The HUSQVARNA SVARTPILEN 801 2024 allows the handlebar to be mounted in 2 different positions. To adjust it:

1. Remove screws (1) and take off the handlebar clamps (2). Remove the handlebar so that screws (3) are accessible. Cover components to protect them from damage and do not kink cables or lines.

2. Remove screws (3) and take off the handlebar supports (4).

3. Place the handlebar supports in the desired position. Mount and tighten screws (3). Ensure both left and right supports are in the same position.

– Guideline: Screw, handlebar support (M10x40) to 45 Nm (33.2 lbf ft) with Loctite® 243™.

4. Position the handlebar, ensuring cables and wiring are routed correctly.

5. Position the handlebar clamp. Mount screws (1) and tighten them evenly.

– Guideline: Screw, handlebar clamp (M8) to 20 Nm (14.8 lbf ft).

Adjusting the clutch lever:

1. Push the clutch lever forward.

2. Turn the adjusting screw by hand to adjust the distance between the clutch lever and the handlebar. Do not use force and do not make adjustments while riding.

Adjusting the hand brake lever:

1. Push the hand brake lever forward.

2. Turn the adjusting screw by hand to adjust the distance between the hand brake lever and the handlebar. Do not use force and do not make adjustments while riding.

Adjusting the foot brake lever:

1. Remove the two screws on the heel protector plate and take off the plate.

2. Detach the return spring.

3. Loosen the lock nut on the push rod.

4. Turn the push rod to set the basic height of the foot brake lever.

5. Loosen the lock nut (5) and turn the adjusting screw (6) to set the free travel to 3-5 mm (0.12-0.2 in).

6. Hold the adjusting screw (6) and tighten its lock nut (5) to 10 Nm (7.4 lbf ft).

7. Tighten the push rod lock nut (3) to 6 Nm (4.4 lbf ft).

8. Re-attach the spring and the heel protector plate.

Checking the basic position:

1. Sit on the vehicle in your normal riding position.

2. Measure the distance between the upper edge of your boot and the shift lever. The ideal distance is 10-20 mm (0.39-0.79 in). If it needs adjustment, follow the steps below.

Adjusting the basic position:

1. Loosen the top nut (1) while holding the threaded rod (2).

2. Loosen the bottom nut (3) while holding the threaded rod (2). Note: Nut (3) has a left-handed thread.

3. Turn the threaded rod (2) to adjust the lever’s height. Ensure the lever doesn’t contact other parts during its movement.

4. While holding the threaded rod, tighten the bottom nut (3) to 6 Nm (4.4 lbf ft).

5. While holding the threaded rod, tighten the top nut (1) to 6 Nm (4.4 lbf ft).

During the running-in period, do not exceed the specified engine speeds to ensure the long-term reliability of your HUSQVARNA SVARTPILEN 801 2024 engine.

Also, avoid fully opening the throttle during the running-in period.

4. Shift the transmission to neutral. The green idle indicator lamp “N” will light up.

5. Press the start button/emergency OFF switch to the lower (START) position to engage the starter motor. Do not open the throttle while starting.

This motorcycle has a safety starting system. You can only start the engine if the transmission is in neutral, OR if a gear is engaged and the clutch lever is pulled. If the side stand is folded out while in gear and you release the clutch lever, the engine will stop.

Adjusting Shock Absorber Spring Preload:

1. Use the hook wrench and extension from the tool set to turn the adjusting ring on the shock absorber.

2. There are 10 possible positions. The standard setting is 5 clicks.

Front Rider’s Seat

Removing:

1. Insert the ignition key in the seat lock on the left side and turn it clockwise.

2. Raise the rear of the seat, pull it back, and lift it off.

Mounting:

1. Push the seat forward and lower it at the rear, ensuring the loops on the seat engage the holding lugs on the fuel tank.

2. Position the locking pin in the lock housing and push down the rear of the seat until it clicks into place. Check that it is correctly mounted.

Passenger Seat

Removing:

1. Remove the front rider’s seat first.

2. Remove the two screws holding the passenger seat.

3. Pull the passenger seat back and lift it off.

Mounting:

1. Hook the holding lugs of the passenger seat onto the storage compartment, lower the rear, and push forward.

2. Mount and tighten the two screws to 5 Nm (3.7 lbf ft).

3. Reinstall the front rider’s seat.

Checking Chain Tension:

1. Raise the motorcycle with a rear lifting gear so the rear wheel can spin freely.

2. Shift the transmission to neutral.

3. At a point 2.5 cm (0.98 in) behind the chain sliding piece, push the upper section of the chain upwards.

4. Measure the chain tension (distance) between the swingarm and the upper edge of the chain. The correct tension is 2 to 5 mm (0.08 to 0.2 in).

5. Repeat this measurement at different points on the chain as wear may not be even.

Adjusting Chain Tension:

1. With the motorcycle raised, loosen the large rear axle nut (1).

2. Loosen the lock nuts (2) on both sides of the swingarm.

3. Turn the adjusting screws (3) on the left and right to set the chain tension. Turn them equally to keep the wheel aligned. Use the reference marks (A) and chain adjuster markings (4) to ensure alignment.

4. Once tension is correct, tighten the lock nuts (2).

5. Make sure the chain adjusters are fitted correctly and tighten the rear axle nut (1) to 90 Nm (66.4 lbf ft). The thread and contact area should be greased.

