When using your BEAUTIFUL 19017 coffee maker, basic safety precautions should always be followed:

1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS.

2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs only.

3. This coffee maker is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, unless they have been given supervision or instruction by a person responsible for their safety.

4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.

5. To minimize the risk of property damage, never place the coffee maker under cabinets. Ensure the area above the coffee maker is clear.

6. Do not open the coffee maker lid while coffee is brewing to prevent scalding.

7. Do not use outdoors.

8. Unplug the unit from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow it to cool before handling parts.

9. To protect against fire or electrical shock, do not immerse the cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquids.

10. Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug. Contact Consumer Service if the appliance malfunctions or is damaged.

11. Use only recommended accessory attachments.

12. Never move the appliance by pulling the cord. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or touch hot surfaces.

13. Stand the appliance on a flat, stable surface.

14. Do not use a cracked glass carafe or one with a loose or weakened handle.

15. Only use the glass carafe provided with this appliance.

16. Snap the lid securely onto the glass carafe before serving coffee.

17. Never use your coffee maker without water in the water reservoir.

18. Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.

19. Do not set a hot glass carafe on a wet or cold surface.

20. Do not clean the glass carafe with cleaners, steel wool pads, or other abrasive materials.

21. To interrupt the brewing cycle, press the Brew/Off button. Unplug the power cord when not in use, unattended, or when the carafe is empty.

1. Remove all packing material and labels from the inside and outside of the BEAUTIFUL 19017 coffee maker. Place the unit on a flat, clean surface.

2. Before preparing coffee, thoroughly clean the glass carafe, carafe lid, removable filter basket, permanent filter basket, and coffee scoop in hot, sudsy water. Rinse and dry. The carafe, carafe lid, removable filter basket holder, and permanent filter basket are all top-rack dishwasher safe. The coffee scoop should be placed in the dishwasher alongside cutlery.

3. Clean the inside of the coffee maker by brewing 2 full carafes of tap water. Do not add the permanent filter basket or ground coffee for this initial cleaning.

4. Attach the charcoal filter into its location on the base of the water reservoir.

1. Lift the coffee maker lid to view the stepped water level indicator. Make sure the charcoal filter is attached to the base of the water reservoir.

2. Fill the carafe with cold tap or distilled water and carefully pour it into the water reservoir. Do not exceed the 14-cup step.

3. Close the carafe lid and place the empty carafe into position on the warming plate.

4. Drop the removable filter basket into the housing.

5. Place the permanent filter basket on a flat, clean surface. Use the coffee scoop to add 1 scoop of ground coffee for every cup of coffee, adjusting to your personal preference.

6. Drop the coffee-filled permanent filter basket into the removable filter basket holder. Fold the permanent filter basket handle down.

7. Close the lid.

8. Plug the power cord into a 3-prong 120V AC electrical outlet. The default time of 12:00 AM will flash. Press the BREW/OFF button to start brewing immediately.

1. To brew coffee immediately, press BREW/OFF. By default, ‘Regular’ brew will illuminate.

2. When brewing is complete, 3 audible tones will sound. The coffee maker will display 0:00 and advance to KEEP WARM mode, counting up to 4:00 hours.

3. At the end of the KEEP WARM cycle, 2 audible tones will sound, and the coffee maker will turn itself OFF.

NOTE: You can press BREW/OFF at any time to turn the coffee maker OFF.

1. When the coffee maker is plugged in, the default time of 12:00 AM will begin to flash.

2. Press the ‘–’ button to adjust the HOUR. Pay attention to the AM and PM setting.

3. Press the ‘+’ button to adjust the MINUTES.

4. To re-set the clock later, press SELECT until CLOCK illuminates, then the time will flash. Use the ‘+’ or ‘–’ buttons to adjust the time.

NOTE: The coffee maker will advance to sleep mode within 20 seconds if no buttons are pressed.

The coffee maker can be programmed to begin brewing up to 24 hours in the future.

1. First, set up the coffee maker to brew: Fill the water reservoir, add fresh ground coffee to the permanent filter basket, close the lid, and place the empty carafe on the warming plate.

2. Press and hold the PROGRAM button for 1.5 seconds. The last programmed FUTURE BREW TIME will begin to flash.

3. Press ‘–’ to adjust the HOUR and ‘+’ to adjust the MINUTES. Pay attention to the AM and PM setting.

4. Press the PROGRAM button or wait 5 seconds to confirm the time. Only the PROGRAM button will remain illuminated.

5. When the pre-programmed time is reached, brewing will begin.

6. To start the brew at the same time the next day, simply press the PROGRAM button, and it will illuminate.

Brew/Off: When pressed, the control panel illuminates. Press it again to start brewing. Press at any time to turn the coffee maker OFF.

Program: Press and hold for 1.5 seconds to set the FUTURE BREW TIME.

