The four-wheel drive lock increases four-wheel drive performance by preventing the front and rear axles from disconnecting. You can activate and deactivate the four-wheel drive lock on the fly. It also engages based on certain selected drive modes. The four-wheel drive lock feature provides an indicator light in the information display when in use. While the feature is in standby mode, the light will display gray. While the feature is active, the light will become colored.
How do I use Trail Control?
To use trail control, your speeds must be under:
- 20 mph (32 km/h) in all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive lock.
- 5 mph (8 km/h) in reverse ®. Press the trail control button to switch the feature on and off. The system switches off if you exceed 42 mph (68 km/h). To set and adjust speed, use the SET+ and SET— buttons on the steering wheel. You can also adjust the set speed by braking. Pressing the brake pedal does not turn the system off.
How does the Tire Pressure Monitoring System work?
The tire pressure monitoring system allows you to view the tire pressure readings through the information display. When one or more of your tires are under-inflated, your vehicle turns on the low tire pressure warning light in the instrument cluster. If this happens, stop and check your tires as soon as possible and inflate them to the proper pressure.
What are the recommendations for using the front recovery hooks?
Your vehicle comes equipped with fixed front recovery hooks. These hooks should never have a load applied to them greater than the gross vehicle weight rating of your vehicle. When recovering your vehicle, it is recommended to use both front hooks.
How does the four-wheel drive system work?
This system has the ability to anticipate wheel slip and transfer torque to the front wheels before slip occurs. The system automatically turns on every time you switch the ignition on. A graphic is shown in the information display to advise you of the power distribution between the front and rear wheels. When driving at slow speeds under high-load conditions, use a low gear when possible. Depending on your vehicle, you can select a low gear through the gear shifter or by using the paddle shifters.
How does the rear differential lock work?
The Rear Differential Lock is for off-road use only and is not for use on dry pavement. The rear differential lock provides additional traction should your vehicle become stuck. You can activate and deactivate the rear differential lock on the fly within the operating speed range. The rear differential lock automatically disengages when the vehicle speed exceeds a set value and it re-engages when the vehicle speed goes below a set value. The rear differential lock feature provides an indicator light in the information display when in use. While the feature is in standby mode, the light will display gray. While the feature is active, the light will become colored.
How does the 180 Degree Camera work?
The system allows you to see what is directly in front of or behind your vehicle, provides cross-traffic view in front of your vehicle, and provides visibility during parking maneuvers. The camera button is on the audio unit. Press the camera button to toggle between different views:
- Normal Rear View: Provides an image of what is directly behind your vehicle when your vehicle is in reverse ®.
- Expanded Rear View: Provides an expanded 180-degree image of what is directly behind your vehicle when your vehicle is in reverse ®.
- Normal Front View: Provides an image of what is directly in front of your vehicle when your vehicle is in park (P), neutral (N), or drive (D).
- Expanded Front View: Provides an expanded 180-degree image of what is directly in front of your vehicle when your vehicle is in park (P), neutral (N), or drive (D). The front view camera switches off if your vehicle speed exceeds 6 mph (10 km/h). The front camera system switches on when you are in mud/ruts, rock crawl or sand mode and your speed is less than 15 mph (24 km/h). If you exceed 15 mph (24 km/h), the camera shuts off until your vehicle speed is below 13 mph (21 km/h).
How does Drive Mode Control work?
The G.O.A.T. Drive Mode Control optimizes steering, handling and powertrain response. Changing the drive mode automatically changes the functionality of the electronically power-assisted steering system, the electronic stability control and traction control and the driveline settings. When using the drive modes, the electronic throttle control enhances the powertrain response and the engine sound changes based on each mode. The system automatically tailors your vehicle configuration for each mode you select on the console-mounted controller. Available modes may include: * Normal – For everyday driving. * Slippery – For use during inclement weather conditions. * Eco – For efficient driving. * Sport – For sporty driving with improved performance handling and response. * Sand – For off-road driving on soft, dry sand. * Rock Crawl* – For optimum rock-climbing ability. * Mud/Ruts* – For traversing muddy, rutted or uneven terrains. Mode changes are not available when the ignition is off. Your vehicle may only be equipped with some of the drive modes listed above.

With SelectShift automatic transmission, you can change gears using the paddle shifters. Pull any paddle to switch the feature on while in drive (D) or manual (M). To change gears:
- Push the toggle switch (+) to upshift.
- Push the toggle switch (–) to downshift.
How do I use the rear under seat storage?
Push the latch and lift the seat cushion to access the storage compartment.

The luggage compartment load floor can be adjusted to lay flat or angled.

Press the button on the left-hand side of the cargo area to switch the rear floodlamp on and off. The rear floodlamp turns off approximately 30 minutes after you switch it on. You can rotate the rear floodlamps to direct light closer or further away from the rear of the vehicle. The rear floodlamps will shut off after 45 minutes. After they have shut off twice you need to restart your vehicle to switch them back on.
How do I adjust the luggage compartment divider?
You can place the divider in a variety of positions to accommodate your adventure:
- Full Shelf Position: Slide the luggage compartment divider onto the tracks on each side of the vehicle. Align the triangles on the divider with the triangles on the tracks and turn the latches to lock into place.
- Folded Shelf Position: With the luggage compartment divider locked in the full shelf position, you can fold the luggage compartment divider in half. This is the recommended position to drive when the shelf is empty to avoid noise.
- Table Position: Slide the luggage compartment divider to the first locking position. Align the triangles on the divider with the triangles on the tracks and turn the latches to lock into place. Pull the table legs down and lock into place on the bumper.
- Divider Position: Fold the divider and insert it into the forward or rearward slots.
- Storage Position: Store the luggage compartment divider behind the rear seat.

Adjust the wiper lever and its controls to operate the front wipers:
- Single wipe: Pull the lever down.
- Intermittent wipe: Raise the lever upward to first position and then rotate the control:
- Upward for short wipe intervals.
- Downward for long wipe intervals.
- Normal wipe: Raise the lever upward to the second position.
- High-speed wipe: Raise the lever to the third position, its highest position.
How do the front and rear camera washers work?
When you switch on the windshield or rear washer, the corresponding camera washer also turns on.
How does the dual automatic temperature control work?
You and your front passenger can press independent controls to adjust the air temperature on each side of the vehicle. To return to one temperature, press the DUAL button. The passenger setting then switches to the driver-set temperature.
How do I fold the rear seats?
With the seat empty, push the button on the top of the seat to fold the seat backrest forward. Fold the outermost head restraints and pull the center head restraint up to the first locked position. To unfold the seat backrest, pull the seat backrest up to unfold it.
How does the moonroof work?
The moonroof controls are on the overhead console and have a one-touch open and close feature. To stop its movement during one-touch operation, press the control a second time.
- Press and release the rear of the control to open the moonroof.
- Press and release the front of the control to close the moonroof.
- When the glass is closed, press and release to vent the moonroof.
- Press and release the rear of the control to open the sunscreen. The sunscreen automatically opens with the moonroof.
- Press and release the front of the control to close the sunscreen.
How do speed-dependent wipers work?
When your vehicle speed increases, the interval between wipes decreases.
How do I operate the rear window wiper and washer?
To operate the wiper, press the rocker switch on the end of the lever to change between off, intermittent and low speed. Depending on your vehicle, when you switch on the front wipers and move the gearshift lever to reverse ®, the rear intermittent wiper may turn on. To use the rear washer, push the wiper lever away from you. When you release the lever, the rear wiper operates for a short time.
How do I operate the liftgate and liftgate window?
On your remote entry transmitter, press twice within a few seconds to open or close your liftgate. To open using the outside control button, unlock the liftgate with the remote control. Press A to open the glass. Press the liftgate release button B to open the liftgate. A handle is located inside the liftgate to help with closing.
How does the Pre-Collision Assist work?
If your vehicle is rapidly approaching a stationary vehicle, a vehicle traveling in the same direction as yours or a pedestrian within your driving path, the system is designed to provide three levels of functionality: * Alert: When active, a flashing visual warning displays and an audible warning tone sounds. * Brake Support: Assists the driver in reducing collision speed by preparing the brake system for rapid braking. Brake support does not automatically apply the brakes, but if the brake pedal is pressed even lightly by the driver, brake support could add additional braking up to full force. * Active Braking: Active braking may activate if the system determines that a collision is imminent. The system may help the driver reduce impact.
How does the Rear Parking Aid work?
The rear sensors are only active when the transmission is in reverse ®. As your vehicle moves closer to the obstacle, the rate of the audible warning increases. When the obstacle is less than 12 inches (30 centimeters) away, the warning sounds continuously. If the system detects a stationary or receding object farther than 12 inches (30 centimeters) from the corners of the bumper, the tone sounds for only three seconds. Once the system detects an object approaching, the warning sounds again. The coverage area is up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) from the rear bumper. There may be a decreased coverage area at the outer corners of the bumper.
How does Speed Sign Recognition work?
Speed sign recognition detects speed limit signs to inform you of the current speed limit. When the system detects a speed limit sign, the speed limit appears in the information display. To switch the feature on and off, use the touchscreen to select Settings, then Driver Assistance, then Speed Sign Recognition. From this screen you can also adjust the tolerance of the speed warning.
How does BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) and Cross Traffic Alert work?
BLIS helps you determine if a vehicle may be in your blind spot zone. Cross traffic alert warns you of vehicles approaching from the sides when the transmission is in reverse ®. Both systems turn on an indicator light in the exterior mirror on the side of the vehicle from which the approaching vehicle is coming. Cross traffic alert also sounds tones and displays messages to warn you from which direction vehicles are approaching.
How does Wireless Charging work?
This feature supports QI wireless charging-compatible devices. You can only charge one device at a time on the charging area. You can charge a device if the vehicle is on, in accessory mode or if SYNC is on. To begin charging your device, place the device in the center of the charging surface with the charging side down. The charging stops after your device reaches a full charge.
How does MyKey™ work?
MyKey allows you to program certain driving restrictions in order to promote good driving habits. You can program things such as speed restrictions and limited volume levels.
How does the Driver Alert system work?
The system automatically monitors your driving behavior using various inputs, including the front camera sensor. If the system detects that driver alertness is below a certain threshold, the system alerts you using a tone and a message in the information display. The warning system is in two stages. At first, the system issues a temporary warning that you need to take a rest. This message will only appear for a short time. If the system detects further reduced driver alertness, the system issues another warning that remains in the information display for a longer time. Press OK on the steering wheel to clear the warning. You may switch the system on or off through the information display.
How should I use the roof rack?
You must place loads directly on crossbars affixed to the roof rack side rails for the roof rack to correctly function. Make sure you never place loads directly on the roof panel. The roof panel is not designed to directly carry a load. When using the roof rack system, it is recommended to use Ford Genuine Accessory crossbars designed specifically for your vehicle. Make sure that you securely fasten the load. Check the tightness of the load before driving and at each fuel stop.
How does the Rear View Camera work?
The rear view camera system provides a video image of the area behind the vehicle. The image appears when the transmission is in reverse ® and uses a variety of guidelines to alert you of your proximity to objects. If your vehicle is equipped with the obstacle distance indicator, the system provides an image of your vehicle and the red, yellow and green sensor zones. Switching on the rear washer also turns on the rear camera washer.
How do I use the Electric Parking Brake?
The electric parking brake switch replaces the conventional hand brake. The switch is on the center console or to the left-hand side of the steering wheel, on the lower part of the instrument panel. To apply the electric parking brake, pull the switch up. The brake system warning lamp flashes, then illuminates, to confirm that you applied the parking brake. To release the electric parking brake manually, switch the ignition on, press the brake pedal and then press the switch down. The brake system warning lamp turns off. Your vehicle automatically releases the parking brake when the driver door is closed, the accelerator pedal is pressed and no faults are detected in the parking brake system. If the electric parking brake warning lamp stays on, then the electric parking brake did not automatically release. You must release the electric parking brake using the switch.
