You can place your EPSON EB-992F on almost any flat surface. For a fixed location, you can install it on a ceiling mount. When selecting a location, note the following points:

• Leave plenty of space around and under the projector for ventilation. Do not place it on or next to anything that could block the vents.
• For the best image quality, place the projector so it squarely faces the screen, not at an angle. If you cannot place it squarely, use the keystone correction controls.

Warning:

• Do not cover the projector’s air intake or exhaust vents to prevent internal temperature rise and fire.
• Avoid dusty or dirty locations, as this can degrade image quality or clog the air filter.
• Do not install on an unstable surface.
• When installing in a high position, use wires to prevent falling.
• Do not install in locations with salt damage or corrosive gas.

Attention:

• Do not operate the projector on its side.
• If using the projector at altitudes above 1,500 m, set the High Altitude Mode to On in the Extended > Operation menu.

To connect your EPSON EB-992F projector to a computer using a VGA cable for video and a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack for audio, follow these steps:

1. Connect the VGA computer cable to your computer’s monitor port.

2. Connect the other end of the VGA cable to a Computer port on the projector.

3. Tighten the screws on the VGA connector to secure it.

4. Connect the 3.5 mm audio cable to your laptop’s headphone jack or your desktop’s speaker/audio-out port.

5. Connect the other end of the audio cable to the Audio port that corresponds to the Computer port you are using on the projector.

Note: Ensure the audio cable is labeled “No resistance”. If your computer does not have a VGA port, you will need an adapter.

If your computer meets the system requirements, you can send video and audio to the EPSON EB-992F through a USB port. This feature is called USB Display. Here is how to set it up:

1. Connect the USB cable to your projector’s USB-B port.

2. Connect the other end to any available USB port on your computer. It is recommended to connect directly to the computer, not through a USB hub.

3. Turn on the projector and your computer.

4. The first time you connect, you will need to install the Epson USB Display software.

– Windows: A dialog box will appear. Select Run EMP_UDSE.EXE to install the software.

– Mac: The Epson USB Display setup folder will appear. Select USB Display Installer and follow the on-screen instructions.

5. Follow any on-screen instructions. Do not disconnect the USB cable or turn off the projector until the image is displayed.

The projector will then display the image from your computer’s desktop and output any audio from your presentation.

To connect your EPSON EB-992F to a computer or video device that has an HDMI port, follow these steps:

1. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to your computer’s or video device’s HDMI output port.

2. Connect the other end of the cable to one of the projector’s HDMI ports.

The projector will now display video and play audio sent through the HDMI cable. If you have issues with audio, you can connect a separate 3.5mm stereo mini-jack audio cable from your device’s audio out port to the projector’s corresponding Audio port and select the correct audio input in the projector’s Extended menu.

Follow these steps to turn on your EPSON EB-992F:

1. Connect the power cord to the projector’s power inlet and plug it into an electrical outlet. The projector’s power indicator will turn blue, indicating it is in standby mode.

2. Press the power button on the control panel or the remote control. The projector will beep, and the status indicator will flash blue as it warms up. Once warmed up, the status indicator will stop flashing and turn solid blue.

3. Open the projector’s lens cover by sliding the A/V Mute slide lever.

If you do not see a projected image:

• Ensure the lens cover is fully open.
• Turn on the connected computer or video device.
• Press the [Source Search] button on the control panel or remote control.
• If the Home screen is displayed, select the source you want to project.

Note: The Direct Power On feature can be enabled in the Extended menu to have the projector turn on as soon as it is plugged in.

Follow these steps to turn off your EPSON EB-992F after use:

1. Press the power button on the control panel or remote control. A shutdown confirmation screen will appear.

2. Press the power button again. (To cancel the shutdown, press any other button.)

The projected image will disappear, the projector will beep twice, and the status indicator will turn off. Thanks to Epson’s Instant Off technology, there is no cool-down period required.

3. To transport or store the projector, make sure the power indicator is solid blue (not flashing) and the status indicator is off. Then, unplug the power cord.

4. Close the projector’s lens cover.

You may need to change the projection mode depending on how you have positioned the EPSON EB-992F. The modes are:

• Front: For projecting from a table in front of the screen.
• Front/Ceiling: Flips the image top-to-bottom for projecting upside-down from a ceiling or wall mount.
• Rear: Flips the image horizontally for projecting from behind a translucent screen.
• Rear/Ceiling: Flips the image top-to-bottom and horizontally for projecting from a ceiling mount behind a translucent screen.

