What are the general safety instructions for using the ASKO HID754MC induction hob?

Before using your ASKO HID754MC, please read the safety instructions first. Here are the key points:

General Safety:

• The appliance is not intended to be operated by an external timer or separate remote-control system.

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard.

• Do not use steam cleaners or high-pressure cleaners, as this may result in an electric shock.

• The cooking process must be supervised. A short-term cooking process must be supervised continuously.

• Metallic objects such as knives, forks, spoons, and lids should not be placed on the hob surface as they can get hot.

• After use, switch off the hob element by its control and do not rely solely on the pan detector.

Households with children and people with special needs:

• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning safe use.

• Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

• The appliance and its accessible parts become hot during use. Care should be taken to avoid touching heating elements. Children younger than 8 years of age shall be kept away unless continuously supervised.

Danger of Fire:

• Do not store items on the cooking surfaces.

• Unattended cooking on a hob with fat or oil can be dangerous and may result in fire. NEVER try to extinguish a fire with water; instead, switch off the appliance and then cover the flame with a lid or a fire blanket.

Risk of Electric Shock:

• If the surface is cracked, switch off the appliance to avoid the possibility of electric shock.

Other Important Instructions:

• The appliance is for household use only. Do not use it for other purposes like room heating or drying items, as this may lead to injury or fire.

• Only an authorized service technician or expert should connect the appliance to the power mains.

• If another electrical appliance is connected near the hob, ensure its power cord does not contact hot cooking zones.

• Do not store temperature-sensitive items like cleaners, detergents, or spray cans underneath the appliance.

How does the cooking-time limiter on the ASKO HID754MC work?

The cooking-time limiter on your ASKO HID754MC is a safety feature that automatically switches off a cooking zone if you forget to do so. The operating time is limited based on the power setting you have chosen.

Automatic switch-off times for standard settings:

Setting The cooking zone switches off automatically after:
1 and 2 9 hours
3, 4 and 5 6 hours
6, 7 and 8 4 hours
9 3 hours
10 2 hours
11 and 12 1 hour

Automatic switch-off time for boost setting:

Setting The cooking zone switches automatically to setting 12 after:
boost 10 minutes

The cooking-time limiter for a specific zone is reset whenever you change the cooking level for that zone. Note that any cooking zone related timers you set will take priority over the cooking-time limiter.

How do I operate the touch controls on my ASKO HID754MC?

Operating the touch controls on your ASKO HID754MC is simple and precise. Follow these tips for the best results:

• Place the tip of your finger flat on the control. You do not need to apply pressure.

• The touch sensors react only to the light pressure of a fingertip. Do not use other objects to operate the controls.

• The hob is operated by a circular slider. You can either touch a specific part of the slider to select a power level or slide your finger in a circular motion (clockwise to increase, anti-clockwise to decrease) to adjust the power level and temperature.

• When you touch the slider, the selected power level will appear on the cooking zone display, and the selected part of the slider will be fully lit.

How does induction cooking work on the ASKO HID754MC and what are its benefits?

The ASKO HID754MC uses a magnetic field to generate heat. When you place a pan with an iron base on a cooking zone, a current is induced directly in the pan’s base, which generates heat. This method has several benefits:

Easy: The electronic controls are accurate and easy to set. On the lowest setting, you can melt chocolate directly in the pan without a bain-marie.

Fast: High power levels bring liquids to a boil very quickly. Food cooks through just as fast as with other cooking methods.

Clean: The hob is easy to clean because the cooking zones don’t get hotter than the pans themselves, so food spills cannot burn onto the surface.

Safe: Heat is generated in the pan itself, so the glass top stays considerably cooler than a ceramic hob or gas burner. Once a pan is removed, the cooking zone cools down quickly.

How does the power management system on the ASKO HID754MC work?

The ASKO HID754MC is equipped with a smart power management system to ensure that the maximum permissible power is not exceeded, providing safety and efficient power distribution.

• The system automatically arranges power distribution across the cooking zones. If you increase the power level of one zone, the hob might automatically decrease the power on another zone to stay within the limits.

• The power level of one zone can affect another as the maximum available power is distributed among them. If the combined power demand reaches the maximum available, the power levels of one or more zones are automatically reduced. This is indicated by the flashing of the relevant control element.

• If a zone is being used for Celsius°Cooking™, it will always have the highest priority for power.

• Intervention by the power management system is more likely when the current limiter is set to a lower level by a qualified installer.

What type of pans should I use with my ASKO HID754MC induction hob?

Induction cooking requires pans of a particular quality. Use only pans suitable for induction cooking with a thick, flat base (minimum 2.25 mm). Pans previously used on a gas hob are no longer suitable for induction.

You can check if your pans are suitable by using a magnet. If the base of the pan is sufficiently attracted to the magnet, it is suitable for induction cooking.

Pan Suitability Chart:

Suitable Unsuitable
Special stainless steel pans Earthenware
Class Induction Stainless steel (non-magnetic)
Hard-wearing enamelled pans Porcelain
Enamelled cast-iron pans Copper
Plastic
Aluminium

Important Cautions:

• Be careful with enamelled sheet-steel pans as the enamel may chip if you switch the hob on at a high setting when the pan is dry. The base may also warp due to overheating. Always heat up enamelled pans slowly.

• Never use pans with a misshapen, hollow, or rounded base, as this can interfere with the overheating protection and may cause the glass top to crack or the pan base to melt.

What are the common noises my ASKO HID754MC might make during operation?

It is normal for your ASKO HID754MC induction hob to make certain noises during operation. These are not signs of a malfunction.

A ticking sound: This can be heard at lower power level settings or when the automatic pot detection is active. This is normal.

Pans making noise: Some pans may make noise during cooking. This is caused by the energy flowing from the hob to the pan and is perfectly normal. It will not damage the pans or the hob.

The fan is making noise: The appliance is equipped with cooling fans to protect the electronics. During intense use, a fan will activate, and you will hear a buzzing sound. The fan may continue to run for several minutes after the hob has been switched off to cool down the components.

How should I clean my ASKO HID754MC induction hob?

To keep your hob in the best condition, clean it after each use. This prevents cooked-on food from damaging the glass surface. Always set the locking function (Child Lock) before you start cleaning.

Daily cleaning:

1. Use a damp cloth and a mild cleaning agent (like washing-up liquid) to clean the appliance.

2. Dry the appliance with a paper towel or a cloth.

Cleaning heavily polluted glass:

1. For burned grease, sugar, or stubborn stains, immediately use a glass scraper, even if the hob is still hot. Sugar and other food remains can permanently damage the surface.

2. Hold the scraper at a 45° to 60° angle to the glass. Gently press and slide it over the surface to remove the dirt.

3. After removing the stubborn stains, perform the daily cleaning steps.

4. If needed, a special intensive cleaner for ceramic/induction hobs can be used.

Important: Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, steel wool, scourers, or any type of sharp objects, as they can cause scratches.
