The BLACK+DECKER BHFEA640W, BHFEA640WG, BHFEA640WP cordless vacuum cleaner includes some or all of the following features:

The supplied charger offers two possible ways to charge your battery:

• Unit charging
• Unit wall mounted charging

Unit charging:

1. Locate the circular charge port at the rear of the hand held unit.
2. Align the circular magnetic contact from the charger onto the charge point of the unit.
3. Plug the charger into an appropriate electrical outlet.
4. The blue LED on the vacuum display will flash indicating that the battery is being charged.
5. The blue LEDs will illuminate in segments, displaying the state of charge of the unit.
6. The completion of charge is indicated by the blue LEDs turning off. The unit is fully charged and may be used at this time or left on the charger.

Unit wall mounted charging:

1. Mark the location of the charging station screw holes on the wall.
2. Fix the charging station to the wall using appropriate screws and plugs for the type of wall, and weight of the appliance.
3. Slide the magnetic charger into the charging station. Push the release button down to align the slots on the magnetic charger head with the ribs on the charging station. Slide the magnetic head down till the release button pushes back into place. Ensure it is locked into place before proceeding.
4. Plug the charger into an appropriate outlet.
5. Install the unit onto the charge point. Align the hook on the charging station into the slot at the rear of the unit.
6. The blue LED on the vacuum will flash indicating that the battery is being charged.

1. Align the top of the extension tube with the vacuum inlet.
2. Push the extension tube onto the vacuum inlet so it locks into position.
3. Align the bottom of the extension tube with the floorhead.
4. Push the bottom of the extension tube onto the floorhead so it locks into position.
5. To remove the tube, press the extension pole release button located on the vacuum inlet or the bottom of the extension tube and gently pull the connected accessory off.

The accessories such as 2-in-1 brush, crevice tool, pet head or powered pet head can be fitted either directly to the extension tube or to the vacuum inlet.

1. Align the top of the accessory with the vacuum inlet or extension tube.
2. Push into place so it locks into position.

This vacuum can be used in one of four ways:

1. With the extension tube and the floorhead.
2. With the floorhead only.
3. With the extension tube and an accesssory tool.
4. With an accesssory tool only.

• To switch ON, push the ON/OFF button.
• To change speed setting press hard floor mode or carpet mode depending on floor type.
• To switch OFF, press the ON/OFF button a second time.

1. Align the pole storage clip feature onto the rear of the pole.
2. Push firmly so that the pole storage is held firmly in position on the pole.
3. The accessories can be fitted directly to the on pole storage attachment.
4. Align the top of the accessories with the pole storage attachment and push into place so it locks.

Note: A maximum of two accessories can be stored on the pole storage.

1. Align the top of the accessories with the wall hanging charge dock arms.
2. Push into place so it locks into position.

Note: The storage side arms can be removed from the wall hook. This is possible for the user to do if they don’t have enough space or only want to utilize one side arm.

To remove storage side arms from the charge dock, pull the arm firmly upwards. To reconnect, align the arm with the locking holes and press down.

1. Press button to release the dust canister from the chassis.
2. Place the dust canister over a trash can and press the dust canistor door release button to empty the dust canister.
3. Empty the contents of the dust canister.
4. Close the dust canister door, until it clicks firmly into position.

1. Press button to release the dust canister from the chassis.
2. Use your index finger and thumb to grip the finger tabs on the prefilter, and pull from the dust canister.
3. Tap the pre-filter as necessary to remove any debris.
4. Remove the foam/felt filter by pulling on the foam/felt filter housing.
5. Once the filters and pre-filter are removed from the dust canister shake off or lightly brush any loose dust from the pre-filter and foam/felt filter.
6. Rinse out the dust canister with warm soapy water.
7. Wash the foam/felt filter with warm soapy water.
8. Ensure the foam/felt filter is completely dry before refitting the filters into the dust cannister cap.
9. Once the filter is clean and completely dry, place them inside the dust canister cap with the white felt side in the upwards position.
10. Install the pre-filter into the dust canister ensuring the pre-filter tab aligns with the dust canister and lock in position.
11. Install the dust canister onto the vacuum, until it clicks firmly into position.

1. To remove the rotary brush from the floor head slide the release latch on the side of the floor head.
2. With the rotary brush released from the floor head, grab and pull the rotary brush completely out of the floor head to clean.
3. Wipe away any dust or debris on the rotary brush.
4. Reinstall the rotary brush into the floor head by aligning the rotary brush into the side of the floor head opening. Pushing the rotary brush fully into the floorhead and aligning the keyed end of the rotary brush with the gear located in the floor head.
5. Press firmly on the rotary brush to secure it into the floor head. Ensure you hear an audible click as the release latch snaps into its locked position.

1. Unscrew screw using the correct tool to release the edge brush.
2. Pull edge brush away from the floorhead.
3. Wipe away any dust of debris on the edge brush.
4. Reinstall the edge brush by aligning the shaft into the slot in the floorhead.
5. Press firmly into place and using screw, screw into position.
6. Make sure the edge brush is held securely in place with screw before using.

1. Remove the rotary brush end cap from the floor head by sliding the release latch on the side of the floor head.
2. With the rotary brush released from the floor head, grab and pull the rotary brush completely out of the floor head.
3. Hold the Rotary brush and the rotary brush end cap firmly and pull apart. They should separate easily.
4. Whilst holding the rotary brush end cap take the soft beater bar and align the flat side of the metal shaft with the flat side of the hole in the end of the soft beater bar and slide together until they stop.
5. Reinstall the rotary brush end cap into the floor head by aligning the soft roller into the side of the floor head opening.
6. Pushing the soft roller fully into the floorhead and aligning the keyed end of the soft roller with the gear located in the floor head.
7. Press firmly on the rotary brush end cap to secure it into the floor head. Ensure you hear an audible click as the release latch snaps into its locked position.
8. Repeat this procedure to swap back from the soft roller to the rotary brush.

1. To remove the beater bar from the pet head, depress the release button.
2. The beater bar can now be removed.
3. The end pieces are also removable allowing you to clear the brushes from any hair or other debris that may have accumulated.
4. Wash the beater bar with warm soapy water.

1. Press the exhaust filter release button.
2. Withdraw the exhaust filter.
3. The filter can be tapped free of debris or rinsed with water. Allow 24 hours to dry. Do not use soap.
4. Replace cleaned or new filter.

The unit can be safely stored using the charging wall dock.