How does the Post Crash Alert System work?
The system flashes the direction indicators and sounds the horn (intermittently) in the event of a serious impact that deploys an airbag equipped on your vehicle. The horn and lamps turn off when:
- You press the hazard control button.
- You press the panic button on the remote entry transmitter.
- Your vehicle runs out of power.
What are the roadside assistance services? Roadside Assistance is available from the warranty start date and last for 5 years or 60,000 miles (100,000 km), whichever occurs first. Roadside Assistance is honored throughout the 50 states, Puerto Rico and Canada. Towing services are available to any qualified Ford or Lincoln dealer within the distance limits stated in the Owner’s Manual. If you’re out of warranty coverage but need Roadside Assistance, you can still access the service you need by paying a one-time fee. The following services are provided:

What kind of fuel should I use?
We recommend regular unleaded gasoline with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87. To provide improved performance, we recommend premium fuel for severe-duty usage, such as trailer towing. Use only UNLEADED fuel or UNLEADED fuel blended with a maximum of 15% ethanol and a minimum octane rating of 87. Do not use any other fuel because it could damage or impair the emission control system.
How do I refuel the vehicle?
- Make sure the ignition is switched off.
- Press the lower rear corner of the fuel door to open.
- Insert the fuel pump nozzle into the fuel system up to the first notch, and leave the nozzle inserted and resting on the cover of the fuel tank filler pipe opening.
- Make sure you keep the fuel pump nozzle in a level position when refueling or it may impact the flow of the fuel. Improper positioning can also cause the fuel pump to shut off before the fuel tank is full.
- When you finish refueling, slowly raise and remove the fuel pump nozzle. Fully close the fuel door. If you are refilling your tank from a fuel container, make sure you use the fuel filler funnel included with your vehicle. Using an aftermarket funnel may not work with the capless system and could cause damage to your vehicle.
Where is the spare tire and tools located?
Your spare tire and tools are under the carpeted wheel cover. A dissimilar spare tire is designed for emergency use only and should be replaced as soon as possible.
How do I reduce rear window buffeting?
You may hear a pulsing noise when just one of the windows is open. Lower the opposite window slightly to reduce this noise.
How does the Lane Keeping System work?
When you switch the system on and the system detects an unintentional drift out of your lane is likely to occur, the system notifies or assists you to stay in your lane through the steering system and information display. Depending on the feature operation mode you select, the system provides a warning by vibrating the steering wheel (Alert Mode) or a steering assistance (Aid Mode) by gently counter steering your vehicle back into the lane. The system can also provide both warning (vibrating the steering wheel) and steering assistance (gently counter steering your vehicle back into the lane) while Aid+Alert mode is selected. You can switch the system on or off by pressing the button on the direction indicator.
How does the SecuriCode™ Keyless Entry System work?
The SecuriCode keypad is near the driver window and illuminates when touched. The keypad allows you to lock or unlock the doors without a key. You can operate the keypad with the factory-set, five-digit entry code found on the owner’s wallet card in the glove box or by using your personal code. You must press each number within five seconds of each other. To Create a Personal Entry Code:
- Enter the factory-set code.
- Press 1·2 on the keypad within five seconds.
- Enter your personal five-digit code. You must enter each number within five seconds of each other.
- Press 1·2 on the keypad to save personal code 1. You may have up to 5 personal entry codes. The factory-set code will work even if you have set a personal entry code. To Unlock the Driver Door: Enter the factory-set, five-digit code or your personal code. The interior lamps turn on. To Unlock All Doors: Enter the factory-set code or your personal code, then press 3·4 within five seconds. To Lock All Doors: Press and hold 7·8 and 9·0 at the same time (with the driver door closed). You do not need to enter the keypad code first.
