The feeding direction is opposite for the High Capacity Feeder and Paper Tray 5 (Bypass).

1. Telephone line connectors: Use “TEL” for a telephone or handset and “LINE 1” for calls using a handset connected to the TEL jack.

2. Upper Left Cover: Open to clear paper jams.

3. Lower Left Cover: Open to clear paper jams.

4. Right Rear Cover: Open to access connectors.

5. Reset button: Automatically switches the machine off if a current leakage is detected.

6. Network Port (optional): Connects to a network cable.

7. USB 2.0 interface connector: Connects to a memory card reader, optional component, or a peripheral with a USB cable.

8. USB 3.0 interface connector: Connects to a USB cable for printing.

9. Network Port: Connects to a network cable.

10. Wireless Network Kit (optional): Used for connecting to a wireless network (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth).

• LAN connection: Keep the machine power switched off when connecting to the network port. If a connection failure occurs, it may be improved by setting [Disabled] in [Energy Efficient Ethernet] in the System Administrator mode.

• USB connection: Keep the machine power switched off when connecting to a USB connector.

1. Toner Cartridge: Contains Black (K) toner.

2. Waste Toner Container (R5): Collects waste toner.

3. Conveyance Box: Remove this box when replacing a Drum Cartridge.

4. Fusing Unit (R8): Fuses toner onto paper. Do not touch this unit as it is extremely hot.

1. Built-in IC Card Reader (optional): Used to authenticate a user with an IC card.

2. Power / Power Saving Button: Switches the power on. When “Please wait…” is displayed, the machine is warming up. If power does not switch on, check that the Reset button is pushed in and the power plug is connected.

3. Home Button: Pressing this displays the Home screen and resets the settings of all active applications.

4. Touch Panel Display: Displays messages and buttons for operation. An antibacterial protection film is used on the display.

5. Status Display Indicator: Lights up green when an operation is received. It blinks in orange when an error occurs.

6. Data Indicator: Blinks when data is being sent or received. It lights up when documents are saved in the machine or a fax is stored in a local folder.

7. NFC touch area: Hold your NFC-supported mobile device here for interactive communication. The NFC function on the machine must be enabled.

8. USB memory slot (optional): Insert a USB memory device directly here. A memory card reader or USB device connected via cable to the rear USB port will not be recognized if a device is already in this slot.

9. One-touch buttons (optional): Allows you to specify a recipient for Fax, Internet fax, Email, and Scan (PC) with a single button press.

Guaranteed Print Area (mm)

This is the area where image quality is guaranteed.

Image Loss Width (mm)

This is the unprintable area along the edges of the paper.

* For paper larger than 309 mm wide, the left/right edge loss is (Paper size – 305) ÷ 2.

Standard Printable Area

Changing the printable area settings allows you to print over the standard 4.1 mm margin.

Extended Printable Area (Printing):

• Area excluding an image loss area along all four edges of the paper.

• Max: 305 x 476.6 mm; When using long paper, Max: 305 x 1,194 mm.

To change the settings:

1. Login to the System Administrator Mode.

2. Tap the tools icon > [Settings] > [App Settings] > [Print Settings] > [Other Settings] > [Print Area] > [Extended].

You can also change these settings from [Tray / Output] > [Edge Erase / Print Position] > [Margins] of the ART EX printer driver.

Recommended Standard Paper

Recommended Recycled Paper

To use paper other than the above, contact your local representative.

To prevent machine malfunction, avoid using the following types of paper:

• Paper using ink that deteriorates with fusing heat

• Inkjet printer paper

• Business card size paper

• Wrinkled or folded paper

• Damp paper, or damp and wavy paper

• Paper with 12 mm or greater curl

• Thermal paper, heat-transfer paper

• Envelopes with windows

There are more types of unusable paper. For details, contact your local representative.

Follow these guidelines for storing paper:

• Store paper in a place of low humidity to avoid paper jams and poor image quality.

• Storing paper in an environment below 16°C may cause fusing failures.

• Coated paper stored in high-temperature, high-humidity environments may cause misfeeding.

• After opening a package, seal the remaining paper in a moisture-proof wrapper or reclosable bag.

• Store paper flat to prevent bending or warping. Do not store it upright.

• Do not store paper in direct sunlight.

Follow these guidelines when handling paper:

• Do not use collected pieces of paper.

• Do not use wrinkled or folded paper.

• Do not load different sizes or types of paper in the same tray.

• Before loading, fan the stack of paper well to prevent jams and double-feeding, especially with transparencies, films, and coated paper.

The paper feeding method is the same for Paper Trays 1 through 4. The top face of the loaded paper is the surface that will be printed on.

Loadable Paper in Standard Trays

Steps to Load Paper:

1. Pull out the Paper Tray until it stops.

2. If paper is already loaded, take it out.

3. For paper sized JIS B4 or larger, pinch the knob, lift the paper rear end guide, and set it into the hole for the indicated size.

