This appliance may be used by children aged 8 or over and by people who have reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or inadequate experience and/or knowledge, provided that they are supervised or have been instructed on how to use the appliance safely and have understood the resulting dangers.

Do not let children play with the appliance.

Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children unless they are being supervised.

Keep children under the age of 8 years away from the appliance and power cable.

Improper installation can be dangerous. Follow these instructions for safe installation:

● **Risk of injury:** When installing and connecting the appliance, follow the instructions in the manual and installation instructions.

● **Risk of electric shock:**

– Connect and operate the appliance only in accordance with the specifications on the rating plate.

– Always use the supplied power cable for the new appliance.

– Connect the appliance to a power supply with alternating current only via a properly installed socket with earthing.

– The protective conductor system of the domestic electrical installation must be properly installed.

– Never equip the appliance with an external switching device, e.g. a timer or remote control.

– When the appliance is installed, the mains plug of the power cord must be freely accessible. If free access is not possible, an isolating switch must be integrated into the permanent electrical installation according to the installation regulations.

– Do not sit or stand on the appliance door when open.

– Arrange knives and utensils with sharp points in the cutlery basket with the points downwards, on the knife shelf or in the cutlery drawer.

● **Risk of scalding:** Open the appliance door carefully if the programme is still running, as hot water may splash out.

● **Risk of electric shock:**

– Only use the appliance in enclosed spaces.

– Never expose the appliance to intense heat or humidity.

– Do not use steam- or high-pressure cleaners to clean the appliance.

– Never let the power cord come into contact with hot appliance parts, heat sources, sharp points, or edges.

– Never kink, crush or modify the power cord.

If the appliance or the power cord is damaged, it is dangerous. Follow these steps:

● Never operate a damaged appliance.

● Never operate an appliance with a cracked or fractured surface.

● Never pull on the power cord to unplug the appliance. Always unplug the appliance at the mains.

● If the appliance or the power cord is damaged, immediately unplug the power cord or switch off the fuse in the fuse box and turn off the water tap.

● Call customer service. Improper repairs are dangerous.

● Repairs to the appliance should only be carried out by trained specialist staff.

● Only use genuine spare parts when repairing the appliance.

● If the power cord of this appliance is damaged, it must be replaced with a special power cord, which is available from the manufacturer or its Customer Service.

● **Risk of suffocation:** Keep packaging material and small parts away from children. Do not let children play with packaging material or small parts.

● **Risk of entrapment:** Use the childproof lock if fitted. Never let children play with or operate the appliance.

● **Risk of harm to health:** With redundant appliances, unplug the power cord, cut through it, and damage the door lock beyond repair so it will no longer close.

● **Risk of crushing:** With higher-level appliances, keep an eye on children when opening and closing the appliance door.

To prevent material damage during installation:

● If installing above or below other appliances, follow the specific installation instructions. If no information is available, contact the manufacturer to check compatibility.

● Do not install the dishwasher under a hob.

● Do not install near heat sources like radiators or ovens.

● Ensure there is at least 5 cm between the appliance and water pipes to prevent corrosion.

● Never kink, crush, modify, or cut through water hoses. Use only the supplied hoses or genuine spare hoses.

● Ensure the water supply pressure is between 50 kPa (0.5 bar) and 1000 kPa (10 bar). If pressure is higher, a pressure-reducing valve must be installed.

To prevent material damage during use:

● When the programme ends, leave the appliance to cool down for a while before opening the door to prevent damage to fitted units from escaping water vapour.

● Do not use a steam cleaner.

● To avoid scratching the finish, do not use sponges with a rough surface or abrasive cleaning agents.

● To prevent corrosion on stainless steel fronts, do not use sponge cloths, or rinse them thoroughly before first use.

If you follow these instructions, your BOSCH SMV6HCX01A dishwasher will use less electricity and less water:

● Use the Eco Wash programme. The Eco Wash programme is energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.

● Change the sensor setting to the default. This reduces consumption.

The available programmes for your BOSCH SMV6HCX01A are listed below. Running time may vary depending on water temperature, quantity of tableware, level of soiling, and selected additional functions.

You can save a combination of a programme and an additional function to the Favourite (☆) button on the appliance.

1. Open the appliance door.

2. Press the ON/OFF button.

3. Press the right programme button.

4. Press the button for the relevant additional function.

5. Press ☆ for 3 seconds.

The selected programme and additional function will flash, and the ☆ will flash. The programme and function are now saved.

