Please observe the following notes when connecting your INTEGRA DRX-3.1:

• Connect speakers with 4 Ω to 16 Ω impedance.

• The power cord must be connected only after all other cable connections are completed.

• We will not accept responsibility for damage arising from the connection of equipment manufactured by other companies.

• Functionality may be introduced by firmware updates and service providers may cease services, meaning that some network services and content may become unavailable in the future. Furthermore, available services may vary depending on your area of residence.

• Specifications and appearance are subject to change without prior notice.

Here are the functions of the front panel components of the INTEGRA DRX-3.1:

1. On/Standby button: Turns the unit on or off.

2. Hybrid Standby indicator: Lights if the unit enters standby mode when features like HDMI Standby Through and Network Standby are enabled.

3. Tone controls: Press Tone to select “Bass” or “Treble”, and adjust with + and -.

4. Remote control sensor: Receives signals from the remote controller. The range is about 16’/5 m.

5. Listening Mode button: Press the button repeatedly to select a category (“Movie/TV”, “Music”, “Game”), then turn the dial below it to change the specific mode.

6. Display: Shows information about the current status of the receiver.

7. Dimmer button: Adjusts the display brightness in three steps.

8. Memory button: Used to register AM/FM radio stations.

9. Tuning Mode button: Switches the tuner’s tuning mode.

10. Info button: Switches the information shown on the display.

11. Setup button: Shows advanced setting items on the TV and display.

12. Cursor buttons (▲/▼/◀/►) and Enter button: Select items and confirm selections. Also used for tuning stations.

13. Return button: Returns the display to the previous state.

14. Master Volume: Adjusts the main volume.

15. Zone 2 buttons: Controls the multi-zone function. The Off button switches the multi-zone function off.

16. Zone 2 Level ▼/▲ buttons: Adjusts the volume for Zone 2.

17. Phones jack: For connecting headphones with a standard plug (Ø1/4″/6.3 mm).

18. AUX Input HDMI jack: For connecting a video camera or other device with an HDMI cable.

19. Input selector buttons: Switches the input to be played.

20. AUX Input Video/Audio jacks: For inputting video and audio signals from an external player with an analog cable.

21. Setup Mic jack: Where the supplied speaker setup microphone is connected.

The display indicators on the INTEGRA DRX-3.1 signify the following:

1. Speaker/Channel display: Shows the output channel corresponding to the selected listening mode.

2. Connection/Status Indicators:

• 🎧: Lights when headphones are connected.

• Z2: Lights when ZONE 2 is on.

• *: Lights when connected by BLUETOOTH.

• 📶: Lights when connected by Wi-Fi.

• NET: Lights when “NET” is selected and connected to the network. Flashes if the connection is incorrect.

• USB: Lights when “NET” is selected, the unit is connected by USB, and a USB device is selected. Flashes if the USB is not properly connected.

• HDMI: Lights when HDMI signals are input and the HDMI input is selected.

• DIGITAL: Lights when digital signals are input and the digital input is selected.

3. Audio Format Indicators: Lights according to the type of input digital audio signals and the listening mode.

4. Tuner/Timer Indicators:

• RDS (Australian models): Receiving RDS broadcasting.

• TUNED: Receiving AM/FM radio.

• FM ST: Receiving FM stereo.

• SLEEP: Lights when the sleep timer is set.

• AUTO STBY: Lights when Auto Standby is on.

5. Muting Indicator: Flashes when muting is on.

6. Information Display: Displays various information about the input signals. Characters that cannot be displayed are replaced with asterisks (*).

7. NET Operation Indicator: This may light when performing operations with the “NET” input selector.

The rear panel of the INTEGRA DRX-3.1 features the following connections:

1. DIGITAL IN OPTICAL/COAXIAL jacks: Input digital audio signals from a TV or AV component.

2. TUNER AM/FM 75Ω terminal: Connect the supplied antennas here.

3. VIDEO IN jacks: Input analog video signals from an AV component.

4. Wireless antenna: Used for Wi-Fi and BLUETOOTH connections. Adjust their angles according to connection status.

5. USB port: Connect a USB storage device for music playback. Also supplies power (5 V/1 A).

6. ETHERNET port: Connect to the network with an Ethernet cable.

7. COMPONENT VIDEO IN jacks: Input component video signals (compatible only with 480i or 576i resolution).

8. HDMI OUT jacks: Transmit video and audio signals to a monitor, TV, or projector.

9. HDMI IN jacks: Transmit video and audio signals from an AV component.

10. RS232 port: For connection to a home control system.

11. AC INLET: Connect the supplied power cord here.

12. GND terminal: Connect the ground wire of a turntable.

13. AUDIO IN jacks: Input analog audio signals from a TV or AV component.

14. SPEAKERS terminals: Connect multichannel speakers for the main room and speakers for a separate room (ZONE 2).

15. ZONE 2 PRE/LINE OUT jacks: Output audio signals to a pre-main or power amplifier in a separate room (ZONE 2).

16. SUBWOOFER PRE OUT jack: Connect up to two powered subwoofers. The same signal is output from each jack.

17. PRE OUT jacks: Connect a power amplifier.

18. IR IN A/B, IR OUT jacks: Connect a multiroom remote control kit.

19. 12V TRIGGER OUT A/B/C jacks: Connect a device with a 12V trigger input jack to enable link operation.

The remote controller for the INTEGRA DRX-3.1 has the following functions:

1. On/Standby button: Turns the unit on or into standby mode.

2. Input selector buttons: Switches the input to be played.

3. Q (Quick Menu) button: Allows for quick settings changes like “Tone” and “Level” on the TV screen.

4. Cursor buttons and Enter button: Selects items and confirms your selection.

5. Setup button: Shows advanced setting items on the TV and display.

6. Volume buttons: Adjust the volume up or down.

7. Muting button: Temporarily mutes audio. Press again to cancel.

8. Listening Mode buttons: Selects the listening mode. Main/Zone 2 buttons control the multi-zone function.

9. Play buttons: Used for play operations for Music Server or USB.

10. Repeat/Random button: Starts repeat or random play for Music Server or USB. Clear button deletes entered characters.

11. i button: Switches information on the display and is used to operate RDS.

12. Return button: Returns the display to the previous state.

13. Mode button: Switches tuning for AM/FM stations between automatic and manual. Also used to control the multi-zone feature.

14. Memory button: Used to register AM/FM radio stations.

If the remote controller isn’t working, it may have switched to the mode for controlling ZONE 2. To switch it back to control the main room, hold down the Mode button and press the Main button for 3 seconds or more until the remote indicator flashes once.

The installation process for the INTEGRA DRX-3.1 consists of three main steps:

Step1: Speaker Layout

Select a speaker layout that suits your speakers and room from the available choices. Options include systems with surround back speakers, height speakers, or Bi-Amping speakers. Install the speakers according to the diagrams and explanations.

Step2: Connect the Speakers

Connect your speaker system to the unit. The connection method will depend on whether you are using a standard layout or a Bi-Amping layout. It’s helpful to prepare the required cables beforehand.

Step3: Connect the TV & AV Components

Connect your external devices such as a TV, Blu-ray Disc Player, and the supplied antennas. This step also covers the Multi-zone Connection option. Confirm the connection types on your external devices and prepare the necessary cables before you start.

A 7.1 Channel System adds surround back speakers to a basic 5.1 channel setup. This improves the sense of envelopment and provides a more realistic sound field.

Speaker Placement:

• Front Speakers (1, 2): Output front stereo sound. Should be positioned at ear height.

• Center Speaker (3): Outputs center sound like dialogs. Should be set up facing the listening position.

• Surround Speakers (4, 5): Create the back sound field. Should be positioned just above ear height.

• Powered Subwoofer (6): Reproduces bass sounds. Placing it between the center and a front speaker gives a natural sound.

• Surround Back Speakers (7, 8): Enhance the back sound field. The optimal positioning is at ear height.

If you include surround back speakers in your setup, surround speakers are also required.

This setup adds a pair of height speakers (Front High or Rear High) to a basic 5.1 channel system to enable Dolby Atmos listening modes for 3D sound.

