How should I position the speakers for a home theater setup with the INTEGRA DTR-4.9?
• Front left and right speakers: These output the main sound. Position them facing the listener at about ear level, equally spaced from the TV. Angle them inward slightly to form a triangle with the listener at the apex.
• Center speaker: This enhances dialogue and sound movements. Position it close to your TV (preferably on top), facing forward at about ear level or at the same height as the front speakers.
• Surround left and right speakers: These are used for precise sound positioning and ambiance. Position them at the sides of the listener, or slightly behind, about 2-3 feet (60-100 cm) above ear level. They should be equally spaced from the listener.
• Subwoofer: This handles the low-frequency effects (LFE). A good position is typically in a front corner or one-third of the way along the front wall. Experiment by placing it in various positions while playing music with good bass to find the most satisfying spot.
How do I connect speakers to the INTEGRA DTR-4.9?
Speaker Connection Precautions:
• You can connect speakers with an impedance between 6 and 16 ohms.
• Disconnect the power cord before making any connections.
• Pay close attention to speaker wiring polarity. Connect positive (+) terminals to positive (+) terminals, and negative (-) to negative (-). Incorrect wiring will result in out-of-phase, unnatural sound.
• Avoid unnecessarily long or very thin speaker cables.
• Be careful not to short the positive and negative wires.
• Do not connect more than one cable to each speaker terminal.
Connecting the Speaker Cables:
1. Strip about 5/8″ (15 mm) of insulation from the ends of the speaker cables and twist the bare wires tightly.
2. Unscrew the speaker terminal on the back of the receiver.
3. Fully insert the bare wire into the terminal.

Connect each speaker (Front Left, Front Right, Center, Surround Left, Surround Right) to its corresponding pair of terminals on the rear of the INTEGRA DTR-4.9.
How do I connect the antennas to the INTEGRA DTR-4.9?
Connecting the Indoor FM Antenna:
1. Attach the supplied indoor FM antenna by inserting the plug fully into the FM antenna jack (75Ω) on the rear panel.
2. Once the receiver is on, tune to an FM station and adjust the antenna’s position for the best reception. Use thumbtacks or similar to fix it in place.
Connecting the AM Loop Antenna:
1. Assemble the supplied AM loop antenna by inserting the tabs into the base.
2. Connect both wires of the AM loop antenna to the AM antenna push terminals. Push the terminal, insert the bare wire, and release. The wires are not polarity sensitive.
3. Once the receiver is on, tune to an AM station and adjust the antenna’s position for the best reception. Keep it away from the receiver, TV, and other cables.
If reception is poor with the supplied indoor antennas, consider using a commercially available outdoor antenna.

Which connections should I use for my components with the INTEGRA DTR-4.9?
The AV receiver supports several connection formats. Your choice depends on the formats supported by your other components.
Video Connection Formats: You can use composite video, S-Video, component video, or HDMI. HDMI offers the best picture quality. The INTEGRA DTR-4.9 does not convert between video formats, so the output format must match the input format. For example, a component connected via S-Video must be viewed on a TV connected via S-Video.
Audio Connection Formats: You can use analog (RCA), optical, coaxial, analog multichannel, or HDMI. When you connect a component to an HDMI, OPTICAL, or COAXIAL input, you must assign that input to an input selector in the setup menu. The AV receiver does not convert digital input signals for analog line outputs (like TAPE OUT) and vice versa.
