Before using your HAIER BD-100H, please observe the following important safety warnings:

• This appliance is designed for domestic use only. If used for professional or commercial purposes, the relevant trade standards must be observed.

• When disposing of an old appliance that this freezer is replacing, ensure you destroy any existing latch or bolt-locks to prevent children from trapping themselves inside.

• The old appliance should be disposed of ecologically by a specialized company, as it may contain harmful components in the coolant.

• Ensure the power plug is easily accessible after installation.

• If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced with an approved cable by a manufacturer or a service agent.

• WARNING: Keep all ventilation openings, both in the appliance enclosure and in any built-in structure, clear of obstruction.

• WARNING: Do not use mechanical devices or other methods to accelerate the defrosting process, other than those recommended by the manufacturer.

• WARNING: Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.

• WARNING: Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartment of the freezer, unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer.

For proper installation of your HAIER BD-100H, follow these guidelines:

1. Choose the right position: Place the appliance in a cool, well-aired, dry room. Strictly avoid high ambient temperatures and direct sunlight. Do not install it near a heat source like a heater or oven.

2. Maintain minimum distances: If installation near a heat source is unavoidable, use a suitable insulation plate and observe these minimum distances:
– From a gas or electric cooker: 3 cm
– From a radiator or oven: 5 cm
– From a wall or another piece of furniture: 2 cm

3. Ensure proper ventilation: If your model has a ventilation grille, do not obstruct it. For models without a grille, leave sufficient space between the rear of the appliance and the wall for warm air to escape.

4. Level the appliance: The freezer must be placed horizontally on a level base to ensure the refrigerant circuit functions correctly.

5. Wait before switching on: IMPORTANT! After placing the freezer in its final position, leave it to stand for at least 2 hours before switching it on. This allows the refrigerant circuit to stabilize and prevents operating problems.

6. Clean the interior: Before first use, thoroughly clean the interior with a mixture of lukewarm water and vinegar to remove any new-appliance odors. Do not use washing liquids or cleaning products containing soda. Ensure the interior is completely dry before connecting to power.

Your HAIER BD-100H must be connected to a power socket with a grounded connection that conforms to respective standards and has been installed by an authorized specialist. Before plugging in the appliance, make sure that the voltage (V) on the appliance’s rating plate corresponds with your mains voltage. If the voltage differs, do not connect the appliance and contact your after-sales service or dealer immediately.

The temperature control (thermostat) on your HAIER BD-100H switches the appliance on and off and sets the cooling temperature. The control is intentionally resistant to turning to prevent accidental changes; use a coin or screwdriver to adjust it.

• The compressor stops when the control is in the “0” or “OFF” position.

• The temperature is factory preset for satisfactory food storage. However, you can adjust it between:

• Min. / minimum number: For slight cooling.

• Max. / maximum number: For the lowest temperature.

Temperature settings should be based on the ambient temperature, the quantity of food stored, and how frequently the freezer is opened. A medium setting is recommended to start with.

The indicator lights on your HAIER BD-100H provide important information about its status:

• GREEN (CONTROL): This light indicates that the appliance is connected to power and is operating. The green light must always be on when the freezer is running.

• RED (ALARM): This light indicates that the interior temperature is too high. It is normal for the red light to come on during the first start-up, after defrosting, or when filling the freezer with fresh food. It should go off automatically when the temperature reaches approximately -15°C. If the red light stays on for more than 12 to 24 hours, there may be a serious problem.

• YELLOW (SUPER FREEZE): This light indicates that the SUPER FREEZE switch is on. When active, the thermostat function is disabled, and the compressor cools continuously. This function should be turned off when no longer needed.

If your model is equipped with a warning buzzer, it will sound when the red light is on. The buzzer is silenced automatically when you turn on the SUPER FREEZER switch.

Follow these steps to correctly start up your HAIER BD-100H for the first time:

1. Fully unpack the appliance.

2. Remove any polystyrene parts from the compressor chamber (if supplied).

3. Remove all documents and accessories from inside the freezer.

4. Clean the interior with a mixture of lukewarm water and vinegar, then dry it thoroughly with a cloth.

5. Close the freezer lid.

6. Insert the plug into the socket.

7. Switch on the appliance by turning the temperature control to the right, to the ‘Max’ position for now. The green and red lights will turn on.

8. If equipped with a SUPER FREEZE switch, turn it on. The yellow light will also turn on.

9. Do not open the appliance for about 4 hours, or until the red light has turned off. This allows the internal temperature to drop to the necessary level.

