Before using your ASKO HID865MC induction hob, please read the following safety instructions:

• The cooking process must be supervised. A short-term cooking process has to be supervised continuously.

• Metallic objects such as knives, forks, spoons, and lids should not be placed on the hob surface as they can get hot.

• After use, switch off the hob element by its control and do not rely solely on the pan detector.

• The appliance and its accessible parts become hot during use. Care should be taken to avoid touching heating elements. Children younger than 8 years of age shall be kept away unless continuously supervised.

• If the surface is cracked, switch off the appliance to avoid the possibility of electric shock.

• Unattended cooking on a hob with fat or oil can be dangerous and may result in fire. NEVER try to extinguish a fire with water, but switch off the appliance and then cover the flame e.g., with a lid or a fire blanket.

• Do not store items on the cooking surfaces due to the danger of fire.

• Do not use steam cleaners or high-pressure cleaners to clean the appliance.

The cooking-time limiter on your ASKO HID865MC is a safety function that operates if you forget to switch off your hob. The cooking zone will switch off automatically after a certain period, depending on the power level setting. Cooking zone related timers take priority over the cooking-time limiter.

To operate the touch controls on your ASKO HID865MC:

• Place the tip of your finger flat on the control to achieve the best results. You do not have to apply any pressure.

• The touch sensors only react to the light pressure of a fingertip. Do not operate the controls with any other objects.

• The cooking hob is operated by a slider. You can either touch the selected part of the slider or slide in a circular motion clockwise to increase or anti-clockwise to decrease the power level and temperature.

• To set the cooking zone power level, touch the desired spot on the slider. As you touch the slider, the selected power level will appear on the cooking zone display unit.

• The selected part of the slider will be fully lit.

The ASKO HID865MC is equipped with a smart power management system to ensure the maximum permissible power is not exceeded. Here is how it works:

• The system automatically arranges power distribution across the zones. It may decrease the power on one zone when the power level of another is increased.

• If the combined zones reach the maximum available power when a new power level is set, the power levels of one or more zones are automatically reduced. This is indicated by the flashing of the relevant control element.

• When a zone is used for Celsius°Cooking, it always gets the highest priority.

• Intervention by the power management system is more likely when the current limiter is set to a lower level.

Induction cooking on the ASKO HID865MC requires a particular quality of pan. Use pans suitable for induction cooking with a thick base (minimum 2.25 mm) and a flat base. Pans that have been used on a gas hob are no longer suitable. You can check if your pans are suitable by using a magnet; if the base of the pan is sufficiently attracted to the magnet, it is suitable.

Be careful with enamelled sheet-steel pans as the enamel may chip if the hob is on a high setting when the pan is dry, and the base may warp due to overheating. Heat up enamelled pans slowly.

The power level settings on your ASKO HID865MC are designed for different cooking purposes. The settings depend on the quantity and composition of the contents of the pan, so the table below is a guideline only.

To switch the hob on, touch the on/off key. A short beep will be emitted. Rings on all sliders will light up, then gradually fade out. The slider will only remain lit on the cooking zones where pans are placed.

When no cooking zone is active for 60 seconds, the cooking hob will power off automatically.

To switch a cooking zone off, slide backwards on its slider or touch the empty area on top of the slider at the right side.

The Child Lock prevents the hob from being switched on inadvertently. It should also be activated before cleaning to avoid accidental switching.

To activate the Child Lock:

1. Turn on the hob by pressing the on/off key.

2. Touch the on/off key and hold it for 3 seconds.

3. The indication ‘L’ will appear on the display unit, and the hob controls will be locked.

To deactivate the Child Lock:

1. Proceed in the same way. The indication ‘L’ together with the sliders will appear on all cooking zones where pans are present, and the hob controls will be unlocked.

The Boost function allows you to rapidly heat large amounts of food using extra power. Boost is active for no more than 10 minutes; then, the power level automatically decreases to 12. If the hob is not too hot, the boost can be reactivated for another 10 minutes after it is switched off.

Activating Boost:

• First, activate power level 12. Then, press the button for power level 12 a second time. “boost” will appear on the display.

• Alternatively, activate power level 12 and slide a little beyond the button 12.

• If auto boost is activated in the Settings, boost is always activated together with power level 12.

