These cordless vacuum cleaners have been designed for vacuum cleaning purposes and are intended for household use only. The use of any accessory or attachment or the performance of any operation with this appliance other than those recommended in this instruction manual may present a risk of personal injury. • Read all safety warnings and instructions carefully before operating.
• Do not use the appliance to pick up liquids or any materials that could catch fire.
• Do not use without dust bag and/or filters in place.

• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
• Children shall not play with the appliance.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
• Check for breakage of parts, damage to switches and any other conditions that may affect its operation. Do not use if any part is damaged or defective. Have damaged or defective parts repaired or replaced by an authorized repair agent.
• Never attempt to remove or replace any parts other than those specified in this manual.

• Unplug the charger before cleaning the charger or charging base.
• When not in use, the appliance should be stored in a dry place.
• Children should not have access to stored appliances.

• Your charger is designed for a specific voltage. Always check that the mains voltage corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.
• Warning! Never attempt to replace the charger unit with a regular mains plug.
• Use your BLACK+DECKER charger only to charge the battery in the appliance/tool with which it was supplied. Other batteries could burst.
• Never attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries.
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorised BLACK+DECKER Service Centre.
• Never pull the charger lead to disconnect the charger from the socket.
• Keep the charger lead away from heat, oil and sharp edges.
• Do not expose the charger to water.
• Do not open the charger.
• Do not probe the charger.
• The appliance/tool/battery must be placed in a well ventilated area when charging.
• The charging base is intended for indoor use only.
• BLACK+DECKER chargers require no adjustment and are designed to be easy to operate.

• To ensure maximum performance and life of lithium ion battery packs:
  • Fully charge the battery pack before first use.
  • Recharge discharged batteries as soon as possible after every use.
  • Do not fully discharge batteries.
• Warning! The charger will not charge a faulty battery pack, which may be indicated by the battery charge indicator lights (4) rapidly blinking. Take charger and battery pack to an authorized service centre if light stays OFF.
• The charger and battery pack may become warm to the touch while charging. This is normal. To facilitate cooling, avoid placing the charger or battery pack in a warm environment like a metal shed or uninsulated trailer.
• If the battery pack does not charge properly:
  1. Check operation of receptacle by plugging in a lamp or other appliance.
  2. Check if the receptacle is connected to a light switch which turns power off when lights are turned out.
  3. If charging problems persist, take the tool, battery pack and charger to your local service centre.
• You may charge a partially used pack whenever you desire with no adverse effect on the battery pack.
• Warning! Do not charge the battery at ambient temperatures below 4 °C or above 40 °C. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside of the specified range may damage the battery and increase risk of fire.

Refer to the diagrams in the manual for visual identification of parts (e.g., Fig. 2).

Follow these steps (refer to Fig. A):

1. Locate the circular charge port (7) at the rear of the hand held unit.
2. Align the circular magnetic contact (19) from the charger onto the charge point of the unit (7).
3. Plug the charger into an appropriate electrical outlet.
4. The blue LED (4) on the vacuum display will flash, indicating that the battery is being charged.
5. The blue LEDs (4) will illuminate in segments, displaying the state of charge of the unit.
6. The completion of charge is indicated by the blue LEDs (4) turning off. The unit is fully charged and may be used at this time or left on the charger.

Use only charger S033GS3300100.

The product can be attached to a wall for convenient accessory storage and charging (refer to Fig B, C).

1. Choose a mounting location suitable for the wall type and weight of the appliance.
2. Mark the location of the charging station screw holes on the wall at a height that allows the unit to hang without hitting the floor and within reach of an electrical outlet for charging.
3. Fix the charging station (18) to the wall using appropriate screws and plugs.
4. Slide the magnetic charger (19) into the charging station: Push the release button (18a) down, align the slots on the charger head (19) with the ribs on the charging station (18), and slide the head down until the release button (18a) pushes back into place. Ensure it is locked.
5. Plug the charger into an appropriate outlet.
6. Install the unit onto the charge point: Align the hook on the charging station into the slot at the rear of the unit.
7. The blue LED (4) on the vacuum will flash indicating charging.

Note: The side tool storage arms (18b) can be removed from the main unit (18) by pulling the arm firmly upwards if space is limited. To reconnect, align the arm with the locking holes and press down. Note: To remove the magnetic charger (19) from the charging base, press the release button (18a) and slide the magnetic charger up and away.

Follow these steps (refer to Fig. D):

1. Align the top of the extension tube (8) with the vacuum inlet (6).
2. Push the extension tube (8) onto the vacuum inlet (6) until it locks into position.
3. Align the bottom of the extension tube (8) with the floorhead (12).
4. Push the bottom of the extension tube (8) onto the floorhead (12) until it locks into position.

