The DORO AURORA A30 has several physical components and buttons:

Front and Sides:

Before you start using your new DORO AURORA A30, you may need:

• nano-SIM card: To place calls or use mobile data. Your mobile service provider will give you a card and the necessary codes (PIN and PUK).

• Google account: To fully use your smartphone, you need a Google account for services like Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos. You will be guided through an account setup when starting the phone for the first time.

• Memory card (optional): You can use a microSD, microSDHC, or microSDXC card (max 1024 GB) for extra storage.

• Wi-Fi access: It’s recommended to connect to a Wi-Fi access point to reduce costs for data traffic and potentially increase data speed.

First, turn off the phone and disconnect the charger before removing the SIM/memory card tray.

1. Pull out the SIM/memory card tray: Use your fingernail or a similar object to gently pull out the tray. No tool is needed. Do not insert a needle or any sharp object into any hole on the phone.

2. Insert the card/cards:

• Place the nano-SIM card into the correct tray slot (SIM1). Ensure the card’s contacts are facing downwards and the cut-off corner matches the tray slot.

• You may optionally place a memory card (microSD, max 1024 GB) in the tray. Ensure its contacts face downwards and match the slot.

• Alternatively, you can insert a second SIM card into the card holder’s second slot if you are not using a memory card.

3. Insert the SIM card tray back into its slot.

It is recommended to fully charge your DORO AURORA A30 before its first use. Always check that the USB-C port is free from dirt or moisture before use.

Wired Charging:

1. Insert one end of the included USB-C cable into the charging port on the phone.

2. Insert the other end of the USB cable into a wall charger that you plug into a wall socket, or plug it into a USB port on your computer. Charging is generally quicker from a wall socket.

Wireless Charging:

1. You can also charge the phone using a wireless charger (optional accessory).

2. Charging will begin automatically when the phone is properly aligned with the charging area.

If the phone is turned off during charging, it is still charging. You can press the Power button to view the charging status. When the battery is fully charged, disconnect the charger from the device and unplug it from the wall socket to save energy.

1. Once the device is fully charged, press and hold the Power button until the display lights up.

2. If “Enter SIM PIN” is displayed, you must enter your SIM PIN code and then tap the check mark button. To erase a digit, tap the erase button.

3. Wait for the phone to start.

4. A Startup guide will launch to help you set up basic settings, customize your device, and sign in to your accounts. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Your DORO AURORA A30 responds to a variety of simple finger movements on the touchscreen:

1. Tap: Tap an item, like a button or icon, to select or open it.

2. Double tap: Touch the same item twice to zoom in on a map or an image.

3. Long press: Touch and hold an item on the screen.

4. Swipe: Press your finger to the screen and drag it to move the screen. For example, swiping left on the Home screen moves to the next Home screen.

5. Drag and drop: Press and hold an item, then move your finger across the screen to drag it to a new location. Release your finger to drop it.

6. Flick: Swipe more quickly on a page to move quickly in that direction.

7. Pinch: Place two fingers separated on the screen and pinch them together to zoom out.

8. Zoom: Place two fingers together on the screen and spread them apart to zoom in.

9. Rotate (in maps): Using two fingers, rotate the map clockwise or counterclockwise.

At the bottom of the screen on your DORO AURORA A30, you will find a navigation bar with three keys:

• Home key: Tap to return to the Home screen. Long press to launch a voice assistant like Google Assistant.

• Back key: Tap to return to the previous screen, or to close a dialog box, menu, or keyboard.

• Recents key (overview key): Tap to view recently used applications. Tap an application to open it, or tap “Clear all” to close all used applications. Double tap to switch to the previously used app.

To capture a screenshot on your DORO AURORA A30:

1. Find the screen you want to capture.

2. Quickly press the Power button and the Volume down button simultaneously.

This feature works as long as it has not been deactivated in the Smart controls settings.

1. To activate or change the screen lock, tap Settings → My Phone → Security settings → Device unlock.

2. Tap Screen lock. If a screen lock is already active, you will need to enter the current unlock code or pattern.

3. Select one of the following options:

• None: No security. Press the Power button to unlock.

• Swipe: No security. Swipe up with your finger to unlock.

• Pattern: Medium security. Trace a pattern on the screen to unlock. The pattern must cover at least four dots.

• PIN: Medium to high security. Enter a PIN of at least four numbers.

• Password: High security. Enter a password of at least four characters, which can include numbers and symbols.

Before using face recognition, be aware that it is less secure than Pattern, PIN, or Password.

1. Tap Settings → My Phone → Security settings → Device unlock.

2. Tap Face Unlock.

3. Enter your Pattern, PIN, or Password when asked. If you don’t have one set, you must enable one first.

4. Tap to set Use face unlock to the on position.

5. Tap Face unlock settings.

6. Read the on-screen instructions, then tap Continue.

7. Complete the face registration by positioning your face inside the detection area on the screen.

8. Tap the checkmark when finished.

Use the volume keys on the left side of your phone. When pressed, a volume slider will appear on the screen. You can then:

• Drag the on-screen slider to adjust the sound level.

• Tap the icon at the top of the slider to switch the phone’s ring mode:

• Tap the vibrate icon to enable Vibration mode.

• Tap the silent icon to enable Silent mode.

• Tap the ring icon to enable ring mode.

• Activate keyboard: Tap any text field to open the on-screen keyboard.

• Hide keyboard: Tap the down arrow icon.

• Special characters and numbers: Tap ?123 for more characters. Tap =\< to view additional characters. Tap ABC to return to letters.