Deactivating Boost:

• To deactivate, press level 12 again or any other power level on the slider.

Move function: If you remove a pan from an active cooking zone and place it on a different zone within 6 seconds, all timer and cooking-related settings can be transferred. To confirm the transfer, touch the slider of the new cooking zone. The previous zone will then be deactivated.

Automatic cooking zone bridging: Two adjacent square cooking zones can be automatically merged into a single large cooking zone when a large pan is placed on them (the hob must already be switched on). The power level is adjusted on the left or upper slider. You can also manually bridge or un-bridge zones by touching the two corresponding sliders at the same time.

Chef mode (only on specific models): In this mode, the hob is divided into three zones with pre-set power levels. To activate, touch two sliders at the same time for 3 seconds when all zones are inactive.

• Left-hand side zones: Power level 12

• Middle cooking zones: Power level 7

• Right-hand side cooking zones: Power level 1

Power levels can then be adjusted to any value. To turn off this mode, tap any two sliders at the same time. Please lift pans when moving them, do not slide them.

Pause function:

The pause function can pause the entire hob for up to 10 minutes.

• Switching on pause: With at least one zone active, touch the pause button (II). A short beep will sound. All active hobs will be reduced to level 2, and all timers will be paused. All keys are inactive except the pause and on/off keys.

• Switching off pause: Press the pause key again within 10 minutes. The hob will resume operation with the previous settings.

Recall function:

This feature recalls all settings if the hob was accidentally switched off.

• Within 6 seconds of the hob being switched off, switch it back on.

• Press anywhere on the slider within 6 seconds to recall all the settings from before the appliance was last switched off.

Your ASKO HID865MC has a count-down timer and a stopwatch for each cooking zone.

Count-down timer:

This timer automatically switches off a cooking zone after the set time expires.

1. Press the count-down timer selector key for the desired active cooking zone. The key and 0:00 will flash on the display.

2. Set the desired cooking time with + and –.

3. If the time is not set within five seconds, the timer is disabled.

To deactivate the timer, press the icon for the selected zone and hold it for 3 seconds. When the timer expires, an alarm will sound. Press the timer selector key or remove the pan to stop the alarm.

Stopwatch (Cooking time display):

The stopwatch automatically starts counting when you start cooking on a zone.

• Press the stopwatch key to display the time.

• The stopwatch can be reset by pressing the stopwatch key for 3 seconds.

The PLUS menu provides semi-automatic programs for temperature-controlled cooking. Always add water, oil, or butter before starting a program; do not use an empty pan.

1. Touch the PLUS menu key to display the program line: keeping warm/heating up, frying/wok, and grill (in bridge mode).

2. Choose a program by touching the relevant symbol.

3. Set the desired temperature with the slider.

4. The program activates after 3 seconds of inactivity. During the heating-up stage, the slider and set temperature will flash. A short beep will indicate when the set temperature is reached.

To deactivate a PLUS program, press the active program key for about three seconds or select a power level manually.

Program Functions:

• Keeping warm and Heating up: Melt chocolate (45 °C), keep food warm (70 °C), simmer (94 °C), or bring to a boil (100 °C).

• Frying/wok: Cook vegetables, fish, bacon, meat, fried potatoes, or eggs using butter or oil.

• Grill: Exclusively for bridged cooking zones. Optimized for ASKO grill plate and teppanyaki accessories.

Celsius°Cooking™ accessories (Probe, Frying Pan, Chef’s Pot) allow for precise temperature control using a Bluetooth connection.

Preparing the Probe:

1. Pull the battery protection tab out of the probe housing.

2. To replace the battery, unscrew the battery cover, replace the battery (negative (-) side in first), and replace the cover without overtightening.

3. To use, slide the suspension bracket over the pan edge and slide the probe into the bracket. The tip of the probe should be at least 1 cm from the pan bottom.

Preparing the Cookware (Pan/Pot):

1. Insert an AAA battery in the panhandle (negative (-) end in first).

2. Insert the handle cap end and turn it a quarter to secure.

Assigning Cookware to a Cooking Zone:

1. Switch on the hob.

2. Place the Celsius°Cooking™ cookware or a regular pot with the probe on a desired zone.

3. After it’s detected, quickly tap twice on the handle cap sensor or probe housing to activate it.

4. The Celsius°Cooking™ mode key will light up on every possible zone. Press the key on the needed cooking zone to assign it and open the menu.

