What is the intended use of this vacuum cleaner?

This BLACK+DECKER lithium ion cordless vacuum cleaner is designed for light, dry vacuum cleaning purposes. It is intended for household use only.

What materials should I avoid picking up?

  • Do not pick up liquids.
  • Do not pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline.
  • Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
  • Do not use in areas where flammable/combustible liquids may be present.
This vacuum is intended for dry pick up only. Do not fill the dust bowl (3) beyond the end of the intake chute.

Can I use the vacuum without the filter?

No. Do not use the vacuum without the dust bowl (3) and filter (10) in place. Optimum dust collection will only be achieved with a clean filter. Never use the appliance without its filters.

How do I mount the vacuum cleaner on the wall?

The vacuum can be attached to a wall using the base charger (6) for convenient storage and charging.
  1. Mark the location for the base charger screw holes (8) on the wall. Ensure it is within reach of an electrical outlet for charging.
  2. Choose appropriate screws and plugs for your wall type and the weight of the appliance. Fix the base charger (6) to the wall using these.
  3. Hang the appliance by placing the opening of the vacuum base over the hook (9) on the base charger.
Make sure the mounting method is suitable for the wall type and the appliance’s weight.

How do I charge the battery?

Use only the supplied charger (5). Before charging, empty the dust bowl and ensure it is dry to avoid damage.
  1. Before first use, charge the battery for at least 10 hours.
  2. Place the appliance on the charging bracket (base charger 6) whenever it is not in use.
  3. Ensure the appliance is switched off.
  4. Place the appliance onto the base charger (6).
  5. Plug the charger (5) into a standard electrical outlet (120V/60Hz).
  6. Leave the appliance to charge for at least 9 hours for subsequent charges.
NOTE: The charger may become warm while charging; this is normal. The appliance can be left connected to the charger indefinitely.

What are the recommended charging temperatures?

Do not charge the battery at ambient temperatures below 39 °F (4 °C) or above 104 °F (40 °C). Charging improperly or outside this range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.

How does the charging indicator LED work?

  • While charging, the red LED on the charger (5) will illuminate.
  • When charging is completed, the red LED will turn off.

How do I switch the vacuum on and off?

  1. To switch the appliance ON, press and hold the On/Off button (1).
  2. Release the On/Off button (1) to turn the vacuum OFF.

How do I optimize the suction force?

To keep the suction force optimized, the filters must be cleared regularly during use. Empty the dust bowl and clean the filter frequently.

How do I empty and clean the dust bowl and filter?

The filter is reusable and should be cleaned regularly.
  1. Press the bowl release button (2) and pull the dust bowl (3) straight off.
  2. Hold the dust bowl (3) over a trash can and pull out the filter (10) to empty the contents.
  3. If washing, clean the dust bowl (3) and filter (10) in warm soapy water. Ensure both are completely dry before reinstalling.
  4. Insert the cleaned (and dry) filter (10) back into the dust bowl (3).
  5. Replace the dust bowl (3) by pushing it back onto the handle until it clicks firmly into place.
Warning: Never use the appliance without the filters installed.

How do I use the accessories?

Your hand vac may come with accessories like:
  • **Brush tool (7):** Useful for furniture and stairs.
  • **Crevice tool (11):** Built into the dust bowl. To use, pull the extension piece out until it locks into position. To store it, press the release button (12) and push the crevice tool (11) back into the dust bowl.
To fit an accessory like the brush tool:
  1. Insert the accessory into the front of the dust bowl nozzle (4).
  2. Make sure the accessory is fully pushed in.

When and how should I replace the filters?

The filters (10) should be replaced every 6 to 9 months, or whenever they appear worn or damaged. Replacement filters (cat. no: HNVCF10) are available from your BLACK+DECKER dealer or website.
  1. Remove the old filter as described in the “How do I empty and clean the dust bowl and filter?” section (Steps 1 & 2).
  2. Fit the new filter as described in the same section (Steps 4 & 5).

How should I clean the main vacuum unit?

Use only mild soap and a damp cloth to clean the main body of the vacuum. Never let any liquid get inside the vacuum, and never immerse any part of it in liquid. Ensure the vacuum is completely dry before using it again.

What should I do if the vacuum cleaner doesn’t work?

If the product does not work, check the following:
  • Was the charger correctly plugged in for recharge? (It should feel slightly warm to the touch when charging).
  • Is the charger cord damaged? Is it correctly attached?

Leaks from battery cells can occur under extreme conditions. If the liquid (a 20-35% solution of potassium hydroxide) gets on your skin:
  1. Wash quickly with soap and water.
  2. Neutralize with a mild acid such as lemon juice or vinegar.
If the liquid gets into your eyes:
  1. Flush them immediately with clean water for a minimum of 10 minutes.
  2. Seek medical attention.

This product contains lithium-ion batteries. The RBRC® Seal indicates that BLACK+DECKER participates in a program to collect and recycle these batteries at the end of their useful life. Do not dispose of batteries in the regular trash. Return spent batteries to an authorized BLACK+DECKER service center or your local retailer for recycling. You can contact your local recycling center or Call 2 Recycle, Inc. (1-800-822-8837) for information on where to drop off the spent battery.

What does the Two-Year Limited Warranty cover?

Black & Decker (U.S.) Inc. warrants this product to be free from defects in material or workmanship for two (2) years from the purchase date, provided it’s used in a home environment. The warranty does not cover failures from abuse, accidental damage, or repairs attempted by unauthorized personnel. A defective product meeting warranty conditions will be replaced or repaired free of charge. You can either return it to the retailer (check their return policy, proof of purchase may be needed) or send it (prepaid) to a BLACK+DECKER owned or authorized Service Center (proof of purchase may be needed).