To remove the tube, press the extension pole release button (9) located on the vacuum inlet or the bottom of the extension tube and gently pull the connected accessory off.

Your vacuum may come with: 2-in-1 brush (13), Crevice tool (14), Pet head (15, WP model only), Powered pet head (16, WP model only).

• These accessories (13, 14, 15, 16) can be fitted either directly to the vacuum inlet (6) or to the extension tube (8) (refer to Fig. E).
• Align the top of the accessory with the vacuum inlet (6) or extension tube (8) and push into place until it locks.

The vacuum can be used in four configurations (refer to Fig. E1):

1. With the extension tube (8) and the floorhead (12).
2. With the floorhead (12) directly on the vacuum inlet.
3. With the extension tube (8) and an accessory tool (13, 14, 15, or 16).
4. With an accessory tool (13, 14, 15, or 16) directly on the vacuum inlet.

• Accessories (13, 14, 15) can be stored on the pole using the on-pole storage attachment (20).
• Align the pole storage clip feature (20) onto the rear of the pole.
• Push firmly so the clip is held firmly in position.
• The accessories (13, 14, 15) can be fitted directly to the on-pole storage attachment.
• Align the top of the accessories (13, 14, 15) with the pole storage attachment (20) and push into place so it locks.

Note: A maximum of two accessories can be stored on the pole storage.

• Accessories (13, 14, 15, and 16) can be fitted directly to the wall hanging charge dock (18) as shown in Fig. C.
• Align the top of the accessories (13, 14, 15, and 16) with the wall hanging charge dock arms (18b) and push into place so it locks into position.

Note: The storage side arms (18b) can be removed from the wall hook if needed. Pull the arm firmly upwards to remove. To reconnect, align the arm with the locking holes and press down.

Refer to Fig. F:

• To switch ON, push the ON/OFF button (1).
• To change speed setting, press the hard floor mode button (2) or carpet mode button (3) depending on floor type. The state of charge indicator LEDs (4) will illuminate while the vacuum is ON.
• To switch OFF, press the ON/OFF button (1) a second time.
• Return the product to the charger immediately after use so that it will be fully charged and ready for the next use. Ensure the product is fully contacting the magnetic charger plug.

Warning! Never use the vacuum without its filter. Maximum dust collection will only be obtained with clean filters and an empty dust canister. If dust falls back out after switching off, the canister is full. Note: Do not fill the dust canister beyond the MAX line. Follow these steps (refer to Fig. G, I):

1. Press button (11a) to release the dust canister (11) from the chassis.
2. Place the dust canister over a trash can.
3. Press the dust canister door release button (11b) to empty the canister.
4. Empty the contents of the dust canister (11).
5. Close the dust canister door (11c) until it clicks firmly into position.

Note: The foam/felt filter (23) is reusable. Replace filters every 6–9 months depending on use frequency. Follow these steps (refer to Fig. G, H):

1. Press button (11a) to release the dust canister (11) from the chassis.
2. Use your index finger and thumb to grip the finger tabs on the prefilter (10), and pull it from the dust canister (11). Tap the pre-filter (10) as necessary to remove debris. (Note: It fits snugly and may be difficult to remove initially).
3. Remove the foam/felt filter (23) by pulling on the foam/felt filter housing from the canister cap (24).
4. Shake off or lightly brush any loose dust from the pre-filter (10) and foam/felt filter (23).
5. Rinse out the dust canister (11) with warm soapy water.
6. Wash the foam/felt filter (23) with warm soapy water.
7. IMPORTANT: Ensure the foam/felt filter (23) is completely dry before refitting. Wash filters regularly. The cleaner the filter, the better the performance.
8. Once dry, place the clean filter (23) inside the dust canister cap (24) with the white felt side in the upwards position (the black foam side will be visible looking into the cap from the underside).
9. Install the pre-filter (10) back into the dust canister (11), ensuring the pre-filter tab aligns with the dust canister and locks in position.
10. Install the dust canister onto the vacuum until it clicks firmly into position.

Warning! To reduce the risk of injury from moving parts, disconnect the floor head and extension tube from the vacuum before cleaning or servicing. Follow these steps (refer to Fig. J, K, L):

Main Rotary Brush (26):

1. Slide the release latch (12a) on the side of the floor head (12) (Fig. J).
2. With the rotary brush (26) released, grab and pull it completely out of the floor head (12).
3. Wipe away any dust or debris on the rotary brush (26).
4. Reinstall the rotary brush into the floor head (12) by aligning it into the side opening, pushing it fully in, and aligning the keyed end with the gear located in the floor head.
5. Press firmly on the rotary brush (26) to secure it. Ensure you hear an audible click as the release latch snaps into its locked position (Fig. K).

