The safety installations on your KARCHER K 5 FULL CONTROL PLUS serve to protect the user and should not be modified or bypassed. They include:

Appliance switch: This switch prevents unintentional operation of the appliance.

Lock trigger gun: This lock secures the lever of the trigger gun and prevents the accidental start of the device.

Overflow valve with pressure switch: This valve prevents the permissible working pressure from being exceeded. If the lever on the trigger gun is released, the pressure switch turns off the pump, and the high-pressure jet stops. When the lever is pulled, the pump turns on again.

Motor protection switch: This switch turns off the device if the power consumption is high.

You should use this KARCHER K 5 FULL CONTROL PLUS pressure washer for private households only.

It is designed for cleaning machines, vehicles, buildings, tools, facades, terraces, gardening tools, etc., using a high-pressure water jet. If necessary, you can also use it with additional cleaning agents approved by KÄRCHER.

Before starting up your KARCHER K 5 FULL CONTROL PLUS, you need to mount the loose parts delivered with the appliance. You will need the 2 included screws and a Philips screwdriver PH 2.

Installing the base:

1. Insert the base.

2. Insert the included dowels all the way into the holes.

3. Secure the base with the enclosed screws.

Install storage for spray lances:

1. Hook in the storage for spray lances.

2. Secure the storage for the spray lances by means of two screws.

Install the transport handle:

1. Attach the transport handle.

2. Secure the transport handle by means of two screws.

Attach the net to the accessory compartment:

1. Hook the net into the hooks shown in the illustration.

Before the initial startup of your KARCHER K 5 FULL CONTROL PLUS, the high-pressure gun must be coupled to the high-pressure cleaner.

1. Insert the mains plug into the socket.

2. Within one minute, simultaneously press the + and – buttons on the high-pressure gun.

3. Hold down the buttons until the entire signal strength symbol flashes.

4. Once coupling is complete, all six pressure levels will be displayed.

1. Park the KARCHER K 5 FULL CONTROL PLUS on an even surface.

2. Completely wind off the high-pressure hose and disentangle any loops and knots.

3. Put the disentangled high-pressure hose through the hose guide from the back.

4. Push the high pressure hose into the trigger gun until it locks audibly. Make sure the connection nipple is aligned correctly.

5. Check the secure connection by pulling on the high pressure hose.

6. Insert the mains plug into the socket.

Water supply from mains:

Observe the regulations of your water supplier. ATTENTION: Hose couplings made of metal with aquastop can damage the pump. Please use plastic couplings or KÄRCHER brass couplings.

1. Screw the coupling element to the water connection on the appliance.

2. Attach the water supply hose to the coupling on the water connection.

3. Connect the water supply hose to the water supply.

4. Completely open the water tap.

Drawing in water from open reservoirs:

This KARCHER K 5 FULL CONTROL PLUS is suited to work with the KÄRCHER suction hose with backflow valve (Optional accessory) to draw in surface water from sources like water butts or ponds.

1. Fill the suction hose with water.

2. Screw the suction hose into the water connection of the appliance and insert it into the water source (e.g. rainwater drum).

Bleed the device as follows prior to operation:

1. Turn on the appliance “I/ON”.

2. Unlock the lever of the trigger gun.

3. Push the lever of the trigger gun; the device will switch on.

4. Using the +/- buttons, set the high-pressure gun to detergent level 1.

5. Let the device run (max. 2 minutes) until the water exits the trigger gun without bubbles.

6. Release the lever of the trigger gun.

7. Lock the lever of the trigger gun.

The +/- buttons on the high-pressure gun of your KARCHER K 5 FULL CONTROL PLUS can be used to select the pressure and detergent dosing levels. You can change the spray type by turning the 3-in-1 multi jet spray lance.

ATTENTION: The sensitivity of materials can strongly differ depending on the age and condition. The so-called recommendations are non-binding.

CAUTION: Keep a distance of at least 30 cm when using the jet for cleaning painted surfaces to avoid damage.

ATTENTION: Car tyres, paint or sensitive surfaces such as wood should not be cleaned with the dirt blaster, as there is a risk of damage.

1. Push the 3-in-1 multi jet spray lance into the high-pressure gun and fasten it by a 90° rotation (observe alignment!).

2. Select spray type by turning the 3-in-1 multi jet spray lance until the required spray display is visible above.

3. Turn on the appliance “I/ON”.

4. Unlock the lever of the trigger gun.

5. Push the lever of the trigger gun; the device will switch on. Note: Release the lever of the trigger gun; the device will switch off again. High pressure remains in the system.

Note: Detergent can only be added when the device is operated in low pressure mode.

1. Remove the cap of the Plug ‘n’ Clean detergent bottle.

2. Push the detergent bottle with the opening pointing downwards into the connection for the Plug ‘n’ Clean detergent.

3. Turn the 3-in-1 multi jet spray lance to detergent nozzle “MIX”. This will mix the detergent with the water stream.

4. Using the +/- buttons of the high-pressure gun, set the desired detergent concentration.

Recommended cleaning method:

1. Spray the detergent sparingly on the dry surface and allow it to react, but not to dry.

2. Spray off loosened dirt with the high pressure jet.

After operation with detergent:

1. Remove the Plug ‘n’ Clean detergent bottle from the intake and close it with the lid.

2. For storage, put the detergent bottle into the retainer with the cap pointing up.

3. To rinse, operate the device for about 30 seconds in detergent level 1.

Interrupting operation:

1. Release the lever of the trigger gun.

2. Lock the lever of the trigger gun.

3. Put the trigger gun with the spray lance into the parking position.

4. During longer breaks (more than 5 minutes), also turn the appliance off using the “0/OFF” switch.

Finish operation:

CAUTION: Only separate the high-pressure hose from the trigger gun or the device when there is no pressure in the system.