Tip: You can also use the Home Connect app to download and save additional programmes to the ☆ button.

To wash large items of tableware in the baskets, adjust the shelf position of the top basket.

1. Pull out the top basket.

2. To prevent the basket from suddenly dropping down, hold the side of the basket by the top edge.

3. Press in the levers on the right and left on the outside of the basket.

4. Raise or lower the basket evenly to the right level. Check that the basket is level on both sides.

5. Release the levers. The basket clicks into position.

6. Slide the basket back in.

Use the Extra Clean Zone in the top basket to clean soiled tableware thoroughly, e.g. muesli bowls. Note: Consumption will increase if you operate your appliance with the Extra Clean Zone switched on.

1. Pull out the top basket.

2. Set the slider to ON or OFF.

3. Push in the top basket.

You can fold the prongs down to position pans, bowls and glasses better.

1. Push the lever forwards and fold down the prongs.

2. To use the prongs again, fold them back up. The prongs audibly click into position.

Use the baking sheet spray head instead of the top basket to clean large items like trays, grilles, and plates.

Inserting baking sheet spray head:

1. Remove top basket.

2. Insert the baking sheet spray head in the holder and turn it to the right. The baking sheet spray head clicks into position.

Removing baking sheet spray head:

1. Turn the baking sheet spray head anticlockwise and remove from the holder.

2. Insert the top basket in the appliance.

Note: Check that the appliance is always operated with the top basket or the baking sheet spray head.

Set the baskets at the right height to accommodate different sized tableware.

On initial start-up or after a reset to the factory settings, you will need to make settings. The appliance must be installed and connected.

1. Add rinse aid.

2. Switch on the appliance.

3. Set the amount of rinse aid to be dispensed.

4. Add detergent.

5. Start the Programme with the highest cleaning temperature without tableware. This is recommended to remove any marks from water or other residues from factory testing.

Tip: You can change these and other Basic settings at any time again.

If the rinse aid refill indicator lights up, top up with rinse aid. Only use rinse aid for domestic dishwashers.

1. Press the catch on the lid of the dispenser for rinse aid and lift.

2. Add rinse aid up to the max mark.

3. If rinse aid spills out, remove it from the tub. Spilled rinse aid can cause excessive frothing during the wash cycle.

4. Close the lid of the dispenser for rinse aid. The lid clicks into position.

If there are streaks or water marks on tableware, change the amount of rinse aid.

1. Press the ON/OFF button.

2. To open the basic settings, press Setup 3 sec. for 3 seconds. The display shows ‘set’.

3. Press Setup 3 sec. repeatedly until the display shows the value set at the factory ‘r:05’.

4. Press – or + repeatedly until the right amount of rinse aid has been set.

– A low setting adds less rinse aid and reduces streaking.

– A higher setting adds more rinse aid, reduces water marks, and improves drying.

5. To save the settings, press Setup 3 sec. for 3 seconds.

If you find the rinse aid refill indicator irritating, e.g. when using combined detergents with a rinse aid component, you can switch the rinse aid system off.

1. Press the ON/OFF button.

2. To open the basic settings, press Setup 3 sec. for 3 seconds. The display shows ‘set’.

3. Press Setup 3 sec. repeatedly until the display shows the value set at the factory ‘r:05’.

4. Press – or + repeatedly until the display shows ‘r:00’.

5. To save the settings, press Setup 3 sec. for 3 seconds.

The rinse aid system is switched off and the rinse aid refill indicator is deactivated.

Only use detergents that are suitable for dishwashers. For optimum washing and drying, use separate detergent together with rinse aid.

Do not use detergents which could cause damage to the appliance or present a risk to health.

1. To open the detergent dispenser, press the locking latch.

2. Add the detergent to the dry detergent dispenser.

– If using tablets, one is enough. Insert it in a horizontal position.

– If using powder or liquid detergent, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for dosage. 20-25 ml is sufficient for normal soiling.

3. Close the lid of the detergent dispenser. The lid clicks into position.

The detergent dispenser will open automatically at the optimum time during the programme. To ensure tablets can dissolve evenly, do not place any other objects in the tablet collecting tray.

Only put glasses and china in the dishwasher if marked as dishwasher-safe by the manufacturer.