4. Pinch the two Guide Clips and adjust them to the correct paper size.

5. Fan a stack of paper, face the print surface up, and load it with the edges aligned as indicated by the arrow in the tray. Do not load paper above the maximum fill line.

6. Push the Paper Tray back in completely.

After loading paper, configure the Paper Tray settings on the Home screen.

• Hole punched paper: Load with the holes facing the left side when viewed from the front of the machine.

• Postcards: Load with SEF (Short Edge Feed) orientation.

• Envelopes (Tray 1 only):

– Flaps open: Load with flaps on the right side when viewed from the front.

– Flaps closed: Load with flaps on the left side when viewed from the front. Load envelopes with glue or seal with the flap closed.

Paper Size (mm): Width 90 to 241, Length 98 to 372.

This method is for Paper Trays 1 and 2.

Loadable Envelopes and Postcards

Steps:

1. Pull out Paper Tray 1 until it stops.

2. Slightly lift the front side of Paper Tray 1 and remove it completely.

3. Push in the Envelope Tray.

4. Login to the System Administrator Mode on the control panel.

5. Enable the setting by navigating to the tools icon > [Settings] > [System Settings] > [Other Settings] > [Use Envelope Feeder].

The bottom face of loaded paper is the surface that will be printed on.

Loadable Paper in Bypass Tray

Steps to Load Standard Paper:

1. Open the Paper Tray.

2. Fan a stack of paper, face the print surface down, and insert it gently along the Paper Guide until it stops. Do not exceed the maximum fill line.

3. Slide the Paper Guide to the correct paper size.

Steps to Load Long Paper (one sheet at a time):

1. Open the Paper Tray.

2. Extend the Paper Guide to the maximum.

3. Install the optional Long Paper Inserter.

4. Open the Paper Tray extension on the inserter.

5. Face the print surface down, and insert the paper gently under the Paper Tray until it stops.

6. Insert the trail edge of the paper into the Paper Tray.

7. Adjust the Paper Guide to the correct paper size.

Note: When printing long paper, remove each output sheet one by one to prevent jams. Remove the Long Paper Inserter when you are finished printing.

• Hole punched paper: Load paper with holes facing the right side when viewed from the front of the machine.

• Postcards: Load with SEF (Short Edge Feed) orientation.

• Envelopes:

– Flaps open: Load with flaps on the left side when viewed from the front.

– Flaps closed: Load with flaps on the right side when viewed from the front.

Loadable Paper in Document Feeder

Steps to Load Documents:

1. Open the Document Cover.

2. Wipe any dirt from the glass strip and white plastic area on the left side of the Document Glass.

3. Close the Document Cover.

4. Ensure the document is free of staples, clips, and tape. Smooth out any wrinkles or folds.

5. Align the upper left corner of the document for correct size detection.

6. Load the document face up in the center of the Document Feeder. For 2-sided documents, place the front side up. Do not exceed the maximum fill line.

7. When the confirmation indicator lights up, move the document guide to align with both edges of the document.

8. Open the Document Stopper to catch the scanned document.

Loadable Paper on Document Glass

Steps:

1. Open the Document Cover and wipe any dirt from the Document Glass.

2. Load the document face down, aligned with the upper left corner of the Document Glass.

3. Close the Document Cover.

• Print Surface: For most trays, the output is face-down. For the Side Tray, the output is face-up.

Output Paper Specifications

Long Paper: Long paper cannot be used for double-sided printing. The maximum output length is 1,219 mm. It may not output to the Center Tray depending on the installed finisher.

Note: Tray capacity can vary based on paper size, weight, type, and image density. The output operation stops when the Center Tray becomes full.

The machine can output paper with offset stacking for easy separation of print jobs. Use the printer driver to set the offset of outputs. Offset is an optional feature for the Extra Center Tray and is not available for the Side Tray.

Offset Stacking Specifications

• Center Tray Attention Light: This light blinks after a print job starts and lights up solid when printing is finished, allowing you to check progress from a distance. It remains lit if ejected paper is still on the Center Tray or Side Tray. The light may not function depending on the output tray or finishing method, and it does not turn on in Power Saver Mode.

• Duplex Automatic Document Feeder Attention Light: This light turns ON when a document is being read to notify you of the document’s position. It does not turn ON if a document is jammed or a job is canceled.

1. Login to the System Administrator Mode.

2. To disable the Center Tray light, tap the tools icon > [Settings] > [System Settings] > [Other Settings] > [Center Tray Attention Light] > [Disabled].

3. To disable the Document Feeder light, tap the tools icon > [Settings] > [System Settings] > [Other Settings] > [Document Feeder Attention Light] > [Disabled].

The lighting duration is tied to the Power Saver timer settings.

1. Login to the System Administrator Mode.

2. Tap the tools icon > [Settings] > [System Settings] > [Power Saver Settings] > [Power Saver Timers].

3. Input the desired time (in minutes) for [Low Power Mode] and [Sleep Mode], then tap [OK].

Consumable Types:

• Toner Cartridge

• Drum Cartridge

• Waste Toner Container

Handling Consumables:

• Do not store consumable boxes upright.

• Do not unpack consumables until you are ready to use them. Avoid storing them in high-temperature/humid locations, near heat, in direct sunlight, or in dusty areas.

• Carefully read the precautions on the consumable packaging before use.

• It is recommended to keep spare consumables in stock.

To check consumable status:

Tap the tools icon > [Device Status] > [Supplies].

Replacing Consumables:

When a consumable reaches its end of life, a message will appear on the Touch Panel Display. Follow the replacement steps provided on the box of the consumable.

Important Notes:

• Keep the machine power ON when replacing Toner Cartridges.

• Lay paper down before replacing a Toner Cartridge or Waste Toner Container to catch any spilled toner.

• Do not remove or shake the Waste Toner Container before it is full, as this can cause spillage and inaccurate detection.

• Avoid exposing the Drum Cartridge to direct sunlight or intense fluorescent light, and do not touch or scratch the drum surface.

• Exterior: Wipe with a soft, moistened, and tightly-squeezed cloth. For stubborn stains, use the cloth slightly moistened with a thin neutral detergent solution. Wipe off any remaining moisture with a dry soft cloth. Do not use chemicals like benzine or thinner.

• Touch Panel Display: Wipe lightly with a dry soft cloth. If using a wet cloth, ensure it is soft, moistened, and tightly-squeezed. Wiping the panel with strong pressure may cause damage.

Clean the LED printheads when you replace the Waste Toner Container or Drum Cartridge to prevent print quality issues.

1. Confirm the machine is not operating, and open the Front Cover.

2. Turn the handle counterclockwise.

3. Hold the tab at either end of the Conveyance Box and remove it. Place the box upright on a flat surface.

4. Slide the cleaning bar out from the back of the Front Cover.

5. With the arrow on the cleaning bar facing up, insert it into the slot until it stops, then pull it out slowly. Repeat this two to three times for each LED printhead.

6. Return the cleaning bar to its original position in the Front Cover.

7. Return the Conveyance Box back to its original state.

• Document cover, Document Glass, film, and scanner glass: Wipe off any dirt with the supplied cloth about once a month. For stubborn stains, wipe lightly with a soft cloth slightly moistened with a thin neutral detergent solution.

• Document Feeder rollers: Clean about once a month.

1. Pull up the front handle of the Top Cover of the Document Feeder and open the cover until it stops.

2. While turning the rollers by hand, wipe them with a soft cloth slightly moistened with water.

3. Close the Top Cover of the Document Feeder, ensuring there is no gap on the front or rear of the cover.

If paper is jammed, the machine stops and an alarm sounds. Follow the instructions on the screen to remove the jammed paper. Gently remove the paper, being careful not to tear it. If it does tear, ensure all pieces are removed from inside the machine. Printing or copying will resume from the state before the jam occurred.

Important Notes:

• Before pulling out a paper tray, check the jam location on the screen.

• Clear paper jams while the machine is powered on.

• Do not touch internal components, as this may cause print defects.

• Side Tray: Simply remove the jammed paper from the tray.

• Inside Upper Left Cover:

Warning: The Fusing Unit is hot and may cause burns. Do not touch it.

Important: Do not touch the black film-like transfer belt inside the cover.

1. If a Side Tray is installed, remove any paper from it and close it. If a High Capacity Feeder is installed, hold the handle and move the unit fully to the left.

2. While lifting up the Release Handle, open the Upper Left Cover.

3. To clear a jam in the Fusing Unit, pull the handle [A1], remove the jammed paper, and return the handle to its original position. If the paper is protruding toward the top output tray, pull it downward to remove.

4. To clear a jam in the Center Tray Exit, pull the handle [A2], remove the jammed paper while holding the handle, and then return the handle to its original position.

5. To clear a jam in the Duplex Unit, remove any visible paper, then pull the handle [A3], remove the remaining paper while holding the handle, and return the handle to its original position.

6. Close the Upper Left Cover.

1. If a High Capacity Feeder is installed, hold its handle and fully move the unit to the left.

2. Open the Lower Left Cover.

3. Remove the jammed paper.

4. Close the Lower Left Cover.

• Standard Trays (1-4):

1. Pull out the paper tray where the jam occurred until it stops.

2. Remove the jammed paper.

3. Push the paper tray back in.

• Paper Tray 5 (Bypass):

1. Remove the jammed paper from the tray.

1. Remove all documents from the Document Tray.

2. Pull up the front handle of the cover and open it until it stops.

3. Remove the jammed document.

4. Close the cover.

5. If you cannot find the document, open the Document Cover, grip the handle to open the Side 2 scanner, and remove the document.

6. Close the Side 2 scanner, then close the Document Cover.

7. Lift the Document Feeder Tray and remove the document from underneath.

8. Put the Document Feeder Tray back into position.