• Upper/Lower case: Tap the Shift-key (up arrow) on the lower left. Tap once for capitalization, or double-tap to type in ALL CAPS.

• Voice input: Tap the microphone icon to speak instead of typing.

• Move cursor: Tap somewhere in the text to get the marker. Then, put your finger on the marker and drag it to move the cursor within the text.

• Cut, Copy, Paste: Touch and hold the text you want to edit. A marker will appear. Move the marker to highlight the desired area, then select Cut or Copy. To paste, touch and hold where you want to paste, and then select Paste from the text box that appears.

1. From the Home screen, tap Settings → My Phone → Battery save mode.

2. Tap Use Battery Saver.

3. When activated, the color of the battery in the status bar will turn orange.

4. To have it activate automatically, tap Set a schedule → Based on percentage and adjust the battery level at which the saver should turn on.

Here are some tips to extend your phone’s battery power:

• Charge your phone often, preferably every day.

• When not downloading data from the Internet, disable data connections over mobile networks.

• Turn off Wi-Fi when not in use.

• Turn off Bluetooth when not in use.

• Deactivate auto-syncing of apps and synchronize manually.

• Use the menu in Settings → Advanced settings → Battery → Battery usage to see which applications use the most power.

• Decrease the screen brightness.

• In areas with no network coverage, activate Aeroplane mode.

• Avoid running apps that use GPS for longer than necessary.

• Lock the screen when not in use by pressing the Power button.

1. Press and hold the Power button until the options menu opens.

2. In the options menu, tap Power off. Optionally, you can press Restart to restart the phone or Lockdown. The Emergency option allows you to contact emergency services without unlocking the phone.

The Doro Secure Button on the back of the phone allows you to easily contact predefined Responders (family and friends) for help. The function requires an Internet connection and relies on the Responder having the “Response by Doro” app installed on their smartphone.

To activate an assistance call:

• Press and hold the assistance button on the back of the phone for 3 seconds, OR

• Press it three (3) times within 1 second.

The assistance alert is sent after a 5-second delay, during which you can press Cancel to prevent a false alarm. An assistance alarm is then initiated, and your Group of Responders will be alerted with your distress signal and latest known location. The first person to confirm the alarm becomes responsible for it and can call you.

You can manage the Home screen and the apps on it by tapping Organise apps on the Home screen or by going to Settings → Home screen.

• Add an app: Select “Add an app to the Home screen”. Tap the ‘+’ on the app you want to add. You can choose to add it as a new app at the end or replace an existing app.

• Swap an app: Select “Swap an app on the Home screen” and pick the two apps you want to swap.

• Insert an app: Select “Insert an app on the Home screen”. Tap the ‘+’ on the app you want to add, then tap an existing app that you want your new app to be placed next to. Choose ‘Before’ or ‘After’.

• Remove an app: Select “Remove an app on the Home screen”. Tap on the app you want to remove, and confirm.

• Wallpaper & background: Change the background image for your Home and Lock screens.

• Home screen mode: Change the number of apps shown per page (Single, 4 app, or 6 app mode).

• Phone profiles: Choose between General, Minimalistic, or Colourful profiles to change how your phone looks and feels.

1. From the Home screen, tap Settings → Wi-Fi network & Bluetooth → Wi-Fi.

2. Switch the toggle to enable Wi-Fi. Available networks will be displayed in a list.

3. Tap a network to connect. If the network is secured (indicated by a lock symbol), you will need to enter the password.

4. Tap Connect.

Reboot the phone:

If the phone becomes frozen or unresponsive, press and hold the Power button and the Volume up key simultaneously for more than 8 seconds to reboot it. The phone will restart automatically.

Reset the phone (Factory Reset):

Resetting the phone will erase most information, such as downloaded apps, accounts, and settings. Be sure to back up any data you want to keep before proceeding.

1. From the Home screen, tap Settings → Advanced settings → System → Reset options.

2. Choose one of the following:

• Reset mobile network settings: Resets all mobile network settings.

• Reset Bluetooth and Wi-Fi: Resets all Wi-Fi & Bluetooth settings.

• Reset app preferences: Resets preferences for disabled apps, notifications, default apps, etc., without losing app data.

• Erase all data (factory reset): Erases all data from your phone’s internal storage, including your Google account, system and app data, and downloaded apps. Follow the on-screen instructions carefully.

Make a call:

You can press the physical Call/answer button (green) to open the Phone app, which includes Contacts and Favourites. Alternatively:

1. From the Home screen, tap the Phone app.

2. Then tap:

• Dialler to manually enter a phone number.

• Contacts to call someone from your list of contacts.

• Call logs to call a number from your call history.

Answer a call:

When you receive a call, the screen will light up. You have a few options:

• Press the Call/answer button (green) to answer the call.

• Press the End call button (red) to reject the call.

• Press the volume button (up or down) to silence the ringer.

Open the Camera:

From the Home screen, tap the Camera app.

Take a picture:

1. Tap the camera button in the app to take a picture.

2. To zoom, use two fingers and spread them apart to zoom in, or pinch to zoom out. You can also tap 1.0X to open a zoom slider.

Take a selfie:

1. In the camera preview screen, tap the switch-camera icon to switch to the front camera.

2. When you see your face in the display, tap the camera button to take a picture of yourself.

Record a video:

1. In the camera preview screen, tap the mode icon and then select Video.

2. Tap the record button to start recording. Tap it again to stop.

Scan QR codes:

1. Open the camera.

2. Point it at a QR code. If the code is recognized, a message will appear. Tap the message to open the link or view the content.
