What are the general safety instructions for using the ASKO HID956MC induction hob?
Before using your ASKO HID956MC induction hob, please read the following safety instructions:
General Safety:
• The appliance is not intended to be operated by an external timer or separate remote-control system.
• Do not use steam cleaners or high-pressure cleaners, as this may result in an electric shock.
• The cooking process must be supervised. A short-term cooking process must be supervised continuously.
• Do not place metallic objects like knives, forks, spoons, and lids on the hob surface as they can get hot.
• After use, switch off the hob element using its control and do not rely solely on the pan detector.
Danger of Fire:
• Do not store items on the cooking surfaces.
• Unattended cooking on a hob with fat or oil can be dangerous and may result in a fire. NEVER try to extinguish a fire with water; switch off the appliance and cover the flame with a lid or a fire blanket.
Households with Children and People with Special Needs:
• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced capabilities if they have been given supervision or instruction. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
• The appliance and its accessible parts become hot during use. Care should be taken to avoid touching heating elements. Children younger than 8 years of age shall be kept away unless continuously supervised.
Risk of Electric Shock:
• If the surface is cracked, switch off the appliance to avoid the possibility of electric shock.
How does the cooking-time limiter on the ASKO HID956MC work?
The cooking-time limiter on your ASKO HID956MC is a safety function that automatically switches off a cooking zone if you forget to do so. The time until shut-off depends on the power level setting. Cooking zone related timers take priority over the cooking-time limiter.
| Setting | The cooking zone switches off automatically after: |
|---|---|
| 1 and 2 | 9 hours |
| 3, 4 and 5 | 6 hours |
| 6, 7 and 8 | 4 hours |
| 9 | 3 hours |
| 10 | 2 hours |
| 11 and 12 | 1 hour |
Additionally, the boost setting has its own limiter:
| Setting | The cooking zone switches automatically to setting 12 after: |
|---|---|
| boost | 10 minutes |
How do I operate the touch controls on the ASKO HID956MC hob?
To operate the touch controls on your ASKO HID956MC hob, follow these tips:
• Place the tip of your finger flat on the control for the best results. You do not need to apply any pressure.
• The touch sensors react only to the light pressure of a fingertip. Do not use other objects.
• The cooking hob is operated by a circular slider. You can either touch a specific part of the slider or slide your finger in a circular motion to adjust the power level and temperature (clockwise to increase, anti-clockwise to decrease).
• When you touch the slider, the selected power level will appear on the cooking zone display, and that part of the slider will be fully lit.
How does the power management system on the ASKO HID956MC work?
The ASKO HID956MC induction hob is equipped with a smart power management system to ensure the maximum permissible power is not exceeded. Here is how it works:
• The system automatically distributes power across the cooking zones. If you increase the power level of one zone, the hob might automatically decrease the power on another zone to stay within the limit.
• When power levels are automatically reduced, the relevant control element will flash to indicate the change.
• If a zone is used for Celsius°Cooking™, it will always receive the highest priority for power.
• Intervention by the power management system is more likely when the current limiter is set to a lower level by a qualified installer.
What kind of pans should I use with the ASKO HID956MC induction hob?
Induction cooking on the ASKO HID956MC requires pans of a particular quality. Use only pans suitable for induction cooking with a thick (minimum 2.25 mm) and flat base. Pans that have been used on a gas hob are no longer suitable. You can test if your pans are suitable by using a magnet; if the magnet is attracted to the base of the pan, it is suitable.
| Suitable | Unsuitable |
|---|---|
| Special stainless steel pans | Earthenware |
| Class Induction | Stainless steel (non-magnetic) |
| Hard-wearing enamelled pans | Porcelain |
| Enamelled cast-iron pans | Copper |
| Plastic | |
| Aluminium |
Warning for enamelled sheet-steel pans:
• The enamel may chip if you switch the hob on at a high setting when the pan is dry.
• The base of the pan may warp due to overheating.
• Always heat up enamelled pans slowly.
Never use pans with a misshapen, hollow, or rounded base, as this can interfere with the overheating protection and may lead to the glass top cracking or the pan base melting.

What are the Move, Automatic Bridging, and Chef Mode functions on the ASKO HID956MC?
Move function: If you remove a pan from an active cooking zone and place it on a different one within 6 seconds, you can transfer all settings (timer, power level) to the new zone. To do this, simply touch the slider of the new cooking zone. The old zone will then be deactivated.
Automatic cooking zone bridging: When a large pan is placed over two adjacent square cooking zones, the hob automatically detects it and merges them into a single large cooking zone. The power level is displayed on both zones but can only be adjusted on the left or upper slider. You can manually bridge or un-bridge the zones by touching the two corresponding sliders at the same time.
Chef mode (on select models): This mode divides the hob into three zones with preset power levels. To activate, touch two sliders at the same time for 3 seconds (when all zones are inactive).
• Left-hand side zones: Power level 12
• Middle zones: Power level 7
• Right-hand side zones: Power level 1
Power levels can then be adjusted manually. To turn off Chef mode, tap any two sliders at the same time. How do the Pause and Recall functions work on the ASKO HID956MC?