Edge Brush (26b):

1. Unscrew the screw using the correct tool to release the edge brush (Fig. L).
2. Pull the edge brush (26b) away from the floorhead.
3. Wipe away any dust or debris on the edge brush.
4. Reinstall the edge brush by aligning the shaft into the slot in the floorhead.
5. Press firmly into place and secure with the screw. Make sure it’s held securely before use.

Warning! To reduce risk of injury, disconnect floor head and extension tube first. Warning! Soft roller (21) suitable for hard floor only. DO NOT USE on carpets or rugs. Follow these steps (refer to Fig. M):

1. Remove the rotary brush end cap (26c) from the floor head (12) by sliding the release latch (12a).
2. With the rotary brush (26) released, grab and pull it completely out of the floor head (12).
3. Hold the Rotary brush (26) and the rotary brush end cap (26c) firmly and pull them apart. They should separate easily.
4. Whilst holding the rotary brush end cap (26c), take the soft beater bar (21). Align the flat side of its metal shaft with the flat side of the hole in the end cap (26c) and slide together until they stop.
5. Reinstall the rotary brush end cap (now attached to the soft roller) into the floor head (12). Align the soft roller (21) into the side opening.
6. Push the soft roller (21) fully into the floorhead, aligning its keyed end with the gear located in the floor head (12).
7. Press firmly on the rotary brush end cap (26c) to secure it into the floor head (12). Ensure you hear an audible click as the release latch snaps into its locked position.
8. Repeat this procedure in reverse to swap back from the soft roller (21) to the standard rotary brush (26).

Follow these steps (refer to Fig. N):

1. To remove the beater bar (16b) from the pet head (16), depress the release button (16a).
2. The beater bar (16b) can now be removed.
3. The end pieces are also removable, allowing you to clear the brushes from any hair or other debris.
4. Wash the beater bar with warm soapy water. Ensure it is completely dry before reassembling.

The exhaust filter (17) can be cleaned or replaced. Replacement filters are available from BLACK+DECKER Service Centre. (Refer to Fig. O).

1. Press the exhaust filter release button (17a).
2. Withdraw the exhaust filter (17).
3. The filter can be tapped free of debris or rinsed with water.
4. Allow 24 hours to dry. Do not use soap.
5. Replace the cleaned or a new filter.

The unit can be safely stored using the charging wall dock as shown in figure C. When not in use, store in a dry place inaccessible to children.

Your cordless appliance is designed for long-term operation with minimum maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation depends on proper care and regular cleaning. Warning! Before performing maintenance:

• Run the battery down completely if it is integral and then switch off.
• Unplug the charger before cleaning it or the appliance. The charger needs no maintenance apart from regular cleaning.
• Regularly clean the ventilation slots in your appliance/charger using a soft brush or dry cloth.
• Regularly clean the motor housing using a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive or solvent-based cleaner.

The filters should be replaced every 6 to 9 months or whenever worn or damaged. Replacement filters are available from your BLACK+DECKER SERVICE CENTER (Visit http://www.2helpu.com to locate a service center).

• Remove the old filters as described in the “How do I clean the filters?” section.
• Fit the new filters following the same instructions for reassembly.

Possible Causes and Solutions:

• Battery pack not charged: Check charging requirements. Ensure it’s properly connected to the charger and the charger is plugged into a working outlet.
• Blockage: Check the floorhead tube, extension tube, and the connection between the extension tube and the vacuum bowl for obstructions. Clear any blockages found.

Possible Causes and Solutions:

• Charger not plugged in: Plug the charger into a working outlet. Refer to “Important Charging Notes” for details (check receptacle power, ensure it’s not on a switched outlet).
• Surrounding air temperature too hot or too cold: Move the charger and battery pack to an area where the temperature is between 4 °C and 40 °C (approx. 40 °F and 105 °F).
• Faulty Battery/Charger: If charging problems persist, or the charge indicator light (4) blinks rapidly or stays off, take the tool, battery pack, and charger to your local service centre.

Possible Causes and Solutions:

• Obstruction: The unit has a rotary brush overload protection feature. Check for and remove any obstructions tangled in the brush. See the “Removing and cleaning the rotary brushes” section.
• Rug or thick/loose pile carpet: The overload feature may activate on very thick or loose pile carpets. Try cleaning on the hard floor speed setting (2). If the problem persists, the surface may not be suitable for cleaning with rotary brush bars.

Possible Causes and Solutions:

• Clogged dust bowl: Empty the dust bowl. See the “Cleaning and emptying the vacuum” section.
• Filters are dirty: Clean the filters (pre-filter and foam/felt filter). See the “Cleaning the filters” section. Ensure filters are completely dry before reinstalling.
• Rotary brush needs cleaning: Clean the rotary brush. See the “Removing and cleaning the rotary brushes” section.