1. Release the lever of the trigger gun.

2. Turn off the tap.

3. Press the lever of the high-pressure gun for 30 seconds to release any remaining pressure in the system.

4. Release the lever of the trigger gun.

5. Lock the lever of the trigger gun.

6. Detach the appliance from the water supply.

7. Turn off the appliance “0/OFF”.

8. Disconnect the mains plug from the socket.

CAUTION: Risk of personal injury or damage! Mind the weight of the appliance during transport.

When transporting by hand:

1. Lift the appliance by the carrying handle and carry it.

2. Pull out the transport handle until it audibly snaps into place.

3. Pull the appliance by its transport handle.

When transporting in vehicles:

1. Prior to horizontal transport: Remove the Plug ‘n’ Clean detergent bottle from the intake and close it with the lid.

2. Secure the appliance against shifting and tipping over.

Storing the Appliance:

1. Park the machine on an even surface.

2. Detach the spray lance from the trigger gun.

3. Push the disconnect button on the trigger gun and pull the high-pressure hose out of the trigger gun.

4. Place the trigger gun into the storage for the trigger gun.

5. Put the 3-in-1 multi jet spray lance into the storage for the spray lance.

6. Coil the high-pressure hose and hang it over the hose storage.

7. Store the mains connection in the accessory compartment.

Frost protection:

ATTENTION: Appliances and accessories that are not completely drained can be destroyed by frost. Completely drain the appliance and accessories and protect them against frost.

1. Detach the appliance from the water supply.

2. Detach the spray lance from the trigger gun.

3. Turn on the appliance “I/ON”.

4. Push the lever of the trigger gun until no more water is escaping (approx. 1 min).

5. Release the lever of the trigger gun.

6. Lock the lever of the trigger gun.

7. Turn off the appliance “0/OFF”.

8. Store the appliance and the entire accessories in a frost free room.

Clean the sieve in the water connection regularly.

1. Remove the coupling from the water connection. ATTENTION: The sieve must not be damaged.

2. Pull the sieve out using flat pliers.

3. Clean the sieve under running water.

4. Reinsert the sieve into the water connection.

The batteries are depleted if nothing or an empty battery symbol is shown on the display of the high-pressure gun. Two batteries or accumulators of the size AAA are required.

1. Push the locking slide.

2. Open the battery compartment.

3. Remove the batteries.

4. Insert new batteries and observe the correct orientation of the terminals.

5. Close the battery compartment.

6. Dispose of the used batteries according to the local provisions.

1. Push the lever of the trigger gun; the device should switch on.

2. Check whether the voltage indicated on the type plate corresponds to the voltage of the mains supply.

3. Check the mains connection cable for damages.

4. If the motor is overloaded, the motor circuit breaker has tripped:

– Turn off the appliance “0/OFF”.

– Allow the device to cool down for one hour.

– Switch on the device and put it into operation again.

– If the malfunction occurs repeatedly, have the device checked by customer service.

This may be due to a voltage reduction from a weak mains supply or when using an extension cable. To resolve this, upon switch-on, push the lever of the trigger gun first and then switch the power switch to “I/ON”.

If your KARCHER K 5 FULL CONTROL PLUS is not building pressure, follow these steps:

1. Check the setting at the spray lance.

2. Check the water supply for an adequate delivery rate.

3. Pull out the sieve in the water connection using flat-nose pliers and clean it under running water.

4. Remove air from the appliance before operation. Switch on the appliance without the HP hose connected (max. 2 minutes) and run it until the water discharging from the HP outlet is free of bubbles. Then switch off the appliance and reconnect the HP hose.

If you are experiencing strong pressure fluctuations, try the following:

1. Clean the high-pressure nozzle: Remove dirt and debris from the nozzle bore using a needle and rinse through with water from the front.

2. Check the water flow quantity.

A dropwise leakage of the device is normal for technical reasons. If the leakage increases, contact the authorized customer service.

1. Turn the 3-in-1 multi jet spray lance to the detergent nozzle “MIX”.

2. Check whether the Plug ‘n’ Clean detergent bottle is placed into the detergent connection facing down.

1. Check or replace the batteries.

2. Decrease the distance between the high-pressure gun and the high-pressure cleaner.

3. Couple it to the high-pressure cleaner again.

1. Switch off the device and pull the mains plug out of the socket.

2. After 20 seconds, insert the power cord back into the socket and switch the device on.

If the malfunction occurs repeatedly, have the device checked by the customer service.

If the pressure regulation on the high-pressure gun is defective (due to an electronic defect, empty battery, etc.), the KARCHER K 5 FULL CONTROL PLUS high-pressure cleaner continues operating at the level that was last set.

To activate emergency operation at the maximum level:

1. Switch off the device and pull the mains plug out of the socket.

2. Insert the power cord back into the socket and switch the device on.
