Before using your ASKO HID956MFC, please read the safety instructions first.

General Safety:

– The appliance is not intended to be operated by an external timer or separate remote-control system.

– If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard.

– Do not use steam cleaners or high-pressure cleaners, as this may result in an electric shock.

– The cooking process must be supervised. A short-term cooking process must be supervised continuously.

– Metallic objects such as knives, forks, spoons, and lids should not be placed on the hob surface as they can get hot.

– After use, switch off the hob element by its control and do not rely solely on the pan detector.

Danger of Fire:

– Do not store items on the cooking surfaces.

– Unattended cooking on a hob with fat or oil can be dangerous and may result in a fire. NEVER try to extinguish a fire with water; switch off the appliance and cover the flame with a lid or a fire blanket.

Households with Children and People with Special Needs:

– This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning safe use.

– Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

– The appliance and its accessible parts become hot during use. Care should be taken to avoid touching heating elements. Children younger than 8 years of age shall be kept away unless continuously supervised.

Risk of Electric Shock:

– If the surface is cracked, switch off the appliance to avoid the possibility of electric shock.

The cooking-time limiter is a safety function on your ASKO HID956MFC that operates if you forget to switch off your hob. The cooking zone will switch off automatically after a certain period, depending on the power setting.

The cooking-time limiter for a specific cooking zone is reset when you change its cooking level. Note that cooking zone related timers take priority over the cooking-time limiter.

– Place the tip of your finger flat on the control for the best results. You do not need to apply any pressure.

– The touch sensors only react to the light pressure of a fingertip. Do not use other objects.

– The cooking hob is operated by a slider. You can either touch a part of the slider or slide in a circular motion to change the power level.

– To set the cooking zone power level, touch the desired spot on the slider. The selected power level will appear on the display, and the selected part of the slider will be fully lit.

Induction cooking requires a particular quality of pan. Pans that have been used on a gas hob are no longer suitable for use on an induction hob. Only use pans suitable for induction cooking with a thick base (minimum 2.25 mm) and a flat base.

You can check if your pans are suitable by using a magnet. A pan is suitable if the base of the pan is sufficiently attracted to the magnet.

Be careful with enamelled sheet-steel pans as the enamel may chip if you switch the hob on at a high setting when the pan is dry, the base may warp due to overheating, and they should be heated up slowly.

Never use pans with a misshapen, hollow, or rounded base. The minimum pan diameter is 12 cm.

The settings depend on the quantity and composition of the food. The following table is a guideline:

Touch the on/off key to switch on the hob. A short beep will sound. Rings on all sliders will light up, then gradually fade out. The slider will only remain lit on cooking zones where pans are placed. To switch a cooking zone off, slide backwards on its slider or touch the empty area on the top right of the slider. The entire hob will power off if no cooking zone is active for 60 seconds.

The Child Lock prevents the hob from being switched on inadvertently. It should be activated before cleaning to avoid accidental switching.

To activate:

1. Turn on the hob by pressing the on/off key.

2. Touch the on/off key again and hold it for 3 seconds.

3. The indication ‘L’ will appear on the display, and the hob controls will be locked.

To deactivate:

Proceed in the same way. The indication ‘L’ along with the sliders will appear on all cooking zones with pans, and the hob controls will be unlocked.

The Boost function allows you to rapidly heat large amounts of food using extra power. It is active for no more than 10 minutes, after which the power level automatically decreases to 12.

Activating Boost:

First, activate power level 12. Then, press the button for power level 12 a second time. “boost” will appear on the display. Alternatively, activate power level 12 and then slide a little beyond it clockwise. If auto boost is activated in the settings, boost is always activated together with power level 12.

Deactivating Boost:

To deactivate, press level 12 again or select any other power level on the slider.

Two adjacent square cooking zones can be merged into a single large cooking zone. When you switch the hob on and place a large pan covering two zones, the pan recognition function will automatically connect the bridge cooking zones. The power level or temperature is displayed on both bridged zones but can only be adjusted on the left or upper slider. You can manually bridge or un-bridge the zones by touching the two corresponding sliders at the same time.

The Pause function can be used to pause the operation of the entire hob for up to 10 minutes, allowing you to walk away or clean the hob without losing your settings.

Switching on the pause:

1. At least one cooking zone must be active.

2. Touch the pause button (II). You will hear a short beep.

3. The settings on all active hobs are reduced to level 2, and all timer functions are paused.

4. All keys are inactive except the pause and on/off keys. If no key is pressed within 10 minutes, all active hobs automatically turn off.

Switching off the pause:

Press the pause key again within 10 minutes. The hob will continue to operate with the same settings as before the break, and timers will be unpaused.

Each cooking zone has a count-down timer and a stopwatch (count-up timer).

Setting the Count-down timer:

1. Press the count-down timer selector key for the desired active cooking zone. The key and 0:00 will flash on the display.

2. Set the desired cooking time with + and –.

3. If the time is not set within five seconds, the timer is disabled.

When the time expires, the cooking zone will switch off, and an alarm will sound. To stop the alarm, press the count-down timer selector key or remove the pan.

Using the Stopwatch:

The stopwatch starts counting automatically in the background when you use a cooking zone. To view it, press the stopwatch key. To reset it, press and hold the stopwatch key for 3 seconds.

The PLUS menu provides semi-automatic programs for temperature-controlled cooking with standard cookware. Always add water, oil, or butter before starting a program; do not use an empty pan.

1. Touch the PLUS menu key to display the program line: keeping warm/heating up, frying/wok, and grill.

2. Choose a program by touching the relevant symbol.

3. Set the temperature with the slider.

4. The program activates after 3 seconds of inactivity. To deactivate, press the active program key for about three seconds or select a power level manually.

Programs:

– Keeping warm and Heating up: Melt chocolate (45 °C), keep food warm (70 °C), simmer (94 °C), or bring to boil (100 °C).

– Frying/wok: Cook vegetables, fish, bacon, meat, fried potatoes, or eggs using butter or oil.

– Grill: Exclusively for bridged cooking zones. Optimized for ASKO grill plates and teppanyaki.

Celsius°Cooking™ uses connected cookware or a probe to measure and control temperature precisely via Bluetooth.

Preparing the Probe:

1. Pull the battery protection tab out of the probe housing. To replace the battery, unscrew the cover, replace the battery (negative (-) side in first), and replace the cover without overtightening.

2. Slide the suspension bracket over your pan’s edge. Slide the probe into the bracket. The tip of the probe should be at least 1 cm from the pan bottom.

Preparing Celsius°Cooking™ Cookware (Pan/Pot):

1. Insert an AAA battery into the panhandle (negative (-) end goes in first).

2. Insert the handle cap end into the panhandle and turn it a quarter to secure.

Assigning Cookware to a Cooking Zone:

1. Switch on the hob.

2. Place the Celsius°Cooking™ cookware or a regular pot with the probe on a desired cooking zone.

3. After the pan is detected, quickly tap twice on the handle cap sensor or the probe housing to activate it.

4. The Celsius°Cooking™ mode key will light up on every possible cooking zone. Press the key on the needed cooking zone to assign it.

5. The Celsius°Cooking™ menu will open with applicable programs (Heating up/frying, Boiling, Slow cooking/sous vide).

If you have a compatible RF-enabled hood, you can connect it to your hob. To pair, see the ‘hth’ (Hob to Hood) parameter in the Settings chapter.

Switching extraction on and off:

– Press the ‘+’ key for a higher fan setting. Press and hold ‘+’ for 1 second to select the highest setting.

– Press the ‘–’ key to select a lower setting.

Switching the light on and off:

– Press the light key to switch it on at maximum strength.

– Press the light key again to turn it off.

– Press and hold the light key to set the lighting intensity.

Changing the colour lighting temperature:

– Press the light key together with the ‘–’ key to make the light ‘colder’.

– Press the light key together with the ‘+’ key to make the light ‘warmer’.

Synchro settings (Start, Control, Stop) can be configured in the main Settings menu to automate hood operation based on hob usage.

Preparation:

1. Know your home Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password (only 2.4Ghz networks are supported).

2. Have the QR code with the appliance’s unique ID (AUID) accessible.

3. Ensure Wi-Fi is activated on the hob (the Wi-Fi key should be visible). To activate, switch the hob off, then touch the on/off key for 5 seconds until a beep sounds and the Wi-Fi key appears.

4. Install the ConnectLife app on your mobile device and register/log in to your account.

Connection Setup:

1. In the ConnectLife app, select “Add appliances”, choose “Hob”, and follow the instructions.

2. Scan the AUID QR code when prompted.

3. On the hob (while not cooking), touch the Wi-Fi key for 3 seconds to enter the Wi-Fi menu.

4. When ‘C’ (connection) is shown, touch the Wi-Fi key to activate Connection Setup Mode. ‘C’ will flash.

5. Follow the remaining instructions in the app to connect your mobile device to the hob’s network and then share your home network details.

1. With no pans on any zone, touch any slider with two fingers and keep it pressed for 3 seconds.

2. You can now toggle through the different settings using the slider.

3. To view or change a setting, touch the slider element with one finger and keep it pressed for 3 seconds.

4. Toggle to the desired value for that setting.

5. After 3 seconds of inactivity, the new setting will be confirmed.

To exit the menu, press with two fingers anywhere on the slider for 3 seconds.

Set the locking function (Child Lock) before you start cleaning. It is recommended to clean the appliance after each use to prevent cooked-on food from damaging the glass surface. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, steel wool, scourers, or any sharp objects.

Daily cleaning:

1. Use a damp cloth and a mild cleaning agent (washing-up liquid) to clean the appliance.

2. Dry the appliance with a paper towel or a cloth.

For heavily polluted glass:

1. Immediately remove any food remains, burned grease, or sugar with a scraper, even if the hob is still hot.

2. Hold the scraper at a 45° to 60° angle to the glass and gently slide it over the surface to remove the dirt.

3. After removing stubborn stains, clean the hob as per the daily cleaning instructions.

4. If necessary, a special intensive cleaner for ceramic/induction hobs can be used.

If your appliance does not work properly, first check the points mentioned in the troubleshooting table. If you see a crack in the glass top, switch the hob off immediately, unplug it, and contact the service department.
