In general, personal data and settings are automatically transferred during a firmware update. For safety reasons, it is also recommended to save data and settings on a BERNINA USB stick before the firmware update is started. If personal data and settings should be lost during a firmware update, they can be transferred to the machine again afterwards.

Important: Before updating the firmware, read the «Instructions for Firmware Update» carefully.

This update includes the following improvements:

New Accessories Compatibility:

• New Embroidery Hoops: This update must be installed for compatibility with new embroidery hoops launching Summer 2025. These include the Medium Border Clamp Embroidery Hoop, Large Magnetic Embroidery Hoop, Medium Border Magnetic Embroidery Hoop, Medium Magnetic Embroidery Hoop, and Sock Embroidery Hoop Inserts (Standard and Mini).

• Walking Foot #50W: The redesigned Walking Foot can be used on all machines featuring a stitch width of 9 mm. To use the full stitch width, the presser foot must be selected in the presser foot selection. This presser foot is expected to be available by the end of 2025.

Performance Improvements:

• Freezing when using letters in the stitch designer has been rectified.

• Color display of embroidery threads in the «Embroidery» mode is more accurate.

• The firmware update complies with regulatory safety requirements.

This update included the following improvements:

Functional Improvements:

• Consultant: If a sewing technique with BISR is selected, the machine switches directly to «BERNINA Integrated Stitch Regulator» mode when the settings are accepted.

• BISR Firmware: It is now possible to update the BISR firmware. The BISR firmware is updated when the «BERNINA Integrated Stitch Regulator» mode is activated after updating the machine firmware.

• WiFi Connections: WiFi connection is now possible with Hidden Networks.

• Lettering: If adjusted settings are applied in the «Styling» function, the confirm button is displayed in gray.

• Quick Help: Missing Quick Help messages have been added.

Performance Improvements:

• Combi Mode: Stitch errors that caused the machine to freeze in Combi Mode with various stitch combinations have been fixed.

• Shape Designer: The «Shape Designer» function has been improved to better close items in circular formations.

• Design Position: Errors in the calculation of stitches and saving for restart have been corrected. This prevents the machine from losing the correct placement of embroidery designs after a restart.

• General Improvements: Overall performance of embroidery designs with multiple layers, Customizable Lettering, and the WiFi function has been improved.

Functional Improvements:

• Messages from bobbin thread indicator: The bobbin thread indicator functionality has been improved and should no longer produce incorrect messages in combination with the BISR.

• Detection of the BISR: The BISR is now recognized when the machine is started, resolving an issue where it could take a long time for the BISR to be recognized.

• Search for embroidery designs: Searching for files in the Embroidery File Manager now also searches subfolders of the current folder. To search all files on the machine and from the USB, the top folder «Embroidery» must be selected.

Performance Improvements:

• Function «Show Start/Stop»: Performance has been improved when the «Show Start/Stop» function is activated in embroidery functions, addressing the slowdown that could occur when many designs were being shown or repeated.

• Scanning the Hoop: A bug that could cause the machine to freeze after scanning the Giant embroidery frame has been fixed.

• Freezing the machine: A bug that caused machine freezes due to an internal connection error has been fixed.

• User Interface: The user interface has been further improved and minor bugs have been fixed.