Arranging Tableware:

1. Remove large remnants of food from tableware. Do not pre-rinse under running water to save resources.

2. Observe the following when arranging:

– Put heavily soiled tableware (e.g., pans) in the bottom basket for a more powerful spray.

– Arrange tableware so it is stable and cannot tip over.

– To prevent injury, arrange cutlery with points and sharp edges facing down.

– Position containers with openings facing down so water cannot collect in them.

– Do not block the spray arms; ensure they can turn freely.

– Do not place small parts in the tablet collecting tray.

Removing Tableware:

Hot tableware can cause burns and is sensitive to shock. When the programme has ended, do not empty the appliance until the tableware has cooled down for a while.

1. To prevent water dripping on the tableware, unload it starting at the bottom and working up.

2. Check the washing tank and accessories for soiling and clean if necessary.

● **Switching on the appliance:** Press the ON/OFF button. The last selected programme and function will be set by default.

● **Setting a programme:** Press the right programme button to select a suitable programme for the soiling level of the tableware. The programme button flashes and the remaining time appears on the display.

● **Setting additional functions:** Press the button for the relevant additional function. The function is set and the button flashes.

● **Setting timer programming:** Press – or + to set a delay start time up to 24 hours. Press Start to activate.

● **Starting the programme:** Press Start. The programme ends when the display shows “00h:00m”.

● **Interrupting a programme:** Open the appliance door carefully. If the appliance was heated, leave the door slightly ajar for a few minutes then close it. Press the ON/OFF button to pause and again to resume.

● **Terminating a programme:** To end a programme early, open the door and press Reset 4 sec. for approx. 4 seconds. Close the door. The programme is cancelled and ends after approx. 1 minute.

● **Switching off the appliance:** Press the ON/OFF button.

You can configure the basic settings to meet your needs. The factory setting is marked with ¹.

1. Open the appliance door.

2. Press the ON/OFF button.

3. To open the basic settings, press Setup 3 sec. for 3 seconds. The display shows ‘set’.

4. Press Setup 3 sec. repeatedly until the display shows the required setting.

5. Press – or + repeatedly until the display shows the right value. You can change several settings.

6. To save the settings, press Setup 3 sec. for 3 seconds.

7. Close the appliance door.

Soiling in the dishwashing water may block the filters. Clean them regularly.

1. After each wash, check the filters for residue.

2. Turn the coarse filter anticlockwise and remove the filter system. Check that no foreign objects fall into the sump.

3. Pull down the micro filter to remove.

4. Press the locking catches together and lift the coarse filter out.

5. Clean the filter elements under running water. Carefully clean the rim of dirt between the coarse and fine filter.

6. Re-assemble the filter system. Make sure that the locking catches on the coarse filter click into position.

7. Insert the filter system into the appliance and turn the coarse filter clockwise. Make sure that the arrow markings match up.

Limescale and soiling may block the nozzles and bearings on the spray arms. Clean them regularly.

1. Unscrew the upper spray arm and pull down to remove.

2. Pull up the lower spray arm to remove.

3. Check the outlet nozzles on the spray arms for blockages under running water and remove any foreign objects.

4. Insert the lower spray arm. The spray arm clicks into position.

5. Insert the upper spray arm and screw it firmly in place.

Large remnants of food or foreign bodies can block the wastewater pump. Clean it when water no longer drains properly.

WARNING: Risk of injury! Sharp objects or glass fragments may cause injury. Remove any foreign bodies carefully.

1. Disconnect the appliance from the mains.

2. Remove the top and bottom basket.

3. Remove the filter system.

4. Scoop out any water. Use a sponge if necessary.

5. Prise off the pump cover using a spoon and grip it by the crosspiece.

6. Lift the pump cover inwards at an angle and remove.

7. Remove any remnants of food and foreign bodies in the area of the impeller.

8. Insert the pump cover and press down. The pump cover clicks into position.

9. Install the filter system.

10. Insert the top and bottom basket.

11. Connect the appliance to the mains.

To avoid damage, empty the appliance before transporting. Always transport the appliance upright.