6. Re-check the chain tension.

1. Raise the motorcycle with a rear lifting gear.

2. Check the teeth on the rear and engine sprockets. If they are worn (hooked or pointed), the entire drivetrain kit (chain, front sprocket, rear sprocket) should be replaced.

3. To check for chain wear, shift to neutral and apply a weight of 15 kg (33 lb) to the lower chain section.

4. Measure the distance across 18 chain rollers in the lower, taut section of the chain.

5. If the maximum distance at the longest chain section exceeds 272 mm (10.71 in), the entire drivetrain kit must be replaced.

When replacing the chain, the sprockets should also be replaced as new chains wear out faster on old, worn sprockets.

Front Wheel Removal:

1. Raise the front of the motorcycle using a lifting gear.

2. Remove the wheel speed sensor.

3. Remove both brake calipers and hang them to the side. Do not operate the hand brake lever while they are removed.

4. Loosen the pinch bolts on the fork bottoms.

5. Unscrew and remove the front wheel spindle.

6. Hold the wheel and pull the spindle out. Remove the wheel from the fork, being careful not to damage the brake discs. Remove the spacers.

Front Wheel Installation:

1. Check wheel bearings for wear. Clean and grease the shaft seal rings and spacers.

2. Install spacers (wide on the left, narrow on the right).

3. Position the wheel in the fork and insert the wheel spindle. Tighten the spindle screw to 45 Nm (33.2 lbf ft).

4. Install both brake calipers and tighten the screws to 45 Nm (33.2 lbf ft) with Loctite® 243™. Operate the brake lever to set the pads.

5. Install the wheel speed sensor.

6. Compress the fork a few times to align the legs, then tighten the pinch bolts on the fork bottoms to 15 Nm (11.1 lbf ft).

Rear Wheel Removal:

1. Raise the rear of the motorcycle with a lifting gear.

2. Remove the wheel speed sensor.

3. Remove the rear axle nut and take off the chain adjuster.

4. Pull the wheel spindle out far enough to push the wheel forward and remove the chain from the sprocket.

5. Hold the rear wheel, remove the spindle, and take the wheel out of the swingarm.

Rear Wheel Installation:

1. Check wheel bearings and damping rubbers for wear. Clean and grease components.

2. Position the wheel, engage the brake caliper bracket, and insert the wheel spindle.

3. Place the chain on the sprocket.

4. Install the chain adjuster and axle nut, but do not tighten yet.

5. Adjust the chain tension and align the wheel.

6. Tighten the rear axle nut to 90 Nm (66.4 lbf ft).

7. Install the wheel speed sensor. Operate the foot brake lever to set the pads.

Correct tire pressure should be checked when the tires are cold. The recommended pressures for your HUSQVARNA SVARTPILEN 801 2024 are:

Removing the 12-V battery:

1. Remove the front rider’s seat.

2. Remove the screws for the seat lock bracket and hang it to the side.

3. Disconnect the negative cable (-) first.

Adjusting the Headlight Range:

2. Swivel the headlight up or down to adjust the range. Swiveling up increases the range; swiveling down reduces it.

3. Set the light-dark boundary to the lower mark on the wall.

4. Tighten the headlight adjusting screw to 6 Nm (4.4 lbf ft).

To maintain the cooling system, ensure the engine is cold to avoid scalding.

Checking Coolant Level:

1. Stand the motorcycle upright on a horizontal surface.

2. Check the coolant level in the compensating tank. The level must be between the MIN and MAX marks.

3. If the level is low, remove the cap of the compensating tank and add approved coolant.

4. Also check that the radiator itself is completely full by removing the main radiator cap.

Draining the Coolant:

1. Position a container under the engine.

2. Remove the radiator cap.

3. Remove the drain screw on the water pump to drain the coolant completely.

Filling/Bleeding the Coolant:

1. Reinstall the water pump drain screw with a new seal ring and tighten to 8 Nm (5.9 lbf ft) with Loctite® 243™.

2. Remove the bleeder screw on the radiator.

3. Tilt the vehicle slightly to the right and slowly pour in coolant (approx. 1.6 l / 1.7 qt.) until it emerges from the vent hole without bubbles.

4. Mount and tighten the bleeder screw.

5. Completely fill the radiator and mount the radiator cap.

6. Fill the compensating tank to the correct level.

7. Start the engine and let it warm up. Stop the engine and let it cool down. Re-check the coolant level in the radiator and compensating tank and add more if needed.

Perform this work when the engine is at operating temperature, but be careful as the oil will be hot.

1. Rest the motorcycle on its side stand on a level surface.

2. Position a container under the engine. Remove the oil filler plug.

3. Remove the two oil drain plugs, along with their magnets and O-rings, to drain the oil.

4. Remove the screws from the oil filter cover and take off the cover.

5. Pull the oil filter out of the housing using lock ring pliers.

6. Allow the oil to drain completely. Thoroughly clean all parts, including the magnets on the drain plugs and the oil screens.

7. Install a new oil filter by hand.

8. Oil the O-ring on the filter cover, position the cover, and tighten the screws to 6 Nm (4.4 lbf ft).

9. Install the oil drain plugs with new seal rings and tighten to 20 Nm (14.8 lbf ft).

10. Fill the engine with 2.9 l (3.1 qt.) of specified engine oil (SAE 10W/50).

11. Install the oil filler plug. Start the engine briefly and check for leaks.

12. Check the engine oil level and correct if necessary.

To clean your HUSQVARNA SVARTPILEN 801 2024:
