The following optional accessories are available for the KANOMAX CLIMOMASTER 6533-21.

Danger: To Prevent Serious Injury or Death

• Never bring the probe close to a flammable gas atmosphere. The heated sensor may cause a fire or explosion.

• Never touch the sensor. The sensor is heated during operation. Touching it may cause burns and damage the sensor.

• Do not disassemble or heat the batteries, or put them into a fire. This may cause burns and the batteries may burst.

• If abnormal noises, smells, or smoke occur, or if liquid enters the instrument, turn off the instrument immediately, remove the batteries, or pull out the plug. There is a possibility of malfunction, electric shock, and/or fire.

Caution: To Prevent Damage to the Product

• Always unplug the instrument from the electrical outlet when it is not in use.

• Do not use the instrument in a water vapor atmosphere. Condensed steam on the sensor will result in inaccurate measurements and may cause damage.

• This instrument is designed for clean air streams. Foreign materials or dust may cause damage to the sensor and impede accurate measurements.

• Do not apply force to the sensor. If the sensor is deformed, its accuracy may be affected.

• When measuring, ensure the direction mark is facing into the airflow for uni-directional probes.

• Do not use or leave the instrument in high temperature, high humidity, or dusty environments, or under direct sunlight for prolonged periods.

• Do not subject the instrument or probe to strong impacts like dropping it or placing heavy objects on it.

• Never disassemble, modify, or repair the product.

• Do not pick up or carry the instrument by the probe cable.

• Remove batteries when storing for a long period. Do not leave exhausted batteries in the compartment. Insert batteries with the correct polarity.

• Do not wipe the instrument with a volatile solvent. Use a soft dry cloth.

• Discharge any built-up static electricity from your body before touching the instrument.

• Regularly check the probe head for contamination. To clean dust, use a blow brush or rinse with water and air-dry completely. Turn the power off before cleaning and never dry with heat.

• Do not move the main unit and probe from a cold to a warm place quickly to avoid condensation.

• Do not touch the LCD screen with sharp objects or excessive pressure.

• When storing, put the instrument in its carrying case at an ambient temperature of -10 to 50°C with no condensation.

• Do not dispose of the instrument as household waste. Follow local or national legislation for disposal.

MENU Key: Enters the Main Menu to select a function. Pressing the MENU key also cancels the current measurement or setting and returns to the Main Menu.

START/HOLD Key: Starts and stops calculations and/or measurements. It also functions as a hold key during measurements.

Up/Down Navigation Keys: In Normal Mode, these keys allow you to select the time constant (1, 5, or 10 sec). In the Main Menu, these keys are used to scroll in the desired direction.

MODE Key: Selects the measurement mode. It cycles through the available parameters such as Air Velocity, Air Temperature, Humidity, Air Flow, and Pressure (if applicable).

SET Key: Executes the selected item or confirms a setting.

The “NO PROBE!” warning is displayed when the KANOMAX CLIMOMASTER 6533-21 is turned on but the probe is not connected properly. To resolve this, turn the power off and check the connection of the probe.

1. Press down on the battery cover on the back of the body.

2. Slide the cover until it stops.

3. Lift the cover away from the body.

4. Insert six (6) AA size batteries according to the indicated polarity chart. All batteries must be of the same type. Do not mix different types of batteries.

Types of batteries that can be used are:

• Manganese AA size batteries

• Alkaline AA size batteries

• Ni-Cd AA size batteries

• Ni-MH AA size batteries

Note: Batteries CANNOT be recharged by the AC adapter.

5. Put the cover back on by reversing the above procedure.

Make sure the power is turned OFF before connecting the probe.

1. Align the connector of the probe or probe cable with the probe terminal on the body. When connecting the probe, ensure the probe number faces towards the front side of the main unit.

2. Line up the connector and the terminal and gently push until it clicks. Do not force the connector in or rotate it once connected, as this may cause serious damage.

Make sure the power is turned OFF before disconnecting the probe.

1. Lightly lift the locking ring of the probe/probe cable.

2. Pull the probe/probe cable out vertically while holding the lock ring up. Do not rotate the connector, as this may cause serious damage.

Air Velocity

• For omnidirectional probes (like model 6533), they have a horizontal, 360-degree dynamic characteristic.

• Ensure that both the air velocity sensor and temperature compensation sensor are evenly exposed to the airflow under the same temperature conditions.

• For measurements in an environment with rapid air temperature changes, measure for at least 20 seconds and wait for the reading to stabilize before starting the actual measurement.

Air Temperature

• The faster the wind, the shorter the response time. The normal response time is approximately 30 seconds when the air velocity is 1 m/s (90% response). Wait for the reading to become stable.

• When no airflow is present, the reading may be higher than the actual temperature due to heat from the air velocity sensor. It is recommended to slowly wave the probe to create an environment with approx. 0.1 m/s airflow to obtain accurate readings.

Humidity

• Readings in an atmosphere with extremely high humidity or rapid temperature changes may be higher than actual humidity due to condensation on the sensor surface. If this occurs, allow the probe to dry in an atmosphere with 40%RH or less for 24 hours.

Before measuring volumetric flow rate, the duct shape and size must be entered. You can register up to 25 different duct types.

1. Press MENU to enter the Main Menu.

2. Use the navigation keys to select “2. DUCT TYPE” and press SET.

To Set Duct ENTRY No.:

1. Select “1. ENTRY No.” and press SET.

2. Use the navigation keys to choose a memory address from 1 to 25 and press SET.

To Set Duct SHAPE (RECTANGLE/CIRCLE):

1. Select “2. SHAPE” and press SET.

2. Use the navigation keys to select “RECTANGLE” or “CIRCLE” and press SET.

To Set Duct Size:

• For a Rectangular Duct: Select “3. WIDTH”, press SET, use the navigation keys to enter the width, and press SET. Then select “4. HEIGHT”, press SET, enter the height, and press SET.

• For a Circular Duct: Select “3. DIAMETER”, press SET, use the navigation keys to enter the diameter, and press SET.

The maximum size is 9999mm or 999.9 inch.

To Set Units (mm/inch):

1. Select “5. UNIT(mm/inch)” (or “4. UNIT” for a circular duct) and press SET.

2. Use the navigation keys to select mm or inch and press SET.

To Save the Setting:

1. Select “6. SAVE INFO” and press SET. This will complete the Duct Shape/Size Input and return you to the Main Menu.

To Hold the Current Reading:

While measuring in NORMAL Mode, press the START/HOLD key to hold the current reading. The “HOLD” indicator will appear on the display. This applies to flow rate and pressure screens as well. Press the START/HOLD key again to release.

To Hold the Maximum Value:

While measuring in NORMAL Mode, press and hold the START/HOLD key. The “HOLD” indicator will appear, and as long as you keep the button pressed, the display will hold the maximum value of each parameter (air velocity, air temperature, humidity, and pressure). When you release the key, the reading will be frozen. Press the key again to release.

In NORMAL Mode, you can change the Time Constant (TC) by pressing the up or down navigation keys. The Time Constant determines the time span of the moving average. A larger value provides more stable readings, while a smaller value is more responsive.

You can select from:

• TC1: Displays the instantaneous value at every 1 second.

• TC5: Displays the moving average for the past 5 seconds, updated every second.

• TC10: Displays the moving average for the past 10 seconds, updated every second.

By default, the Time Constant is only effective for Air Velocity and Air Flow measurements. To apply it to Air Temperature and Humidity, you must change a setting in the UTILITY menu.

CALCULATION Mode automatically calculates the maximum, minimum, and mean of the measured data.

Setup:

1. Press MENU and select “3. CALCULATION”, then press SET.

2. Set the “1. MODE”: Select AVERAGE (takes a measurement every second and displays the average for the sampling time) or INSTANT (takes a single measurement at the end of the sampling time).

3. Set the “2. SAMPLING TIME”: Select the duration of the sampling time (1 to 999 sec).

4. Set the “3. SAMPLING (n)”: Select the number of trials or samples to be taken (1 to 9999 times).

5. Set “4. DATA STORAGE”: Select YES or NO to store the results.

6. Select “5. SET TO START” to save settings and return to standby.

Measurement:

1. On the READY screen, press MODE to change the applied parameters if needed (Air Velocity, Flow Rate, etc.).

2. Press START/HOLD to begin the measurement.

3. Press START/HOLD to stop. If you selected YES for Data Storage, the data will be stored.

4. After all trials are finished, the calculated results (MAX, AVG, MIN) will be displayed. Use the navigation keys to check each parameter (Air Velocity, Air Temp, Humidity, Dew Point Temperature, Discomfort Index).

This mode is for measuring airflow in a duct (duct traverse). It calculates the average, maximum, and minimum values from all measured points.

Setup:

1. Press MENU and select “4. FLOW RATE”, then press SET.

2. Select “1. SINGLE FLOW RATE” and press SET.

3. Set “1. SAMPLING TIME” (1 to 999 sec): The interval time between each sampling.

4. Set “2. SAMPLING (n)” (1 to 9999 times): The number of trials to be sampled at each point.

5. Set “3. MEAS. POINT” (1 to 2000 points): The total number of measuring points.

6. Set “4. DATA STORAGE”: Select YES or NO to store the results.

7. Set “5. DUCT ENTRY NO.”: Select the registered duct entry number to be used.

8. Select “6. SET TO START” to save settings and go to the ready screen.

Measurement:

1. On the ready screen, press START/HOLD to start measuring at the first point.

2. After the measurement for Point 1 is complete, the instrument will be in STANDBY, ready to measure Point 2. Move the probe to the next position.