1. Remove tableware from the appliance.

2. Secure loose parts.

3. Switch on the appliance.

4. Select the programme with the highest temperature.

5. Start the programme.

6. To drain the appliance, terminate the programme after approx. 4 minutes.

7. Switch off the appliance.

8. Turn off the tap.

9. To empty the residual water out of the appliance, detach the supply hose and let the water drain out.

This indicates a technical fault. Follow these steps:

1. Press the ON/OFF button.

2. Unplug the appliance or switch off the fuse.

3. Wait at least 2 minutes.

4. Insert the mains plug of the appliance in a socket or switch on the fuse.

5. Switch the appliance on.

6. If the problem occurs again: Press the ON/OFF button, turn off the water tap, pull out the mains plug, and contact Customer Service with the error code.

● **E:20-60 lights up alternately:** The appliance has detected a calcified heating element. Descale the appliance.

● **E:30-00 or E:31-00 will light up alternately:** The water protection system is activated. Turn off the water tap and call Customer Service.

● **E:32-00 will light up alternately or indicator for water supply lights up:**

– Supply hose is kinked: Install the inlet hose without kinks.

– Water tap is turned off: Turn on the water tap.

– Water tap is jammed or furred up: Turn on the water tap. The flow rate must be at least 10 l/min.

– The filters in the water connection are blocked: Switch off the appliance, unplug it, turn off the water tap, unscrew the water connection, remove and clean the filter, then reassemble.

● **E:34-00 will light up alternately:** Water is continuously running into the appliance. Turn off the water tap and call Customer Service.

● **E:61-02 will light up alternately:** Not an appliance fault. The wastewater pump is blocked or the cover is loose. Clean the wastewater pump and secure the cover so it clicks into position.

● **E:61-03 will light up alternately, water not drained:** Not an appliance fault. The siphon connection is still closed, or the wastewater hose is kinked/blocked. Check the siphon connection and open if necessary. Install the wastewater hose without kinks and remove residues. If the issue persists, the wastewater pump may be blocked or its cover loose; clean the pump and secure the cover.

● **E:90-01 will light up alternately:** Mains voltage is too low. This is not a fault with the appliance. Contact an electrician to have the mains voltage and electrical installation checked.

● **E:92-40 will light up alternately:** Filters are soiled or blocked. Clean the filters.

A technical fault is present.

1. Press the ON/OFF button.

2. Unplug the appliance or switch off the fuse.

3. Wait at least 2 minutes.

4. Insert the mains plug of the appliance in a socket or switch on the fuse.

5. Switch the appliance on.

6. If the problem occurs again: Press the ON/OFF button, turn off the water tap, pull out the mains plug, and contact Customer Service with the error code.

There are several possible reasons for poor drying performance:

● **No rinse aid used or dosage too low:** Add rinse aid or set the amount to a higher level.

● **Programme has no drying phase or is too brief:** Select a programme with drying, e.g., intensive, strong or ECO. Some options like varioSpeed can decrease drying results.

● **Water collects in recesses:** Position tableware at an angle where possible.

● **Combined detergent has poor drying performance:** Use rinse aid to improve drying, or use a different combined detergent with better drying performance.

● **Extra Dry not activated:** Activate the Extra Dry function.

● **Tableware removed too early:** Wait until the programme ends and only remove tableware 30 minutes after the programme has ended.

● **Rinse aid has limited performance:** Use a name-brand rinse aid. Eco products may have limited effectiveness.

● **Plastic tableware is not dry:** This is normal. Plastic does not store heat well, so it does not dry as well as other materials. No remedial action is possible.

Possible causes for food remnants include:

● **Tableware placed too close together or basket overfilled:** Arrange tableware with sufficient space in between so spray jets can reach all surfaces. Avoid points of contact.

● **Spray arm rotation is blocked:** Arrange tableware so that it does not obstruct spray arm rotation.

● **Spray arm nozzles are blocked:** Clean the spray arms.

● **Filters are soiled or inserted incorrectly:** Clean the filters and ensure they are inserted and engaged correctly.

● **Washing programme selected was too weak:** Select a more intensive washing programme or adjust the sensitivity of the sensors.

● **Tableware was precleaned too intensely:** The sensors chose a weaker programme. Only remove large remnants of food and do not prerinse tableware. Adjust sensor sensitivity if needed.

● **Tall narrow receptacles not rinsed adequately:** Do not position them at too great an angle or in corner areas.

● **Top baskets not at the same height:** Set the upper basket on the left and right to the same height.

Detergent residue can be caused by several issues:

● **Lid of detergent dispenser blocked:** Arrange tableware so the tablet collecting tray and dispenser lid are not obstructed. Do not place tableware or fragrance dispensers in the tablet collecting tray.

