How should I perform a patch test before my first treatment with the FAQ 502?
Before your first treatment, it is recommended to test your skin for a reaction to the FAQ 502. The patch test should be performed on your arm in an area approximately 3cm x 1cm in size (equivalent to one flash). Lightly place the silicone shield on your skin, then press and immediately release the flash button. Wait 24 hours after the patch test to ensure your skin is suitable for treatment and there is no adverse reaction to the light energy. If there is no reaction, you may proceed with treatment. If a skin reaction develops, discontinue use and consult your physician.
What are the steps for using the FAQ 502 for a treatment?
Follow these steps to use your FAQ 502:
1. PREP: Before starting your treatment, skin should be clean and dry, and you should put on the protective glasses.
2. SELECT INTENSITY: Press the power button to turn on the device. Adjust the intensity level by pressing the + and – buttons.
3. REJUVENATE: Lightly place the silicone shield to your skin. For large areas, press and hold the flash button while gliding on the skin. For smaller areas, press and immediately release the flash button. Once your treatment is complete, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn off your device. Then continue with your regular skincare routine.
Recommended usage is 2-3 times per week.
How should the FAQ 502 be placed on the skin for effective treatment?
For the pulsed light to work effectively, the silicone shield on your FAQ 502 must be in full contact with your skin. However, do not press the device too hard against the skin; the treatment window itself should NOT be in contact with the skin.
What are the different usage modes for the FAQ 502?
The FAQ 502 has two modes: Manual mode (default setting) and Auto mode (selectable under ‘Settings’ on the app).
• Manual mode: The flash will only activate when the flash button remains pressed, and the silicone shield is in full contact with the skin for ultimate control.
• Auto mode: Once the flash button is pressed, the flash will remain active as long as the silicone shield is in contact with the skin. If the device loses skin contact for more than 5 seconds in Auto mode, the flash button will need to be pressed again to activate the flash.
What are the recommended intensity levels for the FAQ 502?

After each treatment with the FAQ 502, apply a gentle, hydrating moisturizer. Avoid using harsh exfoliants, retinoids, or direct sun exposure for at least 48 hours post-treatment. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily, as your skin will be more sensitive to UV exposure.
What are the main safety warnings and precautions for using the FAQ 502?
For optimum safety, please follow these precautions:
• Eye Safety: The FAQ 502 emits flashes of intense pulsed light. Direct exposure is potentially harmful to your eyes. Always wear the protective eyewear provided. Do not look directly into the treatment window. Do not attempt to activate (flash) the device towards the eye or on any surface other than skin. Do not use the device over the eyelids or close to the eye, including over the eyebrows or eyelashes.
• Skin Sensitivity: If you have a known sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity) or are taking medication that makes the skin more sensitive (e.g., Retin A, Accutane), do not use this device. Discontinue use if you experience discomfort, prolonged skin redness, or temporary changes in skin color.
• Usage: Do not exceed the specified usage in the treatment regime. Over-usage, which includes excessive passes or stacking of flashes, can cause skin damage. The device is intended for cosmetic use on the face and neck only.
• Device Condition: Do not use the device if it is overheating, malfunctioning, appears damaged in any way, has been submerged in water, or if the charger is damaged. Ensure the device and charger plug and socket are completely dry before use and charging.
• Environment: Do not use near bathtubs, showers, basins or other vessels containing water. Avoid leaving the device in direct sunlight or exposing it to extreme heat or boiling water.
• General: The device should be kept out of the reach of children under 18 years of age. For reasons of hygiene, do not share your device with anyone else. Do not use the device while charging.
How do I clean my FAQ 502 device?
Always clean your FAQ 502 thoroughly after use. The treatment window should be thoroughly wiped with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth. It is particularly important to keep the front of the device and reflector free from dirt and other debris to ensure maximum performance. For optimal hygiene, we recommend spraying the silicone surface of the device with FAQ™ Silicone Cleaning Spray once a week, and rinsing with warm water.
CAUTION: The treatment window can get hot during use. DO NOT touch or clean the treatment window for at least 5 minutes after use to allow it to cool down.
NOTE: Never use cleaning products containing alcohol, petrol or acetone, as they may irritate the skin and damage the silicone. This device is NOT 100% waterproof. Be careful to avoid getting water in any openings in the device, including the cooling ducts.
What should I do if my FAQ 502 device is not activating when I press the universal button?
If your FAQ 502 does not activate, the battery may be empty. Recharge the device using the USB charging cable for up to 2 hours until it is fully charged. Then, restart your device by holding down the universal button.
What should I do if my FAQ 502 cannot be switched off or the universal button does not respond?
If the FAQ 502 cannot be turned off or the button is unresponsive, the microprocessor may be temporarily malfunctioning. Press and hold the universal button to restart the device.