10. You can now fill the freezer with pre-frozen food.

11. Turn off the SUPER FREEZE switch after 24 hours at the latest.

12. If you wish to freeze fresh food, proceed to the instructions for “Freezing/storage of fresh food”.

To freeze fresh food in your HAIER BD-100H, follow these steps:

1. Package and Label: Pack fresh products in household-sized portions. Label the packages clearly with the product name, weight, quantity, freezing date, and use-by date.

2. Activate Super Freeze: If available, switch on the SUPER FREEZE switch (yellow light). This is not necessary if you are only adding already frozen items.

3. Place Food: Place the fresh food in the pre-freezing compartment or on the bottom of the freezer, which is the coldest part. Avoid direct contact with already frozen food to prevent it from defrosting. Do not exceed the freezing capacity indicated on the rating plate (XX kg/24h).

4. Wait 24 Hours: After 24 hours, you can move the newly frozen food from the bottom or pre-freeze shelf into a hanging basket to make space for more fresh food.

5. Deactivate Super Freeze: Turn off the SUPER FREEZE switch (the yellow light will go off).

6. Set Temperature: Adjust the temperature control to a setting appropriate for the amount of food stored.

7. Monitor Temperature: Ensure the storage temperature remains at or below -18°C. You can check this by placing a thermometer inside.

Defrost your HAIER BD-100H once or twice a year, or when the ice layer becomes too thick. Never use electrical appliances like hair dryers or devices with a naked flame to defrost.

1. Gather supplies: a non-metallic container (e.g., plastic basin), newspaper, and a thick blanket.

2. Make absolutely sure that you remove the plug from the power socket.

3. Dry your hands thoroughly to prevent skin damage from contact with ice (use gloves if possible).

4. Remove all frozen food, wrap it firmly in newspaper, place it in the container, and cover the container with a thick blanket. Store it in a cool, dry room.

5. Lift the divider (H) upwards out of its guide rail (if equipped).

6. If your model has a drain plug, use the divider as a defrosting dish by pushing it under the freezer where the drain plug is located.

7. Pull the drain plug out of the freezer bottom (if provided).

8. Carefully scrape the thickest ice from the inside walls with a plastic or wooden scraper and place it in a sink to melt.

9. To speed up defrosting, you can place a large pot of warm (not hot) water on the freezer bottom.

10. For models without a drain plug, continuously wipe up the melting water with a sponge.

11. Thoroughly clean the interior compartment. Rinse with a mixture of warm water and vinegar, then rinse with clear water.

12. Wipe the freezer completely dry with an absorbent cloth and allow it to air out for 3-4 minutes.

13. Replace the drain plug (if provided).

14. Empty the defrosting water dish and slide it back in as a divider.

15. Close the lid and plug the freezer back into the socket.

16. Set the temperature control to the maximum setting. The green and red lamps will turn on. Switch on the SUPER FREEZE switch (if provided); the yellow lamp will also light up.

17. Now refill the frozen food, placing the oldest items on top. This entire process (steps 1-17) should be completed within two hours to prevent food from defrosting.

18. When the red lamp goes off, reset the temperature control to a suitable setting for the filling capacity.

19. Switch off the SUPER FREEZER switch after about 8 to 12 hours, or at the latest after 24 hours.

If your HAIER BD-100H is not running (no function), check the following:

• Check the plug and socket: Is the plug in good condition and properly plugged into the socket?

• Check for power: Is the socket receiving power? You can test this by plugging in a small appliance you know works, such as a hand-mixer.

In the event of a power failure, the insulation of the freezer walls provides 10 to 12 hours of storage time for the frozen food. If the problem will take longer to fix, you should take prompt action and, if necessary, move the frozen food to another freezer to prevent it from defrosting.

If your HAIER BD-100H is not cooling sufficiently, the freezing process is too long, or the compressor is operating too often, consider these possible causes and remedies:

• Stabilization time: Did the appliance stand for at least 2 hours before you switched it on for the first time? If not, unplug it, wait a moment, and plug it back in. Do not open the chest for at least 12 hours to allow it to cool properly.

• Lid Seal: The lid of the appliance may not be closing properly. Test the seal by placing a piece of paper between the seal and the chest edge and closing the lid. It should be difficult to pull the paper out from any side. If the paper pulls out easily, you should contact your after-sales service center.

• Ice Build-up: Heavy ice formation on the inner walls can act as insulation and reduce cooling efficiency. Defrost the appliance.

• Heat Source: Is the freezer exposed to direct sunlight or installed near a heat source (oven, radiator)? Protect it from direct sun and ensure it is a sufficient distance from heat sources.

• Overfilling: Did you fill the freezer with a quantity of warm food that exceeds its freezing capacity (found on the rating plate)? Avoid overloading the freezer with warm food.

The following table provides approximate storage times for various foods when frozen in your HAIER BD-100H. For purchased frozen foods, always follow the producer’s instructions on the packaging.