Changing the Projection Mode Using the Remote Control:

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Hold down the [A/V Mute] button on the remote control for 5 seconds. The image will briefly disappear and then reappear flipped top-to-bottom. To change it back, repeat this step.

Changing the Projection Mode Using the Menus:

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Press the [Menu] button on the control panel or remote control.

3. Select the Extended menu and press [Enter].

4. Select Projection and press [Enter].

5. Select the desired projection mode and press [Enter].

6. Press [Menu] or [Esc] to exit the menus.

If the projected image from your EPSON EB-992F is not a perfect rectangle, you can correct its shape using several methods. Note that after correction, the image may be slightly smaller.

Auto V-Keystone:

When the projector is moved or tilted up or down (up to about 30°), this feature automatically corrects vertical keystone distortion.

Horizontal Keystone Slider:

Use the horizontal keystone slider on top of the projector to correct the shape of an image that is an uneven horizontal rectangle (e.g., when the projector is placed to the side of the screen). This works for angles up to about 30° left or right.

Keystone Buttons:

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Press one of the keystone adjustment buttons on the control panel to display the Keystone adjustment screen.

3. Use the keystone buttons to adjust the V-Keystone (vertical) and H-Keystone (horizontal) until the image is rectangular.

Quick Corner:

This setting allows you to correct the shape and size of an unevenly rectangular image by adjusting each corner individually.

1. Press the [Menu] button.

2. Select the Settings menu and press [Enter].

3. Select Keystone and press [Enter].

4. Select Quick Corner and press [Enter].

5. Use the arrow buttons to select the corner you want to adjust, then press [Enter].

6. Use the arrow buttons to adjust the image shape as needed. Press [Enter] to return to the corner selection screen.

7. Repeat for other corners if necessary. When finished, press [Esc].

To adjust the size and focus of the projected image on your EPSON EB-992F, use the rings on the lens assembly.

Resizing the Image (Zoom):

1. Turn on the projector and display an image.

2. Locate the zoom ring on the projector’s lens.

3. Rotate the zoom ring to enlarge or reduce the image to the desired size.

Focusing the Image:

1. After setting the image size, display an image.

2. Locate the focus ring on the projector’s lens.

3. Rotate the focus ring until the image is sharp and clear.

When multiple image sources are connected to your EPSON EB-992F, you can switch between them using one of the following methods:

1. Make sure the connected image source you want to use is turned on.

2. Do one of the following:

• Press the [Source Search] button on the control panel or remote control. This will cycle through the available input sources until your desired image is displayed.
• Press the specific source button on the remote control (e.g., [HDMI], [Computer], [LAN], [USB]). If there is more than one port for that source (e.g., HDMI1, HDMI2), press the button again to cycle through them.
• Press the [Home] button on the control panel or remote control. Use the arrow buttons to select the desired source from the list on the Home screen, then press [Enter].

You can use the split screen feature on your EPSON EB-992F to project two images from different sources simultaneously.

1. Press the [Split] button on the remote control. The currently selected input source moves to the left side of the screen.

2. Press the [Menu] button to display the Split Screen Setup menu. From here you can adjust the following settings:

• Source: Select the input source for the right-side image. Note that not all source combinations are supported (e.g., HDMI1 and HDMI2 cannot be displayed together).
• Screen Size: Enlarge one image while reducing the other (Larger Left or Larger Right), or make them equal size.
• Swap Screens: Swap the left and right images.
• Audio Source: Select which source’s audio you want to hear.
• Align: Align the projected images.

3. To exit the split screen feature, press the [Split] or [Esc] button.

Restrictions during split screen projection: E-Zoom, aspect mode switching, the [User] button, and Auto Iris are disabled.

If you are experiencing issues with your EPSON EB-992F, try these general and specific troubleshooting steps.

General Steps:

If the projector is not working properly, turn it off, unplug it, then plug it back in and turn it on again. If this doesn’t solve the problem, check the indicators on the projector, use the built-in Help system, or consult the solutions below.