Speaker Placement:

• Install your standard 5.1 channel system (front, center, surround speakers, and subwoofer) as usual.

• Height Speakers (7, 8): Choose either Front High or Rear High speakers.

• They should be situated at least 3 feet (0.9 m) higher than the front speakers.

• Front High Speakers should be placed directly above the front speakers.

• The distance between the Rear High Speakers should match the distance between the front speakers.

• Both types of height speakers should be set up facing the listening position.

This setup adds a pair of ceiling-mounted height speakers to a 5.1 channel system for Dolby Atmos 3D sound.

Speaker Placement:

• Install your standard 5.1 channel system (front, center, surround speakers, and subwoofer) as usual.

• Height Speakers (7, 8): Choose one of the following ceiling speaker types:

• Top Front Speakers: Fit on the ceiling forward of the seating position.

• Top Middle Speakers: Fit on the ceiling directly above the seating position.

• Top Rear Speakers: Fit on the ceiling behind the seating position.

• The distance between each pair of height speakers should match the distance between the two front speakers.

This setup uses special Dolby Enabled Speakers, which are designed to bounce sound off the ceiling to create an overhead sound effect for Dolby Atmos.

Speaker Placement:

• Install your standard 5.1 channel system (front, center, surround speakers, and subwoofer) as usual.

• Height Speakers (7, 8): Choose one of the following Dolby Enabled Speaker types:

• Dolby Enabled Speakers (Front): Place them above the front speakers.

• Dolby Enabled Speakers (Surround): Place them above the surround speakers.

These speakers are designed to face the ceiling.

With a 5.1 channel system, you can connect Bi-Amping compatible front speakers to improve the quality of the bass and treble. This method uses separate amplifier channels for the tweeters and woofers.

Requirements:

• Your front speakers must support Bi-Amping (have separate terminals for tweeters and woofers).

• You cannot connect height speakers or surround back speakers when using this connection.

Configuration:

• Front Speakers (1, 2): Connect these using the Bi-Amping method.

• Center Speaker (3): Connect as usual.

• Surround Speakers (4, 5): Connect as usual.

• Powered Subwoofer (6): Connect as usual.

The INTEGRA DRX-3.1 supports various speaker channel combinations. In any combination, up to two powered subwoofers can be connected.

(*1) You can select Bi-AMP or ZONE SPEAKER.

(*2) No sound is played from the surround back speakers when playing audio from ZONE SPEAKER.

(*3) No sound is played from the height speakers when playing audio from ZONE SPEAKER.

To connect your speakers to the INTEGRA DRX-3.1, strip about 1/2″ (12 mm) of insulation from the end of each speaker cable and twist the bare wires tightly. Connect the positive (+) wire to the positive (+) terminal and the negative (-) wire to the negative (-) terminal for each speaker.

Up to two powered subwoofers can be connected using subwoofer cables to the SUBWOOFER PRE OUT jacks.

Setup Configuration:

• After connecting, you must run “1. AccuEQ Room Calibration” in the Initial Setup.

• If any connected speaker has an impedance of 4 Ω to less than 6 Ω, you must change a setting after the Initial Setup. On the remote, press Setup, select “2. Speaker” – “Configuration”, and set “Speaker Impedance” to “4ohms”.

Important: Make sure the exposed wires of the speaker cables do not stick out of the terminals. If the wires touch the rear panel or each other (+ and -), the protection circuit will be activated.

Before connecting Bi-Amping speakers, you must remove the jumper bar that connects the woofer and tweeter jacks on your front speakers. You will use separate speaker cables for the high-frequency (tweeter) and low-frequency (woofer) terminals.

Connections:

1. Connect the high-frequency terminals of your front speakers to the FRONT speaker terminals on the receiver.

2. Connect the low-frequency terminals of your front speakers to the SURROUND BACK or HEIGHT speaker terminals on the receiver.

3. Connect the center speaker, surround speakers, and powered subwoofer as you would for a standard connection.

Setup Configuration:

• You will need to configure the speaker settings in “1. AccuEQ Room Calibration” during the Initial Setup.

• If any speaker has an impedance of 4 Ω to less than 6 Ω, you must set “Speaker Impedance” to “4ohms” in the Setup menu after the initial setup is complete.

To connect a TV that supports ARC (Audio Return Channel), use a single HDMI cable.

1. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT MAIN (ARC) jack on the INTEGRA DRX-3.1.

2. Connect the other end to an HDMI IN jack on your TV that also supports ARC.

Setup:

• During the Initial Setup of the receiver, you will be prompted for “5. Audio Return Channel”. Select “Yes”.

• Refer to your TV’s instruction manual for its specific connection and settings for ARC and CEC features.

Another TV or projector can be connected to the HDMI OUT SUB jack, but this jack does not support ARC.

If your TV does not support ARC, you will need two cables to get video to the TV and audio from the TV.

1. HDMI Cable: Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT MAIN jack on the INTEGRA DRX-3.1 to an HDMI IN jack on your TV. This sends video to the TV.

2. Digital Optical Cable: Connect a digital optical cable from the DIGITAL OPTICAL OUT jack on your TV to the DIGITAL IN OPTICAL (TV) jack on the receiver. This sends the TV’s audio to the receiver.

If your TV does not have a digital optical output, you can use an analog audio cable from the TV’s ANALOG AUDIO OUT jack to the AUDIO IN TV jack on the receiver.

To connect devices like a Blu-ray Disc player, cable/satellite set-top box, or streaming media player, use a high-speed HDMI cable for each device.

1. Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT jack of your device (e.g., Blu-ray player) to one of the HDMI IN jacks on the INTEGRA DRX-3.1 (e.g., BD/DVD).

2. Repeat for each HDMI device you want to connect.

Setup:

• To enjoy digital surround sound (like Dolby Digital), set the audio output on your connected device to “Bitstream output”.

• Connecting to a device that supports CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) allows for linked features like automatic input switching and standby.

For devices without HDMI, you will use analog or digital connections for audio and video.

1. Video Connection:

• Use a component video cable for the highest quality analog video. Connect it to the COMPONENT VIDEO IN jacks.

• Or, use a composite video cable (yellow plug) and connect it to the VIDEO IN jack.

2. Audio Connection:

• For digital surround sound, use a digital coaxial cable or a digital optical cable. Connect it to the corresponding DIGITAL IN jacks.

• For analog stereo sound, use an analog audio cable (red and white plugs) and connect it to the AUDIO IN jacks.

Connect the audio and video cables to jacks with the same name (e.g., if you use the BD/DVD video jack, use the BD/DVD audio jack).

Setup:

• The COMPONENT VIDEO IN jacks are only compatible with 480i or 576i resolution. Set your player’s output accordingly.

• For digital surround sound, set the connected player’s audio output to “Bitstream output”.

For a CD Player:

• Use a digital optical cable connected to the DIGITAL IN (CD) jack, or

• Use an analog audio cable connected to the AUDIO IN (CD) jacks.

For a Turntable:

• If your turntable has an MM-type cartridge, connect its audio cables to the PHONO jacks. If it has a ground wire, connect it to the GND terminal on the receiver.

• If your turntable has a built-in audio equalizer, connect it to any AUDIO IN jack other than PHONO.

• If your turntable uses an MC-type cartridge, you must install a compatible audio equalizer between the turntable and the receiver, then connect to any AUDIO IN jack other than PHONO.

You can enjoy audio in a separate room (ZONE 2) while a different source plays in the main room. To output audio from an external AV component to ZONE 2, you must connect it using a digital coaxial, digital optical, or analog audio cable.

ZONE 2 PRE/LINE OUT:

This method sends an audio signal to a separate amplifier or powered speakers in the other room.

• Connect an analog audio cable from the ZONE 2 PRE/LINE OUT jacks on the receiver to the LINE IN jacks of the amplifier in the separate room.

ZONE SPEAKER:

This method uses the receiver’s internal amplifiers to power speakers directly in the other room.

• Connect speaker cables from the ZONE 2 speaker terminals on the receiver to the speakers in the separate room.