If you have a compatible RF-enabled hood, you can connect it to your ASKO HID865MC hob for integrated control. Pairing is done via the ‘hth’ (Hob to Hood) parameter in the Settings menu.

Switching extraction on and off:

• Press the + key for a higher fan setting. Press and hold + for 1 second for the highest setting.

• Press the – key to select a lower setting.

Switching the light on and off:

• Press the light key to switch the light on at maximum strength.

• Press the light key again to turn it off.

• Press and hold the light key to set the lighting intensity.

Changing the colour lighting temperature:

• Press the light key together with the – key to make the light ‘colder’.

• Press the light key together with the + key to make the light ‘warmer’.

Automatic Functions (Synchro Settings):

• Synchro Start: Automatically activates the lights and fan when a cooking zone is activated.

• Synchro Control: Automatically controls the hood fan speed based on the highest activated cooking level.

• Synchro Stop: Switches off the lights and fan (with a delay) when the hob is switched off.

To connect your hob to your home network, you need the ConnectLife app on a mobile device.

Preparation:

1. Know your home Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password (only 2.4Ghz networks are supported).

2. Ensure Wi-Fi is activated on the hob (the Wi-Fi key should be visible when the hob is on). To activate, switch off the hob, then touch the on/off key for 5 seconds.

3. Install the ConnectLife app and log in to your account.

Connection Setup:

1. In the app, select “Add appliances”, choose “Hob”, and follow the instructions.

2. Scan the QR code on the appliance label when prompted.

On the hob:

1. Switch on the hob.

2. Touch the Wi-Fi key for 3 seconds to enter the Wi-Fi menu (only possible when not cooking).

3. When ‘C’ (connection) is shown, touch the Wi-Fi key to activate Connection setup. ‘C’ will flash.

In the app:

1. Follow the remaining instructions in the app to connect your mobile device to the hob’s Wi-Fi network and then share your home network details with the hob.

To receive firmware updates, your ASKO HID865MC must be connected to the cloud via the ConnectLife app.

1. When a new firmware is available, you will receive a notification in the ConnectLife app. Follow the instructions given in the app.

2. To start the update process, you must confirm your presence at the hob. Go to the hob’s settings menu and set the ‘FoA’ (Firmware over the Air) setting to ON. This setting automatically resets to OFF after 90 minutes.

3. After setting FoA to ON, start the update process on your mobile app.

4. The hob will switch off, and the Wi-Fi symbol will flash during the update. The process can take up to 60 minutes.

During the update, the hob cannot be used. Do not terminate the power supply or Wi-Fi connection. It is normal for the hob to be unresponsive or restart multiple times.

You can tailor the hob’s behavior by adjusting its settings. To enter the settings menu, ensure no pans are on any zone, then touch any slider with two fingers and hold for 3 seconds. Toggle through the settings using the slider. To view or change a setting, touch the slider element with one finger and hold for 3 seconds, then toggle to the desired value. After 3 seconds of inactivity, the new setting will be confirmed.

Here are some of the available settings:

Set the locking function (Child Lock) before you start cleaning. It is recommended to clean the hob after each use to prevent cooked-on food from damaging the glass surface.

Daily cleaning:

1. Use a damp cloth and a mild cleaning agent (washing-up liquid) to clean the appliance.

2. Dry the appliance with a paper towel or a cloth.

For heavily polluted glass:

1. Immediately remove any food remains, burned grease, or sugar from the hob using a glass scraper, even if the hob is still hot.

2. Hold the scraper at a 45° to 60° angle to the glass and gently slide it over the surface to remove the dirt.

3. After removing stubborn stains, use the daily cleaning steps to clean the hob.

4. If necessary, a special intensive cleaner for ceramic/induction hobs can be used.

Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, steel wool, scourers, or any sharp objects to clean the appliance as they can cause scratches.

If your hob does not work properly, it may not be defective. Check the following points first. If you see a crack in the glass top, switch the hob off immediately and unplug it.

In case of other error codes, please write down the error code and contact the service department.