● **Tabs used in a quick or short programme:** The dissolving time of the tab is not attained. Select a more intensive programme or use powder detergent.

● **Detergent is old or lumpy:** Change your detergent.

● **Detergent dispenser was damp when detergent was added:** Only add detergent to a dry dispenser.

Due to the laws of physics, droplet formation on plastic surfaces is unavoidable. After drying, water marks may be visible. To mitigate this:

● Select a more intensive programme.

● Position tableware at an angle.

● Use rinse aid.

● **Stubborn white coatings:** These are detergent substances that cannot generally be removed with chemicals. Change your detergent and clean the appliance mechanically. Too little detergent may also be the cause, so increase the amount used or change detergent. The washing programme may also be too weak; select a more intensive one or adjust sensor sensitivity.

● **Tea residue or lipstick marks:** The washing temperature may be too low; select a programme with a higher temperature. Too little detergent or an unsuitable detergent may be the cause; use a suitable detergent and follow manufacturer instructions. Tableware may have been precleaned too intensely; only remove large food remnants and do not prerinse.

The formation of films can be due to substances in vegetables (cabbage, celery, potatoes, etc.) or tap water (manganese). You can clean the appliance mechanically or with a machine cleaning product. It may not always be possible to completely remove these deposits, but they are harmless to health.

If the films are on silver or aluminium tableware, they are due to metal components. Clean the appliance as described above.

Plastic parts inside the appliance may become discoloured during the life of the dishwasher. This can come about and will not impair the functioning of the appliance. If plastic parts are discoloured, it may be because the washing temperature is too low; select a programme with a higher washing temperature.

● **Removable streaks:** The amount of rinse aid dispensed is set too high; set the rinse aid system to a lower setting. No rinse aid has been added; add rinse aid. Detergent residue is in the final rinse because the dispenser was blocked; arrange tableware correctly.

● **Irreversible clouding of glassware:** Glasses are not dishwasher-proof. Use dishwasher-proof glasses. To minimize wear on suitable glasses, avoid a lengthy steam phase (standing time after wash cycle ends), use a programme with a lower temperature, and use a detergent with a glass protection component.

This occurs if cutlery is not sufficiently rust-resistant. Knife blades are often more severely affected. Use rust-resistant tableware. Cutlery may also rust if washed together with rusting items. Do not wash rusting items in the dishwasher.

This could indicate one of two issues:

● **Electronics have detected a fault:**

1. Press the main switch button for approx. 4 seconds to reset and restart the appliance.

2. If the problem occurs again: Switch off the appliance, pull out the mains plug or switch off the fuse, wait at least 2 minutes, then switch it back on.

3. If the problem still persists, contact customer service.

● **A software update is possibly installing:**

1. Wait until the software update has been installed. This can take approx. 30 minutes.

2. If the appliance is not ready to use after 30 minutes, perform a reset by pressing the main switch button for approx. 4 seconds. Your appliance will reset.

If your appliance does not start, check the following:

● The mains fuse has tripped. Check the relevant fuse.

● The mains cable is not inserted. Check that the socket works and that the mains cable is properly inserted in the socket and on the rear of the appliance.

● The appliance door is not closed properly. Close the appliance door.

This happens if you did not wait until the previous programme ended. You must terminate the programme first before starting a new one.

This can be caused by several factors:

● The appliance door is not closed properly. Close the appliance door.

● The power and/or water supply has been interrupted. Check the power supply and the water supply.

● The top basket is pressing against the inner door, preventing it from being closed securely. Check if the rear panel is being pressed in by a socket or hose holder. Arrange tableware so no parts project beyond the basket.

● **Door lock has been activated:** Close the appliance door with greater force.

● **Installation method prevents closing:** Check if the appliance has been installed properly. When closed, the door, its decor or attached parts should not knock against adjacent cabinets or the worktop.

● **Filling valves making knocking noises:** This is caused by the domestic installation and is not an appliance fault. It does not affect functioning and can only be remedied in the domestic installation.

● **Knocking or rattling noise:**

– A spray arm is striking tableware. Arrange tableware so that the spray arms do not strike tableware.

– With a small load, water jets directly strike the tub. Distribute the tableware evenly or load the appliance with more tableware.

– Light items of tableware move about during the wash cycle. Position light items of tableware securely.