• Note: ZONE SPEAKER is not available if you are using a Bi-Amping connection for the front speakers. When ZONE SPEAKER is active, surround back and height speakers in the main room cannot be used.

Setup:

You must configure settings in “4. Multi Zone Setup” during the Initial Setup. Note that audio from external components can only be played in ZONE 2 if the signal is analog or 2ch PCM audio.

Antenna Hookup:

• Connect the supplied AM loop antenna and indoor FM antenna to their respective terminals on the rear panel. Move the antennas around to find the best reception.

Network Hookup:

• Wired LAN: Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the ETHERNET port on the receiver.

• Wi-Fi (Wireless LAN): During the Initial Setup, select “Wireless” in “3. Network Connection” and follow the on-screen instructions to configure the connection.

Power Cord Hookup:

• After all other connections are complete, connect the supplied power cord to the AC INLET on the receiver and then plug the other end into a wall outlet.

The Initial Setup wizard starts automatically when you turn on the unit for the first time after purchase. It will guide you through the necessary settings.

1. Switch the input on your TV to the one the receiver is connected to.

2. Insert the batteries into the remote controller.

3. Press the On/Standby button on the remote to turn the unit on.

4. Follow the on-screen guidance. Use the cursor buttons on the remote to select items and press Enter to confirm.

If you need to run the Initial Setup again, press the Setup button on the remote controller, select “8. Miscellaneous” – “Initial Setup”, and press Enter.

AccuEQ Room Calibration measures test tones to automatically set the optimal volume level, crossover frequencies, and distance for each speaker. It also corrects for distortion caused by the room’s acoustics. The process takes 3 to 12 minutes.

1. Place the supplied speaker setup microphone at ear level in your main listening position. Connect it to the Setup Mic jack on the front panel of the receiver.

2. The setup screen will appear on the TV. Select your connected speaker configuration (e.g., 7.1 ch) and confirm other settings like Subwoofer presence.

3. The unit will emit test tones to detect the connected speakers and measure the room’s noise.

4. After the initial measurements, select “Next” and press Enter. More test tones will be emitted as the unit automatically sets the volume and crossover for each speaker.

5. When the measurement is complete, the results will be displayed. Use the cursor buttons to review the settings, then select “Save” and press Enter to save them.

6. Select whether to enable the equalizer function. “On (All Channels)” is the normal selection.

7. Disconnect the speaker setup microphone.

Important: The test tones are emitted at a high volume, so be careful of your surroundings. Keep the room as quiet as possible. If you have a subwoofer, ensure it is powered on and its volume is set to more than halfway.

After the speaker calibration, the Initial Setup wizard will guide you through the following steps:

2. Source Connection:

Follow the on-screen guidance to check that each input source is connected correctly. You will select an input, start playback on that device, and confirm that you see the image and hear the sound.

3. Network Connection:

Set up a Wi-Fi connection. You have two main options:

• “Scan Networks”: The receiver will search for available Wi-Fi networks. Select your network’s SSID and either enter the password or use the push-button method if your router supports it.

• “Use iOS Device (iOS7 or later)”: Share the Wi-Fi settings from your iOS device with the receiver.

4. Multi Zone Setup:

If you plan to use audio in a separate room (ZONE 2), select the audio output method. Choose “Using AV Receiver” if you connected speakers directly, or the appropriate amplifier option if you are using an external amplifier.

5. Audio Return Channel:

If you have connected a TV that supports ARC, select “Yes”. This enables the ARC setting, allowing you to hear the TV’s audio through the receiver via the HDMI cable.

1. Make sure the unit is on and switch the input on your TV to the one assigned to the receiver.

2. Press the input selector button on the remote controller that corresponds to the device you want to use (e.g., press BD/DVD for your Blu-ray player). The input will switch.

3. Start playback on the AV component.

If you have connected a device to the front panel AUX jacks, press the AUX button.

Pairing:

1. With the receiver on, press the BLUETOOTH button on the remote. The receiver’s display will show “Now Pairing…” and enter pairing mode.

2. On your smartphone or other BLUETOOTH enabled device, turn on its BLUETOOTH function.

3. Select “Integra DRX-3.1 XXXXXX” from the list of available devices on your smartphone. If a password is required, enter “0000”.