– and + Buttons: Press ‘–’ to adjust the HOUR. Press ‘+’ to adjust the MINUTES. Press and hold to fast reverse or fast advance the time.

Select: Press to cycle through and set Strength, 1-4 cups, Clock, Clean, or Keep Warm settings.

Brew Strength:

1. Press SELECT until STRENGTH illuminates.

2. Press ‘+’ or ‘–’ to choose from 3 brew strengths: Regular, Gourmet, or Bold. The active strength is displayed on the control panel. The last chosen strength will be the default for the next brew.

1-4 Cup Mode:

1. This option must be programmed immediately before brewing. Press SELECT until 1-4 CUPS illuminates.

2. When brewing 1 to 4 (5 oz.) cups, this option automatically adjusts the brewing process for maximum flavor. The entire water reservoir will still be used.

3. Press the BREW/OFF button to begin brewing.

Keep Warm:

1. The KEEP WARM time defaults to 4 hours but can be adjusted from 0 to 4 hours.

2. Press SELECT until KEEP WARM illuminates.

3. Press ‘+’ or ‘–’ to adjust the KEEP WARM time.

The Pause & Serve feature on your BEAUTIFUL 19017 allows you to pour a cup of coffee before the entire carafe is brewed. When you remove the carafe, a flow valve stops the coffee from dripping. When you return the carafe to the warming plate, the dripping will resume.

CAUTION: To prevent overflow, you must replace the carafe under the filter basket within 30 seconds of removing it.

1. Always make sure the coffee maker is unplugged and the warming plate is cool before cleaning.

2. After every use, remove the permanent filter basket, discard used coffee grounds, and rinse it thoroughly.

3. Wash the removable filter basket and glass carafe in hot, sudsy water. The carafe, carafe lid, removable filter basket holder, and permanent filter basket are all top-rack dishwasher safe.

4. Wipe the coffee maker exterior with a damp cloth. For stubborn stains, use a nylon or plastic pad with a non-abrasive cleanser.

5. Dry and replace disassembled parts, ensuring the removable filter basket is properly seated in the housing.

6. Close the lid.

The CLEAN cycle should be run every 300 uses, or when the CLEAN light flashes on the display. The entire cycle takes 45 to 60 minutes.

1. Before running CLEAN, remove the charcoal filter and filter holder from the water reservoir. Also remove the permanent filter basket and removable filter basket.

2. Combine 6 cups of white vinegar and 4 cups of cold water in the carafe.

3. Pour the vinegar solution into the water reservoir and close the coffee maker lid.

4. Place the empty carafe onto the warming plate.

5. Press SELECT until CLEAN illuminates, then press BREW/OFF. An audible tone will sound as the cycle begins. The display will show CLEAN and the remaining cleaning time.

6. Part of the mixture will pass through, then the remaining mixture will be held in the coffee maker and dispensed periodically for 45 minutes.

7. At the end of the CLEAN cycle, 3 audible tones will sound, CLEAN will disappear from the display, and the coffee maker will turn off automatically.

8. Discard the solution in the carafe. Wash the carafe, removable filter basket, and permanent filter basket in hot, sudsy water.

9. Brew 2 or 3 carafes of fresh water through the coffee maker to rinse it.

10. Dry parts thoroughly and reassemble the coffee maker.

To turn the beep sound off, press SELECT until the sound icon flashes. Press the ‘–’ button. The sound icon will be displayed next to the time on the control panel, indicating the sound is off.

To turn the beep on, press SELECT until the sound icon flashes. Press the ‘+’ button. The sound icon will disappear with one beep sound, indicating the sound is on.

When the FILTER icon is illuminated on the control panel, it indicates that the charcoal filter needs to be replaced. To eliminate the FILTER icon after replacing the filter, press SELECT until FILTER flashes. Then, press the ‘–’ or ‘+’ button. The FILTER icon will disappear from the control panel.

• A clean coffee maker is essential. Regular cleaning as described in the CLEAN section is highly recommended.

• Always use fresh, cold water.

• Finer grinds promote fuller extraction and provide rich, full-bodied coffee.

• For optimum taste, program your coffee maker to brew to your preferred strength: Regular, Gourmet, or Bold.

• For optimum flavor, buy whole beans and grind them just before brewing.

• Do not re-use coffee grounds, as this will greatly impair coffee flavor.

• Reheating coffee is not recommended. Coffee is at its peak flavor immediately after brewing.

1. Never store the coffee maker while it is still plugged in.

2. Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely.

3. Store the coffee maker fully assembled, with the permanent and removable filter baskets in position. Place the carafe on the warming tray and close the lid.

4. Use the cord storage area located on the bottom of the coffee maker to store the cord.

5. Store the coffee maker in its box or in a cool, dry place.