3. Press START/HOLD to measure the next point. Repeat for all points.

4. To stop the measurement for a single point, press START/HOLD. To continue, press START/HOLD again. To complete the entire measurement process, press SET.

5. After all points are measured, the results (MAX, AVG, MIN) will be displayed. Use the navigation keys to cycle through the parameters: Air Flow, Air Temperature, Humidity, and Air Velocity.

1. Press MENU to enter the Main Menu.

2. Use the navigation keys to select “5. DATA OUTPUT” and press SET.

3. Select “1. DISPLAY” and press SET.

4. The PAGE SET screen will appear. Use the navigation keys to select the page of data you would like to recall and press SET.

5. The recalled data for the selected page will be displayed. Use the navigation keys to scroll through the data points.

6. If you measured Flow Rate, you can press MODE to switch between viewing Flow Rate and Air Velocity.

7. To calculate the MAX/AVG/MIN for a specific range of the displayed data, press SET to display a cursor on “START”. Use the navigation keys to select the first data point for calculation and press SET. The cursor will move to “END”. Select the last data point and press SET. Then press START/HOLD to calculate for the displayed data range.

Regular cleaning is encouraged to maintain the accuracy of measurements.

Procedure:

Clean the sensor by soaking it in water in an ultrasonic cleaner for 10 to 20 seconds. Do not soak it for too long, as there is an increased risk of damaging the coating. Please use only water for cleaning the probe.

CAUTION:

• When cleaning, make sure the power is turned OFF.

• Make sure the sensor is dry before turning it ON.

• DO NOT let the humidity sensor come into contact with water (MODEL 6533). If wet, let it air dry by placing it in an environment with less than 40%RH for more than 24 hours.

• NEVER USE alcohol or any other organic fluid. Alcohol will cause permanent damage to the humidity sensor.

• DO NOT place the sensor in an upward position until it is completely dry, as residual water could damage the sensor. Use cool air to help dry it.

To Delete a Range of Data:

1. Press MENU and select “6. DATA CLEAR”, then press SET.

2. Select “1. CLEAR” and press SET.

3. Use the navigation keys to select the starting page number to delete and press SET.

4. Use the navigation keys to select the ending page number to delete and press SET.

5. Use the navigation keys to select “YES” for partial delete and press SET. The selected page(s) will be deleted, and the remaining data will shift up.

To Delete All the Data:

1. Press MENU and select “6. DATA CLEAR”, then press SET.

2. Select “2. ALL CLEAR” and press SET.

3. Use the navigation keys to select “YES” to delete and press SET. All data will be deleted, and the remaining memory will be reset.

If the LCD display is too dark or too light, you can adjust it using the contrast adjusting dial. The dial is located at the back, bottom of the unit, inside the battery cover.

You can adjust the contrast by using a precision screwdriver (-) (0.9 to 1.5mm). Turn the dial clockwise to darken the LCD and counterclockwise to lighten it.

The battery may be inserted with the wrong polarity. Turn off the power and re-insert the batteries correctly according to the polarity markings in the battery compartment.

The display contrast may not be set up properly. Adjust the contrast dial located inside the battery compartment.

A flashing battery level indicator means the battery is low. Turn off the instrument and replace the batteries.

This indicates that the measurement is outside the instrument’s measuring range. The KANOMAX CLIMOMASTER 6533-21 must be used within the range stated in the specifications.

This can be caused by a few issues:

• The probe or the probe cable is not connected properly. Check the connection between the probe and the probe cable.

• The probe or the probe cable may be damaged. Contact your local representative for repair or replacement.

The KANOMAX CLIMOMASTER 6533-21 cannot measure the correct temperature with no wind (less than 0.1 m/s of wind) due to heat generated by the air velocity sensor. Model 6533 can measure less than 0.1 m/s. It is recommended to gently wave the probe to create minimal airflow for an accurate reading.

The response time is affected by the Time Constant (TC) setting. Set the correct time constant. A lower TC (e.g., TC1) provides a faster response.

• The printer is not connected properly. Confirm the printer connection.

• The Baud Rate might not be set properly. Check that both the instrument and printer are set to the same baud rate.

• Make sure to use the optional printer (Model DPU-S245) and printer cable (Model 6000-31).

• Confirm the connection procedure: connect the printer to the printer port, then turn on the instrument and the printer.

The display is not frozen. First, press the START/HOLD key to hold the display. Then, press the MODE key to print out.

• Confirm the USB connection is secure, which is different from the printer connection.

• The Baud Rate might not be set correctly. Check that both the instrument and the PC software settings match.

• Confirm you are using the correct communication command (e.g., in Hyper Terminal).