Solutions When No Image Appears:

• Make sure the lens cover is fully open.
• Press the [A/V Mute] button to see if the image was temporarily turned off.
• Check that all cables are securely connected and all devices are powered on.
• Press the power button to wake the projector from standby or sleep mode.
• Adjust the Brightness setting in the Image menu.
• Set Power Consumption to High or Medium in the ECO menu.

Solutions for Incorrect Image Shape (Not Rectangular):

• Place the projector directly in front of the screen, if possible.
• Use the Auto V-Keystone, Horizontal Keystone Slider, Keystone Buttons, or Quick Corner features to adjust the image shape.

Solutions for Fuzzy or Blurry Image:

• Adjust the focus using the focus ring.
• Position the projector closer to the screen.
• Clean the projector lens.
• Avoid extreme keystone adjustment angles.

Solutions for Incorrect Brightness or Colors:

• Press the [Color Mode] button on the remote to try different modes (e.g., Dynamic, Cinema).
• Adjust settings like Brightness, Contrast, and Color Saturation in the Image menu.
• Check that all cables are securely connected.
• If using ECO power consumption mode, try switching to High or Medium.

Solutions for Sound Problems:

• Adjust the projector’s volume settings.
• Press the [A/V Mute] button to ensure sound is not muted.
• Check that your computer or video source’s volume is turned up.
• Verify audio cable connections.
• If you hear no sound from an HDMI source, set the connected device to PCM output.

Solutions for Remote Control Not Working:

• Check that the batteries are installed correctly and have power.
• Make sure you are within the reception angle and range of the projector.
• Dim strong fluorescent lights or move the projector away from direct sunlight, which can interfere with the signal.
• Ensure the Remote Receiver setting is enabled in the Settings menu.

Regular maintenance will keep your EPSON EB-992F working properly. Before cleaning any part, turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

Cleaning the Lens:

Clean the lens periodically or when you notice dust or smudges.

• To remove dust, gently wipe the lens with lens-cleaning paper.
• To remove stubborn smudges, moisten a soft, lint-free cloth with lens cleaner and gently wipe the lens. Do not spray liquid directly on the lens.

Cleaning the Projector Case:

• To remove dust, use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
• To remove stubborn dirt, use a soft cloth moistened with water and mild soap.

Attention: Do not use wax, alcohol, benzene, paint thinner, or other chemicals, as they can damage the case.

Cleaning the Air Filter and Vents:

Clean the air filter when a message appears or if it gets dusty to prevent overheating.

1. Turn off the projector and unplug it.

2. Use a small vacuum designed for computers or a very soft brush to gently remove dust from the filter and vents.

3. You can remove the air filter to clean both sides. Do not rinse it with water or use detergent.

4. If dust is difficult to remove or the filter is damaged, it must be replaced.

You need to replace the air filter on your EPSON EB-992F if you see a replacement message after cleaning it, or if the filter is torn or damaged.

1. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

2. Open the air filter cover.

3. Pull the air filter out of the projector.

4. Place the new air filter (model ELPAF54) into the projector as shown in the manual and push gently until it clicks into place.

5. Close the air filter cover securely.

Replace the lamp (model ELPLP97) as soon as possible when the projected image gets darker, a lamp replacement message appears, or the lamp indicator flashes orange.

Warning: Let the lamp cool for at least one hour before replacing it to avoid injury. If replacing a ceiling-mounted lamp, assume it may be cracked and stand to the side, not underneath it.

Replacing the Lamp:

1. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.

2. Wait at least one hour for the lamp to cool down.

3. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw securing the lamp cover.

4. Slide the lamp cover out and lift it off.

5. Loosen the screws securing the lamp to the projector. These screws will not come all the way out.

6. Grip the raised section of the lamp and carefully pull it straight out.

7. Gently insert the new lamp. If it does not fit easily, make sure it is facing the correct way. Do not touch the glass on the lamp assembly.

8. Push the lamp in firmly and tighten the screws to secure it.

9. Replace the lamp cover and tighten the screw to secure it.

Resetting the Lamp Timer:

After replacing the lamp, you must reset the lamp timer to clear the replacement message and accurately track usage.

1. Turn on the projector.

2. Press the [Menu] button, select the Reset menu, and press [Enter].

3. Select Reset Lamp Hours and press [Enter].

4. A confirmation prompt will appear. Select Yes and press [Enter].

5. Press [Menu] or [Esc] to exit the menus.