The receiver can store pairing information for up to 8 devices.

Playing Back:

1. On your BLUETOOTH device, perform the connection procedure.

2. The input on the INTEGRA DRX-3.1 will automatically switch to “BLUETOOTH”.

3. Play music on your device. It’s recommended to increase the volume on your BLUETOOTH device to an appropriate level.

By connecting the INTEGRA DRX-3.1 to your home network, you can enjoy internet radio, streaming services, and play music files from a PC or NAS (Music Server).

1. Switch the input on your TV to the one assigned to the receiver.

2. Press the NET button on the remote controller. A list of Network Functions will appear on the TV.

3. Use the cursor buttons to select a service (e.g., TuneIn, Spotify, Music Server) and press Enter.

• For internet radio, follow the on-screen instructions to browse and select stations.

• For Music Server, select the server, then browse your music files and press Enter to play.

• For Spotify or AirPlay, select this unit as the playback device from within the respective app on your smartphone or computer.

To return to the previous screen, press the Return button.

1. Switch the input on your TV to the one assigned to the receiver.

2. Plug your USB storage device into the USB port on the receiver’s rear panel.

3. Press the NET button on the remote controller to display the network service list.

4. Use the cursor buttons to select “USB” and press Enter.

5. Press Enter again on the next screen. A list of folders and files on the USB device will be displayed.

6. Use the cursors to navigate to the music file you want to play, and press Enter to start playback.

Do not unplug the USB device while “Connecting…” is displayed, as this may cause data corruption.

Tuning Automatically:

1. Press the Tuner button on the remote repeatedly to select “AM” or “FM”.

2. Press the Mode button so that “TunMode: Auto” is displayed.

3. Press the cursor ▲ / ▼ buttons. The tuner will automatically start searching and stop when it finds a station.

Tuning Manually:

1. Press the Tuner button on the remote repeatedly to select “AM” or “FM”.

2. Press the Mode button so that “TunMode: Manual” is displayed.

3. Press and hold the cursor ▲ / ▼ buttons to scan through frequencies. The frequency will change continuously and stop when you release the button.

You can register up to 40 of your favorite AM/FM radio stations.

Registration Procedure:

1. Tune into the AM/FM radio station you want to register.

2. Press the Memory button on the remote controller. The preset number on the display will start flashing.

3. While the number is flashing (about 8 seconds), use the cursor ◄ / ► buttons to select a preset number between 1 and 40.

4. Press the Memory button again to register the station. The preset number will stop flashing.

Selecting a Preset Radio Station:

1. Press the Tuner button on the remote.

2. Use the cursor ◄ / ► buttons to select the desired preset number.

Deleting a Preset Radio Station:

1. Select the preset you want to delete.

2. Press the Memory button. While the preset number is flashing, press the Clear button. The preset number will disappear from the display.

To control audio in a separate room (ZONE 2), you first need to switch the remote controller to ZONE 2 mode.

1. Switch Remote to ZONE 2 Mode: While holding down the Mode button on the remote, press the Zone 2 button for 3 or more seconds until the remote indicator blinks twice.

2. Turn on ZONE 2: Point the remote at the main unit and press the On/Standby button. “Z2” will light up on the main unit’s display.

3. Select Input for ZONE 2: Press the desired input selector button on the remote (e.g., Tuner, NET) to play that source in the separate room.

4. Adjust Volume: Use the volume buttons on the remote to adjust the volume in the separate room.

To turn off the function: Press the On/Standby button while the remote is in ZONE 2 mode.

To return the remote to Main Room Control Mode: While holding down the Mode button, press the Main button for 3 or more seconds until the remote indicator flashes once.

You can cycle through different information screens on the main unit’s display by pressing the `i` button on the remote controller several times. The display will show the following information in sequence:

1. Input source & volume (e.g., BD/DVD 40)

2. Listening mode (e.g., Dolby D)

3. Signal format (e.g., Dolby D 5.1)

4. Sampling frequency (e.g., fs: 48kHz)

5. Input signal resolution (e.g., 1080p/60 16:9)
