operation, maintenance, and storage.

Abstraction of disassembly within a circle: Alerts the user to the prohibition of disassembling the product.

Abstraction of unplugging within a circle: Alerts the user to turn the power off on the product and to take out the plug.

Abstraction of rain/moisture within a circle: Alerts the user to the prohibition of exposing the product to rain, moisture, or any kind of moist surroundings.

Please observe the following precautions when using your MEIJI TECHNO CK3900 camera:

• Do not attempt to disassemble this camera.

• To prevent electric shock, do not remove the cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.

• Do not expose this camera to rain or moisture.

• Do not face this camera towards the sun, extreme bright light, or light-reflecting objects. Even when this camera is not in use, put the supplied lens cap on the lens mount.

• Handle this camera with the maximum care.

• Operate this camera only from the type of power source indicated on the camera.

• Power-off the camera during any modification such as changes of jumper-line and jumper-register.

The MEIJI TECHNO CK3900 camera has the following main features:

• 1/2″ Exview HAD™ IT color CCD sensor.

• NTSC: 768 (h) x 494 (v), PAL: 752 (h) x 582 (v).

• 450 TV lines horizontal resolution.

• Composite VBS and Y/C output.

• Excellent color reproduction.

• Frame integration mode for higher sensitivity.

• S/N ratio > 50 dB.

• White balance automatic or manual.

• Auto iris and CCD iris for light regulation.

• Manual shutter up to 1/10,000 sec.

• Scanning reversal function (mirror-effect mode).

• CS-lens mount with focus adjustment.

• Employs a 9-pin D-sub connector at the camera rear panel for a single cable solution.

The standard package includes the following items:

The 9-pin D-sub connector for DC IN/SYNC/RS-232C has the following pinout:

• Pin 1: Ground

• Pin 2: +12V DC input

• Pin 3: Ground

• Pin 4: VBS output

• Pin 5: Sync. input

• Pin 6: Y output

• Pin 7: C output

• Pin 8: TXD output

• Pin 9: RXD input

The S-VIDEO connector has the following pinout:

• Pin 1: Ground

• Pin 2: Ground

• Pin 3: Y output

• Pin 4: C output

The LENS connector has the following pinout:

• Pin 1: +9V / Damp-

• Pin 2: NC / Damp+

• Pin 3: Iris / Drive+

• Pin 4: Ground / Drive-

You can select the type of auto iris using the SW1 switch, which is located on the CCD board (PK8167) inside the camera.

• Up position: Direct drive mode (Passive)

• Down position: Video controlled (Active)

Note: The factory pre-set is Video controlled.

The following functions can be adjusted using the on-screen menu:

• White balance

• Shutter

• Gain

• Back light compensation

• Lens iris

• Gamma

• Scanning reversal

• Sensitive

The white balance function adjusts the color temperature to make the color of the image correct. The following settings are available:

• 3200 K: For incandescent lamp or halogen lamp.

• 4600 K: For white fluorescent lamp.

• 5600 K: For daylight.

• Auto: A TTL system is employed to detect the highest video level in objects to recognize a white color. It is necessary to place the camera in a position where it does not pick up spotlights and fluorescent lights.

• Manual: Allows you to adjust the color temperature between 2700 K to 6700 K.

Note: The factory pre-set is auto white balance.

The shutter function is used for “freezing” objects and for light regulation. The following settings are available:

• OFF: 1/60 sec. (NTSC), 1/50 sec. (PAL).

• Selectable shutter: 1/125, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000, 1/2000, 1/4000, 1/10,000 sec.

• Flicker-less: 1/100 sec. (NTSC), 1/120 sec. (PAL).

• CCD iris: Shutter speed changes automatically from 1/60 sec. to 1/10000 sec. (NTSC) or 1/50 sec. to 1/10,000 sec. (PAL).

Note: The factory pre-set is OFF.

CAUTION

1. Under certain unique light conditions, the following may appear: strong smear and/or blooming on highlighted objects, and noticeable flicker in the picture.

2. CCD iris: Continuous variable electronic shutter controls the exposure time of the CCD sensor, depending on the incoming light level. When this mode is selected, an auto or manual iris lens can be used instead of an auto iris lens.

3. Shutter speed and sensitive mode: In sensitive mode, the CCD iris does not function.

The following AGC (Auto Gain Control) settings are available:

• OFF: Gain is fixed at minimum 0 dB.

• +12 dB: AGC ON (0 to +12 dB).

• +24 dB: AGC ON (0 to +24 dB).

• Manual: Manual gain.

Note: The factory pre-set is AGC OFF.

CAUTION

An auto iris lens can be used only when the CCD iris is OFF.

The BLC circuit compensates for extreme highlights in the field of view. There are three pre-defined patterns that can be selected. The higher the value in the pattern, the more backlight compensation is applied.

• Pattern 1: Center-weighted (value of 9 in the center).

• Pattern 2: Center-weighted (value of 15 in the center).

• Pattern 3: Center-weighted (value of 10 in the center).

Note: The factory pre-set is OFF.

CAUTION

1. The BLC works under the following conditions:

2. It is recommended to switch “BLC OFF” when using the camera with a pan/tilt head or if the scene illumination changes rapidly.

3. With “BLC ON”, the regulation speed of the iris is decreased.

This function sets the gamma correction. The available settings are:

• 0.45: Correction

• 0.6: Correction

• 1.0: Linear

Note: The factory pre-set is 0.45.

The Scanning Reversal function (mirror-effective mode) can change the horizontal scanning between normal and reverse.

• OFF: Normal scanning

• ON: Reversal scanning

Note: The factory pre-set is OFF.

The sensitivity can be set at these pre-set positions to adjust exposure time:

• OFF: Standard sensitivity (Exposure time = 1 field).

• Sensitive 1: 2 times higher than standard sensitivity (Exposure time = 2 fields).

• Sensitive 2: 4 times higher than standard sensitivity (Exposure time = 4 fields).

Note: The factory pre-set is OFF.

The on-screen menu can be controlled by the “UP”, “DOWN”, and “FUNC” switches on the rear panel of the camera.

(a) To start adjustment, push the “FUNC” button. The menu will appear on the monitor.

(b) Use the “UP” or “DOWN” buttons to choose functions. To select a function, press the “FUNC” button.

(c) After selecting the function, press the “UP” or “DOWN” buttons to choose a mode. To select the mode, press the “FUNC” button.

(d) Go to the next function if needed, and repeat steps (b) to (c).

Note: A scroll bar will be displayed when manual functions are selected (e.g., White balance = manual, AGC = manual, Iris = manual).

The following functions can be controlled via the RS 232C interface:

a) White balance: To adjust the color temperature.

b) Electronic shutter: To adjust the shutter speed.

c) Auto gain control: OFF, +12dB, +24dB, manual selectable.

d) Back light compensation: To create your own BLC pattern.

e) Iris level: To adjust the video level.

f) Gamma: 0.45, 0.60, 1.0 selectable.

g) Scanning reversal: To select the scanning direction.

h) Frame integration: To select the sensitivity.
